Mike Huckabee Shill Dick Morris May be on Payroll

huckmorris.jpgThis via Outside the Beltway.  Ole Tricky Dick has been recently going out of his way to praise Huckabee on all of the news shows.

His other trick is to make sure he has a quick diss of Fred Thompson almost completely dismissing him in any discussion of Republican front runners in every interview.

I have heard Tricky Dick say numerous times in interviews recently that Thompson is “no longer a factor” oh really?

These “professional pundits” are such jackasses and every bit as scummy as most of these candidates.

When Tricky Dick provided independent analysis on the campaign I did not mind his analysis, but pimping for Huckabee while denying he is on the payroll erases any credibility he may have had.
Who am I kidding, dude worked for the Clinton’s, only the bottom of the barrel political campaign operative scum happily receive dead presidents from these people only to diss them now because his services were no longer required.

The suddenly surging Mike Huckabee has been getting help on the sly from the politically ambidextrous Dick Morris, Jonathan Martin reports in The Politico.Morris, who became famous for his work with another former Arkansas governor, Bill Clinton, has worked with Huckabee before. Aside from whatever taint Morris’ association brings, however, there’s a much bigger problem:

Morris lately has been lavishing praise in newspaper columns and television appearances on Huckabee, whose polished debate performances and recent gains in the polls in Iowa have given him a chance to penetrate the top tier among the GOP candidates.“Mike Huckabee is on a roll,” Morris began one of his columns in The Hill newspaper last month. He also offers regular political analysis for Fox News and the New York Post.

Morris’ public touts of Huckabee sometimes come with disclosures of his past working relationship with the candidate, but they do not mention that the two men still talk regularly — an omission that could raise eyebrows among journalistic ethicists.

Presumably, that depends what “talk regularly” means. Columnists talk with sources all the times without feeling the need to disclose personal relationships. Indeed, as Kevin Drum has noted many times, “disclosure” often comes across as name dropping. If, however, Morris is on Huckabee’s payroll — or there’s an expectation that he will be if Huckabee does well in Iowa — then there’s a serious issue, indeed.

Your comments are dead on. I was beginning to like Morris, what with his years of Clinton bashing. But it’s become pretty clear his professional analysis changes according to what’s in it for him at the time.

As an analyst he’s good, sometimes very good. (His book on HRC, Rewriting History, is worth the $14 or $15.) But he’s no loyalist. He’s a weatherman, not a navigator

The problem is telling when his analysis is based on what he knows or what he’s trying to achieve.
