In 2002, Senator Harkin gave a nationally televised and controversial eulogy for Senator Paul Wellstone, a close ally in the Senate who perished in a plane crash 11 days before his potential re-election. In the eulogy, Harkin urged the crowd to “stand up for Paul” and talked about “passing on Paul’s legacy” and to win the 2002 Senate election “For Paul” — statements that drew loud cheers and were interpreted by some as overt political references and inappropriate for a memorial service.

While running for his Senate seat in 1984, and again while running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1992, Harkin has faced criticism for claiming that he had flown combat missions over North Vietnam. In a 1979 round table discussion with other Congressional Veterans, Harkin said of his service as a Navy pilot: “One year was in Vietnam.  In September of 2007, Harkin demanded apology from General Pace - the week before Pace’s military retirement - for condemning homosexuality and adultery in the military (remember his “Roman Catholic” designation). It’s one thing to chastise Negros for their shortcomings, but to do so without offering any advice, counsel, remedies to help alleviate the problems you are simply aligning yourself with the likes of David Duke and Robert Byrd.

What I cannot comprehend when some racist fuck wants to post some bullshit comment reminding me of statistics that I am all to familiar with, is the fact that even though you may not like black people and you find the crime they commit reprehensible, is it not in your best interest to try and improve the conditions and circumstances that foster the behaviors that lead to Negro incarcerations?

No matter where you live, crime affects all of us, our tax dollars are channeled towards dealing with crime issues rather than schools, infrastructure, national defense, health care.
So when dickheads want to again tell me that Negros commits more crime, what is your real motive?

On the flip side, if you simply don’t like black people and you wish all of us would just die or go back to Africa, I would think that you would be pleased that black people commit as much crime as they do.
Anyone who wants to throw out bullshit stats would also be aware of the fact that black people are far more likely to, rob, steal or kill another black person.

NEW YORK, New York (link) – The man who writes the songs won’t be singing any of them on “The View” – or at least as long as Elisabeth Hasselbeck is there.Barry Manilow says he has backed out of his scheduled appearance on the morning talk show after the show refused to pull Hasselbeck from the interview, Access Hollywood has learned.

Manilow, a long time friend of Rosie O’Donnell, posted the following message on his Web site:

“I wanted to let you know that I will no longer be on The View tomorrow as scheduled. I had made a request that I be interviewed by Joy, Barbara or Whoopi, but not Elisabeth Hasselback [sic]. Unfortunately, the show was not willing to accommodate this simple request so I bowed out. It’s really too bad because I’ve always been a big supporter of the show, but I cannot compromise my beliefs. The good news is that I will be on a whole slew of other shows promoting the new album so I hope you can catch me on those.”

However, sources close to “The View” claim Manilow is lying.

Sources told Access the show is the one who cancelled the booking because they would not allow the “Copacabana” singer to dictate who would interview him.

In addition, the appearance has been scheduled since July (which is after Rosie left the show) and that Manilow has appeared twice on the show in the past with Hasselbeck on the panel.

The sources suggest Manilow is causing a stir in order to create a buzz as his new album, “Greatest Songs of the Seventies,” is getting ready to debut.

Access has reached out to “The View” for an official comment and is awaiting a response.

In an interview with Access Hollywood last week, Manilow talked about his new album – and the duet he recorded with his pal Rosie.

The two recorded Elton John’s “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” however, the track didn’t make the new album.

“It was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. She is just inspiring because you know she’s not a singer. She knows that, but she just got behind the microphone and ripped away. She was great and in tune too,” Manilow said of Rosie. “The problem was, as I put the album together, it became a very romantic album. And having this thing come crashing in out of nowhere, the tone just didn’t feel right. It’ll probably wind up being a bonus cut somewhere.”

In some countries of Hispanic origin, bullfighting is promoted as a national sport. And dogs are eaten in some Asian countries.

It is my understanding that dog fighting is part of the African-American culture despite the fact that it is a federal crime. That does not make it right, but it does explain in part Vick’s participation in this event.

President Bush commuted the sentence of Irving “Scooter” Libby for crimes he committed knowingly which compromised our national security. Surely he could find it in his heart to use the same rationalization for commuting Libby’s sentence. If Libby paid enough of a price for his crime, surely Vick should be given the same consideration since he has lost his over $125 million and his career.

BET Says Cartoon Was Just a Satire

 Black Entertainment Television’s new animation division seems to have stepped right into a pitfall of self-parody: a short cartoon video it introduced on July 20, “Read a Book,” seems to flaunt every negative stereotype in the African-American community.

In a gloss on the hip-hop videos frequently shown on BET, an animated rapper named D’Mite comes on with what looks like a public service message about the benefits of reading, but devolves into a foul-mouthed song accompanied by images of black men shooting guns loaded with books and gyrating black women with the word “book” written on the back of their low-slung pants. The uncensored cut is making the rounds on YouTube, while a cleaner version was shown on BET.

The cartoon, which represents an effort by the network to broaden its programming, was the subject of an article on Friday in The Los Angeles Times, which noted that the network has been “long criticized for showing gangsta rap videos and those with scantily clad female dancers.”

“It’s meant to be very satirical, and in a real way kind of mimics and mocks the current state of hip-hop and hip-hop videos,” said Denys Cowan, senior vice president of animation for BET. He said the video was not part of any literacy campaign or “Schoolhouse Rock” alternative, but was intended for BET’s demographic of 18- to 34-year-olds.

Opinion online has been divided. Someone who posted the video on YouTube praised its “positive message” and “social satire,” while another anonymous user uploaded it under the title, “BET racist rap?”

“Read a Book” makes an especially jarring contrast with another animated short in rotation on the network, “Bid ’Em In,” a sharp and sober depiction of a slave auction.

Mr. Cowan said the contrast was a deliberate reflection of the broad range of projects that his division hopes to tackle.

“They’re not the same, and there’s room for both of them on the network,” he said. “We don’t want to underestimate our audience’s ability to understand what they’re looking at. There is no one monolithic black way of doing things.”

While unauthorized entry into the United States is illegal, being in the country after having entered illegally is not necessarily a crime, according to a new ruling by the Kansas Court of Appeals.

In a Barton County case, a three-judge panel issued an opinion Friday that a judge could not deny probation and order jail time for convicted drug dealer Nicholas L. Martinez based solely on the grounds that Martinez is an unauthorized immigrant.

“While Congress has criminalized the illegal entry into this country, it has not made the continued presence of an illegal alien in the United States a crime unless the illegal alien has previously been deported and has again entered this country illegally,” Judge Patrick McAnany wrote for the court majority.

Barton County Attorney Douglas Matthews said courts in Oregon and Minnesota have issued similar rulings. But he said, “My research tells me this is the first time this has come up in this state.”

Martinez’s lawyer, Janine Cox of the Kansas appellate defender’s office, declined to comment because prosecutors have not decided whether to appeal the decision to the state Supreme Court.

The case arose from the sentencing of Martinez, who pleaded guilty to felony possession of cocaine and endangering a child by having his young son deliver drugs to an undercover officer, according to court documents.

Although the prosecution recommended probation — the presumptive sentence for the crimes in state sentencing guidelines — Barton County District Judge Hannelore Kitts sentenced Martinez to serve as much as a year in jail because he is an illegal immigrant, the records said.

“The problem that arises for me is to follow the guidelines here, is because Mr. Martinez is illegally in the country and is in violation of the probation rules right from the start if I were to place him on probation,” Kitts said, according to transcripts quoted in the appeal ruling.

My tolerance level for liberals has dramatically decreased because reading as much as I do, blogs, political sites, paying even closer attention to politics than I did before blogging I am exposed to so much stupid crap like this story. First, Seattleites were told to recycle glass, paper and aluminum, or risk having their garbage left on the curb. Now the city wants residents to recycle food scraps starting in 2009.

Mayor Greg Nickels and City Councilmember Richard Conlin on Thursday proposed stricter rules for sorting trash as part of a comprehensive plan to raise the city’s recycling goals and limit the amount of trash sent to landfills.

If the plan passes, residents of single-family homes would be required to recycle food waste in two years, a program that has been optional since 2005 for $5 a month. The city plans to accept meat and dairy in the yard-waste bins. Now only vegetable scraps and food-stained paper, such as pizza boxes, are permitted.

In 2010, the city would begin punishing people in single-family homes who don’t recycle food scraps by not collecting their garbage. For apartments, recycling food scraps would be optional. The ban would not apply to restaurants or grocery stores, which produce twice as much food waste as residents do.

The city last year began requiring residents to recycle 90 percent of their glass, paper, cardboard, tin, aluminum and plastic or risk having their trash left behind. Businesses, which are required only to recycle paper, cardboard and yard waste, and apartment buildings that don’t comply after two warnings get a $50 fine.

Garbage haulers look inside garbage cans, but not inside trash bags, to check whether customers are complying. In the first year of enforcement, garbage haulers left behind just 1,207 cans out of 6 million, the city said.

The city also plans to study banning packaging such as plastic grocery bags and plastic foam. San Francisco has already banned plastic foam at food-service businesses, and a plastic grocery-bag ban will take effect in a few months.

Faced with the widely acknowledged social pathologies of public housing projects, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is now providing “housing choice vouchers” for qualified applicants. Cynthia Bumble, Deputy Assistant Undersecretary for Urban Relocation, defended the new approach, saying that “Public housing projects are unattractive places to live. They are dilapidated by vandalism and plagued with crime. A lot of your neighbors are scary. How can we justify sending anyone there to live?”

Under the voucher plan, those living in the worst neighborhoods will be first-in-line for subsidies enabling them to move to “better, middle class housing.”

Bumble discounted critics’ contention that the rules of the program give public housing tenants incentives to degrade their current housing. “Those living in the projects are the poorest of the poor,” Bumble asserted. “They’re a pretty unmotivated crowd. Few will understand the rules of the program. Fewer will have the energy to take coherent action even if they understand the rules.”

Bumble also rejected the objections of those living in the destination neighborhoods for the transplanted projects’ residents. “Just because a person has worked hard to afford her own home in a nice neighborhood doesn’t give her the right to deny these same benefits to those less fortunate,” Bumble said. “Even a person on welfare still wants the good things in life. The greed and prejudice of the so-called middle class shouldn’t stand as a barrier to those unable or unwilling to make the same life choices as the rest of us.”

While she conceded that there could be some “collateral damage” to the destination neighborhoods, the Deputy Assistant Undersecretary insisted that it would be a “small price to pay for bringing greater equity to the way we house our population.”

In related news, Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) released a report estimating that it takes 192 days of work each year by each taxpayer to pay his or her prorated share for government spending and the higher consumer prices caused by government regulations. Billionaire investor Warren Buffett derided ATR’s complaints as “mean spirited.“ “American taxpayers aren’t paying nearly enough to suit my tastes,” Buffett declared. “That’s why I think it is essential that Senator Clinton (D-N.Y.) be elected our next president.”

I have ranted about this before so I’ll TRY to be brief. Back when my former wife and I decided to move off the Air Force base to our own home we moved in what we believed to be a good decent neighborhood.
However as crime started to creep into the hood, folks that had the means to move out did. At the time I was an E-3 and my wife was working part time and going to school.
So for us to move (upgrade) would be difficult.

The gubment started buying up houses on my block and converted many to HUD houses.
What was immediately noticeable was the people moving in were your stereotypical shady folks. Yards were jacked up, bad ass kids were moving in, loud music, cars on blocks, people parking on their “so-called” lawns.

The few remaining homeowners were obvious. Just locate the green well kept yards and gardens, weeds not growing on the sidewalks in front of our homes ect.

The final straw was my daughter witnessing some dude lying dead on the street as a result of a drive-by. We got the fuck out but paid dearly for it, because we damm near could not give the house away. Luckily suckers who did not know any better (put me in that category too) made an offer and we said SOLD before they could finish asking.
We lost thousands of dollars on the home and I blame the gubment for moving in these mutherfuckers in who fucked up the hood. I don’t sound angry do I?

The idiot lady in this article saying: “Just because a person has worked hard to afford her own home in a nice neighborhood doesn’t give her the right to deny these same benefits to those less fortunate” BULLSHIT yes it does, particularly if I’m paying for it in the form of increased taxes!

Frankly a lot of people simply don’t need to be in a “home.” If you are unwilling or unable to take care of it and can’t afford the basic maintenance it takes to maintain a decent home the last thing a legit homeowner needs to folks coming in a fucking up the housing values. Homeowners have a right to protect their investment, THEIR BIGGEST INVESTMENT and no bleeding heart liberal fuck can tell me otherwise.

Mrs. Snoop had our current home built before I moved in, could we “upgrade” slightly,  that is debatable, but totally unnecessary because we are happy with our hood and neighbors.

But you don’t think that if the gubment started subsidizing moving hillbillies and ghetto rats in the hood a For Sale sign would not go up faster than you could blink, you would be mistaken.

If you want a better place to live, go to school, get an education, make more fucken money, invest or work harder or longer, stop smoking it or drinking dead presidents away and expect society to make up for your lack of common sense.

It pisses me off how these liberal morons want to micromanage this whole damm society. What further pisses me off is I guarantee you this Cynthia Bumble quoted in the story will not have hood rats moving in near her neighborhood. Stupid bastard!

For quite some time, I have wanted to discuss how liberalism is destroying the competitive spirit of our Nation’s children. This is the same competitive drive that made our Country great and so admired throughout the world. I briefly touched on this insanity recently regarding Seattle Schools banning Legos. But, after watching Glenn Beck last night, I knew it was time to unleash my rage.

Glenn Beck last night spoke with an attorney for Wycoda Fischer. Evidently, Fischer had a dire crisis that required legal counsel. You see, poor Wycoda Fischer did not make her cheerleading team.

No, you are not dreaming; this is not a joke. Wycoda Fischer did not make her junior varsity cheerleading team and so she is suing her school. Forget the fact that Michael Jordan attributes his competitive drive, and ultimate success, because he was cut from his high school team. Today, instead of children learning from their failures, and striving to succeed, they are rewarded for their lack of effort. Somehow, we are surprised when these children become abject failures as adults, and then argue they have a right to a college education and a comfortable living.

As a result of this ridiculous lawsuit, the School District will have to waste tax dollars to pay a lawyer to defend this nonsense. Worst of all, this will have a terrible effect on competitive sports throughout the Country. The damage from this single case may have a more devastating impact than the media cares to mention.

Finally, Mr. Biden’s target was Mitt Romney, the Massachusetts Republican running for president. “I found Romney’s statements yesterday profound – crazy — when he talked about going to war with Iran,” he said. “Why are we talking about going to war with Iran?”
