The Nobel Prize-winning scientist who sparked a furor by suggesting blacks are less intelligent announced today that he will be retiring from the Long Island lab where he worked for more than 40 years.”Closer now to 80 than 79, the passing on of my remaining vestiges of leadership is more than overdue,” James D. Watson said in announcing his retirement from the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.”The circumstances in which this transfer is occurring, however, are not those which I could ever have anticipated or desired,” he said.

Watson shared the Nobel Prize for medicine in 1962 with Francis Crick and Maurice Wilkins for discovering the double-helix structure of DNA.

Watson became the center of a firestorm when, in London to promote a book, he gave an interview suggesting Africans are less intelligent.

He told the Sunday Times of London magazine that he was “inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa” because “all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours - whereas all the testing says not really.”

Watson added that while he hopes everyone is equal, “people who have to deal with black employees find this is not true.”

The prestigious lab’s board of directors suspended Watson last week after his comments were made public.

Watson apologized publicly for his remarks.

To all those who have drawn the inference from my words that Africa, as a continent, is somehow genetically inferior, I can only apologize unreservedly,” he said. “That is not what I meant.

“More importantly from my point of view, there is no scientific basis for such a belief.”

The lab’s board said it respected Watson’s decision to retire.

If he thought that black folks were inherently inferior and he is this long standing award wining scientist then he must have had some scientific basis for him acknowledging such nonsense.

Why it is such a shock when old white people even in this era of political correctness blurt out their true feelings about this evolving environment of racial inclusion and this melting pot which is a far cry from the racially segregated utopia they grew up in.

The majority of old white people still think black folks are beneath them and wish we would pack up our spears and shields and head back across the pond to the “mother land.”
Hell there was this old white dude on Oprah not too long ago during a Jena 6 debate,  saying basically that there should be two America’s one white one black. Yes I know this is retarded, but hey who am I to explain the “superior” white mind.

People should not be brow beat into apologizing for airing their true feelings.
You are entitled to your opinion, even racially insensitive ones!

But white folks don’t need to risk their careers and be subject to ridicule and scorn because we black folks have “Niggadar” kinda like a radar, or Gaydar.
Many times upon our initial greeting with your average white person, we know what is being processed in that superior white brain, from the deer in the headlights look, the reluctance of the pending handshake or the girlie handshake to the stepford wives smile.
So your disdain can be registered without having to blurt out any racist diatribe therefore avoiding any needless apologies.
