There are a lot of studies and theories that attempt to explain why people lie. Lots of motivations involved - most of them having to do with getting the person in question something they want. I personally think the most common form of dishonest is self-dellusion. From my personal experience, it seems like a lot of people do not see themselves correctly. So it's no huge surprise when someone like Hillary fails to comprehend reality. Reality seems to be something most people studiously avoid at all costs! Most people lie.
