Hsu captured in Colorado; Update: Hsu fell ill on Amtrak
Friday, September 7th, 2007
.
The Grand Junction Sentinel reports that Hsu was captured after getting sick on an Amtrak train: “Disgraced Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu was arrested in Grand Junction tonight, after he failed to show up for a court appearance in California related to a felony theft conviction. FBI agents took Hsu into custody around 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital FBI, spokesman Joseph Schadler said in a statement. Hsu was traveling on an Amtrak train when he became ill. Grand Junction paramedics were summoned to the Amtrak station near downtown about 11 a.m. Thursday to treat a patient, Battalion Chief Robert Ferguson said. The patient, whom Ferguson said he found out eight hours later was a fugitive, was not in great pain, Ferguson said.
NEW ORLEANS (AP - Link) — Mayor Ray Nagin could be days away from announcing he will run for governor of Louisiana — a move many in this stricken city regard as preposterous. If Nagin runs, he will do so on his stewardship of New Orleans. But this is a city in great distress two years after Hurricane Katrina, with large swaths still empty, an appalling murder rate and a painfully sluggish recovery. Nagin’s disapproval rating stood at 65 percent in a recent poll.
*****
I saw this in a news headline and I thought it was a fucken joke.
This has got to be the most unbelievable crazy shit I have seen in politics, if it happens.
I swear to God this can’t be real, this idiot ass nigga fuck can’t possible be contemplating taking on a governorship when he can’t even get his head out of his ass on the situation in NOLA.
The sad thing is, if he runs, he will actually be competitive, a whole bunch of retarded ass Negros would actually vote for this fool, not to mention that Louisiana is corrupt enough politically that this is a possibility.
I’m just speechless, what the fuck can you say about this, either dude has been smoking too much crack or he is mildly retarded and he is clueless as to the situation in NOLA.
Some of the leading Dems who’ve taken fugitive-former fugitive-fugitive Norman Hsu’s money can’t decide what to do. Looks like Pennsylvania’s Democrat governor Ed Rendell may need some public feedback to help him make up his mind:
Disgraced Democratic fund-raiser Norman Hsu, who was wanted by California authorities for the last 15 years, is once again on the lam, putting Gov. Rendell, a staunch supporter, in an increasingly awkward political corner. And for now, Rendell isn’t saying whether he will reverse his decision and return nearly $38,000 in contributions from Hsu or continue to stand by the man he recently called “one of the best 10 people I’ve met.”
I found the following links on a blog called bluecrabboulevard. He points out as have a number of other right leaning blogs that the left side of the blog world is dead silent on this issue. The MSM has only been begrudgingly mentioned it. On Tuesday I watched MSNBC damm near all day and except for Pat Buchannan mentioning it briefly on a segment with Andrea Mitchell the media is avoiding this like the plague.
Democratic fundraiser fails to appear for bail hearing on grand theft charge.
By Dan Morain, Los Angeles Times Staff WriterREDWOOD CITY, Calif. — A warrant was issued this morning for Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu, who failed to appear for a bail hearing on a 15-year-old grand theft charge.
San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Robert D. Foiles ordered Hsu, a major fundraiser for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign, to be held without bail should he make an appearance.
Hsu-nami News: Norman Hsu Linked to China Missile Trader
Tuesday, September 4th, 2007
Found this story while blog surfing at Protein Wisdom, under the headline “ This Should Kill Hillary’s Chances [Dan Collins]”
But unfortunately, probably won’t. Hsu has ties to the folks whom Bill Clinton waived to let the Chinese have missile guidance technology that otherwise would have taken them years to develop. And the Clintons are still reaping the financial benefits.
A shady Chinese megadonor to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign has close ties to an aerospace mogul accused of placing his business interests before national security by sharing missile secrets with Beijing during the Clinton administration. Before his forced resignation last week, Norman Yuan Yuen Hsu sat on the board of trustees of the liberal New School university in New York with former Loral Corp. head Bernard L. Schwartz, who was allowed to transfer restricted satellite and missile technology to a People’s Liberation Army front after contributing a record amount of cash to President Clinton’s 1996 campaign.
The New School has removed Hsu’s name from its list of trustees. But the old list showing both Hsu and Schwartz is still captured on Google’s cache files. Here is the screen shot.
Schwartz, vice chairman of the New School board, was among officials who introduced Hsu to the school’s administration, WND has learned.
Last November, Schwartz and Hsu chaired a New School banquet at the Mandarin Oriental in New York which featured Sen. Clinton as keynote speaker. Clinton steered a $1 million federal grant to the college.
More recently, Schwartz and Hsu (pronounced shoo) appeared together at the New York Yacht Club for Democratic Rep. Patrick Kennedy’s 40th birthday bash.
The pair are so-called HillRaisers – major donors to Clinton’s war chest – with Hsu raising more than $1 million for her campaign. Hsu, like Schwartz, has lobbied the U.S. government to relax trade rules with China.
Before he was a Friend of Hill, Schwartz was a Friend of Bill. In fact, then-President Clinton feted Schwartz on his 71st birthday at a White House dinner.
Sources say Schwartz vouched for Hsu at New School, even though he was a fugitive convicted of grand theft in California.
New School President Bob Kerrey assumed Hsu, now in jail, was reputable. The former Democrat senator says he didn’t question Hsu’s credentials because he liked him. He also was taken by “his personal story, coming from China, and he had an interest in fashion as well.”
“It all intrigued me,” Kerrey said.
Of course, Hsu also gave generous sums of cash to Democrats and their causes, including The New School.
Kerrey assumed Hsu, a self-described apparel magnate, made his money in the garment industry. But even that claim is now in question.
It turns out that the various companies Hsu listed on federal campaign filings with the FEC no longer exist, and may always have been fictitious. Last decade Hsu declared bankruptcy.
The FBI has opened a criminal investigation into Hsu’s fund-raising activities.
Links from Sister Toldjah….and good music video choice too!
Gateway Pundit and Stop The ACLU both have the latest details on yet another shady character involved in donating lots of money to Hillary Clinton. His name is Abdul Rehman Jinnah, and he was also wanted by law enforcement. Just keep scrolling at both places.
Ooooo I just love a feeding frenzy, this is frankly why I right wing bloggers are far more interesting. Left wing bloggers are too much into clichés and post ranting emotion type I hate Bush and Republicans crap, while right wing bloggers dig, and check and dig further.
Hillary and the MSM are going to have to address these “smoking guns” soon.
I have been scanning the left blog world and they are not saying shit about this.
Craig is the tantalizing blog fruit of the day still.
Sister Toldjah also has another post (in Iowa, Silky Phoney is actually ahead of Hillary and Barack:)
I think John Edwards is poised to take advantage of Mrs. Bill’s corrupt tendencies, more dirt is on the way I bet. Edwards is just happy as a clam over the past days news.
Sorry Hussein backers, I’ve said this from day one about the Magic Negro, I know you don’t like to hear it and it’s politically incorrect but Barrack had NO shot at getting the Democratic nomination. Even if Mrs. Bill were to drop dead today, he has no chance.
Why, you ask… well any regular reader to the Poop already knows the answer.
Norman Hsu is one of the leading political fund-raisers in the country this year. In fact, many fund-raisers say he is one of a small handful of people capable of raising more than $1 million — a major feat considering the maximum donation allowed by an individual for 2008 races is $4,600 per candidate. But longtime political donors are curious: “Who is Norman Hsu?” asks Robin Chandler Duke, a former ambassador and longtime supporter of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Until three years ago, Mr. Hsu never made a campaign contribution to a presidential candidate, according to federal election records. Now, though, several people involved in raising money for White House candidates say Mr. Hsu is a major player.
Many “HillRaisers” — people who rustle up at least $100,000 for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign — are dwarfed beside Mr. Hsu (pronounced “Shu”). Several people involved in Democratic presidential fund-raising say Mr. Hsu, an apparel executive, has raised well over $1 million for the New York senator’s presidential campaign, making him one of the top 20 Democratic fund-raisers in the country. The Clinton campaign doesn’t disclose such details and declined to comment for this story.
Yesterday, The Wall Street Journal reported that a modest home in a middle-class San Francisco suburb, where the family of mail carrier William Paw resides, is listed as the address for many contributions to the Clinton campaign. Mr. Hsu once listed the home as his address, according to public records, and the Paws’ donations closely tracked his.
Mr. Hsu’s lawyer, Lawrence Barcella, took issue with a connection between his client and the Paws.
“Like every fund-raiser, he asks friends, colleagues and others to support the causes and candidates he supports. That is what every fund-raiser in America for any cause — political or nonprofit — does,” Mr. Barcella said in a written statement. “And, in none of these instances, to address the WSJ innuendo, has Mr. Hsu reimbursed them for their contributions.”
In this June 4 article, the AP worked hard to leave out something very important but very basic in an article about Democratic US Representative William Jefferson’s 16-count bribery indictment. What the AP left out was any identification of Jefferson’s party affiliation. In almost 30 paragraphs, no where is there any hint of what party Jefferson belongs to, not even a “(D-LA).”
When a politician is in trouble and the party is not identified, it a safe bet to assume that the missing letter is a Big “D,” as in this AP piece.
How were other politicians identified? Nancy Pelosi is identified as “Pelosi, D-Calif.” John Boehner is identified as “House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio.” But Jefferson is not a Democrat, just “Louisiana congressman William Jefferson.” Strange how that works, huh?
Since party is usually identified in the first paragraphs, the AP had many opportunities to note that Jefferson is a Democrat and simply did not :
Louisiana congressman William Jefferson received more than $500,000 in bribes and sought millions more in nearly a dozen separate schemes to enrich himself by using his office to broker business deals in Africa, according to a federal indictment Monday.
The charges came almost two years after investigators raided Jefferson’s home in Washington and found $90,000 in cash stuffed in his freezer.
The indictment lists 16 counts, including racketeering, soliciting bribes, wire fraud, money laundering, obstruction of justice and conspiracy. He faces a possible maximum sentence of 235 years.
He is the first U.S. official to face charges under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which prohibits corporate bribery ovdrseas.
Jefferson, through his lawyer, claimed innocence. He will be arraigned Friday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria.
Not only did the AP leave out the embarrassing fact that a group that is touted as the most ethical Congress ever just had a Democrat indicted for bribing foreign governmental officials, the AP also failed to mention that even as recently as February 17 of this year, long after the investigation was made public, Pelosi appointed Jefferson to the security-sensitive House Homeland Security Committee, where members have access to vital national secrets and make policy for national defense.
The AP is supposed to be the objective wire service that just dishes out the facts. Are they so biased that the AP can’t even include party affiliation when it makes the Democratic party look bad? Shouldn’t the AP be above this kind of partisan reporting?
Non-Ironic Shock: CNN Blazes Murtha For Wasteful Rathole Earmarks For Ineffective, Duplicative Agency
Thursday, May 31st, 2007
Found this on the blog Ace of Spades, more congressional taxpayer ripoff bullshit and these people don’t give a shit that you folks know what’s going on, amazing!
***
His arrogance is astouding. Not only does he brazenly threaten to stop all local spending in any district of any congressman who challenges him, he refuses to even comment on the scandal.
He’s John Murtha — he was a Marine. He doesn’t have to explain himself to the public.
The CNN story concludes, “The Democrats promised reform, and it’s not happening.”
That seems to understate it. It seems to be far worse.
The GOP must have been guilty of this at some point, but of course they were the problem the most ethical Congress ever was swept to power to solve. Apparently the solution involves junkets to London, Brussels, Key West, the Caribbean, and of course the mandatory layover in the Virgin Islands to attend to, er, homeland security business. All at the cost of a cool 10 G’s an hour, and with nary a Republican in sight despite the rule requiring trips on military jets to be bipartisan.
Plus, think of the carbon emissions.
Nice to see CNN on the ball here, and a good thing too. If this had come from FNC, there’d be torches and pitchforks outside News Corp. headquarters.
Exit question: Was Nancy Pelosi really the right person for CNN to ask about congressmen abusing their privileges with military aircraft?
Concerning the National Guard comments made by Kansas Gov. Sebelius directly on the heels of a tornado which destroyed a town. via an Albany blog reportedly listening to FM talkers Quinn and Rose this morning.
She said she would not have said these things “unless she had to,” and that she was told not to pass up an opportunity like this.
KS Governor Sebilius(sic) (D) said
1. Howard Dean called me at 5AM this morning and said we needed to “use this”.
2. [Senator] Dick [Durbin] called about two hours later and told me not to ask for federal help.
3. We had “too many” National Guard personnel
Allegedly, Sam Brownbackmay have some knowledge of this, given a discussion with the Kansas gov. If this firms up and is proved true, Howard Dean has to go. He doesn’t hold public office. He’s the responsibility of the Democrat Party. And if this is how their leadership reacts in a tragedy … he should resign.
I know radio talker and Fox Host Sean Hannity is exploring it, his show, as well as other conservative hosts, including Mark Levin can be found on line via WABC. Bush visited, you can watch his statement via link at sidebar here. He focused on lifting people’s spirits. Did Dean and the Dems do just the opposite for political gain?
You can rest assured that the Clinton political machine think cosa nostra) will quash this story of typical Clinton criminal behavior. The Dems define a culture of corruption - experts at dodging the law . - think Sandy Burglar, 100,000-Cold-Cash Jeffries, Harr- Las-Vegas-and-deal Reid, Nancy-Logan-Act Pelosi, Highly-Overpaid- Lover on the Payroll McGreevey, too long to list. No wonder they are trying to pass legislation to give convicts the vote .
The opposition is more powerful than I have ever witnessed in my lifetime — in my career. They have put together then most powerful political coalition, more powerful, that I have ever seen — well financed well coordinated . For the first time in my career coordinated with the media whether directly or indirectly.
And this coalition is available to Hilary Clinton because it was basically put together by the Clintonistas……..It’s an awesome machine we have to defeat.
Colbert King takes Senator Clinton to task for pocketing $800,000 from a fund raiser hosted by an attractive role model for today’s youth:
$800,000 that’s sitting in her presidential campaign coffers thanks to a fundraiser hosted in her honor March 31 in the Pinecrest, Fla., home of a huge Clinton fan who refers to himself as Timbaland…a well-heeled hip-hop producer and noted performer of the kind of misogynistic and denigrating lyrics that informed Don Imus’s derogatory comments about the Rutgers women’s basketball team.
Mrs. Clinton, you may recall, took umbrage at Imus’s remarks, branding them “small-minded bigotry and coarse sexism.” His words, she said in an e-mail to supporters, “showed a disregard for basic decency and were disrespectful and degrading to African Americans and women everywhere.”…
it must be asked why she was down in Florida making nice to — and pocketing big bucks from — a rapper whose obscenity-laced lyrics praise violence, perpetuate racist stereotypes and demean black women…Here are lyrics…
“Nigga Your Time Is Up, I Aint Come To Kid You
I Knew You Niggas Was Dumb, But How Dumb Is You . . .
I’m A Ride Or Die Nigga, I Be Tearing shit Up
We Aint Like Them Other Fools, Who Don’t Compare To Us
All The Hoes Love A Nigga, They be Backing It Up
But Me I Love Money I Be Stacking It Up . . .
I’m Rich I Can Pay To Have You Six Feet Deep (Nigga)”…“. . . Hoes coming up short? Hoes finna get cursed out!
. . . Slam the mask out of these hoes and they say, ‘What is that, velvet?’
And they betta meet they quota, betta yet betta meet they deadline . . . I’m a pimp all around
A pimp of the town — we pimpin ‘em up, HOES DOWN.”
Colbert King has an excellent point. It was correct of him to publish the lyrics in the Washington Post as well. People who are offended to see them there should be much more offended that they grace the public airways daily, and are a staple of many a tween’s iPod.
As for Senator Clinton, well, at least we were spared the sight of her meeting with the Rutgers basketball team to show her solidarity. That’s some small comfort.
WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Congress is keeping Andrews Air Force base plenty busy this year ferrying lawmakers all over the globe at taxpayers’ expense. Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi took his wife, nine Democrats and two Republicans - Reps. Dan Lungren of California and Mike Rogers of Alabama - on a whirlwind tour of the Caribbean last week. After stops in Honduras and Mexico, they stopped in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where the delegation stayed at the five-star Caneel Bay resort.
In a separate trip to the Caribbean last week, Rep. Eliot Engel of New York squired his wife and four Democratic members to Grenada and Trinidad.
All told, the military flew at least 13 congressional delegations to various destinations during the Easter recess — at an estimated rate of $10,000 or more per flying hour.
The congressional delegation trips, known as CODELs, are paid for by taxpayers. They are supposed to be directly related to members’ official duties, and House guidelines also stipulate that delegations include members of both parties to qualify for military planes — a requirement that Speaker Nancy Pelosi waived for Engel’s group and two other delegations.
Read the rest, but why bother, congress will continue to rip-off the American taxpayers because frankly y’all don’t give a shit and they know it.
When Pelosi became speaker and immediately bitched and moaned about wanting a bigger aircraft to take her family around the world the flood gates opened. These corrupt politicians know that the American people are either out of touch or are too stupid to care that they take golfing trips on their dime. Bon voyage!
Sheehan-linked ‘Peace House’ at war over ‘missing’ money
Saturday, April 7th, 2007
Bunch of lying conniving liberals, these bastards obviously scammed money from anti-Bush, anti-American types and what a shock the money is missing. Never ever trust liberals particularly when they are asking for donations, LOL!! *hillary*cough*hillary*
***
The Crawford Peace House, a home started by anti-war activists in the wake of “Peace Mom” Cindy Sheehan’s demonstrations outside President George Bush’s Texas ranch, has been accused of mismanaging tens of thousands of dollars in donations by an insurgent member who has seized legal control of the group’s name and is calling for a state investigation.
Sara L. Oliver, who left the group in 2005 following a dispute surrounding her efforts to secure grant funding for the organization, and other disaffected members have gone public with their suspicions and accusations against the Peace House, calling for an official investigation into why the group only has $14,700 in its bank account. Tens of thousands in donations, collected during Sheehan’s 2005 anti-war protest at the Crawford site, are unaccounted for, Oliver claims.
“There are people who have said, ‘Don’t say anything because you’ll hurt the peace movement,’” Oliver told Associated Press. “But if the peace movement isn’t pure and transparent and holy as it can be at its heart, then it’s just like George Bush: lying, thieving, conniving, backstabbing bastards.”
Fla. felons to regain rights more easily, Democrats Celebrate!
Thursday, April 5th, 2007
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Most Florida felons will regain voting and other civil rights more quickly after completing their sentences with changes approved Thursday by the governor and the state clemency board.
All but the most violent felons can now avoid waiting for a board hearing, a process that sometimes takes years.
Felon voting rights drew attention after the disputed 2000 presidential election, when many non-convicts were purged from voter rolls because of rampant errors in the state’s prison database.
Florida was one of three U.S. states, along with Kentucky and Virginia, with a lifetime requirement that felons take action to restore their civil rights. In most other states, those rights are restored once people complete prison, probation or parole.
Under the change, which takes effect immediately, Florida officials will automatically begin the rights-restoration process for felons when they finish their sentences. People who previously completed sentences but are still awaiting restoration of their rights will have to apply on their own because most are not tracked by the state after their release.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has abruptly walked away from her responsibilities with the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee after a report linked her votes to the financial well-being of her husband’s companies, which received billions of dollars worth of military construction contracts she approved.
As reported in Metroactive, an online report from the Silicon Valley, Feinstein’s resignation followed six years of subcommittee work during which time her alleged conflict of interest stemmed from her husband Richard C. Blum’s ownership of Perini Corp. and URS Corp.
Feinstein, chairman and ranking member of the subcommittee, regularly reviewed and accepted contracts from her husband’s companies for not only construction work for military bases, but also addressing “quality of life” issues for the veterans of the United States military services.
“As MILCON leader, Feinstein relished the details of military construction, even micromanaging one project at the level of its sewer design,” wrote Peter Byrne in the report. “She regularly took junkets to military bases around the world to inspect construction projects, some of which were contracted to her husband’s companies, Perini Corp. and URS Corp.”
He suggested perhaps Feinstein resigned “because she could not take the heat generated by metro’s expose of her ethics… Or was her work on the subcommittee finished because Blum divested ownership of his military construction and advanced weapons manufacturing firms in late 2005?”
I wonder if Code Pink will be camping out in front of her house?
Will anti war groups throw feces at her office windows?
Will anti war protesters be carrying “Fuck Feinstein” signs in front of the Capitol?
Will anti war groups call for an investigation into her pro war money deals?
After all she is responsible for all of the dead soldiers in Iraq is she not?
Feinstein’s family has pocketed by waging global warfare while ignoring the plight of wounded American soldiers, right?
The Club for Growth puts the heat on freshmen Blue Dog Democrats:
* Nancy Boyda (KS-2): Nancy Boyda recently came out in support of the pork-stuffed Iraq supplemental bill, but her campaign website told a different story. Running against Republican Jim Ryun, she wrote “Congress must never waste a single taxpayer dime on needless spending…Wasteful spending has increased exponentially in recent years.” Does Nancy Boyda think $75 million for peanut storage is not a waste of taxpayer dollars?
* Heath Schuler (NC-11): In his race to unseat Republican Representative Charles Taylor, the former football player attacked the incumbent Republican for his “irresponsible” earmarks (Wall Street Journal, 10/11/06) and said that “the people of North Carolina deserve better” (US Fed News Service, 10/11/06). We hope he remembers those words when it comes time to vote on the Iraq spending bill.
* Nick Lampson (TX-22): Nick Lampson campaigned on fiscal responsibility and took a harsh stand against congressional pork on his campaign website: “We have terrible waste in our government that can be addressed right now. We shouldn’t be spending on pork projects like bridges to nowhere in Alaska and a tea pot museum in North Carolina. We must set priorities and stick to them.” By that standard, Rep. Lampson should cast a “no” vote on the Iraq war spending bill.
* Tim Mahoney (FL-22): According to his campaign website, Rep. Tim Mahoney campaigned on wide-sweeping ethics reform that included a platform to “Cut the Pork.” Interestingly, the supplemental bill includes money for citrus growers in Rep. Mahoney’s district. Could that possibly have something to do with Tim Mahoney’s support for the Iraq supplemental bill?
* Harry Mitchell (AZ-5): Rep. Mitchell beat the fiscal responsibility drum on his campaign website: “Unfortunately, fiscal irresponsibility and pork-barrel spending has Washington swimming in red ink . . . In Congress, I will promote fiscal policy that is both responsible and accountable, just as I did at the local level.” Now that his own Democratic leadership is the one doing the drowning, will Rep. Mitchell have the courage to just say no?
(CNSNews.com) - As one of the top priorities on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) agenda, the House voted Thursday to create a select committee on global warming.
But this sort of time wasting bullshit is just criminal or boarder line insanity.
These idiots are going to waste my taxpayer money discussing a fucken scam.
“We are facing an issue which will test the capacity of democracy to respond in time to affect the fate of the planet,”
How this country manages to stay a world power, with this level of incompetence running the gubment is beyond me.
We need the assistance of the United Federation of Planets, it’s obvious that Ferengi disguised as Democrats are in charge.
From the Edwards Campaign, what a fucken liar. ANY politician who says they have a plan to give EVERYONE health care AND cuts costs is simply a flat out liar. Also pimping this lie to solicit fund raising is just criminal. What would Jesus think!?
****
Iowans—like all Americans—are seriously concerned about health care. And John is the only candidate in the race with a detailed plan to guarantee true universal health care while cutting everyone’s costs.
But you know the media; candidate food fights get way more attention than policy proposals. So we’ve got an ambitious plan to go straight to Iowa voters—but we need your help to pull it off.
We’ve made a powerful new video of John discussing his plan for universal health care. And this week, we’re mailing the Health Care DVD to every single one of the 70,000 families that participate in the Iowa caucus.
Can you chip in to help cover the costs? $50 dollars will cover the cost of producing and shipping the DVD to 15 Iowa households. $100 dollars will get our health care video to 30 crucial households. Will you help leave no caucus-goer behind?
It’s no wonder Iowans are concerned about health care:
*47 million Americans have no health insurance at all—265,000 of them in Iowa alone.
*Millions more know their families are just one pink slip or job change away from losing coverage. And for those lucky enough to have insurance, premiums, deductibles and other expenses are spiraling out of control.
John is the only candidate with a real plan to change all of this. Under John’s plan, every American would have guaranteed health coverage—no matter what. And for people who already have insurance, John’s plan will cut the cost of health care. But to make his plan a reality, we need your help to spread the word. Click here to learn more about John’s plan
Getting specific about the issues that matter isn’t just an effective way to win the election; it’s the right way to change the country. By reaching out directly to key voters on this crucial issue, you’re helping to build a groundswell of support strong enough to put John Edwards in the White House and make quality health care a reality for every American.
Remember, $25 reaches 7 households. $100 covers getting the video in front of 30 crucial families. And when caucus night comes, the Iowans you help us reach today could well make all the difference.
This isn’t bad political symbolism, like driving a state-leased Cadillac or buying expensive drapes. This is bad political judgment. Period.Governor Deval Patrick makes a telephone call to a top official at Citigroup on behalf of Ameriquest Mortgage. He tells the Globe he made the Feb. 20 call not in his role as governor, but after a personal request from a top official at ACC Capital Holdings, the firm that owns Ameriquest.Former attorney general Thomas Reilly fielded heavy criticism from me and others, when, as a candidate for governor, he made a telephone call to a Worcester district attorney on behalf of a grieving family who lost two teenage daughters. Reilly’s judgment was harshly questioned because he called the D.A. to remind him that the sisters’ autospy reports should not be released to the public. The call, I wrote then, “smacked of political favoritism.”
Now comes Patrick, who intervenes not on behalf of a grieving family, but on behalf of an economically pressed lending firm. Ameriquest Mortgage was seeking urgent financial assistance from Citigroup, which has multiple business interests in Massachusetts. He is asked to make a phone call to Citigroup by Adam Bass, senior executive and legal counsel to ACC Capital Holdings. Patrick, who resigned last year from the ACC board, makes the call, offering himself as a personal reference on ACC Capital Holdings.
Can Patrick really believe his personal identity is separate from his elected position? Does he really believe the recipient of that telephone call - former US Treasury secretary Robert E. Rubin, now a Citigroup executive - considered Patrick your average private citizen, and not governor of the Commonwealth, when he took it?
If Patrick does believe that, wow. He is not a new governor making rookie mistakes. He is a new governor who doesn’t understand what it means to hold public office.
The phone call to Citigroup doesn’t smack of political favoritism. It reeks of it.
Edwards wants money from Snoop….Uncontrollable laughter commences…
Just think, there were idiot bastards that actually responded to this crap and sent a few dead presidents.
It’s amazing people fall for this shit.

Did you hear about Anne Coulter’s speech this afternoon attacking John? A friend just forwarded me the video and it’s one of the worst moments in American politics I’ve seen.
I can’t bring myself to even repeat her comments. Her shameless display of bigotry is so outrageous you actually have to see for yourself to believe it.
This is just a taste of the filth that the right-wing machine is gearing up to throw at us. And now that it’s begun, we have a choice: Do we sit back, or do we fight back?
I say we fight. Help us raise $100,000 in “Coulter Cash” this week to show every would-be Republican mouthpiece that their bigoted attacks will not intimidate this campaign. I just threw in 100 bucks. Will you join me? Just click here.
Coulter’s attack was no accident. It happened on national television at one of the year’s biggest conservative conferences. Dick Cheney and most of the Republican candidates were in the audience. She was even introduced by Mitt Romney.
John was singled out for a personal attack because the Republican establishment knows he poses the greatest threat to their power. Since they have nothing real to use against him, Coulter’s resorting to the classic right-wing strategy of riling up hate to smear a progressive champion. And the Republican attack dogs will keep playing this despicable trick as long as they think it works.
But this time, you and I can change the game.
If we can raise $100,000 in “Coulter Cash” this week, we can show that bigotry will only backfire on those who use it. John is not the first progressive leader to face this kind of slime, but together, we can make sure he is one of the last.
Tonight, I’ve put in 100 bucks of “Coulter Cash” to get us started. Can you match me, or chip in whatever you can afford? Just click here:
Thanks,

Republicans Set to Block Jefferson’s Appointment to Homeland Security Panel
Thursday, March 1st, 2007
(Story Link) Republicans plan to force a floor vote on Rep. William Jefferson’s move to the Homeland Security Committee in an unprecedented maneuver to force Democrats to go on the record supporting their embattled colleague who is the target of a federal bribery investigation.
House Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) pledged to call for a recorded vote on the House floor when Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) introduces a resolution to make the Jefferson move official.
Pelosi removed Jefferson from the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee in response to Justice Department allegations that the Louisiana Democrat had accepted $100,000 in bribes and stored $90,000 of them in his freezer. The speaker then gave Jefferson a seat on the Homeland Security, and Democrats agreed to the change in a closed-door caucus in February.
“The idea that Homeland Security is less important than the tax-writing committee is ludicrous,” Blunt said Wednesday.
And House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) urged Democrats to reconsider “this baffling and troubling decision.”
“The Democrats previously determined Congressman Jefferson is unfit to serve on the Ways & Means Committee, which oversees the nation’s finances and trade,” Boehner said, “so it is difficult to comprehend how they can approve of Congressman Jefferson’s fitness for a seat on the Homeland Security Committee, with access to America’s most sensitive and closely-guarded intelligence information.”
Was searching through some You Tube stuff and found this, I thought what the heck why not post, nothing else going on.
Peter Franklin Paul is the Hollywood entrepreneur and former international lawyer who co-founded Stan Lee Media with Spider Man creator Stan Lee. His efforts during 2000 to hire Bill Clinton, after he left the White House in 2001, resulted in his underwriting and executive producing The Hollywood Gala Tribute Concert and Salute to President Clinton in August, 2000. Paul hired Grammy producer Gary Smith to produce the largest private concert ever produced and unseen by the public. The Gala was also the largest fund-raising event for Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaign. Hillary Clinton’s efforts to hide Paul’s role as her largest campaign contributor resulted in the criminal prosecution of her finance director and the FEC settlement with her campaign treasurer that forced an admission of filing false reports that hid more than $721,000 contributed by Paul.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants “routine access to military aircraft for domestic flights, such as trips back to her San Francisco district:”
The sources, who include those in Congress and in the administration, said the Democrat is seeking regular military flights not only for herself and her staff, but also for relatives and for other members of the California delegation. A knowledgeable source called the request “carte blanche for an aircraft any time.”
Generally restricted to official trips abroad, or for domestic flights to military bases or events to which the Pentagon invited the lawmaker, Pelosi’s request to grandly expand Congressional access to military aircraft is imperial in scope:
U.S. Air Force travel for VIPs such as members of Congress is first-rate. The planes are staffed with stewards who serve meals and tend an open bar. Communications suites allow members to conduct business while traveling.

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. — It’s hard to buy undeveloped land in booming northern Arizona for $166 an acre. But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid effectively did just that when a longtime friend decided to sell property owned by the employee pension fund that he controlled.
In 2002, the Nevada Democrat paid $10,000 to a pension fund controlled by Clair Haycock, a Las Vegas lubricant dealer and his friend for 50 years. The payment gave the senator full control of a 160-acre parcel in Bullhead City that Reid and the pension fund had jointly owned. Reid’s price for the equivalent of 60 acres of undeveloped desert was less than one-tenth of the assessed value at the time.
If Reid were to sell the property for any of the various estimates of its value, his gain on the $10,000 investment could range from $50,000 to $290,000.
Six months after the deal closed, Reid introduced legislation to address the plight of lubricant dealers who had their supplies disrupted by the decisions of big oil companies. It was an issue the Haycock family brought to Reid’s attention in 1994, according to a source familiar with the events. Reid’s legislation was unsuccessful.
It is a potential violation of congressional ethics for a member to accept anything of value–including a real estate discount–from a person with interests before Congress.
In a statement, Reid’s spokesman Jon Summers said the transaction was not a gift and that the price was due to the property’s history and the fact that only a partial interest was sold. Reid’s action on the lubricant issue was unrelated to the sale and reflected the senator’s interest in fairness for small businesses, Summers said.
Because an employee pension fund owned the land Reid purchased, a below-market sale raises additional questions, labor law experts said. Pension fund trustees have a duty in most cases to sell assets for their market value, the experts said.
“I think this would have been considered a potentially serious issue” at the time, said Ian Lanoff, who led the Labor Department’s pension division during the Carter administration and was provided basic details of the case–though not the identity of the lawmaker. “Theoretically it’s a serious issue for the trustee who sold the property, though practically it may not be” because the plan is now closed and its obligations were met.
John Haycock said workers received all promised benefits from the Haycock Distributing Co. pension plan and were unaffected by the land transaction. Federal records confirm that.
See I know you people don’t care about this shit; United States Senators get sweetheart deals all the time.
But lets not forget, the Democrats are in charge now, I distinctly remember the Democrats saying before the 2006 elections that they were going to clean up Washington and end the culture of corruption in Washington.
Now folks I knew that was a lie, but what I also find interesting is how under reported this story is. Google News has just a handful of references to this story.
Sounds like the culture of corruption is simply being swept under the rug.
