MLK monument outsourced, critics say

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

mlkingphoto75.jpgBy Mitchell Landsberg - Los Angeles Times

CHANGSHA, CHINA - Someday, a great monument in Washington may bear the name of Lei Yixin. For now, you can find him down a pockmarked road in a grungy industrial suburb of this Chinese provincial capital. The monument won’t be built to honor Lei, who is scarcely famous in his own hometown, much less the United States. It is being built in memory of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and will rise along Washington’s Tidal Basin, between the Jefferson and Lincoln memorials. Lei’s role will be to carve the statue of King that will be the centerpiece of the tribute. His selection as sculptor for the prominent memorial honoring the civil rights leader has outraged some who believe that an African American, or at least an American, should have gotten the job.’This is an AMERICAN monument - not a Communist Chinese one!!’ declared one entry in a website, kingisours.com, that is devoted to the controversy. Said another, ‘Can I just say one word? ‘Outsourcing.’ ‘ The outcry over the King statue recalls an earlier uproar over the choice of a young Asian American sculptor, Maya Lin, to design the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. In the case of the King statue, critics of Lei have received a boost from CNN’s Lou Dobbs, who recently asked David Hamilton, a member of the committee who picked the sculptor, ‘What in the world were you folks thinking?’

A prominent African American sculptor who says he was pushed aside in favor of Lei believes he knows the answer. The sculptor, Ed Dwight, who also holds the distinction of being America’s first black astronaut, says the backers of the King memorial told him they hoped the choice of a Chinese sculptor would persuade the Chinese government to give $25 million to the King memorial fund, which has a target of $100 million.

J.K. Rowling is a Conservative

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

hp.jpgFrom the blog Gay Patriot
I have not read a single Harry Potter book, (ya know black folks don’t read….just kidding…slightly) but Mrs. Snoop has, so I wonder if she or daughter-in-law Misty would agree with this:

********

Until just a few minutes ago, I was under the spell of the last of the Harry Potter books and expect to post something on that in a few minutes — or maybe a hour or so. All I can say is “WOW!” I guessed some things right (but also got a lot wrong) about certain characters. Still, I couldn’t put the book down and wanted to finish it before I heard the ending from anyone else. Not only does she borrow images, characters and expression from mythologiy, but more importantly, Rowling borrows great themes from these ancient stories.

Pehaps, someone in my graduate program should write a dissertation on the Harry Potter series as myth — as I had once considered writing such a thesis about The Lord of the Rings.

And with her story, we see that Rowling is a conservative, if not in name, at least in her philosophy. Thematically, she has much, oh so much, in common with C.S. Lewis.

Some people need to get a life

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Here is an e-mail comment from a You Tube user who was persistent and kept e-mailing me so that I would commit to debate her about Rosie’s video diatribe or anything else political.
I received countless e-mails from individuals like her, who are offended by my offensive language and name calling and “juvenile” responses.

Ever since I have had this damm blog up and my You Tube videos I get these e-mail responses from people as if they have some responsibility to God almighty to reform or sensor me.

People, I don’t get it, I don’t understand the need for people to send me responses to complain about what (I) am saying.
Do I not have freedom of speech? Am I not entitled to say whatever the fuck I want on my own blog?
If this were my house, am I not entitled to scratch my balls, fart, belch, pee in the shower if need be without being micromanaged by a bunch of sad sack people who don’t have shit else to do besides try to shape the people of the world in their own image.

I have NEVER e-mailed anybody because I wanted them to change their opinion, to change the way they said something, to suggest that the “should have not said that” or maybe you should look at your position another way, because frankly I don’t dive a fuck why you came to the conclusion you did on anything because I don’t know you, I don’t know your particular view of life, what you have experienced, your trials and tribulations.

Do I not have the right to be wrong? Do I not have the right to make a fucken idiot out of myself as long as it does not affect anyone or cause them harm?
Am I not allowed to use the screen name Snoop, can I indeed be black, can I indeed be conservative? Am I not allowed to call people I disagree with a fucken idiot until they have proven otherwise, even if it does not meet your approval?

I am posting the response of this individual who obviously did not have shit else to do but to bother me. All the fucken people on You Tube, all the fucken people who have blogs for some reason I solicited the pestering responses.
So I had Mrs. Snoop respond to her, but that still was not enough as she claimed I did not like or was scared of strong women.
You know what examples of strong women she gave (Hillary, Rosie, Janeane Garofalo, Martha Stewart).
Lets review shall we Hillary trying to become president on the momentum of her husband. Rosie a fat retard with the mental capacity of a 10 year old, Garofalo? A comic hack and liberal activist who failed as did every other liberal on Air America.
Martha Stewart, she is a damm decorating queen, why would I give a damm!?

Does this individual not get how egotistical, elitist and self centered she must be as to try and lecture me on my decorum and my way of thinking and my way of expressing myself?

This blog is not to win over people or try to influence them; this blog is about ME, my feeling and opinions. If you have a problem with it, then fuck off, seriously people get a clue.

If you want to change the world for the better, go feed the homeless, go tutor some children, join Habitat for Humanity, work in an after school program, go call a long lost relative, write a letter to your mother or father.
If you for a second believe that writing some dude name Snoop and chastising him for his online demeanor is the best use of your time, then you really have a screwed up life and professional help is in order.

Democracy or liberty?

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

democracy.jpgDoes democracy really deserve the praise it receives? According to Webster’s Dictionary, democracy is defined as “government by the people; especially: rule of the majority.” What’s so great about majority rule? Let’s look at majority rule, as a decisionmaking tool, and ask how many of our choices we would like settled by what a majority likes.

Would you want the kind of car you own to be decided through a democratic process, or would you prefer purchasing any car you please? Ask that question about decisions such as where you live, what clothes you purchase, what food you eat, what entertainment you enjoy and what wines you drink. I’m sure if anyone suggested these choices be subject to a democratic process, you would deem it tyranny.

I’m not alone in seeing democracy as a variant of tyranny. James Madison, the Father of our Constitution, said that in a pure democracy, “there is nothing to check the inducement to sacrifice the weaker party or the obnoxious individual.” At the 1787 Constitutional Convention, Edmund Randolph said, ” that in tracing these evils to their origin every man had found it in the turbulence and follies of democracy.” John Adams said, “Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

16×20angrymonkeysuit6gv.jpgCouple of reads from Right Wing News

Saving The Planet, Limousine Liberal Style

“What Mr. Gore has asked is that every family calculate their carbon footprint and try to reduce it as much as possible. Once they have done so, he then advocates that they purchase offsets, as the Gore’s do, to bring their footprint down to zero.” — Al Gore

First, you try to reduce how much energy you are using (which is fine) and then you pay some scam artist to “bring (your) footprint down to zero.

In other words, if you are a greenie like Al Gore, you can spend your days lecturing other Americans about their energy consumption and global warming while simultaneously using 20 times as much energy as the average person. Yet, because you’re rich enough to spend money on “carbon reduction” AKA as paying people to assuage your guilt, your energy usage isn’t supposed to count somehow. Even the less deluded liberals realize that’s complete bunkum.

Theme park calls off “Muslim Fun Day”, now that’s funny!!

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

terrorfunride.jpgLONDON (Reuters) - Britain’s biggest theme park has called off the country’s first “National Muslim Fun Day” because of lack of interest, the park said Wednesday.
Alton Towers in central England was to open on September 17 for Muslims — with halal food, a strict dress code and prayer areas.
Music, gambling and alcohol were to be banned for the day and theme park rides such as “Ripsaw,” “Corkscrew” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” all segregated by sex.
But the park said the event’s organizers, Islamic Leisure, who rented the park for the day and were marketing the event, had called it off due to “insufficient ticket sales.”
“Alton Towers is disappointed that the planned Family Fun Day Sunday 17th September has had to be canceled,” the park said in a statement. A park spokeswoman said Islamic Leisure would refund those who bought tickets.
Islamic Leisure’s phones were not being answered on Wednesday.
Organizers had hoped to fill a niche for Britain’s 1.7 million Muslims, some of whom may be uncomfortable with mainstream entertainment.
But the fun day had caused some consternation: a non-Muslim couple scheduled to hold their wedding at the park’s hotel complained to newspapers that event organizers told them the bride and female guests would have to cover up. (what kind of shit is that!)
The park promised the party would be exempt from the rules. A park spokeswoman said the wedding would take place as planned.

Farrakhan courts Navajo Nation

Promises foreign money to rescue native Americans

INDIANS.jpg

2006 WorldNetDaily.com

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is courting native American tribes to unite with other non-whites in the U.S. and around the world to seek what he describes as “the common destiny of the Original People.”
In a meeting last month with the Navajo Nation Council in Arizona, Farrakhan promised foreign investment in building the infrastructure of a new, productive, united native American nation within the U.S.
“American should be ashamed after taking the land from the indigenous people, that they would allow the indigenous people to have oil on this land, gas coming through it, electricity flowing over it and indigenous people on the land living in darkness without heat or without water,” he said. “This is criminal. Therefore it takes strong leadership. You must not be fearful because your ancestors were not afraid of the hostility of the environment politically.”
He told the tribe it was time to stop living on the dole – waiting for handouts from the U.S. government.
“You are a nation,” he said. “President (Joe) Shirley (of the Navajo Nation) said to me that, if you borrowed money from the U.S. government, he feels you could pay it back at least $30 million a year. If the U.S. government does not want to loan you the money to give yourself a push, there are foreign nations of your kith and kin that will not only loan you the money, they might give you the money, in order to see the Navajo Nation rise and not be dependent on casinos, but be dependent on what you produce. You have great intelligence among you. You are not an ignorant people. Tap your resources and then establish friendships all around the world.”  - READ FULL ARTICLE
