‘This Is How We Lost to the White Man’ - “The audacity of Bill Cosby’s black conservatism”

Friday, April 11th, 2008

This article is by Ta-Nehisi Coates from The Atlantic

Last summer, in Detroit’s St. Paul Church of God in Christ, I watched Bill Cosby summon his inner Malcolm X. It was a hot July evening. Cosby was speaking to an audience of black men dressed in everything from Enyce T-shirts or polos to blazers and ties. Some were there with their sons. Some were there in wheelchairs. The audience was packed tight, rows of folding chairs extended beyond the wooden pews to capture the overflow. But the chairs were not enough, and late arrivals stood against the long shotgun walls, or out in the small lobby, where they hoped to catch a snatch of Cosby’s oratory. Clutching a cordless mic, Cosby paced the front of the church, shifting between prepared remarks and comic ad-libs. A row of old black men, community elders, sat behind him, nodding and grunting throaty affirmations. The rest of the church was in full call-and-response mode, punctuating Cosby’s punch lines with laughter, applause, or cries of “Teach, black man! Teach!”He began with the story of a black girl who’d risen to become valedictorian of his old high school, despite having been cosby.jpgabandoned by her father. “She spoke to the graduating class and her speech started like this,” Cosby said. “‘I was 5 years old. It was Saturday and I stood looking out the window, waiting for him.’ She never said what helped turn her around. She never mentioned her mother, grandmother, or great-grandmother.”

“Understand me,” Cosby said, his face contorted and clenched like a fist. “Men? Men? Men! Where are you, men?”

Audience: “Right here!”

Cosby had come to Detroit aiming to grab the city’s black men by their collars and shake them out of the torpor that has left so many of them—like so many of their peers across the country—undereducated, over-incarcerated, and underrepresented in the ranks of active fathers. No women were in the audience. No reporters were allowed, for fear that their presence might frighten off fathers behind on their child-support payments. But I was there, trading on race, gender, and a promise not to interview any of the allegedly skittish participants.

“Men, if you want to win, we can win,” Cosby said. “We are not a pitiful race of people. We are a bright race, who can move with the best. But we are in a new time, where people are behaving in abnormal ways and calling it normal … When they used to come into our neighborhoods, we put the kids in the basement, grabbed a rifle, and said, ‘By any means necessary.’

“I don’t want to talk about hatred of these people,” he continued. “I’m talking about a time when we protected our women and protected our children. Now I got people in wheelchairs, paralyzed. A little girl in Camden, jumping rope, shot through the mouth. Grandmother saw it out the window. And people are waiting around for Jesus to come, when Jesus is already within you.”

Cosby was wearing his standard uniform—dark sunglasses, loafers, a sweat suit emblazoned with the seal of an institution of higher learning. That night it was the University of Massachusetts, where he’d gotten his doctorate in education 30 years ago. He was preaching from the book of black self-reliance, a gospel that he has spent the past four years carrying across the country in a series of events that he bills as “call-outs.” “My problem,” Cosby told the audience, “is I’m tired of losing to white people. When I say I don’t care about white people, I mean let them say what they want to say. What can they say to me that’s worse than what their grandfather said?”

From Birmingham to Cleveland and Baltimore, at churches and colleges, Cosby has been telling thousands of black Americans that racism in America is omnipresent but that it can’t be an excuse to stop striving. As Cosby sees it, the antidote to racism is not rallies, protests, or pleas, but strong families and communities. Instead of focusing on some abstract notion of equality, he argues, blacks need to cleanse their culture, embrace personal responsibility, and reclaim the traditions that fortified them in the past. Driving Cosby’s tough talk about values and responsibility is a vision starkly different from Martin Luther King’s gauzy, all-inclusive dream: it’s an America of competing powers, and a black America that is no longer content to be the weakest of the lot.

Recession, Ron Paul fans, Drama Queen Conservatives, still not voting for McCain

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

The only political candidate worthy of my vote!

From Sweetness & Light

War News Good? Let’s Create A Recession - A search for the term “recession” in the pages of the New York Times turns up 210 results just in the past 30 days

Ron Paul Nutbars Crow About Nevada - From Brainsters Blog

You know you’re pathetic when you point to a state where you got 14% of the vote in a state caucus where you ran the only TV ads. An LA Times blogger enthuses:

Boy, oh, boy! Hidden behind all the hoopla, headlines and the Nevada caucus victories of Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton is one little-noticed but stunning political development and number:Ron Paul, the one-time Libertarian candidate and 10-term Republican congressman from Texas, was in second place. That’s right, Second Place. The 72-year-old ob-gyn who’s always on the end of the line at GOP debates or barred altogether, was running ahead of John McCain, Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, in fact, ahead of….all other Republicans except Romney, who easily captured his second state in a week after Michigan.

Woooooot! The Ron Paul Love Revolution is surging!

Also from Brainster - Drama Queen Conservative Bloggers

Add Jeff Goldstein to the list: I will not, will not, vote for John McCain.Oh, and he won’t vote for Mike Huckabee, either, and would have to hold his nose to vote for Mitt Romney. If Fred doesn’t win the nomination then Jeff’s going to sit this one out. LOL! Funniest thing Goldstein’s ever written. One of John Hawkins’ weekend guests does a little DQ herself:Jeff captures my ennui perfectly. And this reminds me of what I’ve written before: bloggers are a different breed than the average American. The air we breath on the conservative side is as rarefied as the air breathed in newsrooms around America. No, it’s as rarefied as the air breathed in the liberal blogosphere. And I mean that seriously. The idiot lib-bloggers spent all of 2006 trying to beat a Democrat because he was an apostate on one issue. The conservative bloggers look like they’re going to be spending all of 2008 trying to beat a Republican because he was an apostate on one issue. And don’t try to convince me it’s more than that one issue. McCain-Feingold? Tell me that you’re seriously going to sit out an election because of campaign finance laws. Torture (which Goldstein mentions)? Hey, I disagree with the senator on that issue, but guess what? He actually knows what torture is like, unlike Jeff or me.

You know, everybody on the conservative side of the aisle got a big laugh out of the gag that Hillary’s new theme song was, “It’s My Party, and I’ll Cry If I Want To”, and now what happens? Less than two weeks later, they’re singing it too!

*****************
Oh what the hell, so I’m a drama Queen Conservative Blogger, I’m still not voting for McCain. John McCain can kiss my black ass and any blogger who is supporting him who wants to write this trifling bullshit chastising me for my political decision making can also kiss my black ass.

I said before and I will keep saying, the Democrats can have the fucken White House; I don’t give a shit anymore.
McCain all of these years has been comfortable with kissing the collective asses of Democrats and he is frankly more comfortable with them than he is with his right leaning homies.

The more posts like this I read from McCain pimps just makes me laugh.
Fucken people on these radio talks shows getting on the air and sounding off about these sorry ass candidates, it’s not only irritating it is downright embarrassing.
The political contenders in this election cycles, candidates on both sides of the political aisle are all idiots. I must admit that I frankly feel like a complete jackass for falling for Freds faux candidacy. It was clear that he did not want the gig, I knew this from the beginning but I was searching for something, anything to latch on to. I was a fool, particularly since I posted my support here.
That won’t happen again.

Nobody can convince me that any of these people are worthy of my vote, they all suck; America has successfully fucked the presidential selection process. I seriously doubt that we will ever have a candidate who is truly worthy of the position.
Anyone worthy of the position is too smart to run.
We will be forever left with sinister, lying ass, soulless, pandering slugs who are not even deserving of being mayor of Mayberry much less the most powerful position on the planet.
All these candidates need to do is bullshit (lie to) enough dolts, speak somewhat eloquently blurt out a few crap phrases and magically you have a candidate.

John McCain supporters keep bringing up his time in the Hanoi Hilton, like being a POW automatically shoots you to the front of the presidential line.
POW or not, if your political ideology is full of holes, then you won’t get my vote.
If that draws the ire of you McCain supporters then screw you.

Me conservative, me no read books

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

geico2.jpg.
This from Michelle Malkin

Pat Schroeder, the old feminist Democrat who cried when she withdrew from a presidential bid in 1987, retired from Congress in 1997, and now serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Association of American Publishers, where they think it is wise to trash and mock conservative consumers. What does she think of you and me? We’re Neanderthals, of course:

Liberals read more books than conservatives. The head of the book publishing industry’s trade group says she knows why—and there’s little flattering about conservative readers in her explanation.“The Karl Roves of the world have built a generation that just wants a couple slogans: ‘No, don’t raise my taxes, no new taxes,’” Pat Schroeder, president of the American Association of Publishers, said in a recent interview. “It’s pretty hard to write a book saying, ‘No new taxes, no new taxes, no new taxes’ on every page.”

Schroeder, who as a Colorado Democrat was once one of Congress’ most liberal House members, was responding to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll that found people who consider themselves liberals are more prodigious book readers than conservatives.

She said liberals tend to be policy wonks who “can’t say anything in less than paragraphs. We really want the whole picture, want to peel the onion.”

Here’s the poll Schroeder’s referring to, but the gulf in book reading that Schroeder perceives is not backed up by the actual poll results: Read the rest at Michelle Malkin

My two cents:

Ok I’m gonna say something that you white people can’t say because you of course would be defined as racist.
Most illegal immigrants, Hispanics, whatever are uneducated and they vote Democrat.

90 percent of black folks, considering the dropout rate of black folks from high school vote Democrat.
Compare the likes of Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Clarence Thomas, Jesse Lee Peterson, Shelby Steele, Stanley Crouch, Star Parker, John McWhorter, with idiot liberal Democrats like;

Jessie “Scam” Jackson, Al “perm” Sharpton, Ray “Chocolate City” Nagin, Corey “Sanctuary Negro” Booker, Major “40 million shark eaten slaves” Owens, Cynthia “Mad Black Woman” McKinney, Shiela “damm they voted for me” Jackson Lee, hell anyone in the Congressional Negro Congress and any Negro mayor of a decrepit decaying major American city.

Let’s not forget the liberal hippies I trip over while browsing downtown Lawrence, I don’t see them reading any books. I do admire how they like to trash the bathrooms at Boarders throwing feces on the walls (true story, no joke).
And most liberals are young skulls full of mush, young Democrat types whose burning desire to be part of something blindly jump onto political Democrat bandwagons without processing the lunacy propagated by your run of the mill liberal politician.

I don’t get how people come up with this perceived “intelligence” gap between us Conservative types and liberals.
So Snoop does not read Harry Potter, Harlequin romance or cryptic sci-fi novels.
I easily read enough blog, news, and editorial, material equal to a good size book a week.
Anywho, I can’t wait for the day when they can implant book knowledge directly into my brain like Commander Data, so I don’t have to take away from my video game playing time.

To hell with the dogs until people count

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By Mychal Massie - At WorldNetDaily - Article Link

peta2.jpgBlacks, at the urging of their so-called leadership, are often quick to become incited at the least provocation – real or perceived. At times, this has been well-documented to lead to riot and mayhem. Now, if there were ever a justifiable time to tear down the personified fences of racial injustice and storm the castles of those who, with forethought and malicious genocidal intent, propagate and perpetuate an injustice so sinister as to be without equal, today should be the day for all blacks to rally. It is a day that so-called black leadership should storm the halls of Congress and demand an end to this evil. But they are silent. What am I talking about? I’m talking about the furor that now rages over Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick’s alleged involvement in dog fighting and the brutal killing and the double standard of same.

In the past seven days, approximately 10,500 unborn, defenseless black children have been murdered by abortionists. Abortionists supported by the “prince” who would be king – Barack Hussein Obama – the Congressional Black Caucus, Jesse Jackson, Julian Bond and the NAACP, and Mark Morial, president and CEO of the National Urban League.

Jeanine Pirro, Republican politician, lawyer and prosecutor from New York, appearing on “Hannity & Colmes” Friday said, “These are innocents. … These dogs are bred in silence and raised to tear one another apart. … These dogs cannot lie; the facts speak for themselves.” I submit that children are bred to be loved and nurtured, not sucked out of wombs or burned to death in them, and those facts do not lie either.

Where is the outrage, as over 40,000 black children a month are ripped apart in what should be their most sacred sanctuary? It has been said that Vick’s image will be alongside “vicious, vile images” of dog fighting. Where is the outrage over the image of Margaret Sanger, the patron saint of genocide who, out of contempt for the poor, the black poor specifically, advocated the murder of innocent black children under the guise of a woman’s right to choose?

How many black families will have their lives affected positively or negatively by the alleged barbarous indulgences of Vick? Juxtapose that question by asking how many black scientists, doctors, teachers, lawyers, politicians, diplomats, world leaders, business persons, inventors, ad nauseum have been murdered?

Pirro made a name for herself prosecuting domestic abuse and violence-against-women cases. Is not inserting the equivalent of vacuum hoses into women and ripping apart their unborn children violence against same?

The priorities of America are wrong. The nation and animal-rights groups are beside themselves because a few dogs have been mistreated and destroyed, yet these same people and activist groups support and advocate the slaughter of unborn children. And even worse, if possible, they advocate the breeding of innocent human life for scientific experiments, vis-à-vis embryonic stem cell research.

Liberal blacks and whites loudly applaud those who are quick to blame conservatives and pursue race-based agitprop. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have been invigorated by the allegations against Vick, all the way to their cash registers. Media outlets are beating paths to their doors for comments and appearances. But nowhere is it mentioned that from July 1998 through December 2000, PETA killed over 14,400 dogs, cats and “companion animals.” They stored the dead animals in a walk-in freezer, while contracting with a Virginia Beach company to cremate them. In 2005 alone, they murdered 90.7 percent of the animals they received, while adopting out a paltry 6.8 percent.

Yet these and others are the ones now castigating Vick. Perhaps we should run commercials showing pictures of the fragmented baby parts, tossed in closets, that Obama supported as an Illinois legislator beside one of the dead dogs allegedly belonging to Vick. Maybe we should show the faces of women who have had their internal organs irreparably injured by abortionists alongside said dogs. Or perhaps we should show the children who were aborted alive and living today alongside one of Vick’s dogs – children, I might add, that Obama not only refused to support, but fought against by opposing legislation to protect same while an Illinois legislator.

If ever there were a reason and a time for blacks to rally, that time is now. Instead, their cacophony of silence is deafening. I say, to hell with the dogs until people count.

The Erebusic evil of child genocide, black child genocide specifically, must be stopped. And for those Magdalenian liberals who are as unfamiliar with the name Erebus as they are Greek Mythology, Gene Wolf or Anne Rice – abortion is indeed the very personification of the darkness and hell that shadows our society.

Man I’ve been all over the net and did not see this post or anything like this article until I went to a black Moderate/Conservative, imagine that.
Anywho, now don’t get me wrong, Michael Vick is guilty as hell and should go to jail as I have already stated, but this dude is right. There is always far more outrage at missing or dead white kids and dogs than black kids. But hey, let’s not get in the way of political expediency for liberal Democrats.

Negro liberal Democrats : (Barack Hussein Obama – the Congressional Black Caucus, Jesse Jackson, Julian Bond and the NAACP, and Mark Morial, president and CEO of the National Urban League) are on leashes themselves courtesy of the Democratic Party so they can’t say shit. It’s about getting those votes and money from the black community, the fact that 10,500 unborn, defenseless black children have been murdered by abortionists is irrelevant.

J.K. Rowling is a Conservative

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

hp.jpgFrom the blog Gay Patriot
I have not read a single Harry Potter book, (ya know black folks don’t read….just kidding…slightly) but Mrs. Snoop has, so I wonder if she or daughter-in-law Misty would agree with this:

********

Until just a few minutes ago, I was under the spell of the last of the Harry Potter books and expect to post something on that in a few minutes — or maybe a hour or so. All I can say is “WOW!” I guessed some things right (but also got a lot wrong) about certain characters. Still, I couldn’t put the book down and wanted to finish it before I heard the ending from anyone else. Not only does she borrow images, characters and expression from mythologiy, but more importantly, Rowling borrows great themes from these ancient stories.

Pehaps, someone in my graduate program should write a dissertation on the Harry Potter series as myth — as I had once considered writing such a thesis about The Lord of the Rings.

And with her story, we see that Rowling is a conservative, if not in name, at least in her philosophy. Thematically, she has much, oh so much, in common with C.S. Lewis.
