Obama’s Answer on the Johnson Conundrum
This piece is from ABC News Senior National Correspondent Jake Tapper found via Red State
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller today asked Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, how he could “rail against Countrywide Financial Corp as an example of insiders and today’s economy while your VP search is headed by someone who got questionable loans from Countrywide?” (This is an issue we wrote about earlier today.)
“And in addition,” Miller continued, “another person on that same VP search team – Eric Holder — has also been involved in the Marc Rich scandal.”
“Well, look,” Obama said, “the, the, I mean - first of all I am not vetting my VP search committee for their mortgages, so you’re gong to have to direct — “
“But shouldn’t you?” asked Miller.
“Well, no,” Obama said. “It becomes sort of a, um, I mean, this is a game that can be played - everybody, you know, who is tangentially related to our campaign, I think, is going to have a whole host of relationships — I would have to hire the vetter to vet the vetters. I mean, at some point, you know, we just asked people to do their assignments.
“Jim Johnson has a very discrete task,” Obama continued, “as does Eric Holder, and that is simply to gather up information about potential vice presidential candidates. They are performing that job well, it’s a volunteer, unpaid position. And they are giving me information and I will then exercise judgment in terms of who I want to select as a vice presidential candidate.
“So this – you know, these aren’t folks who are working for me,” Obama said. “They’re not people you know who I have assigned to a job in a future administration and, you know, ultimately my assumption is that, you know, this is a discreet task that they’re going to performing for me over the next two months.”
You can watch some of this press conference HERE.
Did I read that correctly? Did Obama claim that Johnson and Holder — two of the three people heading up his VP search committee — aren’t “work”ing for him?
I suppose that’s because they’re unpaid, but my stars, that’s a lot of high-level, time-consuming sensitive effort to not be considered “working” for Sen. Obama.
Y’all have to check out the video. I know this is slightly unfair but the more this man speaks without the aid on notes or a teleprompter (yes, I’m beating a slightly dead horse) dude simply comes across a dolt. It would be painful to watch if I were not already vastly under whelmed by his perceived intellect.
I’ll freely admit that I butcher the kings English often here on my little vent site. My mind processes at a far greater clip that I am able to translate to typed words and being a shitty typist does not help. However when you read descriptions about Obama even the back handed comment made by Joe Biden last year about dude being the first “clean and articulate” Negro presidential candidate I still trying to understand why people think this dude is so fucken smart.
Dude is a deceitful shit and when he does not have a clear answer his speech is laced with tons and tons of ums and stuttering.
Again I thought dude was considered to be the smartest Negro on the planet!? WTF!?

Nah, he won’t take that honor away from you Snoop!

Man If I were a smart Negro I’d be on a beach somewhere with Mrs. Snoop instead of sitting here at work blogging, listening to Rush and watching Judge Judy. My idea of multitasking LOL!

Sheesh, Snoop, what kind of work do you do? You are sitting at work blogging, listening to Rush and watching Judge Judy? Hopefully, on the side, you’re doing a little work.
The Republicans are really digging deep to find some fault to scream about, aren’t they? I mean, come on, vetting the vetters? Next we’ll be vetting the vetters who are vetting the vetters.
Next in line to be vetted: the kid who washes the Obamas’ car. Did you know he might have had sex with a girl to whom he was not married? Mind you, I’m not saying he did, but he could have. He might have. Better get on that, Snoop. ;)

Len:
Well without going into a shit load of details I work at a University and in the summer there just is not a lot going on. So I do a lot of reading. I read hundreds of political blog post and articles each day and believe it or not is a small way it is connected with what I do.
The daytime court shows provide lots of hours of entertainment and Rush and Neal Bortz fills my talk radio fix.
As for Republicans digging deep to find stuff on Obama, frankly you don’t have to dig very deep, besides I read lots of pro-Hillary sites and they are circulating much of the same stuff.
True conservatives and Republicans who don’t drink the GOP kool-aid are not supporting McCain if that is what you are getting at. I hate McCain and hope Obama is elected.
I’m all for giving the keys to the country to the Democrats because as I have said many times and Obama presidency will be a catastrophic disaster and a permanent boil in the ass of the Democratic Party. Having said that I believe in the strength of this nation and that no administration no matter how corrupt and inept can destroy it completely.
I post much of my anti-Obama stuff because dude is a moron, seriously and I look forward to blogging about his many fuck-ups. GO OBAMA!

I feel compelled to point to a few things in response to the logic that says b/c someone cannot speak smoothly without a teleprompter or notes means he/she is not smart. First of all, there are different types of intelligence. Not every IQ smart person has common sense, and some really street smart people can’t keep a check book balanced. So who is smarter then whom depends upon the definitions and usage of the term. Secondly, while I may not agree with many/any of the OB platform planks, I can tell you from personal experience that getting to be the editor of ANY law school’s law review means the person in question IS smart as a whip, in that area at least. My boss (who was also editor of HIS law school) says “ummm” a lot too while speaking. I think he’s choosing his words very carefully b/c all too often he knows he’s being recorded or will be quoted. So he speaks slowly and not that smoothly. BUT what he says is usually OK, if you take out all the ummms. It’s better then other verbal ticks I’ve heard (like saying “like” after every 3rd word, or saying “um-kay” every other sentence…). I don’t think someone who doesn’t see things my way is stupid. I just think they are looking at things from a different perspective then mine - just like they aren’t seeing things from the same perspective I do. But I try not to assume I know more then anyone. Even if I do.

lol.
i noticed he wasn’t a masterful speaker during the debates. i really don’t think he’s that great during his speeches either. also i think it’s funny how he changes the way he speaks infront of a mostly black crowd.

Go Obama? Sheesh Snoop! I suppose, to each his own. I do happen to agree that his Presidency wouldn’t destroy the USA. Hell, who knows, with some of the things he is promising, we might just see patriotic folks with pitchforks and buckets of tar in DC. What jolly fun THAT would be.

First Anthony don’t be so disheartened I have just resigned myself that neither candidate is worth a shit so I have decided to go with best case scenario.
I keep repeating this because obviously people are not paying attention.
For you people who are going to vote for McCain, just what the fuck do you think he is going to be able to accomplish as president. It is likely that the Democrats will have a veto cushion in both the House and Senate. So if your worry is the courts then hell McCain would not be able to Jesus Christ himself because the Democrats will be so pissed after losing the election they will be telling him who should be on the various benches around the country.
McCain is already campaigning pimping for disgruntled Hillary fans a bunch of leftists. Bottom line his presidency will simply be a dog and pony show will little or no substance with the Democrats grabbing him by the balls all 4 years.
Obama is certain to be a disaster as president if he is anything like I think and most of us think he is he will be a miserable failure. After all of his tax and spend crap and his socialist bullshit the country is likely to be so pissed that Al Sharpton will be reappointed to top political Negro.
On the speaking thing to me it is very simple. If you don’t know the answer or correct response to a question then fucken say so. Dude is either incredible deceitful, stupid, or ill prepared pick one.
When he speaks about shit that he knows nothing about he sounds like he has been drinking. The gaffe clip below where he talks about 57 states and 10,000 dead in Kansas makes me question his sharpness.
Look Bush has been attacked for his “intelligence” more than any other president, not that I am a Bush fan but now Democrats are gonna have to sit back and endure all of us bloggers who will pounce on his every word and give back all of the cracks about G Dub as their Negro hero is exposed as the puppet and fraud he is.
I just find it funny that the same liberals who bitched and moaned about “damm I just want a president who can speak clearly” are already making excuses for Obama’s verbal diarrhea. Payback is a bitch huh.
