Hillary “Misspoke” About Firing Guns As Child

Clinton touted her experience with guns as she continued a weekend tirade against her Democratic rival Barack Obama’s controversial comments about “bitter” working-class voters, frustrated by economic woes and immigration, who “cling to guns or religion.” Obama later said he “regretted” the comments.The New York senator called Obama “elitist” and “out of touch” before reminiscing about shooting trips with her father and downing shots and beer with supporters in Indiana.
But shortly after Cheney’s challenge, Clinton said she had “misspoke” about her gun exploits as a child. “I fired a gun once, but I didn’t like it, and I didn’t recoil,” she said…
Compare that with what Mrs. Clinton originally said:
“You know, my dad took me out behind the cottage that my grandfather built on a little lake called Lake Winola outside of Scranton and taught me how to shoot when I was a little girl,” she said.
“You know, some people now continue to teach their children and their grandchildren. It’s part of culture. It’s part of a way of life. People enjoy hunting and shooting because it’s an important part of who they are. Not because they are bitter.”
That it is quite a mouthful to “misspeak.” There is considerable difference between “taught me how to shoot” and “fired a gun once.”

The Clintons have made a $100-million fortune since leaving the White House, but a Politico analysis found that hasn’t kept Bill Clinton from taking full advantage of the publicly funded perks offered to ex-presidents.
In fact, his presidential retirement benefits cost taxpayers almost as much as those of the other two living ex-presidents combined.
The price tag for Clinton’s federal retirement allowance from 2001 through the end of this year will run $8 million, compared to $5.5 million for George H. W. Bush’s and $4 million for Jimmy Carter’s during the same period.

Over the last five weeks, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York has featured in her campaign stump speeches the story of a health care horror: an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee.
The woman, Trina Bachtel, did die last August, two weeks after her baby boy was stillborn at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. But hospital administrators said Friday that Ms. Bachtel was under the care of an obstetrics practice affiliated with the hospital, that she was never refused treatment and that she was, in fact, insured.
“We implore the Clinton campaign to immediately desist from repeating this story,” said Rick Castrop, chief executive officer of the O’Bleness Health System.
Linda M. Weiss, a spokeswoman for the not-for-profit hospital, said the Clinton campaign had never contacted the hospital to check the accuracy of the story, which Mrs. Clinton had first heard from a Meigs County, Ohio, sheriff’s deputy in late February.
A Clinton spokesman, Mo Elleithee, said candidates would frequently retell stories relayed to them, vetting them when possible. “In this case, we did try but were not able to fully vet it,” Mr. Elleithee said. “If the hospital claims it did not happen that way, we respect that.”

Among the debts reported this month by Hillary Rodham Clinton’s struggling presidential campaign, the $292,000 in unpaid health insurance premiums for her campaign staff stands out.

Hillary Clinton’s Bosnian misadventure should disqualify her from the presidency, but the airport landing is the least of it.

The punishment visited on Sen. Hillary Clinton for her flagrant, hysterical, repetitive, pathological lying about her visit to Bosnia should be much heavier than it has yet been and should be exacted for much more than just the lying itself. There are two kinds of deliberate and premeditated deceit, commonly known as suggestio falsi and suppressio veri. (Neither of them is covered by the additionally lying claim of having “misspoken.”) The first involves what seems to be most obvious in the present case: the putting forward of a bogus or misleading account of events. But the second, and often the more serious, means that the liar in question has also attempted to bury or to obscure something that actually is true. Let us examine how Sen. Clinton has managed to commit both of these offenses to veracity and decency and how in doing so she has rivaled, if not indeed surpassed, the disbarred and perjured hack who is her husband and tutor.I remember disembarking at the Sarajevo airport in the summer of 1992 after an agonizing flight on a U.N. relief plane that had had to “corkscrew” its downward approach in order to avoid Serbian flak and ground fire. As I hunched over to scuttle the distance to the terminal, a mortar shell fell as close to me as I ever want any mortar shell to fall. The vicious noise it made is with me still. And so is the shock I felt at seeing a civilized and multicultural European city bombarded round the clock by an ethno-religious militia under the command of fascistic barbarians. I didn’t like the Clinton candidacy even then, but I have to report that many Bosnians were enthused by Bill Clinton’s pledge, during that ghastly summer, to abandon the hypocritical and sordid neutrality
of the George H.W. Bush/James Baker regime and to come to the defense of the victims of ethnic cleansing.
I am recalling these two things for a reason. First, and even though I admit that I did once later misidentify a building in Sarajevo from a set of photographs, I can tell you for an absolute certainty that it would be quite impossible to imagine that one had undergone that experience at the airport if one actually had not. Yet Sen. Clinton, given repeated chances to modify her absurd claim to have operated under fire while in the company of her then-16-year-old daughter and a USO entertainment troupe, kept up a stone-faced and self-loving insistence that, yes, she had exposed herself to sniper fire in the cause of gaining moral credit and, perhaps to be banked for the future, national-security “experience.” This must mean either a) that she lies without conscience or reflection; or b) that she is subject to fantasies of an illusory past; or c) both of the above. Any of the foregoing would constitute a disqualification for the presidency of the United States.

Putting aside Rush’s “Operation Chaos” successfully fucking up the Democratic Party, after her sniper fire lie I have often thought about the mental acuity of people who still actually believe that Hillary Clinton should be president.

This has not been a casual connection for Clinton. Some disturbing historical facts.
1. Bill Clinton interned for J. William Fulbright in 1966-67, when Fulbright was still a segregationist. Fulbright became Clinton’s “mentor.” By comparison, Lott worked for a segregationist congressman.
2. In April 1985, Governor Bill Clinton signed Act 985 into law, making the birthdates of Martin Luther King Jr. (the preeminent leader of the civil-rights movement) and Robert E. Lee (the general who led the Confederate army) state holidays on the same day. Of course, the word “segregation” never passed Clinton’s considerable lips, but the (uncoded) message he was sending to certain of his white constituents could not have be clearer. His support for the Lee day seems as bad — if not worse — than a gaffe at an old man’s birthday party and Lott’s opposition to an MLK day.
Lott’s 1983 vote against making King’s birthday a national holiday — which he opposed for reasons other than race (as did Warren Rudman) — is now said by some to be further evidence of his racism or insensitivity to race.
3. Clinton had a Confederate flag-like issue of his own. Arkansas Code Annotated, Section 1-5-107, provides as follows:
(a) The Saturday immediately preceding Easter Sunday of each year is designated as ‘Confederate Flag Day’ in this state.
(b) No person, firm, or corporation shall display an Confederate flag or replica thereof in connection with any advertisement of any commercial enterprise, or in any manner for any purpose except to honor the Confederate States of America. [Emphasis added.]
(c) Any person, firm, or corporation violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000).
Clinton took no steps during his twelve years as governor to repeal this law. And we know why, don’t we? He didn’t want to offend certain of his constituents.
4. Newsmax.com recently reminded us that in her 1998 book, Lift Every Voice, Lani Guinier wrote of another disturbing event involving Clinton. She stated, in part:
In the late 1980’s, in a particularly tense meeting in southeastern Arkansas — a section of the Mississippi Delta region where antebellum social relations are still in many respects the order of the day — Dayna [Cunningham] and a local [NAACP Legal Defense Fund] cooperating lawyer were part of a handful of black people there to discuss remedies for a highly contentious [Legal Defense Fund] voting rights suit.
The meeting turned sour when one of the local whites demanded to know why, in his view, the whites were always made to pay for others’ problems. Other whites in the group began to echo his charge. . . .
Bill Clinton, the lead defendant in the case, took to the podium to respond. In a tone of resignation, Clinton said, “We have to pay because we lost.”
“Clinton had so irresponsibly pandered to the backwards feeling of the white constituency,” Cunningham told Guinier.
Clinton’s “we lost” comment referred to the South losing the Civil War. Let’s imagine if the South had won the Civil War. Among other things, was Clinton endorsing segregation, or much worse? Yes, I know, what a “dumb” suggestion, albeit made to demonstrate the selective moral outrage surrounding Lott’s comments.
The truth is that during much of his political career, Clinton has been dancing with segregationists. But Mr. Beinart assumed Clinton hadn’t, so he didn’t bother to investigate, or he simply didn’t want to know, or he simply dismissed the evidence. And herein lies the hypocrisy.

This is the woman who told Dateline NBC that daughter Chelsea was on a jog in New York City when the jihadists struck on 9/11 — never mind that Chelsea later wrote a magazine essay revealing that she watched the attacks on television from a friend’s apartment.
This is the woman who claimed to have “helped start” the federal Children’s Health Insurance Program — never mind that the program’s original sponsors noted that Sen. Clinton fought the initial bill and had no role in writing the legislation.
This is the woman (echoed by her husband and daughter) who bragged that she was the “first” to call the disaster in Darfur “genocide” — never mind that several other senators had done so in 2004, while her first press statement referring to Darfur as “genocide” wasn’t until March 2006.
This is the woman who claimed to have organized “instrumental” meetings in Belfast and baldly asserted that she “helped to bring peace to Northern Ireland” — never mind that key negotiators dismissed her as “totally invisible,” “cheerleading,” and “a wee bit silly.”
And we haven’t even gotten to the Whitewater era yet, which, not coincidentally, is when her Tuzla imaginary bullet-dodging adventure took place — timed to distract from all of her and her husband’s dishonest, dirty dealings.

“(Jesus’) enemies had their opinion about Him,” Wright wrote in a eulogy of the late scholar Asa Hilliard in the November/December 2007 issue. “The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans.”
Wright continued, “From the circumstances surrounding Jesus’ birth (in a barn in a township that was under the Apartheid Roman government that said his daddy had to be in), up to and including the circumstances surrounding Jesus’ death on a cross, a Roman cross, public lynching Italian style. …

Obama Seeks to Quell Flap Over Pastor
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Wednesday sought to quell concerns over anti-American remarks by his former pastor, saying people are paying too much attention to a small number of “stupid” comments.
Obama gave a sweeping speech on race last week in which he condemned incendiary remarks by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, but the words of the former pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago continue to dog the candidate. Reflecting the campaign’s concern about the fallout, Obama used a question about religion at a town hall forum as an opportunity to address the issue.
“This is somebody that was preaching three sermons at least a week for 30 years and it got boiled down … into a half-minute sound clip and just played it over and over and over again, partly because it spoke to some of the racial divisions we have in this country,” Obama told an audience in this central North Carolina city.
“There are misunderstandings on both sides,” the Illinois senator said. “We cannot solve the problems of America if every time somebody somewhere does something stupid, that everybody gets up in arms and forgets about the war in Iraq and we forget about the economy.”

Obama is becoming Bill Clinton like. I mean in the “it depends on what the meaning of the word “is” is.
Remember:
“It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the–if he–if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not–that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement….Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. So now we have a “small number of “stupid” comments” I guess it depends on what you would define as “small.”
Mrs. Clinton said that she says “millions of words each day” so “we were under sniper fire” so five small words out of a million, is indeed small. “God damm Americkkka” is just a blip on the radar.
Ya know I get the fact that politicians on both sides have some serious issues with honesty. And neither side has a monopoly on what may be the correct path to dealing with some of America’s issues but anybody paying attention has to be struck by just how incredibly deceitful and conniving Democratic politicians are.
A simple story about a foreign policy trip or whether or not (your church and pastor of CHOICE) is a raving racist America hating lunatic can produce the most bullshit rhetoric is just beyond belief.

I’m not sure what this is supposed to prove. We do all understand that Hillary didn’t actually “misspeak,” that her use of that word is a polite euphemism for “shamelessly lie,” yes? In fact, according to Newsweek, she’s been shamelessly lying about this since at least December, to the point where the author wonders if she’s quite literally delusional. Sinbad came out publicly and challenged her on the story on March 11, six days before the speech; I posted about it at the time. All you’re watching here is the middle stage in the evolution of a Clintonian lie, contrived to enable the sub-moronic proposition that sitting in a plane while it lands under sniper fire somehow qualifies as “foreign policy experience.” How can anyone ever trust her again, wonders Tom Bevan. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) is seeking to play down news that the former first lady gave an incorrect account (are they fucken kidding!!!) of landing in Bosnia in 1996 under sniper fire, and refused to answer additional questions about a flap that could hurt her chances of catching Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) in the race for the Democratic nomination.“We’ve said all we’re going to say on that,” said Deputy Communications Director Phil Singer on a Tuesday morning conference call with reporters.
A video from CBS News had shown that Clinton’s version of having come under sniper fire was not correct. Her campaign chalked up the discrepancy between her account and the video as a case of Clinton misspeaking.
The Obama campaign seized on the story when it was splashed across the CBS website Monday, with spokesman Tommy Vietor saying it is “part of a troubling pattern of Sen. Clinton inflating her foreign policy experience.”
Top Clinton surrogates also sought to play down the story, which could prove to be harmful to the former first lady’s chances.
Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.), who was asked about the flap on MSNBC, referred to it as a “small incident that happened 10 to 15 years ago.”

Senator Hillary Clinton has apologized to black voters due to the controversy surrounding the widely-condemned comments of now-resigned unapologetic campaign official Geraldine Ferraro, who basically said Obama is where he is because he is black.News reports say Clinton’s speech was an uncharacteristically long and heartfelt apology.
But some are bound to note that it once again shoves the issue of Obama as an African-American into the news cycle. There have been accusations that this is why there have been so many instances of Clinton campaign associates raising the issue, then apologizing and resigning: to raise the issue and keep it in the news cycle. Either that or it’s an issue they simply can’t help hinting at or– in Ferraro’s case — all but discussing it complete with Al Gore-style slide show.
