Must be Obama’s (NEW) Nation of Whiners and Quitters

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Thanks to the son in law, over the weekend I got my X-box 360 hooked up
to play football on-line. I have a 1 month subscription that I received
from the company since I had to send my box back in for service. I am a
serious NCAA Football junkie and play the game all the damn time. So I
always wondered just how good I am compared to my human counterparts.
Now, I played a few games the first couple of games. They are tough hard
fought games. Win one and lose one.

Now when making the choice of who to play, I always select a non ranked
NCAA opponent because, again, I want to see how good I am and I’m
thinking these dudes play online all the time so they are as serious as
I am about good competition. So I play this dude who selects a highly
ranked team and I select a really shitty team and I get my ass beat and
its all good - but the important thing here is I FINISH THE GAME.

If you finish the game the - win or loss that gets you some credit
and your stats are recorded. If you don’t complete a game - or if you
do like most of these loser fucks do and do what is called a “friendly
quit” you get no win and again no stats. The last several games I
play opponents with top five teams and I am spanking that ass and just
like clockwork the mutherfuckers quit like a bunch of bitches.

So if you look at my record I’m 1 win and 3 losses when I have already
played several games where I am destroying my opponents and they QUIT!

Even in a world when you are suppose to be escaping reality and having
a little fun you still run into the same ole hard bit of reality and
that is this; We are seeing an increase of lazy quitting ass fucks in
our society.

Phil Gramm was correct; we are a nation of whiners! If the world is
not laid out before us in a nice neat easy little pile, we bitch and
moan and complain about everything around us instead of looking in the
fucken mirror. If something is going wrong in your life, chances are
pretty good that the reason is you.

Folks, I know that this is only a game and I should not take it so
seriously, and maybe I am reading far too into my little online gaming
quandary, and maybe turning this into some sort of referendum on society
is a bit much. Believe me, I’m aware of that and I would not disagree
with you on that point. But hey, I tend to process everything a tad bit
too much and I just can’t help processing life’s daily foibles into some
sort of psychoanalysis of the greater society at large.

Whether it be the quality of todays television shows or movies, to the
decay of the public school system, to road rage incidents, do we all not
process the good, the bad and the ugly of society through our own eyes
and personal interactions? I know I sure do!

In this particular game, or in any game of win or lose, as I get older
the competition is what is important. No I no longer have the athletic
body to engage in weekend warrior activities, although at 44 I can
still on occasion give the younger dudes fits on the court. But at
least in person quitting is not an option. Maybe because it is seen as
weakness. Maybe because I have more pride then most. Maybe because my
parents taught me, and I believe, that one should finish what one
starts!

The lack of reality has always been most individuals’ argument with the
online world; we can be whatever we want to be. You can go to online
gaming sites and a middle aged man can pretend to be a hot young blonde
to exercise his inner demons. We can converse and interact with people
on a daily basis that we will never see nor meet and therefore not be
subject to any particular consequences.

Hell I have been asked my many do I really believe what I write about
on this blog. The answer is, Absolutely! I don’t say anything here
on this blog that I would not say in any conversation of course
depending on the circumstances. I am what I am. Here on-line and in the
real world too.

Obviously being online enables folks to explore their raunchy, or sick
or perverted side of their persona and so I guess being quitter loser
fuck is the latest trait to emerge online. Well let me get a grip on
myself; these people were quitter loser fucks long before online gaming
became prevalent.

Being online simply allows them to be loser quitter fucks with no
consequences.

Breathe and relax Snoop…. Its only a game, right? Not to me. Its a
metaphor for all of life. This world would be far better if people
would finish what they start, even if they lose in the end. Winning is
not always about coming out on top. Sometimes, winning means you got
through it!

47% Favor Government Mandated Political Balance on Radio, TV

Friday, August 15th, 2008

fairness.jpg
Found this scary story on the blog Thunder Pig.

Although I read a lot of crazy shit on the web this is one of the few story subjects that truly scares me because most folks will simply gloss over this.
With the help of this Newt Gingrich type bipartisan, cooperation with liberals’ bullshit I hear from fake ass Republicans, while they are preaching “political harmony” at the front door liberals will be working to continue to strangle our freedoms as they attempt to limit or extinguish conservative viewpoints at the back door.

Liberty is in danger of being extinguished…by our own hand.

Rasmussen recently published the results of a poll, and the numbers are startling:

Government Control of Media

47% of Americans believe that the United States Government should be involved in forcing ALL television and Radio Stations to offer equal amounts of conservative and liberal commentary. Only 39% oppose it. Last year, the numbers were evenly divided at 41% for and an equal number against.

Check out the rest here

I swear I’m not generally a conspiracy theorist but I can see the day when conservative talk shows like Rush will be forced off the radio and onto some other sort of broadcast platform particularly if Obama is elected and if the Democrats gain significant traction in the House and Senate in November.

Folks on the right better be paying close attention to this shit or we (America) is fucked!

Edwards is a typical Democrat and his idiot fans will still love him

Nice. Now, be fair and balanced and list the top ten Republican sex scandals. Not gonna happen? Oh, well. (Just thought I’d give you a little fodder for another post.)

Here, I’ll get you started:

1. John McCain
2. Newt Gingrich
3. David Vitter
4. Oh, heck… you take it from here.

Oh Len U so silly, LOL!

Here is a PDF file I found just for you

Oh Len U so silly, LOL!

Ok let me explain AGAIN why we folks on the right love rubbing shit like this Edwards cheater scandal in y’alls face.
Democrats are suppose to be for the little guy, the champion of the downtrodden
men for and of the people, bottom line Democrats “care” about little people, right? But when one of their previously adored leaders is caught, literally with pants down, who cares if they screw a few interns, engage in a little sexually inappropriate behavior or sexual harassment? Democrats will excuse any and all personal indiscretions as long as they can, and all to obtain political power, wealth and influence. You are happy with having hypocrites of the first order as your leaders, as long as your boys and girls vote to promote abortion, raise taxes, allow illegals to infiltrate, to redistribute wealth and pimp for teachers unions so they can fuck our public schools over along with our kids so they can promote homosexuality, multiculturalism, and climate change bullshit.

“Snoop what does this have to do with Edwards?”
Even after this scandal you Democrats will still - after time - welcome him to the fold. As long as Edwards has followers and some influence you folks will dismiss the fact that this piece of shit fucked around on his cancer stricken wife!!! And all the while he pretend and lied about being so moral.

What is worse is as I have said before THE LIBERAL MEDIA KNEW THE FUCK WAS GUILTY AND TRIED TO COVER IT UP!

See you know of all of the Republican skeletons because the media will never miss a chance to let y’all know. I don’t have a beef with that because if you are a piece of shit fraudulent ass politician you need to be embarrassed and exposed.

See us folks on the right (well many of us) react differently when one of our people act this way. If a Republican is caught fucking around on his cancer stricken wife we will post it and crucify their retarded fuck ass right along with the liberals. And remember the right does not have the huge advantage of having major networks and publications glossing over it or covering it up.

Ted Kennedy who will soon die and will be celebrated as this American political icon and liberal Democrat hero never mind he was responsible for the death of a young lady who might have been saved if his drunk ass had done something other then get the hell out of there when he drove her into the water!

Bill Clinton as we all know fucked around WHILE IN THE WHITE HOUSE and yet at this Democrat convention will have his tired idiot ass speaking amongst liberal fans in prime time. Who care that he fucked around on his wife A FORMER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE and who cares that he was responsible for fucking up his own wife’s campaign!

See Len I’m not a homer. I’m not a Republican. I’m not a campaign or some GOP insider operative posing as a blogger. I am just an average American who would like my leaders to tell the truth. I don’t expect perfection. Just honesty.

When a politician is fucked up they need to be called on it regardless of the party.

I bet if you were to have a conversation with any Democrat liberal most will say about the Edwards scandal “oh well all politicians are fucked up”, however, if Edwards were a Republican those same people would all say “see just one more evil Republican.” You know I’m telling the truth.

Our political system is fucked because the masses will not unite and say to these sorry fucks we won’t tolerate this kind of behavior. Why won’t they? Because most people are selfish. They cheat, they steal, they fuck around on their wives, they sexually harass others at work and do a lot of bad things. And then they lie about doing it UNLESS they are exposed. And then, they still try to wiggle out of the results – and often their followers let them off light by ignoring the hypocrisy, overlooking repeated scandals, or simply accepting lies. Why?

Let’s face it, politics are a mirror of our society. People often forgive others not because of some religious belief but because they are often doing the same things themselves. Those who are not upset when someone misbehaves and then (repeatedly and publicly) lies about it are quite likely not horrified because they too are doing similar things!

But what about those of us who aren’t doing those things? What about those of us who do not hide our flaws from other people. Don’t we have a right to expect our leaders to follow some simple rules concerning personal integrity? Or at the very least not lie about who they really are? How can we vote for someone with any assurance that we know who we are getting if the cardinal rule of politics is to hide who you really are, at any cost? Why can’t liberals and conservatives alike insist that their leaders be candid? Is that so much to ask?

For most liberals it is about where an individual stands on the issues. Period.
You see, Charles Manson or Adolph Hitler could be a Democrat Senator or Congressman for a long time, just as long as he votes for traditional liberal values; who cares about a few criminal transgressions?!

Kerry uses racist term “Tar Baby” to characterize McCain attack

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Leave to your pal Snoop to remind y’all about the last time a Republican used the term.
Must be a Massachusetts thing, hell after all Boston and much of New England is one of the more racist areas in the country.

Romney Apologizes For ‘Tar Baby’

Romney apologizes for use of expression - To some, `tar baby’ is racial pejorative

Massachusetts governor apologizes for calling Big Dig ‘tar baby’

Those Funny “Tar Baby” Republicans - Mitt Romney

Romney’s “Tar Baby” Sparks Racial Ire

REMEMBER THIS - McCain and the “tar baby”

Responding to a question about the rights of divorced fathers during a town hall meeting in Cedar Falls, Iowa, today, John McCain said that he wouldn’t want to interfere in the decisions of divorce courts because doing so would be “getting into a tar baby of enormous proportions.”

Random House notes that “tar baby” is “used occasionally as a derogatory term for black people” and that “some people suggest avoiding the use of the term in any context.” At a press conference after today’s town hall event, McCain said: “I don’t think I should have used that word. And I was wrong to do so.”

The Arizona senator isn’t the first Republican presidential candidate to use — and then apologize for using — the term. Mitt Romney was forced to apologize last summer after using it to describe a troubled highway project. Tony Snow also used the term in his very first White House press conference. Later, he said that he’d take “tar baby” out of his “toolchest of rhetorical devices” even though he thought people who consider the term racist just don’t understand “a hundred and fifty years of American culture.”

Could an Obama presidency hurt black Americans?

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Misty sent me the following story from CNN.com more after the break…

“We had a dream. Now it’s a reality.”

That’s the slogan on a popular T-shirt linking Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential run to the Rev. Martin Luther King’s dream of racial equality. It’s one of several T-shirts — including “Barack is my homeboy”– that reflect African-Americans’ euphoria over Obama’s White House bid.

But there are others who warn that an Obama presidency could hurt African-Americans. They say an Obama victory could cause white Americans to ignore entrenched racial divisions while claiming that America has reached the racial Promised Land.

Paul Street, author of the forthcoming book “Barack Obama and the Future of American Politics,” says Obama risks becoming an Oval Office version of talk-show host Oprah Winfrey. She and former Secretary of State Colin Powell are African-American figures whose popularity allows some white Americans to congratulate themselves for not being racist, he says

“They’re cited as proof that racism is no longer a significant barrier to black advancement and interracial equality,” Street said.

“This isn’t new. Go to the 19th century, and Southern aristocrats would point to a certain African-American landowner who was doing well to prove that whites are not racist.”

Nick Shapiro, an Obama spokesman, says Obama believes that America has made tremendous progress in the past 50 years. iReport.com: Biggest challenges for black America

“However, the suggestion that somehow Senator Obama’s campaign represents an easy shortcut is not realistic,” Shapiro said in a statement. “Senator Obama believes that we still have a lot of work to do, and that’s not just true for the issues facing blacks or Latinos, but for women and other communities struggling to secure the basic necessities in life like jobs, housing, health care and quality education.”

***********************************
First of all this story is a precursor to the two party CNN special they are having about called: Black in America.

First the CNN program is in my estimation embarrassing and insulting.
I’m not going to go into a lot of detail on this because this program is just another attempt to put us all in categories or groups. Will CNN run a series on Asians in America, or Hispanics in America highlighting their uniqueness. CNN obviously believes that white folks racism through their collective ignorance of Negros needs to be addressed. Lookie here whitey, these Negros are more like you than not, but they ARE different.
I said it a million times I hate the notion that I am on some fucken Negro team as if all black folks have my best interest at heart.
Niggas are incarcerated at an alarming rate, Niggas are killing each other still at an alarming rate, and they are not going to school, not even managing to graduate from high school.
The reality is shows like this are in my mind extremely divisive. It tells other ethnic groups that the “black” experience is different and irreconcilable with the American experience. Blacks are the only group in America that has the benefit of ghetto5.jpgconstant excuses and explanations, which is not really a benefit. It serves to the detriment of black folks.

As for this web story “Could an Obama presidency hurt black Americans?” Hurt Negros, of course not, but what I have said before and I will no doubt repeat often if Obama is elected Negros will act like damm fools. I can see the ghettoized types partying in the streets, becoming more belligerent towards law enforcement and just about any other white authority figure. You will see more discrimination lawsuits as racial tension builds in workplaces.
Just think about the utter stupidity displayed by Negros after the OJ verdict and magnify that times ten.

Oh don’t get me wrong your uneducated silly idiot whitey redneck attitudes towards black will become more strained and the typical glares and looks rednecks give me anytime I walk into certain establishments will no doubt last a bit longer, however my take is basically black folks will no doubt see and Obama presidency as an invitation to engage in more societal retardation than normal.
The Magic Negros presidency will be seen and an invitation for black folks to exert their new found “perceived” power and status. As the story states a Magic Negro presidency is payback and “atonement for America’s ugly racial past.” You racist ass white people owe us, no doubt some ridiculous call for “black unity” will arise and every community in the country will be called on the carpet to address racial injustices having a Negro president will be the symbolic club to beat the racism in injustice out of you racist white people.

Anywho, this reminded me of a good blog piece I posted some time ago “The Old Guy Perspective” Obama and race from Instapunk.
This CNN web article and the CNN TV program is just the beginning of the barrage you white people will have to endure if the Magic Negro is elected.
More of you white folks will no doubt be echoing the sentiments in this piece.

***********************************
race1.jpgThis is from Instapunk, interesting read.

Some liberal bloggers are having a cow, but I get dudes vibe. Check it out.

DEALING WITH IT. Obama says we should talk about race. He thinks that will help him. It won’t. Most of us have spent a lifetime absorbing the lesson that seeing what we see automatically makes us racist. Do you want to talk about it? Do you? Really? There are a few areas where, by virtue of age and experience, I think I can speak for the overwhelming majority of Americans. We want to get past racial problems. We recognize that slavery was a sin and that we have a moral obligation to see to it that our institutions and our own behavior are fair to everyone. We share a yearning so fierce that it amounts to an ache for a color-blind society in which all may prosper on the basis of abilities, not skin color. It is this intense emotion which facilitated the honeymoon period of Obama’s campaign for the presidency.

But the color-blind society has not been achieved. What’s more, we are constantly told — lectured, hectored, propagandized — that this state of affairs is our fault. We tend to accept the charge because the truth is we don’t spend all our time thinking about race, and so we defer to those who think about nothing else because, well, we almost never get up in the morning thinking about how privileged we are to be white, which we’ve come to accept as yet another of our endless insensitivities about race.

We’ve come to accept a lot of things, in fact. Although no one alive in America has ever owned a slave, we accept that we are all somehow guilty for slavery in the American past. We accept that in our lifetimes racial discrimination has become a routine official practice against those of us whose remote ancestors were not slaves. We accept that there are doctors and lawyers and police officers and firefighters whose credentials may not be completely up to snuff because of the top-secret compromises associated with affirmative action. We accept the popular — and tiresomely repeated stereotypes — that black people are more gifted at sports and dancing and music and sexuality, although there is no other arena in which it is fair to say that white or yellow people are better than black people. We accept the premise that there exists some kind of super black woman who is a naturally better mother, matriarch, empirical philosopher, and leader of men than 5,000 years of civilization has produced in other cultures through education, discipline, and morality. We accept that any fear we feel of young black men on the sidewalk is more a reflection of our own prejudice than the cold statistics of crime. We accept that it’s improper for us to object to obscene rap recordings, thug sports stars, flagrantly corrupt politicians, and hypocritical clergy if any of these happen to be black people. We accept that the first major inroads against the hallowed First Amendment began with a political correctness about matters of race that have since ballooned to a distortion of all human interactions. We accept that everything we disapprove of in black behavior is derived from our own lack of understanding about what they’ve been through.

But Obama has invited us to talk about race.

Okay. I’m accepting the invitation. He can regret it at his leisure.

I don’t hate black people. I can’t pretend to be color-blind because absolutely nothing in my culture will allow me to be. I admire Thomas Sowell, Duke Ellington, Roberto Clemente, Muhammed Ali, Alexandre Dumas, Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Count Basie, Tiger Woods, and Bill Cosby. There are many others but that’s a sampling of the famous folks whose courage, genius, character, and achievements I would be proud if I could get anywhere in the vicinity of. The bald truth of the matter is that they’re better than I am, and it doesn’t arouse a flicker of racial feeling in me to acknowledge it. They have enriched and elevated my own experience of life.

On the other hand, I am sick to death of black people as a group. The truth. That is part of the conversation Obama is asking for, isn’t it? I live in an eastern state almost exactly on the fabled Mason-Dixon line. Every day I see young black males wearing tee shirts down to their knees — and jeans belted just above their knees. I’m an old guy. I want to smack them. All of them. They are egregious stereotypes. It’s impossible not to think the unthinkable N-Word when they roll up beside you at a stoplight in their trashed old Hondas with 19-inch spinner wheels and rap recordings that shake the foundations of the buildings. It’s like a broadcast dare: Go ahead! Call me a nigger! And then I’ll cap your ass.

Here’s the dirty secret all of us know and no one will admit to. There ARE niggers. Black people know it. White people know it. And only black people are allowed to notice and pronounce the truth of it. Which would be fine. Except that black people are not a community but a political party. They can squabble with each other in caucus but they absolutely refuse to speak the truth in public.

Guidos not welcomed in New Jersey beach town

Monday, July 21st, 2008

mayor.jpg

This is from the New York Post, via Conservative Grapevine

Guidos to Belmar’s mayor: Hey, shudduppa you face!

Furious Staten Islanders think the Jersey Shore pol who recently disrespected them as a bunch of tacky, overtanned loudmouths, should go wash his mouth out with soap.

“The mayor should watch his fucking mouth!” said Cameron Mambelli, 21, of Great Kills, SI, who was working on his tan with a group of friends yesterday on the beach at Belmar, NJ.

The mayor of that popular seaside resort, Ken Pringle, ignited interstate outrage with a July 4 newsletter to residents that insulted visitors from Staten Island.

guido2.jpgHe said the borough’s women use too much hairspray and get into drunken bar fights - and that the men are Armani Exchange-wearing “guidos” with skin “tanned to the color of coconut shells.”

“The next thing he’s going to say is that every guido is in the Mafia. What? I’m supposed to have a ‘goumada’? ” sniped Sebastian Mauro, 37, a self-described “guido” who frequents Belmar and owns a home in New Jersey.

I BET HE LOOKS LIKE THE GUY IN THIS PHOTO…

“I think people in New Jersey are watching too much ‘Sopranos.’ I may actually sell my house . . . if guidos aren’t welcome in New Jersey.”

John Englebert, a spokesman for the Staten Island Good Neighbor Association, said New Yorkers should refuse to visit the beach town.

The rest of the story here…

Shit as far as I’m concerned I’d want this guy as my mayor it makes me glad that I live here in the Midwest I sure as hell would avoid vacation areas frequented by New Yorkers.
I love the fact that these people are threatening to boycott the town.
You mean the mayor by badmouthing some guido idiot fucks they may be so outraged that the hairspray hoes along with dude who resemble the morons in these photos will take their idiot asses elsewhere?
Sounds like a convention and visitors bureau promo to me. “Guido’s NOT Welcomed.”

The Great “Poverty Line” Lie!

Monday, July 7th, 2008

slum21.jpg
So I thought since there is not much else out there of interest to me in the blog world I’ll post this article that many of you should already be well aware of from a website called The Real Truth.

Nothing new here, just more evil right wing Po folks bashing in case the Dead Elephant folks come to visit. LOL!

Prior to posting this I was listening to O’Reilly and this dude comes on the radio and says that “because of Bush millions of people are out there struggling.” Struggling how dipshit? I’m thinking shut the fuck up you fucken moronic jackass. This is why I truly wish that folks could do some sort of foreign service work to see what “real” poverty looks like.

“But Snoop millions of people are losing their jobs…”

Ok so you worked at a Starbucks, did it not occur to you that your job may be in jeopardy when the brilliant geniuses at Starbucks put a store right across the street from ANOTHER STARBUCKS!
Now they decide to close 600 stores is that really a fucken shock!?

Ok so you work at GM plant, rumor has it that GM is having financial problems. Hmmm could it be that they produce a shit load of cars nobody wants to buy!?
Just my humble opinion but GM has not made a car I wanted to purchase new since the 70’s. I have had a few GM vehicles in my lifetime Buick, Olds, Pontiac all died of complete transmission failure.
Also their best selling vehicles were huge SUV’s with gas now at 4 plus per gallon well nobody could have seen the result of that little oversight.

“But Snoop many American’s are losing a lot of jobs to Mexicans”

As one comedian I watched this weekend put it, if a Mexican is able to sneak over the border and walk in and do your job then you my friend are a loser and you need a new career field.

This is America’s Achilles heel. A prosperous free nation that has enhanced the quality of life of hundreds of millions of people, Mexican’s and other foreigners risking their lives trying to get here and yet liberal activist types with help from the MSM all to grab political power brainwashes a bunch of clueless folks that the country is falling apart because they can’t buy their kid a new pair of Nike’s or the latest video game.
Not spending beyond your means, or occasionally checking out your local thrift store is out of the question because living ghetto fabulous is top priority.

No less irritating is a recent news story I watched where this spoiled bimbo fuck who was complaining that it cost a whopping $95.00 to fill up her oversized SUV.
You don’t need to cart your fucken kids around in a goddamm SUV you idiot skank!
Besides when I was stationed in Italy in 1984 gas was fucken $4.00 per gallon.
Either get a different car or stop driving so damm much.
If you live 50 miles plus from work and it takes you two hours to get home because of heavy traffic thereby burning up the salary you made that day remember the next time you coo the virtues of living on the trendy east and west coasts.
But I digress, in a ranty mood.

Poor people with cell phones, multiple cars, and designer bags, complaining and spoiled supposedly more affluent types bitching about ridiculous crap it’s enough to give me a headache.

Lies, Lies, evil GOP lies!!!

Just how poor are America’s poor?
By Robert W. Pack

Of the 300 million-plus people living in the United States of America, 37 million live at or below the poverty line! This is according to an annual report on poverty released in 2006 by the U.S. Census Bureau, which studied the nation’s standard of living and included various factors related to the population’s daily living conditions.

The realization that more than 12% of U.S. citizens are struggling to survive day to day is used as evidence by politicians, pundits and news organizations to prove that two Americas exist: “the have’s” and “the have not’s.”

Yet certain questions arise: Just how bad have economic conditions become for tens of millions of Americans? How can so many be living below the poverty line? Is there something that can be done?

Before solutions can be proposed, a key question must first be answered and understood: What are the factors used to determine who is poor in America?

Living in Poverty?

In a Jan. 27, 1838, public address, Abraham Lincoln, who later became the 16th President of the United States, stated the following: “We find ourselves in the peaceful possession, of the fairest portion of the earth, as regards extent of territory, fertility of soil, and salubrity of climate…We…found ourselves the legal inheritors of these fundamental blessings. We toiled not in the acquirement or the establishment of them.”

Does this still hold true today—are the American people still the recipients of blessings that Lincoln clearly recognized almost 170 years ago?

The U.S. government derived “poverty thresholds” in 1963-64 to determine levels of economic stress and food budgets for low income families. Today, the poverty index bears little resemblance to what most typically associate with poverty or the poor.

In 2003, for example, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development asked the following question of the general public: “How would you describe being poor in the U.S.?” The vast majority of responses indicated that “homelessness, hunger, not being able to eat ‘properly,’ and not being able to meet basic needs” were criteria for considering someone was “poor.”

In 2006, the Heritage Foundation, a prominent conservative think tank, conducted a comprehensive and comparative study to determine how the poverty line is defined. Based on research on living conditions reported by those classified as poor, the findings were quite revealing.

One of the clearest and most easily definable factors in determining daily living conditions around the world is whether a person has enough daily food and a minimum quality of food. According to the 2006 Heritage report, “Survey data shows that nutriment density (amount of vitamins, minerals, and protein per kilocalorie of food) does not vary by income class…In reality, government data show that most poor households do not suffer even from temporary food shortages.”

Overall, 98% of U.S. households reported that they always had “enough food to eat” during the past four months (although not always the types of food they would have preferred). Some 1.8% of all households reported they “sometimes” did not have enough food to eat during the previous four months, while only 0.4% said they “often” did not have enough food.

In other words, although a small few of those considered poor reported there were “temporary shortfalls” of food availability, there was no discernable difference in the quality of food available. The only real difference, when compared with those with higher incomes, was in food choices.

Ironically, the biggest problem facing America’s poor is obesity—or over consumption—which is reaching near epidemic proportions.

Also included in the Heritage report findings for those defined as poor:

  • 43% own their homes.
  • The “average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.”
  • They have significantly more “living space” than does the average citizen living in affluent international cities such as London, Paris, Vienna and Athens. Only 6% of those living below America’s poverty line reported their living conditions as being “overcrowded.”

Next, consider that most today take pleasure in amenities that were considered luxuries just a generation or two ago.

For instance, of the 37 million labeled “poor” in the U.S., 80% enjoy the comforts of air-conditioning, as opposed to only 36% of the entire population in 1970.

America’s “poor” are also swimming in technology-related goods and services:

  • 97% own color televisions (over half have two or more)
  • 63% have either cable or satellite access
  • Over 99% have refrigerators
  • 73% own microwave ovens
  • One in three households have automatic dishwashers
  • One-third have cell phones, landline phones and telephone answering machines—less than a paltry 10% “survive” without telephone service at all.
  • Almost three-quarters own a car and—more surprisingly—over 30% own two cars or more!

These are hardly the difficult conditions most Americans envision when describing the poor. One is left to wonder: Where are the millions of U.S. citizens who are living in “incredible poverty,” as so many politicians and media pundits adamantly assert?

Compared to Other “Developed Countries”

Billions of poor around the world live in conditions that those in Western Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are unable to fully comprehend—from tiny huts on the islands of Indonesia, where people are still struggling to recover from the catastrophic effects of the 2004 tsunami, to war-torn Central Africa, where hundreds of millions struggle daily to find enough—and drinkable—water and food to survive.

However, comparing the daily living conditions of America’s poor to those living in countries of “low human development” (as the United Nations defines them)—commonly referred to as “Third World” nations—is an unfair comparison. A better gauge of the standard of living and blessings that the United States enjoys is to compare it with other “first world” or “high human development” nations, such as Brazil and Russia. For instance, 10% of the Brazilian population does not have access to an improved water source, and only 23% have landline telephones. The UN also found that from 1990 to 2005, 45% of Russian citizens lived on less than $4 per day.

According to the United Nations 2007/2008 Human Development Report, “average” citizens living in many of these countries live well below America’s standard of living for its poor. In general, the homes, cars, food intake and luxury items that the poorest U.S. citizens enjoy are well beyond the levels that average citizens residing in other highly developed nations possess.

Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing is not a damm protest song!

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

From Hot Air

The city of Denver has already begun to celebrate the Democratic National Convention, which officially begins less than two months from now.  Pre-events have included the Colorful Food Watch and the Festival of Unpaid Bills, and yesterday’s State of the City speech began with Leftist Patriotism on Display.  Instead of singing the national anthem as requested, Rene Marie replaced it with a protest song:

Mayor John Hickenlooper’s annual State of the City address may get more attention for what wasn’t included than what was.

At the start of the event Tuesday morning, City Council President Michael Hancock introduced singer Rene Marie to perform the national anthem.

Instead, she performed the song “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” which is also known as the “black national anthem.”

When she finished, the audience responded with mild applause. The national anthem was never performed.

But first folks, dead serious, I’m gonna tell y’all again and remember this is not some disgruntled Negro who does not want Obama elected. I said many months ago that I don’t give a shit who is elected. But if Obama is elected you are going to see Niggas act out and do crazy and stupid shit above and beyond normal Negrodom all because a darkie is occupying the White House.
If you have not watched the “A Warning to White America Video” I suggest you do so.

Having said that, someone please pass this on to Mr. Morrissey “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” is NOT a protest song.
In fact it is a beautiful song I get chills everytime I hear it, it just is not the our national anthem.
For some white dude to say this was a “protest” song is frankly insulting.

However as more stories like this are written people ignorant of the “Negro ways” will always take the more inflammatory route.
Yes I’m critical of Negros often and no this young lady should not have done what she did but Negro foibles are now going to be magnified as white folks will now have to “learn” about Negros in a small way because Obama’s skin pigmentation has highlighted Negrodom.

Here is an extended version…

What is Snoop’s opinion on Gay Marriage? Don’t blame me Bob-O asked!

Friday, May 16th, 2008

homer-marriage.jpg

####
folsom4.jpg

You people are not fooling me, anyone who reads this blog knows by asking for my opinion on something is like tossing a smoke bomb in the girls locker room and pulling the fire alarm!!

Hell I was not gonna do any blogging today maybe a few funny You Tube clips to torture Muscle Daddy, LOL!

But I received a special comment request from Bob-O, wanted to know my views on gay marriage.

Hmmm let me see, my view now is frankly I really don’t give a shit if gay folks marry.

I use to be dead set against it, not because I have any issues with gay folks, but because of the increased cost to society in general since we all know heterosexual folks get divorced at an alarming clip imaging throwing in the manic and confused state of same sex unions.
Years from now courts will be overrun with gay couple fighting over sperm donation children and which one gets to keep the feather dress or the L-Word DVD set.

Let me just say what few will say, after all I is Snoop, I have said this before, men are already fucked up in the head, gay men are fucked up hetero men on steroids.
Men by their very nature want to stick their dick into any nasty hole they can find and so you want me to believe that two gay men who want to marry is not the toxic mix we all already know it will be. folsom2.jpgTHEN throw in the fact that two screwed up gay men want to marry because they want to I guess eventually try and adopt and raise a child. I’m just not cool with that.

Now I somewhat jokingly said that since I watch the L-word, although Mrs. Snoop will say I only watch it because of the all the girl on girl action which is not true! I do follow the story line. Ah but Snoop is sad because next season will be the last, SHIT!
Yes I do have a long standing crush on Jenifer Beals from the Flashdance days, but I digress.

Now I don’t have as much of an issue with two women hooking up because I generally tend to think that women are far more comitial when it comes to relationships. I also have no problem with two women raising a child. BUT….BUT if the L-Word is even a small sample of just how screwed up lesbian life is I’m thinking shit; are all gay lesbo folks drowning in this non stop hysterical cyclical drama every fucken day?

Anywho, I have never thought and still have never had a gay individual prove to me that the whole gay marriage thing is as big a priority amongst the gay population and some make it out to be.
I have never believed that it is about couples wanting to be together based on love and all of they mushy romance stuff.
The gay folks who push the gay marriage agenda are only seeking “societal approval” and want to be viewed as “normal” as possible. Hence the push to put same sex materials in school textbooks and wanting to shove the gay agenda down our collective throats.
gay6.jpgI don’t have an issue with folks being gay, but I’m sorry but nobody will ever, EVER be able to convince me that it is “normal.” However I understand that the mind is a complex apparatus.

From individuals having phobias, to mental health issues, musical geniuses, people who are serial killers to people with off the charts I.Q.’s. Someone’s sexual preference is simply part of that grey matter processing. Persecuting someone based on that is silly, helping people to “understand” it is cool, but it’s not NORMAL, no more than some man with a predisposition to be attractive to young kids is NORMAL or having some old fuck marry and have kids with 20 retarded women in some cult is NORMAL.

Marriage can be a difficult endeavor and must be worked at and few of us are lucky enough to find the right person. Mrs. Snoop and I are more than some “married” couple we are indeed a team and best friends.
Hell I can’t know what goes on in folks hearts and minds but if two people with the same “equipment” can have what Mrs. Snoop and I have then cool. Marriage for some is an attempt at some measure of normalcy or to appear normal to society.

Also I have a very specific bias, I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and watched as gay folks routinely made asses of themselves trying to shock society into accepting who they were when frankly most of us don’t give a shit and folks like me only became repulsed by their small yellow bus behavior.

Gay men wearing feathers and jacking off each other in public is not the way to convince an average dude like myself that I should take gay issues seriously and try to convince me that these moronic crazy ass people should get married? C’mon!!!

My other issue was back in the day (not so much anymore) gay people would compare their struggles with that of black people and that use to infuriate the fuck out of me when a white gay male is capable of reaching above the glass ceiling because at the very least they can hide their sexual preference. Black folks do not all have the secret recipe for Michael Jackson’s become whitey cream.

Bottom line, I don’t give a shit. Gay folks have the right to be just as miserable as most hetero married couples are. I have watched enough daytime television to know that this world is full of some of the most mentally fucked up retarded asses on the planet.
Just think there is an ignorant ass hillbilly redneck mullet clad couple in Arkansas who will get married this weekend outside their trailer, with the son, Billy Bob, Jr. as best man with the second child in the oven. Each will have their tooth polished, and will toast from their Dale Earnhardt beer mugs hoping for a long lasting marriage. Unfortunately down the road, Billy Bob senior will find another hillbilly honey in a bar after work one day. A hottie at least 100 pound lighter with her GED no less and he will become smitten and dump ole toothless Lucy Sue and they will be on divorce court.
I think we need to break up the monotony, fuck it let gay folks get married so we can laugh at their misery too.
After all this is America, right!? LOL!

You Think America Hasn’t Changed?

loving.jpg

From Riehl World View

Couldn’t help but acknowledge on my blog the story of Mildred Loving, who has passed away. A black woman, she married a white man in 1958. They were charged in Virginia with “cohabiting as man and wife, against the peace and dignity of the Commonwealth.”

Last year she penned a message which includes an account of their arrest, treatment by the justice system and subsequent exile from Virginia. Chilling.

Not long after our wedding, we were awakened in the middle of the night in our own bedroom by deputy sheriffs and actually arrested for the “crime” of marrying the wrong kind of person. Our marriage certificate was hanging on the wall above the bed. The state prosecuted Richard and me, and after we were found guilty, the judge declared: “Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix.” He sentenced us to a year in prison, but offered to suspend the sentence if we left our home in Virginia for 25 years exile.

Loving v. Virginia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

#######

Loving for All

By Mildred Loving * Prepared for Delivery on June 12, 2007, The 40th Anniversary of the Loving vs. Virginia Announcement

When my late husband, Richard, and I got married in Washington, DC in 1958, it wasn’t to make a political statement or start a fight. We were in love, and we wanted to be married.

We didn’t get married in Washington because we wanted to marry there. We did it there because the government wouldn’t allow us to marry back home in Virginia where we grew up, where we met, where we fell in love, and where we wanted to be together and build our family. You see, I am a woman of color and Richard was white, and at that time people believed it was okay to keep us from marrying because of their ideas of who should marry whom.

When Richard and I came back to our home in Virginia, happily married, we had no intention of battling over the law. We made a commitment to each other in our love and lives, and now had the legal commitment, called marriage, to match. Isn’t that what marriage is?

We left, and got a lawyer. Richard and I had to fight, but still were not fighting for a cause. We were fighting for our love.

Though it turned out we had to fight, happily Richard and I didn’t have to fight alone. Thanks to groups like the ACLU and the NAACP Legal Defense & Education Fund, and so many good people around the country willing to speak up, we took our case for the freedom to marry all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. And on June 12, 1967, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that, “The freedom to marry has long been recognized as one of the vital personal rights essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness by free men,” a “basic civil right.”

My generation was bitterly divided over something that should have been so clear and right. The majority believed that what the judge said, that it was God’s plan to keep people apart, and that government should discriminate against people in love. But I have lived long enough now to see big changes. The older generation’s fears and prejudices have given way, and today’s young people realize that if someone loves someone they have a right to marry.

Surrounded as I am now by wonderful children and grandchildren, not a day goes by that I don’t think of Richard and our love, our right to marry, and how much it meant to me to have that freedom to marry the person precious to me, even if others thought he was the “wrong kind of person” for me to marry. I believe all Americans, no matter their race, no matter their sex, no matter their sexual orientation, should have that same freedom to marry. Government has no business imposing some people’s religious beliefs over others. Especially if it denies people’s civil rights.

I am still not a political person, but I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, black or white, young or old, gay or straight seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.

Why you should never, never, never EVER give money to bums!

Friday, April 25th, 2008

######
This lovely incident reminded me of an old story from the Kansas City Pitch: A Holiday Catalog of Bumming. Check it out.

Bob Mauer has claim to prime panhandling real estate. He hustles on a small patch of grass near the Broadway offramp of Interstate 35. He carries a crumpled cardboard sign that reads “HELP HOMELESS VET. Thank you!” He wears a U.S. Army logo shirt and fatigue pants to make that image bankable. Mauer works the corner in shifts with two other vagabonds. At night, they share profits to buy smokes and booze. They sleep beneath a nearby overpass, huddled together for warmth.

So when an intruder comes along, Mauer has to protect his turf. This happens regularly, as it did during a recent afternoon at rush hour. Mauer, 50, didn’t even notice the guy at first. The vagrant, in his mid-40s, wore a camouflage jacket and jeans, obviously working the war-hero angle, too. Mauer finally noticed the guy because drivers who stopped at a nearby signal — the ones who usually look away and make sure their doors are locked — were peering past Mauer intently.

He spun to face the new guy.

“How long you been here?” the new guy shouted over the din of the highway. But something about him was off. His head stayed cocked to one side, resting against his shoulder. A patchwork of scabs plastered his face. He reeked of piss. “You got a sign?” the guy added hopefully, holding his own ratty homemade placard like a bargaining chip.

“I don’t know you!” Mauer shouted as the man stepped closer. “Get away from me!” He balled his hands into fists and stepped forward.

The intruder blinked. He ranted incoherently and spun in small semicircles, like a puppy that’s just discovered its tail. He stumbled back across the street and into the shadows beneath Bartle Hall.

This is the first rule of panhandling: Territory must be re-established daily. And once occupied, it is kept only by brute force.

Other rules: The best hours to “work” are when the rest of the world isn’t, rush hours and weekends. Primo work conditions are when the weather is bad, because standing in a winter storm is sure to evoke sympathy. Success is contingent on a gimmick, the street equivalent of a straight-up sales pitch.

Everyone can be categorized by a type of solicitation. Con men fake injuries or use standard come-ons. Recall the line favored by infamous Plaza panhandler Jerry Mazer, who asks passers-by for a “down payment on a cheeseburger.” Beggars put out a hand and proposition their marks directly. Cup rattlers push their message subtly, by jingling for change. Guys who “fly a sign” use cardboard to sell their plight, billboard style. They compete with more legitimate sidewalk entertainers and charity organizations, all vying for your change.

‘Tis the season to be giving. With this in mind, the Pitch has created a panhandling primer with the real stories behind some of those with their hands out.

White People Won’t Vote for Blacks, Congressman Charges

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

NOTE: This is an old post from 2006. But since we just had a primary in “racist” Pennsylvania yesterday and North Carolina is coming up, and since the Obamatopia is fading since we have discovered so much about his past, just keep this post in mind in the next few weeks.
##############
I have been hearing a lot about the ramifications of the political ads targeted at Harold Ford in Tennessee.
People on the left claim the ads were “racist” but I disagree with the racist slam, but I do agree there was some race baiting in the ads and this is something that all black political candidates, especially men, have to deal with.
White folks don’t have to view political ads to be reminded of their biases.
Chris Wallace of Fox talked in an interview about the 15% lie.
Basically black candidates will poll 15 points better in public opinion polls than they do in the voting booth. Makes sense to me.

18.jpgThe article below talked about 30 percent of folks in NC said they would not vote for a black candidate under any circumstances, I believe this is true throughout the country.

This is not rocket science. 45 or 50 years ago there were millions of white folks taking their kids out of schools, keeping black kids from attending schools, refusing to serve black folks in restaurants and other crazy shit.
These people are now in their 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. These people vote.

You think a generation of crazy ass white people yelling obscenities at little kids entering a school has changes their stripes enough to actually vote for a nigga running for public office?
C’mon people tis not that hard to process

Don’t get mad at ole Snoop for pointing out the obvious.
I’m shocked I don’t see a political commercial that would contain the following:

“This is James Doe (black guy) a candidate for the United States Senate.”

(his photo stays on the screen for 20 seconds or more, NOTHING is said)

“you have been warned, vote Tim Doe in November”
  .

#########

By Nathan Burchfiel
CNSNews.com Correspondent - From October 2005(CNSNews.com) - The chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus on Friday urged his Capitol Hill colleagues to extend and strengthen the Voting Rights Act in order to “level the playing field” because, U.S. Rep. Melvin Watt said, “white people … will not consider voting for an African American candidate.”

Watt, a Democrat from North Carolina, made the remarks at a Washington hearing held by the National Commission on the Voting Rights Act. The commission, a project of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, is conducting nationwide hearings to gather data on voter discrimination for a report it will issue supporting the extension of the Voting Rights Act.

Watt told Cybercast News Service that his views are based on a 1980s blind poll of North Carolinians, which he said revealed that 30 percent of whites would not vote for a black candidate under any circumstances.

Watt told the commission that if another poll were conducted today, “there would be a substantial majority of white voters who would say that under no circumstances would they vote for an African American candidate.” He later amended his comments, allowing that “some of them would.”

The number of white Americans who would refuse to vote for a minority candidate is “decreasing,” Watt conceded, but he maintained that the Voting Rights Act should “adjust districts to take [racially motivated voting] into account.”

Voters refusing to vote for a minority candidate “need to be factored out of the equation,” according to Watt, because “I’ve got no use for them in the democratic process.”

Watt admitted that some black voters only cast ballots for black candidates, but said in those cases, the voters are exercising “preference,” which he said is different than “an absolute commitment” to cast a vote based on race.

“Black people have not had the luxury of being able to say, ‘Under no circumstances will I vote for a white candidate,’” Watt said.

However, he also advocated a race-based solution to the problem he described. The solution — expanding the Voting Rights Act to encourage minority candidate victories is “exactly the same thing” as citizens voting against a minority candidate, Watt said. “The only way to level the playing field is to take race into account on the other side.”

While much of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 is permanent, several sections periodically come up for renewal in Congress. Three provisions will expire in August 2007 if Congress does not extend them.

Section 5 requires jurisdictions in 16 states to obtain U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) approval if they want to change voting methods. Sections 6-9 authorize the DOJ to send federal observers to those jurisdictions to deter and report voter discrimination. Section 203 requires counties with significant numbers of non-English-speaking residents to provide translation assistance at all stages of the voting process.

The last time the provisions were reauthorized was 1982, when President Ronald Reagan extended them for 25 years.

Question for White Men: Who do you hate more Negros or Women?

Monday, April 21st, 2008

liberalmad.gif

A great example of how stupid and racist liberals are…

Here’s another thing I don’t like about this primary: now that there are only two Democratic candidates, it’s suddenly horribly absolutely crystal-clear that this is an election about gender and race. This may have always been true, but weeks ago it wasn’t so obvious — once upon a time there were eight candidates, and although six of them withered away, their presence in the campaign managed to obscure things. Even around the time of Ohio, when there were primarily three candidates, the outlines were murky, because Edwards was still in there, picking up votes from all sectors. But now there are two and we’re facing Pennsylvania and whom are we kidding? This is an election about whether the people of Pennsylvania hate blacks more than they hate women. And when I say people, I don’t mean people, I mean white men.

How ironic is this? After all this time, after all these stupid articles about how powerless white men are and how they can’t even get into college because of overachieving women and affirmative action and mean lady teachers who expected them to sit still in the third grade even though they were all suffering from terminal attention deficit disorder — after all this, they turn out (surprise!) to have all the power. (As they always did, by the way; I hope you didn’t believe any of those articles.)

One million high school dropouts in U.S. each year

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

school3.JPG

(article link) “When more than one million students a year drop out of high school, it’s more than a problem, it’s a catastrophe,” retired General Colin Powell, founder of America’s Promise Alliance. “It’s time for a national ‘call to arms,’ because we cannot afford to let nearly one-third of our kids fail.”His statement of urgency came during a press conference announcing the release of a study that details why nearly one in three U.S. high school students drops out before graduating and how his group plans to reverse the downward spiral of retention.

“Our economic and national security is at risk when we fail to educate the leaders and the workforce of the future,” added Mr. Powell, whose wife Mrs. Alma Powell serves as the chair of the Alliance.

“Cities in Crisis: A Special Analytic Report on High School Graduation,” prepared by Editorial Projects in Education Research Center, was released on April 1.

The study found urban schools in metropolitan areas surrounding 35 of the nation’s largest cities have lower graduation rates than schools in nearby suburban communities. Disparities in urban-suburban graduation rates had gaps as large as 35 percentage points in many cases. Approximately 1.2 million students drop out each year–about 7,000 every school day, or one every 26 seconds. Nearly half of all Black and Native American students are expected not to graduate with their classes, while less than six in 10 Hispanic students will.

“The number one predictor of a young person’s future success is whether they graduate from high school,” said Mrs. Powell. “But just conferring a diploma is not enough. Students today must graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in college, work and life. We must invest in the whole child, and that means finding solutions that involve the family, the school and the community.”

Why do students drop out? According to interviews conducted with high school dropouts by Civic Enterprises, nearly half of dropouts said the main reason they left school was because classes were not interesting. Nearly 70 percent said they were not motivated to work hard and two-thirds would have worked harder if more were demanded of them. Approximately one-third left for personal reasons (to get a job, become a parent…..

To become a parent?!! Was the mutherfucker who wrote this article high when he wrote it? To become a parent? Helloooo they were too busy knocking boots while playing hooky from school better known as “keep a nigga” sex which 9 months later means giving birth to a “keep a nigga” baby!

or care for a family member) and one-third cited “failing in school” as a major factor. Seventy percent were confident they could have graduated,

Oh so we are suppose believe that Lekisha Alazae Jenkins could have indeed graduated never mind the fact that “F” were dotting her report card for years.

including a majority with low GPAs, the study found. More than 80 percent said their chances of staying in school would have increased if classes were more interesting and provided opportunities for real-world learning. The majority said higher expectations from teachers and parents and improved supervision in the classroom would have helped keep them in school.

READ THE REST IF YOU WANT BUT WHY BOTHER

This same old shit about grasping at something anything to explain why Negros are falling further and further behind.
Not to beat down my daughter again but she is the best example of why this piece is bullshit.
She is 20, with second child on board, she is too fucken lazy to even get her GED.
She is not failing to get her education because of “lack of expectations” or opportunities. She is like too many of these Negro kids, they are simply fucking lazy.

What the fuck, do we scrap the public school system and hire individual tutors for each of these damm kids?
This article is basically saying “we need to throw more taxpayer money into these schools” and I’m thinking fuck that.

I’m sick of this shit. These kids are pissing away free education and totally ignoring the fact that “education equals freedom.”
You mean to tell me that looking at their nappy head welfare queen mom, sitting on her ass watching Judge Mathis is not motivation enough to decide for themselves that being a permanent welfare case and babies daddy chaser is not the future they want!

Back in the day it was illegal for Negros to be educated, it was amazing how they managed to find a way around that little hurdle.

Now these little juvenile delinquents droupouts are bitching that teachers, parents, society did not motivate them enough. Give me a fucken break!

Texas Polygamist Compound Moms Speak

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

You know folks as opinionated a dude as I am this is one of those issues where I can’t get a real grip on what I feel should be done.
On the one hand, having the government raid these folks domain is not something I totally agree with, particularly if you read the little article below where the phone call that precipitated the initial raid is a little shaky.

On the other hand if you watch the interview, these women are mentally retarded. I’m not sure if you were to ask them what year it is they could tell you. The moms have the mindset of a child.
Is mental capacity grounds for taking away someone child? Now these women deny abuse, but we all know it happens, however there is this thing called burden of proof.

There are shit loads of examples of single mothers who seemingly have all of their marbles, but exhibit their own examples of retardation by doing things like smoking or drinking during and after pregnancy, poor relationship choices, exposing the child to physical abuse, mismanaging their own lives ect.
The government simply can’t rescue every child from retarded parents.
So what’s the answer?
#######

Texas defends separation of polygamist sect kids from moms

Officials say children are doing well away from parents

########

Officials can’t make legal mistakes in polygamist case

(link) The recent raid on the polygamist retreat in Texas has many legal implications.Authorities in Texas apparently had been watching the compound for at least four years but had no cause to do anything about the alleged activities going on inside. That changed, they say, when they got a frantic phone call from a girl allegedly inside the compound. The girl told police she had been forced to marry a 50-year-old man and had been raped.

That was the probable cause they needed, authorities say, to go in and raid the compound. What they found was a large group of mostly women and children and several young pregnant girls. The group is reportedly part of the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints group.

The first legal question surrounds the alleged call and the true identity of the caller. She has yet to be located. Authorities likely are going to have to prove her existence in order to make any cases against the group stick.

Other legal concerns surround the separation of the young children from their mothers. Some women in the sect have said they were lied to about being separated from their children.

We expect there to be several legal challenges to this case. No matter how much outrage there is regarding polygamy and the idea of young girls being married off to older men, it’s important all aspects of the case follow the proper legal protocol.

FLDS practices polygamy in arranged marriages, sometimes between underage girls and older men. Over history, the group has been swept up in raids because of their lifestyle and their history.

This case will be another test for the age-old question of religious freedom versus exploitation of children.

For the children’s sake, authorities can’t afford for this case to fall apart because of any legal mistakes.

Report: Single parents, divorce cost TAXPAYERS $112B

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

singleparent1.jpgWASHINGTON, April 15 (UPI) – The high rate of divorce and unwed parenthood is costing U.S. taxpayers a minimum of $112 billion annually, a study in these areas indicated Tuesday.”This study documents for the first time, that divorce and unwed childbearing … are also costing taxpayers a ton of money,” David Blankenhorn, president of the Institute for American Values, said in a news release.

Four policy and research groups — Institute for American Values, Georgia Family Council, Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, and Families Northwest — collaborated on “The Taxpayer Costs of Divorce and Unwed Childbearing: First-Ever Estimates for the Nation and all 50 States,” presented at the National Press Club.

Several factors contributed to the costs, including anti-poverty, criminal justice and education programs, and lower taxes paid by adults “negatively affected by increased childhood poverty caused by family fragmentation,” said investigator Ben Scafidi, economics professor at Georgia College & State University.

“This report now provides the basis for a national consensus that strengthening marriage is a legitimate policy concern,” Blankenhorn said. “The report’s numbers represent an extremely cautious estimate … and have been vetted by a group of distinguished scholars and economists who have attached their names as advisers to this report.”

The Eligible-Bachelor Paradox

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

helldate.jpg

It is a truth universally acknowledged that the available, sociable, and genuinely attractive man is a character highly in demand in social settings. Dinner hosts are always looking for the man who fits all the criteria. When they don’t find him (often), they throw up their hands and settle for the sociable but unattractive, the attractive but unsociable, and, as a last resort, for the merely available. The shortage of appealing men is a century-plus-old commonplace of the society melodrama.
