Barack Obama recruits staff to fight web smears

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Story Link

The new unit will combat online rumour campaigns, including allegations that he is neither a Christian nor a patriotic American.

Since he launched his presidential campaign, the Illinois senator has faced inaccurate claims that he attended a madrassa, or religious school, as a child when his family lived in Indonesia.

His Kenyan father, who left the family when he was two years old, was a non-practising Muslim. But Mr Obama began worshipping at the Trinity United Church in Chicago more than 20 years ago.

Nonetheless, he has endured repeated smears by Right-wing bloggers (like Snoop at Political Party Poop) and in December a Clinton volunteer stepped down after forwarding an email falsely stating that Mr Obama is Muslim.

In April, he accused his Democratic primary rival Hillary Clinton of using “shameful” smear tactics after a picture of the Illinois senator wearing tribal robes in a Muslim region of Kenya was circulated on the internet.

The photograph, which was taken in 2006 during an official trip, appeared on the front page of the Drudge Report, where rival campaigns typically try to place damaging material.

The senator’s patriotism has also been the subject of fierce online debate, with bloggers vilifying his decision not to wear the American flag lapel pin beloved of US politicians. (He has recently started wearing one occasionally.)

The senator’s patriotism was further called into question in February, when a tape surfaced of his wife telling supporters that the success of her husband’s campaign meant that “for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country”.

Extracts from her university thesis, in which she expressed a sense of racial alienation, sparked further rows over the couple’s patriotism.

While polls indicate that race will not be a decisive factor for the majority of voters, patriotism and background count in the US, and as he focuses his attention on November, the senator will fight misconceptions of his background with a series of biographical speeches and advertisements as he embarks on a three-week tour of swing states.

But the Democratic candidate for president has also benefited from positive internet exposure, with videos of the “Obama Girls” and the celebrity-filled “Yes We Can” song becoming online sensations.

The latest Gallup poll puts Mr Obama in the lead with 48 per cent to Mr McCain’s 41 per cent. A CBS News poll gives Mr Obama 48 per cent against the Republican candidate’s 42 per cent.

Blog Watch - Average Bro’s New “Man-Laws” For Young Black Males

From the blog: The Secret Council of American Negroes

Post: Average Bro’s New “Man-Laws” For Young Black Males

This a cross-posting from our blackness historian and pop culturalist, Average Bro. Here he examines how we at the Secret Council of American Negroes and other Negroes across our nation can help our wayward youth.

As ya’ll know, AverageBro Loves Da’ Kids. My site’s ulterior motive is to convince you guys to Take The AverageBro Challenge and spend an occasional Saturday morning with an impressionable Black youth. I talked hella greasy about Atlanta rapper TI for trying to knock off his community service by speaking to Atlanta-area teens last month. But reality is if more black folks who’ve “made it” took a moment to help others out, there would be no such need. Basically, if you’re not doing anything to prevent the next Latarian Milton, Genarlow Wilson, or Bryant Purvis, you shouldn’t say jack when the inevitable happens.

Stepping off my high horse, I witnessed something truly odd today when I went to the mall to grab some Mother’s Day gifts. As I was getting out of my car, a gold sedan packed four-deep with young black teens pulled up in the spot adjacent to me. The dudes were typical suburban wannabe thugs. Oversized cubic zirconia earrings. Pinwheel New Era caps. Those stupid lookin’ skater hoodies. This in and of itself is nothing notable, but what really hit me was the music they had blaring at 120 decibels from their stereo.

Deez bamas were riding four deep in the burbs, blastin’ Moments In Love by Art of Noise.

For the folks finding my blog via The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler, PA Pundits, Barking Moonbat and others, (I will populate my blogroll with my new friends later), I sincerely thank you for the props.
I have had this blog up for two years (April 2 officially) and my other blog the Snoop Zone for over a year.
I am not use to getting so many comments, so forgive the delay in replying.

“Where have I been hiding?” Some ask…. Well y’all must keep in mind is I have been shunned by many on the right wing blog side because I am so outspoken and I speak open and candidly throwing in some choice four letter words that some find offensive. Boo fucken hoo!

I have been told as much from some prominent bloggers on the right years ago.
I’m not some prim and proper literary or writing master like Thomas Sowell or Shelby Steele although I have greatly admire their work since Rush mentioned Sowell in the early years of his radio broadcast in the early 90’s.
I was told by one dude that he could not link to me because of the “over the top” nature of my comments.
I have been expelled from blog sites both right wing and left wing for being too inflammatory.

Folks I’m not a bomb thrower, I speak from the heart, even tho some may regard my rants as “crude and unnecessary”.
I am very appreciative of folks who “get me” people like my buds El Borak and the man known as “Dot Dot.” and of course Mrs. Snoop. Please keep the comments coming, I enjoy reading what others have to say via other blogs or blog comments as much as I do ranting about political poop shit.
I’m excited about getting the chance to check out some new blogs.

Oh and guest rants are ALWAYS welcomed, especially from folks who may not agree with what I say. Feel free to send them via my e-mail larryvillesnoop@hotmail.com.
I don’t censor rants or comments. After all this is fucken America.
Think of this blog kinda like an internet overpass. Just supply your own can of spray paint.

Peace, Snoop

“You make a mockery out of the blogsphere, your racist rants and horrible photos do nothing but inspire hatred and division. You desperately need counseling”

I’ll give you folks time to digest that little e-mail note to me.

Now those of you who know me can just imagine my glee at receiving this note. I felt a little tingle down my spine, my face became flushed, but in a good way!

I don’t write as much as I should, I like to digest the keyboard symphonies performed by many of my blog heroes. However after receiving this note I am compelled to try and attempt to conduct what might not be considered a symphony but well maybe a crude bluegrass tune.

I know from time to time I should show some “good will” towards others in the spirit of humanity, but folks I don’t have this blog to espouse charitable feelings towards those who seek to fuck up society via corruption, lies, ignorance and deceit.

I was having a conversation with my older brother the other day and we often talk about how we are getting exceedingly tired of dealing with, reading about and witnessing the ongoing antics of dumb ass Niggas fucking shit up and having those of us in the Negro community no matter
how much we rail against the idiot antics of people like the Detroit mayor, or that idiot fuck Governor in New York, “freezer burn” Jefferson, Cynthia McKinney, Nigga Nagin in Nola. All of us with the same pigmentation are forever linked to the ongoing failures of prominent idiot Negros.
In addition, what makes it worse is the fact that major news networks march an endless parade of retarded idiot Negros who are more than willing to defend the colossal ignorance of these people while white folks snicker and malign.

BUT…BUT my photos and racist rants inspire “division.”

I wrote in a previous post that since I am a Negro I genuinely care about what happens to Negros, although I will freely admit that as I get older my “give a fuck” window is slowly closing.

Black folks have an innate sense of kinship. We tend to notice each other in areas where white folks dominate. We tend to give a friendly eye contact glance to each other as we pass by. Our past programs us to reach out to each other in very subtle ways.
This explains why in some ways no matter how much our fellow brothas and sistas fuck up, Negros will tend to circle the wagons around each other.

People I am growing weary of trying to figure out why folks who share (a part) of my heritage and skin pigmentation are increasingly engaged in the practice of ignorant Negrodom.

Negros desperate for a sense of direction absorb the rants of jackasses like Rev. J. Wright and the empty nonsense of individuals like Louis Farrakhan.
None are willing to examine the damage of Negro “entitlement” programs that have done immeasurable damage to black folks.
We now have an entire class of people in this country who “expect” others to do everything for them, including subsidize their very existence, and they don’t want it done cheap but done so expeditiously.

Poverty is generational, Negro families are living in the same projects and slums inhabited by prior deadbeat, uneducated folks of the past.
If you managed to have good decent, educated, logical parents you are less likely to be locked into the “whitey is evil” mentality and you are more than likely to be at the very least not totally foreign to education and knowledge.

However Negroes are constantly bombarded and asked to buy into the rhetoric of lack of educational opportunities and white racism.
Forget about the fact that this generational poverty is a direct result of the Great Society programs implemented by the Johnson administration in the mid 60s, programs that were put into place to “correct” problems that were exaggerated by the “enlightened” of the time, “problems” that were, in actuality, declining no thanks to any major help from the federal government.

Liberals believe that the 1960s was the beginning of many progressive trends in American society. However anyone paying just a tiny bit of attention knows that the cold hard facts tell a very different story.
The 1960s marked the end of many beneficial trends that had been going on for years and a complete reversal of those trends as programs, policies, and ideologies of the liberals took hold.

Trends such as teenage pregnancy had been going down for years as well as venereal disease. There were similar trends in the reduction of crime. The total number of murders in the United States in 1960 was lower than in 1950, 1940, or 1930’s even though the population was
growing and two new states had been added. The murder rate, in proportion to population, in 1960 was half of what it had been in 1934.

Black families were prospering, they were intact, they were engaged into the fabric of society, and they were becoming educated.

Liberals looking back on the 1960s take special pride in their role on racial issues, for civil rights laws and the advancement of blacks out of poverty. Those riots that threatened to tear the country apart were race riots and supposedly the liberals saved us all.

Anybody reading this particular blog will already know that both the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 had a higher percentage of Congressional Republicans voting for their enactment than the percentage of Congressional Democrats.
Despite that Negro bloggers, journalist, race pundits, pulpit poverty pimps, still work feverishly to castigate the small independent numbers of Negros like myself who can and have always seen clearly through the fraud and deceit.

Keeping silent little meaningless facts like in 1869, the Republican Congress passed the 15th Amendment, making it illegal to deny any male the right to vote because of race. This led to Republican inroads into the solid Democrat South, with thousands of new black Republican voters
and 17 new black Republican members of Congress. Democrats gradually regained their dominance in the South, at least partly due to organized campaigns to suppress the black vote through intimidation, violence and murder.

Or in 1901, Republican President Theodore Roosevelt invited prominent educator and activist Booker T. Washington to dinner at the White House the first black person to be extended this honor. Roosevelt also defended black government appointees, and spoke out for school
desegregation.

Or when poor black families continued to be saddled with inferior schools for the first half of the twentieth century, in 1957, Republican President Dwight Eisenhower, faced with Southern Democrat defiance of federal school desegregation regulations, sent federal troops to Little
Rock, Arkansas, to enforce the rules. Following this crisis, Eisenhower endorsed and pushed through Congress the Civil Rights Bill of 1957, the first civil rights legislation passed since the Civil War era. The legislation passed despite Southern Democrat resistance.

However deception is how Negroes operate. One black blogger accessing whether or not black people were indeed becoming more enlightened by the deceit and corruption of the Democratic Party said this:

The danger lies, not in mass Black defections from the Democrats, but in Republican efforts to dissuade from voting “younger and weaker self identifying Democratic African Americans… a cohort that is increasingly open to Republican negative messaging about Democrats.”

Think about that for a minute. Go to the photo collage I have below highlighting some of most corrupt ignorant ass Negro politicians on the planet and ask yourself why would Republicans need to spend any time “falsely” injecting negative messaging of Democrats when idiot Negros
are perfectly willing display their colossal ignorance to the world!

Black leaders and that includes everyone from politicians to preachers have failed black folks in ways that many will never be able to overcome.
Education continues to be the biggest downfall for black folks and if this trend does not reverse itself and quick, blacks will become a permanent underclass helped along by the fact that illegal Mexicans will no doubt fill the working class gaps that will be vacated by uneducated
or incarcerated Negros.

If willful ignorance could be classified as a disease, there would be an (incurable) epidemic in the Democratic Party and specifically amongst the black populace.

Willful ignorance that have blinded Negros to the fact that Democrats refuse to address the black genocide in America through abortion, nearly 90 percent of all abortion facilities are in or near minority communities and over 43 percent of all black pregnancies end in abortion
this is nothing less than a predatory removal of blacks from American society.

If they are not aborted, willful ignorance camouflages that fact that 7 out of 10 black children are born out of wedlock Half of young black men are now unemployed and have 30 percent chance of serving time in prison before age 30.
40 percent of black men drop out of high school of those, 72 percent are jobless, and the likelihood of being incarcerated jumps to 60 percent.

Despite all of that somehow I still manage to care a little for the plight of black folks, but that is fading day by day.
I will admit on occasion I do catch myself feeling a tad bit guilty about some of the shit I write while at the same time feeling a bit powerless to “rescue” my peeps. Silly Snoop!

I wonder, what I will do when I get to the point where I just say fuck it! If you want to be an ignorant jackass this is indeed a free country.
If you willingly choose to immerse yourself in idiot racist black apologetic dogma espoused by people like George Curry, Al Sharpton, Ron Walters, Jessie Jackson, Tavis Smiley, Rowland Martin, Julianne Malveaux just to name a few and any number of scamming ass poverty pulpit pimps like Rev Calvin Butts and Rev J. Wright (Obama’s spiritual advisor) who have made explaining Negro failings via white racism profitable and career building.

When you are a free thinking Negro and especially if you reject Negro stupidity you have already been banished from the Negro collective.
You know I find that rather spiritually refreshing.
I find my mocking of Negrodom via the blogsphere as a necessary public service. I could care less how people perceive it. I am 100 percent honest about what I think. When I cease being candid about my thoughts and opinions is the day I retire this blog.

Help! I’m an Internet troll!

Monday, February 4th, 2008

troll.jpgOk, I have been a lazy ass the last several days. I am just now peeking at my own damm blog and catching up on what is going on in the blog jungle.
I’ll be honest; the reality of a John McCain nomination just makes me want to puke up major chunks. The guy is a fucken disaster waiting to happen and there are folks desperately trying to prop this old bastard up and selling the country on his “conservative” credentials. Watching his campaign commercial where he actually claims this conservatism is as annoying as the “Head On” commercial.

Anywho, as I start my blog journey today, here is a piece from Salon.com sent by my daughter in law that slightly smells of me.
Back in my Lawrence.com blog days, (my old rants here) I use to have some heated exchanges with the liberals on the site and some accused me of simply being a bomb thrower, well I kinda was, it twas fun!

I think it’s odd that everyone who comments on my site, where I freely throw out heated opinion and more than a few “Fuck You’s” the only people who comment here are really nice and polite folks.
I almost wish I had trolls, but I’m well aware that trolls only comment where then can get a reaction out of the site host.
I am one of the few blogs dudes who never censors comments and would welcome a heated exchange. But liberals frankly are too chicken shit to pick a fight with a conservative right wing black dude. Fucken racists!!! LOL!

I go on right-wing sites and say provocative things. Why do I do it? You think they’ll come after me?
By Cary Tennis - Salon.com

I am an Internet troll. I love to go to bulletin boards and stir up trouble. For example, I often read right-wing blogs just to keep up with the enemy, as it were, and end up making comments (all of which I truly believe by the way) that infuriate the other posters. I know I won’t convince anyone in these places of my point of view. So why on earth am I so drawn to this? Do you think it’s a problem? And while I’m at it, do you think these forums are really anonymous? There have been times when my perceived lack of support for Bush or the troops has led to violent threats made by other posters.I am a highly educated professional with two graduate degrees. I don’t bait people in my real life — I get along well most of the time with my family (even those with opposing political beliefs) and have a stable marriage and many friends. So why am I such a troll?Big, Green and HairyDear Big, Green and Hairy,

There are ditches and culverts on the Internet where you can hide and throw eggs and yell “Fuck you!”When I was a kid my brother and I would go out “on patrol” at night. We were saboteurs of the common peace. We carried cherry bombs and matches. Territory that was forbidden to us by day was open to us at night: soft, well-watered, manicured lawns; mysterious carports devoid of cats; the spaces around ranch houses under their windows, in the shadows of the streetlights. We would lie in ditches awaiting movement from the neighbors. We would find a target of opportunity and light a cherry bomb and run. We wrecked things at night and ran away. We tipped things over and blew things up. We yelled “Fuck you!” from the shadows and ran.We ran in a fever of laughter and fear. We would arrive at our back window out of breath and silently listen for sounds of pursuit. Sometimes a cop car would cruise slowly down the street without headlights, searching for the boys who had yelled “Fuck you.”

The impulse to yell “Fuck you!” from the shadows does not just disappear with adulthood. If you have two advanced degrees, then you have spent a lot of your life indoors, sitting or standing in the offices of your superiors, controlling your impulses and pretending to be rational. You have filled out many forms. You have presented yourself as “normal.” You have restrained yourself. You have acted like a professional. You probably act like a professional all day long. The way they keep us cooped up in offices all day, it’s no wonder that occasionally we just like to shout an insult.

So what of the right-wingers you taunt? You think they’re going to come after you? You think they’re going to egg your house? That’s the risk you take. That’s the risk we all take. We say our piece and we wait for the replies.

You have to figure the right-wingers can take it. They’re supposed to be the tough ones, aren’t they? You have to figure they can take a little graffiti on their lily-white walls. Heck, I take my share. We all do.

So why do you do it? I’d say maybe you do it for the thrill and the satisfaction of saying your piece. And I must remember that everything I say about why you might do this applies to why people might do this to me. I know they’re getting their kicks. I’m an adult now and the kids come by and egg the house. I know. I remember two things from childhood: How one wanted to egg the big kids and how one wanted to speak truth to power — power being at that time teachers, administrators and parents. They said such incredibly stupid things and they were running the school. It was infuriating.

So what about the kid who wants to throw cherry bombs? Maybe this is about that kid. There are bushes on the Internet where you can hide and throw things. There are dark, late-night sidewalks where you can walk looking for victims. You can say things on the Internet and run away.

So consider this in a broader context: You’re a grown-up now. You have two advanced degrees. You act rational all day long. How do you let the animal out? How do you express your aggression these days? Do you box? Do you fence? Do you play chess? How do you engage in competition and conflict? Where is that side of you, that boy who wants to sneak out at night and throw cherry bombs at the neighbors? Maybe you need to buy him a bicycle or a pair of boxing gloves.

Stuff I checked out today….

5af8085f525003e47380a783fed1_740.jpgAs I said earlier this morning I was a bit out of it today. I wish I were able to take the day off, so I can just bury myself under the covers.

I actually tried to find something to rant about but I is tired!

So I went browsing through a bunch of lefty sites, to see if I can find something interesting. Truth is other than multiple sites clowning G Dub, and Cheney, one dude on You Tube from Air America unveiling his journalistic skills by explaining why Michael Savage is gay.

Other sites claiming that they have 411 that the “Republicans” are poised to go into Iran.

One site up in arms about coal production, they had this really sad PowerPoint show with menacing gloom and doom music preaching that the world is coming to an end as we know it.

On the same site they were praising Al Gore’s attack America speech, man these dudes had a serious hard on for the fat man.

Anywho, here are a few relatively interesting reads. If you are up late in the next few nights and can’t sleep or snowed in as we will be in the next 24 hours these should help with the insomnia.

More illegal stuff and Global Warming hypocrisy

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

A couple of items from the blog Outside the Beltway

North Carolinians are up in arms over a statewide community college policy that allows illegal immigrants to attend community colleges at out-of-state tuition rates:

A recent legal memo from the North Carolina Community College System office broadening the definition of “open door” admissions sparked a firestorm across the state. Citing a 1997 state attorney general opinion that “denies colleges the authority to ‘impose nonacademic requirements on admissions,’” David J. Sullivan, assistant to the president for legal affairs for the system, wrote to the leaders of the 58 community colleges that, “notwithstanding any policy of the local board, colleges should immediately begin admitting undocumented individuals” as out-of-state residents.

Global Warming Conferences Add to Global Warming

Headline of the Day honors go to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer for “More than 10,000 jet into Bali for global warming conference,” their take on an AP story by Robin McDowell. My expectations were that it was an amusing accident but it reflects the author’s intent nicely.

al-gore-plane.gif

Never before have so many people converged to try to save the planet from global warming, with more than 10,000 jetting into this Indonesian resort island, from government ministers to Nobel laureates to drought-stricken farmers. But critics say they are contributing to the very problem they aim to solve. “Nobody denies this is an important event, but huge numbers of people are going, and their emissions are probably going to be greater than a small African country,” said Chris Goodall, author of the book “How to Live a Low-Carbon Life.”

‘Gay question’ general linked to Clinton

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

UPDATE: MALKIN HAS MORE LINKS BELOW

gaysmilitary.jpgThe retired general who asked about gays and lesbians serving in the military at the CNN/YouTube Republican debate on Wednesday is a co-chairman of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s National Military Veterans group.Retired Brig. Gen. Keith H. Kerr was named a co-chair of the group this month, according to a campaign press release.

He was also active in John F. Kerry’s 2004 campaign for president.

Kerr asked candidates “why you think that American men and women in uniform are not professional enough to serve with gays and lesbians.”

Ok first I did not watch the debate; I have said often that I NEVER watch debates because they are pointless.
You can put me on stage and I can play the role of any presidential candidate and answer a question exactly as they would, well maybe not Hillary because she is such a fucken liar politician she always talks out of her ass.

Now as for this “Clinton Plant” I am finally beginning to see the “inevitability” wall starting to crumble with Mrs. Bill and I don’t blame her so much as I do the people who supposedly support her. She is the ultimate control freak but she can’t keep a tight reign on her idiot supporters who do this stupid shit.
The people in her campaign apparently are not as smart as we all once believed. Her campaign is a public relations disaster and if I were running her campaign I would put my foot up some folks asses.

This question was so unnecessary, the military policy on gays like it or not is working.
I’m trying to understand just what point he was trying to make. Now in the next debate Hillary must now address another issue that was not on her radar and do PR damage control because the focus will again be on the “plant” and not the substance of the question.

What is fascinating to me was a few people trolling the net was able to uncover all these plants within an hour or two, but the Clinton News Network with its world wide resources, liberal fact geeks, editors, reporters either didn’t find that out or didn’t think it was relevant. I mean does CNN think that the average citizen is a retarded dolt? They must think that way.

democrats5.jpgNow that CNN’s credibility has been pissed on again and we now have this new slate of Democratic flunkies and activists asking questions of Republicans, the new Democrat tactic now seems to be “who gives a shit, they were valid questions, so it really doesn’t matter who asked them.” This is what one dude said on a talk show this morning as I was driving to work. Then what is this “undecided voter” bullshit, why hide your identity?

Let’s use some fucken common sense here if we are not suppose to give a shit about who asked the questions then why didn’t the homo general ask about the economy, lead in toys, or global warming, or the mom with her kids ask about gays in the military?
Because it was convenient for the Democrats to have this decorated fraud ask the question, who is saying something is just as important, if not more important than what is actually being said.

Notice all of the deception deceit, fraud, flip flopping on the Democrat side, reason number 4,210,763 I thank God I’m not a Democrat.

More Debate piling on, LOL!

‘How do we beat the bitch?’ - Excellent Question, Says McCain (Video)

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Ok I’m not going to comment on this post, feel free to add your two cents. LOL!
I found this post on the blog Tennessee Guerilla Women.
Man no matter how much I scan the blog world crap I can read it all apparently!

“And a vote for John McCain is clearly a vote for misogyny.”

After a McCain supporter asked, “How do we beat the bitch?” John McCain and the room full of manly men and other assorted asses erupted in laughter. When the laughter finally subsided, McCain said it was an “excellent question.” Nothing like a woman in the race for the nation’s top job to bring the culture’s misogyny out into ugly in-your-face full view. Hahahaha. That’s so funny. Yeah, funny if you are a low-life cretin. And thanks to the questioner for demonstrating that patriarchy is in our heads, all our heads (even feminist heads). Shame on John McCain for putting his stamp of approval on the misogyny.

“How do we beat the bitch?” — “Somebody in the audience shouted out, ‘I thought she was talking about my ex-wife.’ There was more laughter all around, and then McCain said: ‘That’s an excellent question.’”

Eventually, McCain said he ‘respects’
Senator Clinton. Yeah John McCain, the domestic violence shelters are full of women who have been respected like that. Update: Ann Althouse observes that only last month McCain reacted quite differently when the offense involved race. Yeah, but there are men in every race.

Blog World Conference, Snoopservations

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

blogworld2.jpg

What’s up folks, I’m finally back from Vegas and the Blog World Conference. STILL slightly hung over, but it’s all good, explanation below.
First off I want to give major props to Rick Calvert and what dude was able to put together in a little over a year.
The conference ran like clockwork, the sessions were interesting (although was disappointed at the attendance) mainly because some of the sessions were pretty lively.

John Donavan from Argghhh! describes one of the sessions that frankly would have made great TV!

“Right vs Left: Who’s Winning the Battle of the Blogosphere?”I’m looking over Markos Moulitsa’s shoulder as he is either live-blogging things, or, more likely, answering email. He’s also reading, reading, reading…Hugh Hewitt just asked Markos about what the Progressive side of the ’sphere was doing to grow their own bloggers… and Markos said, “We’ve got something working - but I’m not going to tell you what it is… ” which is a fair enough answer.Update: Interesting, Hugh just asked the panel if they thought that bloggers would find themselves in appointed political positions after the next election? Most of the panel doesn’t think so. Hugh brought up the possiblity that one reason why there won’t be many is that many young bloggers have written with such passion, and sometimes lack of judgement, that they’ll be anathema for appointed positions - and several panelists brought up that it might not be what they wrote, but what others wrote… both in terms honest comments/writings, and “black ops” commenting designed to get the blogger in hot water.

Update: Politics finally showed up with Markos joining in from the floor. The subject that triggered it- Iraq. We’re no longer on the topic of the impact and effect of the left and right blogs, but… simply politics.

The Progressives posited that the only definition of success in Iraq is - troops home. No other definition is possible.

I asked the question of Afghanistan, how did that fit into that frame - and I clearly wasn’t clear - no one answered my question on the substance, and took it instead as an accusation of isolationism on the part of Democrats.

I just wanted them to state a position in re the war on terror, vice the Iraq campaign in the war. But the political filters were to strong for me to get through. Heh.

Jeralyn Merrit did state that if someone attacks us, we should fight back. But she doesn’t believe in preventative war, regime change, much less societal change. As she see’s it - there’s more than enough societal change she wants to effect in the US that we don’t need to be spending that effort elsewhere.

Joe Sudbay said something interesting - the Progressive bloggers see themselves, just as we on the Conservative side do - a conduit *around* the MSM and a way to get stories out that the MSM won’t carry. And they have the same problem interacting with their side of political power structure as we do.

Interesting indeed.

Brad Friedman from “The Brad Blog” posted an entry on Mark Cuban’s keynote: ‘Bill O’Reilly is My New Best Friend’

A blog entitled Pam’s House Blend has the audio of another session that was interesting entitled:

”The Power of the Political Blogosphere.” Professor David Perlmutter moderated, and did a good job of wrangling the sparks between folks on the dais: Hugh Hewitt, Dave Nalle, Taylor Marsh, and Brad Friedman (The Brad Blog) and Dean Barnett of The Weekly Standard.

Somehow I missed this blog on my daily excursions into the blog world. Very highly regarded blog, amongst many of the participants I talked to. I got a chance to read a bit and will add to my required reading list on the left side of the blogsphere.

On Hugh Hewitt’s blog, Duane R. Patterson  gives his two cents on the event;

blogworld1.jpgFor a first year trade show, this event was remarkable in a number of ways.  You’d think people like Glenn Reynolds and Captain Ed would have met face to face before this.  They did for the first time coming and going on Hugh’s show Thursday.  E-mails and phone calls do a lot in today’s world, but there still is something about human face to face interaction, and there was a lot of that going around.  There were all sorts of long distance acquaintances that turned into friendships here.  If you blog and weren’t here this time, you missed out.  Don’t do it again.  We will all reconvene September next, and with the overall success of this Blog World Expo, the bar is going to be set pretty high for next year.

He also has a brief video clip of the musical act who performed at the Pajamas Media sponsored blogger party.
This was the ONLY poor decision of the entire conference. These people sucked.
This act just sucked the fucken life out of the room and I headed to the door. Someone could have just threw on an I-pod with some 70’s tunes and it would have been all good.

I then proceeded to make my way to the little outdoor venue adjacent to Harrah’s to knock down more Long Island Ice Teas, which unfortunately lead to an unfortunate accident in the hotel sink (I could not make it to the toilet, LOL!).
Hey every time I go to Vegas, and hang out at the live venues where they are playing some hard rock with all these young kids and and here I am, one of the few black dudes in the area (not with a posse gold tooth do-rag wannabee thugs) I’m just sitting there minding my own business chillin’ by myself, enjoying the music (Mrs. Snoop avoids these) folks come up to me say hello, engage in a nice conversation and offer me drinks.
A brotha is not going to turn down a FREE Long Island, I’m sorry, LOL!

Anywho, the conference was all good, good chance to meet some other bloggers, particularly those of the left I was not too familiar with. Apparently they are going to do it again in September 08.
If you are able to attend I would definitely recommend it.
