The "team" graduating was about 50 strong, with several prior service Non-commissioned Officers graduating. As I sat there watching another generation of young Air Force Defenders take the SECURITY FORCES OATH, and receive their badges and berets, I didn't see any "illiterates" in the crowd. Those 50 brand new DEFENDERS OF THE FORCE are some of the brightest and best this country has to offer and I thank GOD everyday for the young men and women who continue to voluntarily swear to defend this great nation. king is a fucking idiot and I hope his moronic comments cause him to fade into oblivion. assholes like him need to visit one of the many military training centers spread across the country before opening their fucking pie-holes. And by the way king, it takes REAL COURAGE to join the US Military anytime, but during a time of war it takes brass balls. Something pathetic assclowns like you wouldn't understand. I like kicking an asshole when he's down, and Stephen King qualifies. Never bought one of his books, and never will now. He has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. The highly-advanced equipment used by the U.S. military these days is simply not made for illiterates. Tasks military members are assigned to do are very complex and the "mission order", where the leader gives the mission and his intent and then leaves it to his subordinates to figure out the best way to do it requires a helluva lot of mental agility, which most illiterates in the U.S. wouldn't possess. And then there's small matter of the ASVAB, which is kinda hard to pass if you can't read. And, if you want to talk about doing stupid things, most members of the U.S. military would probably know that it's smarter to walk facing traffic than with one's back to it.
