Things are starting to get out-of-control in terms of the “hate” the McCain campaign is beginning to encourage. I’ve seen clips of McCain and/or Palin rallies where the audience clearly shouts “Kill him!” “Terrorist!” and more. Last night on Larry King, of the three republicans on the panel, TWO of the three expressed strong embarrassment at the tactics being used. To me, they were clearly concerned about possible hate acts resulting from getting people worked up in this manner, and wanted to distance themselves now from what they see as a potential hideous act. How will Republicans feel if this hate-mongering results in an assassination? I think they need to think about this, and what this would mean for the COUNTRY, whether or not you agree with Obama’s policies. I think we can ALL agree that what happened to Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King were bad for this country in a fundamental and extremely significant sense, whatever our ideological background.
I’m not holding my breath in these last desperate weeks waiting for an end to it, but Brave New Films and The Color of Change are calling for McCain/Palin to condemn the hate and fearmongering being perpetrated by those angry mobs of supporters. They stoked the fires and now we see this:

Barack Obama with terrorism, questioning his patriotism and portraying Mr. Obama as “not one of us,” I accuse you of deliberately feeding the most unhinged elements of our society the red meat of hate, and therefore of potentially instigating violence.”
Don’t let McCain and Palin undo the decades spent fighting for civil rights and equality in our country.
It was revealed Monday that Democrat Congressman Tim Mahoney (D-Fl.), the man who replaced Mark Foley (R-Fl.) in 2007 after the latter resigned for having sent e-mail solicitations to male pages, has been caught in his own sex scandal with a former mistress who used to work for him.
Given the extraordinary irony involved in the man who campaigned on bringing back to his district “a world that is safer, more moral” now being caught in a seedy affair of his own, one has to wonder just how much attention the Obama-loving press will give to this matter three weeks before Election Day.
This seems especially important given the many weeks of constant media focus Foley’s scandal was given prior to the 2006 elections, and just how much that assisted Democrats in winning back the Congress.

On Sunday, when Rep. John Lewis elastically compared John McCain to the KKK bombers of a Birmingham church, the bland, indirect Washington Post headline was “Issue of Race Creeps Into Campaign.” On Monday, picking up on a Time magazine report that Virginia Republican Party chair Jeff Frederick compared Obama to Osama bin Laden to campaign volunteers – “both have friends that bombed the Pentagon” – the Post used the direct headline: “GOP Head Compares Obama to bin Laden.”
The story was by reporter Tim Craig. To Post junkies, this is amusing or sickening, depending on your point of view. Craig was one of two Post political reporters who spent 2006 making an enormous mountain out of George Allen’s utterance of “macaca.” Now he’s suggesting that a friendship and Obama’s working relationship with an unrepentant terrorist is unfair campaign grist.

had been intending to post an answer to the ongoing — and quickly escalating — ACORN smears being issued of late by the GOP enemies of democracy out there, who have decided to intensify their unsubstantiated assaults on the community organization, given its effectiveness at registering millions of low-income voters across the country.
Today’s incredible raid of an ACORN office in Las Vegas — in hotly contested Nevada, as coincidence would have it — has forced me to push this to the top of the heap right now. I’ve also posted ACORN’s statement on today’s nonsense in Vegas at the end of this article. Note to corporate media: Be sure not to read or report on that part of the story!
With prospects looking bleak for the Republicans this November, pulling out the old ACORN lie — in hopes of scaring people away from the polls, causing chaos in November by challenging voters when they show up to vote, and putting in place baseless grounds to contest close results later on (when the GOP become “sore losers”) — is just about all they have left at this point.
Doubtless you’ve heard the smears by now: that ACORN is committing “voter fraud,” on behalf of Obama, in hotly contested swing states. The media have been all too happy to pass that garbage on, without bothering to note that, in fact, the organization attempts to authenticate every registration form its workers submit and by law they must turn in every form to election officials — even if they find a registration to be fraudulent when they call the phone number submitted on the form, or if the forms are otherwise suspect or incomplete.
They do so, and they flag all questionable registration forms as being suspect before turning them in to officials.
The thanks they receive for registering millions of new voters that nobody else has bothered with, and for notifying officials about questionable registration forms when they turn them in, is that the GOP’s democracy-hating propagandists and election officials run to the media shouting, “ACORN is committing voter fraud! They’ve turned in hundreds and thousands of fraudulent registration forms!”
Of course they have. They have to. By law. But what those GOP despots of democracy always forget to mention is that it was ACORN themselves who notified officials about the potentially fraudulent and/or incomplete forms in the first place!…
So the GOP is going after ACORN again. Some things never change. If it weren’t for all the low-income voters who were purged from the rolls or who went home without voting after standing in line for hours, would George W. Bush even be sitting in the White House? I don’t think so. The GOP theory has seemingly always been that if low income folks vote, the GOP loses.
In their ongoing effort to keep people from voting in November, Republicans have stepped up attacks on ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (they really do hate community organizers), over their voter registration efforts in conjunction with Project Vote.
Nevada state officials on Tuesday morning raided the Las Vegas office of ACORN as part of an investigation into alleged voter fraud by the organization which conducts voter registration drives nationally in its work with low-income communities.
About seven agents from the offices of the Nevada Secretary of State and Attorney General served a search warrant and removed boxes and computers after being admitted by the landlord, said Bob Walsh, spokesman for Secretary of State Ross Miller. No ACORN staff was present during the raid, he said. Walsh would not describe what prompted the search….
In July, the two Nevada state agencies involved in the raid, along with the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office for Nevada, formed a task force to target voter registration and election fraud and complaints over voter registration practices, potential voter fraud, and enforcement of laws regarding voter intimidation. The federal agents were not part of Tuesday’s search, Walsh said.

Perry told the press he is already writing, and plans to direct and produce as soon as late this year, a love story inspired by the relationship between Obama and his wife Michelle. (Perry has said he dreams of casting Denzel Washington and Angela Bassett in the lead roles.) It’s not known if the Obamas are cooperating with the film, but the idea occurred to Perry after he heard their story when he had dinner with the couple as well as from his close pal, Oprah Winfrey, who is Obama’s biggest showbiz supporter.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has directed nearly $100,000 from her political action committee to her husband’s real estate and investment firm over the past decade, a practice of paying a spouse with political donations that she supported banning last year.
Here’s the thing: Paul Pelosi is loaded. He does not even need the money. The Pelosi’s are rich. Nonetheless, Nancy is funneling campaign contributions into her own bank account via her husband.
That is, in effect, what this is. She can’t use the money personally, so she is flowing it via her campaign into her husband’s pocket, who deposits it into the family bank account at the end of the day.

Sarah Palin is Clarence Thomas 2008. Back when Clarence Thomas was nominated to the United States Supreme Court, the liberal civil rights coalitions and the Drive-By Media mobilized against Clarence Thomas for one reason: He was profoundly qualified, but he showed blacks, minorities, and every American that you could become something in this country. Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards is pulling the plug on a scholarship program he started at an Eastern North Carolina high school — a program he once promised would be a model for the nation under an Edwards presidency.

Edwards said he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby’s birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.

The committee hosting the Democratic National Convention has used the city’s gas pumps to fill up and apparently avoided paying state and federal fuel taxes.
The practice, which began four months ago, may have ended hours after its disclosure. An aide to Mayor John Hickenlooper released a statement Tuesday evening saying that Denver 2008 Host Committee members would pay market prices for fuel and would also be liable for all applicable taxes.
After all this Mickey Kaus blathering about MSM gatekeepers censoring the news and preventing the reader from learning “what happened yesterday” (or, at this point, last week), it’s wonderful to see the citizen-journalists and crowdsourced new guardians of information acting just as ridiculously about this supposed John Edwards scandal.
Fox News confirmed the visit. But none of this meets Wikipedia’s high standards of notability! You could go over there and add “In July of 2008, Edwards was confronted at a Beverly Hills hotel by National Enquirer reporters searching for evidence of his participation in an extra-martial affair”—all true and verified by more “reliable” sources!—and it wouldn’t last two minutes. (Actually you couldn’t add that. The entry has been locked.) It’s not notable enough for them, apparently. Though this is. And hell, so is this!

Oh man, weren’t we done with this guy? When did everybody know he had affairs and mistresses?We knew in October — if by “knew” you mean we posted some crap that the National Enquirer “reported” and the Huffington Post repeated. But now, suddenly, it seems there might be a pretty good prime-time speech slot open on probably Tuesday at the Democratic Convention, because John-John’s got (an alleged) love child!
The important question is not “Why is John Edwards cheating on his wife who had cancer?” We know that answer: He’s a Democratic politician. They have affairs with ladies. The important question is “Why do we have to hear about this againnow?”
Details, according to the National Enquirer: Edwards was in L.A. on Monday, to do some homelessness event with cheating LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Then Edwards was spotted that night, sneaking into the Beverly Hilton, supposedly where his mistress had two rooms rented. Then he tried to sneak out, at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday morning. And the tabloid reporters chased him into a restroom, and the security chased off the tabloid reporters, the end?
The Japanese love monkeys. They use monkeys in commercials constantly. Heck, Speed Racer, which started out as a Japanese cartoon in the 1960s, even has a monkey character. It’s a Japanese thing we Americans just don’t understand.
All that to say that it seems somewhat over-the-top that some African-Americans living in Japan would’ve gotten so dyspeptic that a Japanese telecommunications company used a monkey in an TV commercial that was a parody of the U.S. presidential race, with the simian wearing a suit and standing behind a podium with a sign reading “Change.”
Sweetness & Light has previously noted, the very Caucasian Mr.Bush has been and is still regularly compared to monkeys and even Curious George. But NOW depicting someone as a monkey and in particularly “the messiah” is offensive.

RUSH: The Countrywide Six. “Christopher Dodd said he and his wife knew that Countrywide, Inc., was treating them as VIP customers when they refinanced mortgages on two homes in 2003, but that it didn’t cross his mind he was getting a perk from Countrywide.” What does VIP mean? VIP is a perk! Here is Senator Dodd on Capitol Hill yesterday.
DODD: I would never, ever, ever be a part of that. That there was a VIP section we were in, but we’re [sic] assumption was — No one ever said to us, “You’re going to get some special treatment.” We thought it was a courtesy.
RUSH: V! I! P! You do get specialty treatment. VIP. Come on, Senator. This is like Bob Torricelli. “Never in my life! Never! (Three watches, $10,000 in cash.) Have I ever accepted anything. (Two trips to the Bahamas.) I resent this allegation of my character,” blah, blah, blah. What is VIP? These guys! Then to come back with legislation that benefits and bails out Countrywide and other people? Here’s more Dodd.
DODD: I never talked to them about my mortgages, and I never would! I mean the idea you call a CEO of a bank to get a mortgage to try to work something out, I just wouldn’t do.
RUSH: Why not? A lot of other people do? Kent Conrad did; Richard Holbrooke did. There are six of you that did. Donna Shalala did. The point is, all you people have enough money. This should not happen. Don’t we always hear that we can raise taxes on the rich ’cause they have more than they need? Didn’t the Clintons say they got tax cuts they didn’t even ask for? These people were looking for a deal. The people that get freebies in their lives are the most greedy people you have ever met. Folks, trust me on this. I’ve seen it. The people who have grown up and have been given things — stars, athletes or whatever — they expect everything is going to be given to them. That’s how business was done. It’s what they learned. It’s what we know. This is a very powerful decision. Of course you call a CEO, and maybe he didn’t call the CEO, but the CEO called him. He’s chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. I’m going to tell you, if I went out to get a mortgage and I was getting a deal, I would know it.
You’re told what the rate is, and I guaran-damn-tee you the bank is going to say, “By the way, we’re going to knock a little off of this here, Mr. Limbaugh, because we enjoy your business.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. We’re going to waive closing costs and we’re going to waive a point here off the interest rate.”
“Really?”
And then you walk out of there and you don’t even know it? Culture of corruption? Really the funny thing is that these are people that are independently wealthy. Well, they may not be independently wealthy, but Richard Holbrooke is one of these guys that got one of these things, and so did Donna Shalala. And the culture of greed piece in the American Spectator today by the columnist called The Prowler quotes an ethics aide: “You have to keep in mind that for folks like Shalala and Holbrooke, there’s nothing wrong with what they did. They just got a sweet deal that the great unwashed probably couldn’t get. It’s just interesting to see all these people who financially are well off by any standard, getting caught up in something totally unnecessary.” It’s not. This is my whole point. The rich and the powerful always demand a deal. That’s what rich and power is all about. They always want something that’s cut off. They want a better deal than the great unwashed. They think they’re entitled to it, for crying out loud! This makes total sense. They’re all Democrats — phony baloney, plastic banana, good-time rock ‘n’ rollers — who tell us and everybody else, “You shouldn’t object to a tax increase. You have more than you need.” Seems like they never do, do they?
Some well-meaning Obama fans created what they regarded as a “cute and cuddly toy,” intended to introduce children to the political process — a socket puppet monkey with ears just like BHO’s:

Shocker!… Dems Scream Racism Over Republican Ad Then Are Busted Passing Out Bogus KKK Flyers!

Now, the Democrats and their lackeys in the media are screaming “RACISM!”

Hoping to hang on to a Congressional seat in a tight special election here on Tuesday, Republicans in this mostly white and very conservative district are trying to make the vote more a referendum on Senator Barack Obama than on the candidates themselves.
In advertisements and speeches, Republicans have repeatedly associated Travis Childers, the white Democrat threatening to take the seat away from the Republican Party, with Mr. Obama. Republicans say Mr. Obama’s liberal values are out of place in the district. But for many Democratic veterans here, the tactic is a throwback to the old and unwelcome politics of race, a standby in Mississippi campaigning.
Former Gov. William Winter, a Democrat, expressed shock at the current campaign.
“I am appalled that this blatant appeal to racial prejudice is still being employed,” said Mr. Winter, who lost the 1967 governor’s race after his segregationist opponent circulated handbills showing blacks listening to one of his speeches. Mr. Winter went on to win the governor’s office 12 years later.

Deplorable Keith Olbermann attacked Rush Limbaugh for a supposed racial “insult”, dutifully parroted from one of Olby’s usual blue blog “news” sources (Think Propaganda). Krazy Keith was up in arms, making Limbaugh “worst person in the world” for his heinous, racist slur against a Hispanic office holder. Oralmann seems to have forgotten his own history, like when he called the Hispanic Attorney General a “house boy”. Unfortunately for Bathtub Boy, Olbermann Watch didn’t forget:
