Concerns Grow About ACORN… Not sure why because Brad and WFA thinks this is just a big GOP hoax!

Missouri Governor Matt Blunt told HUMAN EVENTS yesterday he is ‘very concerned’ about Obama’s ties to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — ACORN — which is being investigated for fraudulent voter registrations in several states. ACORN has so far helped register 1.3 million people to vote in 2008.“This is not a Lion’s Club or a social club that tried to have a voter registration effort and made some mistakes. This is a group with a history of systematic fraud around Election Day,” Blunt told HUMAN EVENTS. “I think it says a lot about Obama’s judgment that they would make an $800,000 contribution to a group that has a history of systematic fraud.”

In Missouri, a key battleground state this election year, local election officials have already reported fraudulent registration forms submitted by ACORN, including multiple registrations from one home.

“I’m not talking about two or three people registered from one home, but literally dozens,” Blunt said.

According to Blunt, ACORN has a history of fraud in the Show Me State. In 2000, the group submitted over 5,000 registrations from the city of St. Louis. Less than half turned out to be valid, and Blunt said a thousand of them were a clear attempt to commit registration fraud. In 2006, four ACORN employees were indicted in Missouri; in 2008, eight ACORN workers pleaded guilty to registration fraud in the state. Missouri ACORN head organizer Jeff Ordower did tell HUMAN EVENTS, however, that ACORN must turn in every card it receives and that the organization has both flagged suspicious activities and cooperated fully with all outside whistleblowers.

I checked on Brad’s blog no new ACORN defense posts today, but he does have this juicy post:

Officials: FBI investigates ACORN for voter fraud…

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

WASHINGTON (AP) - The FBI is investigating whether the community activist group ACORN helped foster voter registration fraud around the nation before the presidential election.
A senior law enforcement official confirmed the investigation to The Associated Press on Thursday. A second senior law enforcement official says the FBI was looking at results of recent raids on ACORN offices in several states for any evidence of a coordinated national scam.MORE

Ohio elections chief asks US Supreme Court to intervene; dispute over voter registration…

About 200K Ohio voters have records discrepancies

I am getting a headache from listening to local talk radio and people who apparently have been reading Brad’s blog post saying that all of the ACORN crap is just GOP smear tactics.
What Brad and the libs keep saying is that “even if a Mickey Mouse voter registration is submitted, Mickey Mouse can’t vote, so what is the big deal?”

This has nothing to do with whether or not these registrations are legit or not, what is has to do with is that the liberal voter scam groups simply want to overwhelm an already understaffed voter registration system.

Think of it in football terms. When a team practices a given play on offense, all seems well; everybody seems to execute their assigned duties.

acorn14.JPGHowever during a game, you call that same play and the defensive coordinator calls an all out blitz. The goals are 1) simply is to get the QB to throw early 2) hope that you disrupt the play 3) hope that one of your defenders reaches the QB, you can’t block everybody.

The attempt in this voter scam mess is to simply overwhelm the system. Election officials in these states are already short staffed. So now you have these liberals turning in thousands and thousands of bogus registrations, they ALL have to be checked.
Lets get real folks you know some of these fraudulent registrations WILL result in some votes (for Obama) being cast.

The goal is the fuck up the system. Some of these folks have been registering the same people numerous times, registering the deceased whatever. This could be a problem if the courts decide that votes of suspicious registries should be dismissed - this may ALSO result in valid votes being dismissed as in one case here in the Kansas City area.

Think about your own polling place, usually staffed by 75-80 year old folks. The number of names on the lists overwhelming these poll workers, the more people they have to think about, the more they get frazzled and can’t do their jobs efficiently (they are volunteers).

Now you have some lawyer coming in and cites voter irregularities or some other nonsense keeping the polls open way past normal times thus allowing the living poor people who have been registered, to be bussed in to vote some with bogus registrations. Guess who they will vote for? DUH?

If Obama were to lose, think about the hell that will break lose. Numerous court challenges not to mention the same liberals like our friend Brad defending ACORN now, but later you will have him posting shit about GOP voter intimidation and other crap. Brilliant scheme but there is just no telling how much of an effect it will have on Election Day.

So no matter how many times you hear liberals bitch that all of the ACORN stuff is some big GOP hoax just use a little common sense. Obama did not send these people (ACORN) all of that money for nothing, dude wants results or his election loss means these folks gravy train is derailed.

ACORN: We’ll Get Back To You January 30th

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

In Outright Fraud v. Phantom Suppression, I concluded with the following observation regarding the ever cooperative ACORN under investigation.

ACORN - An ever cooperative organization with standards so lofty they struggle to meet them. [ . . . ]But rest assured, ACORN is cooperating fully and eager to assist in investigations. With so much to cross-check and verify, they should have internal findings for investigators in a timely manner. Sometime around, say, January 30th.

Brad Says: “Dammit you idiots!! Where’s the ACORN ‘Voter Fraud’?” “There is NO voter fraud”

I gotta give it to this dude; he is the staunchest defender of ACORN and liberal voter fraud on the net. He is on my daily read list for liberals now mainly because all other liberal blogs defer to him for the latest voter fraud scoop.
I like and admire liberal passion sometimes.
It is amusing to me how he has taken it upon himself to inform his masses on the left what they should be paying attention to and what they should ignore and how to interpret what you read, how to read between the lines.
And for you fucken dumbass idiots on the right or “wingnuts” as he puts it every time you see some ACORN voter fraud GOP lie you get sucked in like the idiot minions you are!
Ignore all of these right wing blogs, Fox news… er uh any news on ACORN, its just lies lies and more lies.
You people are apparently too stupid to decipher the truth for yourself.

By Brad Friedman

So where’s the “voter fraud”?

Fox “News” and its Rupert Murdoch-owned print brethren, the New York Post, continue to bang the GOP’s phony ACORN “voter fraud” drum, but as far as I can tell, they’ve failed to come up with a single incident of any actual voter fraud committed by the dastardly “left-wing extremists.”

Yes, Ann Coulter has committed felony voter fraud, but neither of the Murdoch outfits has yet to note that point, even while they go wall-to-wall with misleading reports claiming that ACORN is committing massive “voter fraud” on behalf of the Democrats.

So, as it’s now been revealed that John McCain himself was a keynote speaker at a 2006 ACORN rally (on immigration reform) in Florida, where he declared to the ACORN volunteers in the room that they are “What makes America special,” and as I’ve been going back and forth with commenters on my “Republican Voter Fraud Hoax” piece at the UK’s Guardian (which today has shot up to one of their most read items), still, nobody seems to be able to show me an instance of any actual voter fraud committed by ACORN, or even anybody who registered via ACORN, for that matter.

Those who wish to believe in the hoax, however, attempt to link to article after article about allegations of voter fraud carried out by ACORN. And yet, the articles themselves — if one bothers to actually read them — reveal that either 1) They describe allegations and investigations brought by Republican agents, with little or no evidence of any wrong doing, and certainly no “voter fraud,” 2) Where voter registration fraud has occurred it has been by rogue ACORN employees, originally reported to authorities by ACORN themselves (who are the actual victims of any such fraud by their employees), or 3) Smoke and mirrors are used to cloud the fact that not a single fraudulent vote has actually been cast by anyone.

Let’s take a look at just two recent, oft-linked, oft-quoted New York Post articles from today and last week to give you an idea of how the scam works, and how the rightwing suckers fall for it. Every time…

Today, the Post is running an article headlined: “4,000 SHADY SIGN-UPS: Bogus Voter Booted Amid Probe of Acorn.”

acorn13.JPGThe story is cited by one gullible chump after another in comments at wingnut Michelle Malkin’s site today, where she reports on former OH Republican Sec. of State J. Kenneth Blackwell’s rightwing outfit in Ohio which has decided to file a RICO case against ACORN (just doing their part to help build the fiction, naturally, though Malkin doesn’t mention that it’s comrade Blackwell’s outfit). The ethically-bankrupt Malkin, by the way, had also falsely reported, just days before the 2004 election in Ohio, that ACORN was registering terrorists to vote in the Buckeye State! So this days-before-the-election scam is not a new one [PDF] for the GOP, it’s just being trumped up this year more than ever.

Today’s Post article is accompanied by a huge photo of a snarling, street-lookin’ black dude who claims to “have signed 73 voter registration forms for Acorn,” according to the caption along with it.

The story’s lede reports that “An Ohio man who registered to vote several times cast a bogus ballot with a fake address in a vote-fraud case stemming from ACORN, officials said today” and goes on to say that Darnell Nash (not pictured with the article) “had registered to vote repeatedly from an address that belonged to an actual registered voter.”

VOTER FRAUD! Right? Well, right. But ACORN had nothing to do with it. But you’d have to read carefully to notice.

The story goes on to explain (apparently to wingnuts who don’t bother to read beyond the first two grafs, if that much) that Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) Board of Elections “officials had been in contact with Nash since the summer, and informed him he had to stop repeat registering.”

So the Board of Elections already knew about the problem with this voter months ago, were already given information about his fraudulent registrations as turned in, and flagged by ACORN, as they must do, by law, even after confirming in their quality control process that a registration is problematic in some way, and yet the story hits Murdoch’s Post today, amidst a flurry of ginned-up Fox “News” panic about ACORN “voter fraud.” Go figure.

But the Mickey Mouse nature of the argument becomes more apparent, as the article goes on to quote Cuyahoga Election Director Jane Platten, who says: “He came in on 9/30 and Mr. Nash again registered to vote at [someone else’s] address, and he cast a ballot.”

So Nash did commit voter fraud, it was caught by officials, and it had nothing to do with ACORN, as Nash registered himself at the county’s Board of Elections.

Of course, had Nash tried to vote under the registration(s) he filed with ACORN, he’d not have been able to vote, since federal law — the Help America Vote Act of 2002 — requires that ID must be shown, when voting the first time, by anybody who hadn’t registered in person originally.

On those grounds, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Mary Poppins, and all the other Disney characters the wingnuts like to point to as having been “registered by ACORN” would not be able to vote either, unless they could prove they were actually Mickey, Donald, or Mary.
