Wasilla Paper: Under Mayor Palin, Rape Victims Charged for Own Forensic Tests
An interesting catch by the folks over at AMERICAblog. They found an article from the Wasilla newspaper dated May 23, 2000, that notes the city of Wasilla was one of a few Alaskan municipalities that charged women claiming to have been raped for their own forensic tests. As you probably know by now, Sarah Palin was mayor of Wasilla from 1996-2002.
[Governor Tony Knowles] signed House Bill 270… The new law makes it illegal for any law enforcement agency to bill victims or victims insurance companies for the costs of examinations that take place to collect evidence of a sexual assault or determine if a sexual assault did occur…
While the Alaska State Troopers and most municipal police agencies have covered the cost of exams, which cost between $300 to $1,200 apiece, the Wasilla police department does charge the victims of sexual assault for the tests.
Wasilla Police Chief Charlie Fannon does not agree with the new legislation, saying the law will require the city and communities to come up with more funds to cover the costs of the forensic exams.
“In the past we’ve charged the cost of exams to the victims insurance company when possible. I just don’t want to see any more burden put on the taxpayer,” Fannon said.
In the article, Fannon admits that halting the practice of charging alleged rape victims for their own tests would cost the city… wait for it… $5,000 to $14,000 a year.

Since Sarah Palin exploded onto the national scene a week ago, the American Left, including Obama’s press team AKA the mainstream media, has engaged in a bizarre orgy of sexism, misogyny, and grotesque attacks on her family. Let’s see, we’ve heard accusations that Sarah Palin, while she was governor this year, actually faked a pregnancy to cover up for her seventeen-year-old daughter Bristol — no, really, liberals pushed this story for days. Then after Palin revealed that Bristol is pregnant now and therefore couldn’t have been pregnant earlier in the year, the mainstream press spent a week cruelly using a 17 year-old-girl as a political pawn to get at her mother.
Then there were the Left’s claims that Palin had posed for nude pictures and their suggestion that her first son must have been born out of wedlock. Of course, we also can’t forget the fake bikini shots.
Additionally, the Left has also focused on Palin’s husband and brought up a drunk driving conviction he had 20 years ago (We have heard more about that from the MSM than the fact that Obama has done cocaine) and the Associated Press went so far as to say that Palin’s family are valid targets because they’re in photo-ops.
All this is on top of the fact that we’ve been treated to a full week of claims that a woman who is more qualified to be President than Barack Obama is too inexperienced to be John McCain’s Vice-President and worse yet, we’ve heard loud mouths opining that Sarah Palin can’t both run for Vice-President and be a good mother.
On top of all that, despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of conservatives seemed to be absolutely thrilled with the selection of Sarah Palin, liberals spent much of the week running “when did you stop beating your wife stories” speculating about whether Palin had been vetted or whether McCain would drop her from the ticket.
That’s quite a change from the near worshipful coverage Barack Obama has gotten from the media for being the first black man to head the Democratic ticket or even the fawning reportage that Nancy Pelosi received when she became the first female Speaker of the House, isn’t it?

I know I have a very warped sense of humor, but this hysteria is just so funny on so many levels.
Folks it is amazing, it’s almost like a funeral for liberals this morning. These folks are sad and desponded.
A couple of my co-workers who are hard core liberals said point blank that they are worried that “all Palin did last night was to introduce Rove gutter politics into the campaign,” I just laughed and smiled.
You folks I know remember what it was like when Kerry lost how seriously depressed liberals were and how they wanted to go to Canada.
Man just think, this election was in the bag, it was inevitable, all of us on the right conceded the White House to the Democrats, shit if it were possible we might have just said, hell we don’t need a campaign and just said ok you guys take the keys why waste the American folks time.
Folks this campaign is over unless the left can expose some really crazy off the wall shit on Palin or McCain calls someone a nigger on the campaign trail this race is over.
Psychiatric wards will soon be filled with deranged people like this Daily Kos idiot.

Here is the Huffington Post story about this, which leads with the story angle that John McCain’s presidential campaign is threatening a lawsuit against the National Enquirer over this, but the more important take away item for me in this Huff Post story is that there is more yet to come from the National Enquirer about Palin’s extramarital affair:
The allegation would normally be dismissed by political observers as the random musings of a supermarket tabloid — indeed, the McCain campaign said as much in its statements on Wednesday — except that the paper has built up a reservoir of legitimacy following its earlier reporting on the John Edwards affair.

After last night’s ugly display of mean-spirited nasty hardball being played at the Republican National Convention, I have absolutely no problem with diarying about and playing up Palin’s extramarital affair here now.
The National Enquirer stories about the John Edwards affair, though hard to take, were on the money, and these stories pretty much destroyed Edwards’ political career. That is because John Edwards denied his affair so much, that when it finally broke, it fell like a ton of bricks on him and crushed him.
And that is exactly what I now want to see happen to Palin.
If this story about Palin’s extramarital affair is true, I want to see her & McCain absolutely crushed & destroyed by it, because Palin was Dobson’s pick to be the GOP ticket’s standard bearer for sexual morality.
If Palin is just another phony judgemental GOP sexual moralist like Larry Craig or David Vitter, then I want to see her nailed to the wall NOW.
If this story is true, it will destroy the McCain candidacy, period.
As the Connecticut delegation was getting off a bus near the Xcel Center, a group of protesters broke free from authorities and attacked the delegates.
Connecticut delegate Rob Simmons told FOX 9 that a group of protesters came toward his delegation and tried to rip the credentials off their necks and sprayed them with a toxic substance.
The unknown substance burned their eyes and stained their clothes.
One 80-year-old member of the delegation had to be treated for injuries, and several other delegates had to rinse their eyes and clothing.

In that Fox interview that Rich linked to, Ayers preposterously claimed that he and his fellow Weather Underground terrorists did not really intend to harm any people — the fact that no one was killed in their 20 or so bombings was, he said, “by design”; they only wanted to cause property damage:
Between October 1969 and September 1973, the Weather Underground claimed credit for some twenty bombings across the country, in which no one was harmed — save the three cell members who perished in a Greenwich Village townhouse in March 1970, when one of their creations detonated prematurely. Ayers claimed the fact that no other individuals were killed as a result of the Weathermen’s actions was “by design.”
In his autobiography, Fugitive Days: A Memoir, Ayers recalled, he posed the question: “How far are you willing to take that step into what I consider the abyss of violence? And we really never did, except for that moment in the townhouse.… I actually think destroying property in the face of that kind of catastrophe is so — restrained. And I don’t see it as a big deal.
Right.
First of all, “that moment in the townhouse” he’s talking about happened in 1970. Three of his confederates, including his then girlfriend Diana Oughton, were accidentally killed when the explosive they were building to Ayers specifications (Ayers was a bomb designer) went off during construction. As noted in Ayers’ Discover the Networks profile, the explosive had been a nail bomb. Back when Ayers was being more honest about his intentions, he admitted that the purpose of that bomb had been to murder United States soldiers:
That bomb had been intended for detonation at a dance that was to be attended by army soldiers at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Hundreds of lives could have been lost had the plan been successfully executed. Ayers attested that the bomb would have done serious damage, “tearing through windows and walls and, yes, people too.”

Kurtz is in Chicago to review the documents and will report tonight on his findings for two hours on Chicago station WGN’s Milt Rosenberg Show. In the interview, conducted three years after the September 11 attacks, Ayers argued the U.S. government had carried out “many other acts of terror … even recently, that are comparable,” and claimed he and his bomb-planting comrades were “restrained” in their actions.
Ayers, now a professor at the University of Illinois, Chicago, served with Barack Obama on the board of the charitable Woods Fund of Chicago for three years and helped launch Obama’s political career in Illinois by hosting in his Hyde Park home an informal campaign event for the future state senator in 1995.
Ayers claimed the Weathermen were driven by “hope and love,” not despair, and said he did not think the group’s violent acts, targeting federal officials and local law enforcement officers, were “a big deal.”

William Ayres On His Time in the Weather Underground
The Obama campaign is giving a glimpse of the future for conservative free speech. They’re trying to sic the Justice Department on TV stations, many of them Sinclair Broadcasting stations, that are airing the independent ad on Obama and Bill Ayers.
Barack Obama is striking back fiercely and swiftly to stamp out an ad that links him to a 1960s radical, eager to demonstrate a far more aggressive response to attacks than John Kerry did when faced with the 2004 “Swift Boat” campaign.
Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene. The campaign also planned to compel advertisers to pressure stations that continue to air the anti-Obama commercial.
It’s the type of going-for-the-jugular approach to politics many Democrats complain that Kerry lacked and that Republicans exploit.
Obama’s target is an ad by the conservative American Issues Project, a nonprofit group that questions Obama’s ties to Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground organization that took credit for a series of bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol four decades ago. ..
… Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said Obama supporters have inundated stations that are airing the ad, many of them owned by Sinclair Communications, with 93,000 e-mails. He called the ad false, despicable and outrageous.
“Other stations that follow Sinclair’s lead should expect a similar response from people who don’t want the political discourse cheapened with these false, negative attacks,” Vietor said.

A Terrorist Founded It. Obama Was It’s Chairman
That’s all some need to know about the Chicago Annenburg Challenge.Others may want more details explaining why Barack Obama directly lied about the extent of his involvement with Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers, founder of the Challenge. Obama has claimed that Ayers was just “a guy who lives in my neighborhood,” which isn’t even close to being true. Obama has had a relationship with Ayers since at least 1987…roughly as long of a relationship as he’s had with racist conspiracy theorist Jeremiah Wright, lynching advocate Michael Fleger, and the other far left liberals, Marxist-Leninists, and SDS veterans that make up Obama’s base of power in the infamously corrupt world of Chicago Democratic politics.

The problem of Barack Obama’s relationship with Bill Ayers will not go away. Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn were terrorists for the notorious Weather Underground during the turbulent 1960s, turning fugitive when a bomb — designed to kill army officers in New Jersey — accidentally exploded in a New York townhouse. Prior to that, Ayers and his cohorts succeeded in bombing the Pentagon. Ayers and Dohrn remain unrepentant for their terrorist past. Ayers was pictured in a 2001 article for Chicago magazine, stomping on an American flag, and told the New York Times just before 9/11 that the notion of the United States as a just and fair and decent place “makes me want to puke.” Although Obama actually launched his political career at an event at Ayers’s and Dohrn’s home, Obama has dismissed Ayers as just “a guy who lives in my neighborhood,” and “not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis.” For his part, Ayers refuses to discuss his relationship with Obama.
Although the press has been notably lax about pursuing the matter, the full story of the Obama-Ayers relationship calls the truth of Obama’s account seriously into question. When Obama made his first run for political office, articles in both the Chicago Defender and the Hyde Park Herald featured among his qualifications his position as chairman of the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a foundation where Ayers was a founder and guiding force. Obama assumed the Annenberg board chairmanship only months before his first run for office, and almost certainly received the job at the behest of Bill Ayers. During Obama’s time as Annenberg board chairman, Ayers’s own education projects received substantial funding. Indeed, during its first year, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge struggled with significant concerns about possible conflicts of interest. With a writ to aid Chicago’s public schools, the Annenberg challenge played a deeply political role in Chicago’s education wars, and as Annenberg board chairman, Obama clearly aligned himself with Ayers’s radical views on education issues. With Obama heading up the board and Ayers heading up the other key operating body of the Annenberg Challenge, the two would necessarily have had a close working relationship for years (therefore “exchanging ideas on a regular basis”). So when Ayers and Dorhn hosted that kickoff for the first Obama campaign, it was not a random happenstance, but merely further evidence of a close and ongoing political partnership. Of course, all of this clearly contradicts Obama’s dismissal of the significance of his relationship with Ayers.
This much we know from the public record, but a large cache of documents housed in the Richard J. Daley Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), is likely to flesh out the story. That document cache contains the internal files of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. The records in question are extensive, consisting of 132 boxes, containing 947 file folders, a total of about 70 linear feet of material. Not only would these files illuminate the working relationship between Obama and Bill Ayers, they would also provide significant insight into a web of ties linking Obama to various radical organizations, including Obama-approved foundation gifts to political allies. Obama’s leadership style and abilities are also sure to be illuminated by the documents in question.
Howard Dean slammed the GOP as racist this week, scoffing: “If you look at folks of color, even women, they’re more successful in the Democratic party than they are in the white, uh, excuse me, in the [laughs] Republican party.” As Allahpundit reminds us, The Screamer has engaged in this racial demagoguery before. Although I read a lot of crazy shit on the web this is one of the few story subjects that truly scares me because most folks will simply gloss over this.

47% of Americans believe that the United States Government should be involved in forcing ALL television and Radio Stations to offer equal amounts of conservative and liberal commentary. Only 39% oppose it. Last year, the numbers were evenly divided at 41% for and an equal number against.
I swear I’m not generally a conspiracy theorist but I can see the day when conservative talk shows like Rush will be forced off the radio and onto some other sort of broadcast platform particularly if Obama is elected and if the Democrats gain significant traction in the House and Senate in November.

What is now commonplace and expected at American universities happened again on Sunday. Intolerant Leftist protesters ambushed conservative Karl Rove during his speech at the University of Iowa. They also attacked an 84 year-old veteran who came to listen to Rove speak.
As it is, members of our armed forces who put their lives on the line to defend America are also defending people like too many in Berkeley for whom the very word America, and the American flag, bring only sneers.Unfortunately, Berkeley is not unique. A professor at Harvard who put an American flag on his car after 9-11 provoked looks of astonishment from his colleagues. They wondered what was wrong with him.All across the country, there are professors who push for keeping military recruiters off campus and for banning ROTC. Apparently if they don’t like the military, then other people — such as students — should not be allowed to make up their own minds whether they want to join or not.
Liberals in general, and academics in particular, like to boast of their open-mindedness and acceptance of non-conformity. But they mean not conforming to the norms of society at large.
They have little or no tolerance to those who do not conform to the norms of academic political correctness. Nowhere else in America is free speech so restricted as on academic campuses with speech codes.
In Berkeley, as elsewhere, the left has learned to cloak their anti-military intolerance with the magic words, “We support the troops.” The liberal media use the same line when they undermine the military.
In this, as in other things, the flagship of the media is the New York Times. Unsubstantiated charges against American troops in Iraq are front page news but incredible acts of heroism in battle are seldom reported there, if at all.
Although things go wrong in every war, things that went wrong in Iraq — whether large or small — have been front page news in the New York Times. But when the military surge was followed by things going right, the Iraq war was suddenly no longer front page news.
Back during the Vietnam war, the media criticized the American military for their emphasis on enemy casualties or “body count.” Today the media have been fixated on American body count.
What has been accomplished by the troops who lost their lives in battle has been of no interest to those who claim to be “supporting the troops.”

A zero is complete hatred, while 100 means adoration. In general, when presented with people or groups about which they have neutral feelings, respondents give temperatures of about 70. Forty is a cold temperature, and 20 is absolutely freezing.In 2004, the University of Michigan’s American National Election Studies (ANES) survey asked about 1,200 American adults to give their thermometer scores of various groups. People in this survey who called themselves “conservative” or “very conservative” did have a fairly low opinion of liberals — they gave them an average thermometer score of 39. The score that liberals give conservatives: 38. Looking only at people who said they are “extremely conservative” or “extremely liberal,” the right gave the left a score of 27; the left gives the right an icy 23. So much for the liberal tolerance edge.
Some might argue that this is simply a reflection of the current political climate, which is influenced by strong feelings about the current occupants of the White House. And sure enough, those on the extreme left give President Bush an average temperature of 15 and Vice President Cheney a 16. Sixty percent of this group gives both men the absolute lowest score: zero.
To put this into perspective, note that even Saddam Hussein (when he was still among the living) got an average score of eight from Americans. The data tell us that, for six in ten on the hard left in America today, literally nobody in the entire world can be worse than George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
PETA moonbats’ contempt for the dead doesn’t end with the dogs and cats they kill and then illegally toss into other people’s dumpsters. They also desecrate graves. From PETA’s own website:
Visitors to Louisville’s Cave Hill Cemetery—the final resting place of KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders—will notice a new headstone just a stone’s throw away from the colonel’s. The new headstone is inscribed with a moving tribute to a “Kind Friend of Chickens,” but upon closer examination, the bright-red letters down the left side of the poem spell out an unmistakable message: “KFC Tortures Birds.”
The phony headstone is the handiwork of Matt Prescott, “who spearheads PETA’s international Kentucky Fried Cruelty campaign.”
At least the vandals who knock over headstones or spray-paint swastikas on them don’t subject us to sanctimonious propaganda about the plight of chickens.
Global Warming Will Save America from the Right…Eventually

Wow Global Warming terrorist liberals want to drown right wing folks.
This crazy commentary is not a shock to me but I’m amazed that someone is nutty enough to publish what liberal really think.
The area that will by completely inundated by the rising ocean—and not in a century but in the lifetime of my two cats—are the American southeast, including the most populated area of Texas, almost all of Florida, most of Louisiana, and half of Alabama and Mississippi, as well as goodly portions of eastern Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.While the northeast will also see some coastal flooding, its geography is such that that aside from a few projecting sandbars like Long Island and Cape Cod, the land rises fairly quickly to well above sea level. Sure, Boston, New York and Philadelphia will be threatened, but these are geographically confined areas that could lend themselves to protection by Dutch-style dikes.
The West Coast too tends to rise rapidly to well above sea level in most places.
Only down in Southern California towards the San Diego area is the ground closer to sea level.
So what we see is that huge swaths of conservative America are set to face a biblical deluge in a few more presidential cycles.
David Paul Kuhn at The Politico reports this morning that liberal Democrats still remain hesitant about describing themselves as “liberals”:
Hillary Rodham Clinton was asked this summer if she would describe herself as a “liberal.”The Democratic front-runner shied away, saying the “word” — noticeably not using the word — has taken on a connotation that “describes big government.
“I prefer the word ‘progressive,’” she said. It has a “real American meaning.”
Then she expanded the term to “modern progressive,” and, finally, clarified that she was a “modern American progressive.”
