Senator Switchback

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

Have I mentioned how much I hate Senator Switchback?

UPDATE From El Borak, I had not heard this excuse but it fits.

There is an explanation after all

Leon Wolf, E-Campaign Coordinator for the Save the Brownback Weasel Campaign, explains why Senator Switchback voted for it before he voted against it:

…people want to know how it came to be that Senator Brownback was heard to vote “Yes” but came to be recorded as a “No.” In the Senator’s words:

I wanted to signal that I am supportive of comprehensive immigration reform, but that now is not the time and this is not the bill.

The Senator did this intentionally and planned it, which is he made a point of voting first and loudly. It was intended to be a symbolic act which admittedly may not have had its intended effect on some people, but it *was* planned from the beginning.

Um, yeah. How about this: He made a point of voting first because senators vote in alphabetical order and ‘B’ is pretty close to the start of the alphabet. He voted loudly because it was a voice vote, which means that senators are expect to vote, out loud, when their name is called. And he voted No because it became clear, after he had already voted yes, that the measure was going down to defeat and he was not going to take the heat for standing up in a losing cause.

That sounds like a better explanation to me.

No this sounds like a fucken loser coward (sorry I’m not as nice as El Borak)

The people of Kansas need to get rid of this punk ass loser.

It pains me to say but I would rather see a Democrat Senator, (and in Kansas that’s not necessarily a bad thing) than this piece of shit Switchback.

I can’t wait until he is up for reelection.

WAIT I found this on his Switchback for President site:

Brownback Votes Against Senate Immigration Bill

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Sam Brownback today voted against the Senate immigration bill.

“I voted against the Senate immigration bill because I am not convinced it would fix our broken immigration system and it would most likely repeat the mistakes of the 1986 reform,” said Brownback.

The immigration bill failed earlier today on a 46-53 procedural vote that required 60 votes for the bill to advance to a final vote.

I just happened to go to Hot Air first thing on my daily morning blog scan and I find this about Senator Brownback, who will forever be know as, thanks to Hot Air,
Senator Sam Switchback.
Being that I can’t stand this dude, I am so glad they did this. At 7:49a it made my day!

Bryan and I cooked up another Kaus-inspired shamnesty Hot Air ad just for Senator Switchback. Thanks to Allahpundit for clipping the switchback moments that will live in infamy. Enjoy:

A Better Than Fair Day

Saturday, June 30th, 2007
thompson.jpgBy Fred Thompson - Townhall.com

Yesterday was a good day. Talk radio, along with the blogs, helped block an immigration bill that the American people overwhelmingly opposed. Then, a congressman, who is also an ex-radio talk show host, managed to get a “yes” vote on language in a House bill that could permanently stop those who want to resurrect the Fairness Doctrine.

We’ve been hearing threats to use the obsolete Fairness Doctrine to go after talk radio ever since the left-leaning talk radio network, Air America, failed. Ironically, I think Air America might have had a shot if its target audience hadn’t already been served so well by many in the mainstream media. But regardless, giving the government veto power over radio stations’ programming decisions is wrong. I don’t think forcing the one sector of the media where conservatives have a clear voice to provide equal time to liberals is the American way. At the very least, it has a chilling effect on station owners.

I understand how the left feels though. For most of my life, the big broadcast television networks and almost all the major newspapers and magazines presented only one side of a lot of issues. Talk radio is a relatively small part of a bigger media picture, but I imagine it aggravates the new congressional majority to hear their opposition’s arguments without the old filters.

I would remind them, though, that a few Republicans were elected even when the entire mainstream media was painting us as heartless Neanderthals. I would also remind the current congressional leadership that they managed to win the last election despite talk radio.

Americans are smart enough to recognize news that’s biased — even when journalists pretend they’re not. New polls show that more than seven in 10 people recognize that the news comes with an agenda. So maybe we should welcome a new Fairness Doctrine. We could start by requiring that every broadcast television news show be co-anchored by both a liberal and conservative; and all major newspaper staff be evenly divided.

Not much chance of that happening. Nor should it in a free country — but I’ll tell you something that those who want to control the media apparently don’t know. Everyday, more people are listening to streaming radio on the Web and downloading podcasts. Some popular talk shows skip radio altogether and go straight to the Internet. You can even hear talk shows on Web-enabled telephones if you want, and that will get much easier and cheaper quickly.

If the current stars of talk were pushed off the radio dial, they’d get their audiences anyway. The era of controllable media is over, and nothing will ever bring it back.

Don’t Mourn Brown v. Board of Education

Friday, June 29th, 2007

brownvboard2.jpg

A little side note as I found this pic:

Having been the only black kid in a class, I know what this little girl is asking, because a idiot little white boy did ask me!

1) Why is your skin so dark, is it burned?

2) How did your hair get like that?

3) Did you use a vacuum to make it puffy?

*****

By Juan Williams

LET us now praise the Brown decision. Let us now bury the Brown decision.

With yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling ending the use of voluntary schemes to create racial balance among students, it is time to acknowledge that Brown’s time has passed. It is worthy of a send-off with fanfare for setting off the civil rights movement and inspiring social progress for women, gays and the poor. But the decision in Brown v. Board of Education that focused on outlawing segregated schools as unconstitutional is now out of step with American political and social realities.

Desegregation does not speak to dropout rates that hover near 50 percent for black and Hispanic high school students. It does not equip society to address the so-called achievement gap between black and white students that mocks Brown’s promise of equal educational opportunity.

And the fact is, during the last 20 years, with Brown in full force, America’s public schools have been growing more segregated — even as the nation has become more racially diverse. In 2001, the National Center for Education Statistics reported that the average white student attends a school that is 80 percent white, while 70 percent of black students attend schools where nearly two-thirds of students are black and Hispanic.

By the early ’90s, support in the federal courts for the central work of Brown — racial integration of public schools — began to rapidly expire. In a series of cases in Atlanta, Oklahoma City and Kansas City, Mo., frustrated parents, black and white, appealed to federal judges to stop shifting children from school to school like pieces on a game board. The parents wanted better neighborhood schools and a better education for their children, no matter the racial make-up of the school. In their rulings ending court mandates for school integration, the judges, too, spoke of the futility of using schoolchildren to address social ills caused by adults holding fast to patterns of residential segregation by both class and race.

The focus of efforts to improve elementary and secondary schools shifted to magnet schools, to allowing parents the choice to move their children out of failing schools and, most recently, to vouchers and charter schools. The federal No Child Left Behind plan has many critics, but there’s no denying that it is an effective tool for forcing teachers’ unions and school administrators to take responsibility for educating poor and minority students.

It was an idealistic Supreme Court that in 1954 approved of Brown as a race-conscious policy needed to repair the damage of school segregation and protect every child’s 14th-Amendment right to equal treatment under law. In 1971, Chief Justice Warren Burger, writing for a unanimous court still embracing Brown, said local school officials could make racial integration a priority even if it did not improve educational outcomes because it helped “to prepare students to live in a pluralistic society.”

seg3.jpgBut today a high court with a conservative majority concludes that any policy based on race — no matter how well intentioned — is a violation of every child’s 14th-Amendment right to be treated as an individual without regard to race. We’ve come full circle.

In 1990, after months of interviews with Justice Thurgood Marshall, who had been the lead lawyer for the N.A.A.C.P. Legal Defense Fund on the Brown case, I sat in his Supreme Court chambers with a final question. Almost 40 years later, was he satisfied with the outcome of the decision? Outside the courthouse, the failing Washington school system was hypersegregated, with more than 90 percent of its students black and Latino. Schools in the surrounding suburbs, meanwhile, were mostly white and producing some of the top students in the nation.

Had Mr. Marshall, the lawyer, made a mistake by insisting on racial integration instead of improvement in the quality of schools for black children?

His response was that seating black children next to white children in school had never been the point. It had been necessary only because all-white school boards were generously financing schools for white children while leaving black students in overcrowded, decrepit buildings with hand-me-down books and underpaid teachers. He had wanted black children to have the right to attend white schools as a point of leverage over the biased spending patterns of the segregationists who ran schools — both in the 17 states where racially separate schools were required by law and in other states where they were a matter of culture.

If black children had the right to be in schools with white children, Justice Marshall reasoned, then school board officials would have no choice but to equalize spending to protect the interests of their white children.

Racial malice is no longer the primary motive in shaping inferior schools for minority children. Many failing big city schools today are operated by black superintendents and mostly black school boards.

seg5.jpgAnd today the argument that school reform should provide equal opportunity for children, or prepare them to live in a pluralistic society, is spent. The winning argument is that better schools are needed for all children — black, white, brown and every other hue — in order to foster a competitive workforce in a global economy.

Dealing with racism and the bitter fruit of slavery and “separate but equal” legal segregation was at the heart of the court’s brave decision 53 years ago. With Brown officially relegated to the past, the challenge for brave leaders now is to deliver on the promise of a good education for every child.

Does Global Warming Cause Muslims to Rape Europeans?

Friday, June 29th, 2007

mohamad1.jpg

Sweden has been suffering from a rape epidemic. Rapists who were born abroad reportedly outnumber rapists born in Sweden four to one. This isn’t entirely surprising, considering that Sweden is being colonized out of existence by Muslim hordes exploiting liberal immigration policies. European women have taken to dying their blonde hair black and even wearing head scarves to avoid being attacked by Muslim colonizers, who hold them in total contempt.

Rape has a noble history in Islam. Muhammad himself raped his slaves, which is perfectly acceptable behavior according to the religion that we are allowing to replace Christianity. As Scandinavian blogger Fjordman observes:

If you postulate that many of the Muslims in Europe view themselves as a conquering army and that European women are simply war booty, it all makes perfect sense and is in full accordance with Islamic law.

Thousands Line Up to Buy Apple IPhones

Friday, June 29th, 2007

iphone1.jpg

Oh my God I’m “sane!” well relatively speaking…
Maybe it’s the meds or the fact I’m older and wiser, but I have no interest what-so-ever in this freaken I-Phone.

I have yet to purchase an I-pod, a flat screen TV (that will change upon the arrival of football season, I hope Mrs. Snoop does not read this), a Nintendo Wie or an X-box 360 and I have survived!!

I did purchase a new dishwasher yesterday, because the idea of dishpan hands worries me more than getting spam e-mail on my phone.

I heard one radio D.J. describe it as the “The Second Mortgage Phone” the best possible description for this new device.

A bunch of already broke ass people will become poorer because that MUST have the latest hi-tech gadget.

And these people in the photo above live in the LA area, so I know damm well they are broke.
My dear cousin who makes twice the money I do is lives in an apartment almost smaller than my office at work, no joke.
Not to mention that everybody in LA NEEDS to drive a shinny Mercedes or BMW to impress each other.

Oh who gives a crap about your school loan, that $500 a month payment on that new Mustang you can’t afford, or that OTHER cell phone you purchased for your boyfriend, now you will have to buy him this new better cell phone so you can continue to talk about and send fancy text messages about, well, NOTHING!
iphone2.jpg
Congratulations on the purchase of the latest greatest technology, creditors will soon have you on speed dial and you can start rehearsing that oft used phrase “the check is in the mail” or “you can’t evict me without 30 days notice” or “mom, dad I promise I will only be here a month.”

If Yogi Berra were a Muslim

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Yogi Berra wasn’t just the greatest catcher in Baseball, he was also an expert at mangling the English language. You’ve probably come across a Yogi-ism or two in your lifetime:

  • “It ain’t over ’til it’s over”
  • “Never answer an anonymous letter”
  • “You can observe a lot by watching”
  • “The future ain’t what it used to be”

Amazingly they actually sound like astute observations about life.

So I wondered, what would Yogi sound like if he had a Muslim cousin Yogi Terra [with apologies to Yogi Berra].

The Bill Goes Down!!

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

I got the Snoopy from RWN, I though it was fitting, LOL!

snoopy.gif

Senate switchboard has been shut down due to overwhelming calls: Sen. Sessions

Good job people!!!! The people have spoken!!!

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate drove a stake Thursday through President Bush’s plan to legalize millions of unlawful immigrants, likely postponing major action on immigration until after the 2008 elections.

The bill’s supporters fell 14 votes short of the 60 needed to limit debate and clear the way for final passage of the legislation, which critics assailed as offering amnesty to illegal immigrants. The vote was 46 to 53 in favor of limiting the debate.

Senators in both parties said the issue is so volatile that Congress is highly unlikely to revisit it this fall or next year, when the presidential election will increasingly dominate American politics.

Here’s the full roll call on the amnesty bill.

ANOTHER Edwards campaign scam letter…

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

edwards5.jpgYa know I like Ann Coulters writing and enjoy reading her editorials. I however am not so amused when she goes on attacking rants because in my mind it is unnecessary.
BUT, this latest flap with Mrs. Edwards she is so dead on and I’m glad even the media is seeing through the latest fake outrage.

Below is another letter mentioning Coulter and O’Reilly and as Ann said using it to raise money. These people are such scam artists.
This is the difference between a well run campaign machine (Mrs. Bill) and a desperate failing campaign.

On the Democrat side it’s a two horse race and they know it, so let’s get some attention by attacking two high profile right wing pundits, how stupid.
Chris Matthews was likely paid big bucks to stage that call in bullshit, but Ann frankly bitched slapped Mrs. E.

I further illustrates that neither John Edwards nor his supposedly sick wife are very bright when it comes to campaigning.

John should try to scam another university into giving him $50,000 for another bullshit speech. Jackass!

****

All week we’ve seen the personal attacks come flooding in from Ann Coulter, Bill O’Reilly and the rest of the right-wing smear machine.

But the real story this week is not them—it’s you. It’s the explosion of grassroots support from folks all over the country who stood up to help us fight back and put us within $1 million of our goal.

We now have 72 hours to hit our goal of $9 million. Seventy-two hours to fight slurs with substance. Seventy-two hours to keep this campaign on track to win. And it all comes down to you. Please give what you can:

We’re fighting back the right way—by taking John’s message of change straight to voters. Earlier this week, our first TV ad in New Hampshire hit the airwaves with John’s inspiring call to action: it is time to ask Americans to be patriotic about something other than war.
johnedwards1.gif

You should see the way people in New Hampshire are responding to the ad. But don’t take my word for it—check out the ad yourself. We need your help to keep it on the air in New Hampshire and cut through the noise all over the country.

We’ve only got 72 hours to hit our goal and we need your support today.

Our momentum is growing all over the country. Just last night, 5,000 of John’s supporters gathered at nearly 400 house parties in every state. They talked live to John and Elizabeth, discussed the issues in this race, and made plans for taking this grassroots campaign to the next level.

You are the heart and soul of this campaign. You get what we’re about. You know that personal attacks from folks like Ann Coulter are just attempts to distract from the issues that matter. And you’re the reason her strategy can never succeed.

If you, me and everyone else on this email list gives what we can afford today, we can turn all of our small change into big change—the biggest kind of change for America and the world.

Please take a minute to check out our new ad, and give what you can afford today.

Thank you,

“Let’s end this thing”

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

bushmexflag.jpg

More from Michelle Malkin:

You know all those calls you’ve made? All those faxes/letters you’ve sent? They are working. Don’t think you can’t make a difference. Here’s the Washington Post headline: “Immigration Measure Appears Imperiled Again.” More quotes of the day:

The Senate yesterday turned back a series of amendments from both parties aimed at substantially altering controversial immigration legislation, but the bill shed supporters as it became mired in procedural hurdles that left backers concerned about its prospects.

The legislation faces a make-or-break vote this morning when senators will decide whether to cut off debate and move to a final vote tomorrow. If it does not get the 60 votes necessary, Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) has said he will pull the bill, all but dashing hopes for any meaningful legislation this year.

Top legislative aides in both parties predicted today’s vote would be very close but would fall short of keeping the proposal alive.

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), a key opponent, crowed last night that “they tried to railroad this through today, but we derailed the train.” Another opponent, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) said, “I would say to my colleagues: Let’s end this thing.

It’s looking good, thank God. However no matter what happens folks need to keep the noose around the necks of these Amnesty pimp senators, they are a disgrace and they need to be put on permanent notice that they will need to kiss some serious ass to get reelected.

Earmarks in the Amnesty Bill: Trading Votes for Pork

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

porkcap.jpgAs if I was not already pissed of enough already, then I find this from Red State

***

There are all sorts of goodies in Sen. Harry Reid’s clay pigeon amendment, but two pork projects — one in Utah and the other in Alaska — stand out. Why? Three of the senators who would benefit from the earmarks voted in favor of cloture.

Let’s begin in Utah, where Republican Sen. Bob Bennett would get a satellite U.S. attorney office in St. George, Utah. “The primary function of the satellite office shall be to prosecute and deter criminal activities associated with illegal immigrants,” reads the amendment. By the way, it’s not the only government office in St. George. Bennett has a district office there, too.

Then there’s the new Immigration and Customs Enforcement office, which, according to Reid’s amendment, would be located “within the vicinity of the intersection U.S. Highway 191 and U.S. Highway 491 to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants into the interior of the United States.” It doesn’t identify where that intersection is located, so I looked it up. Sure enough, it’s Monticello, Utah.

If those projects in Utah aren’t enough to raise your suspicion, then there’s always Alaska to suit your fancy. Although it’s separated from the continental United States, Alaska’s pork-loving Republican senators, Ted Stevens Lisa Murkowski, still managed to bring home the bacon. According to Reid’s amendment, they’ll get a Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Fairbanks, a city that’s located in the middle of the state.

You, too, can have fun finding these projects. A searchable version of the clay pigeon amendment is now available on the Heritage Foundation website thanks to the hard work of N.Z. Bear.

Hardball: Ann Coulter vs. Elizabeth Edwards - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Di1dsTq_g8

****

UPDATE: Fundraising scammer Elizabeth Edwards sends sob story letter to idiot supporters.

Last night I had an important talk with Ann Coulter and I want to tell you what happened.

On Monday, Ann announced that instead of using more homophobic slurs to attack John, she will just wish that John had been “killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”

Where I am from, when someone does something that displeases you, you politely ask them to stop. So when I heard Ann was going to be on “Hardball” last night, I decided to call in and ask her to engage on the issues and stop the personal attacks. I told her these kinds of personal attacks lower our political dialogue at precisely the time when we need to raise it, and set a bad example for our children.

How did she respond? Sadly, perhaps predictably, with more personal attacks.

John’s campaign is about the issues—but pundits like Ann Coulter are trying to shout him down. If they will not stop, it is up to us cut through the noise. Help us fight back—please give what you can today.

There are just over 3 days left to hit our $9 million goal for the end of the quarter. If we make it, we can directly reach voters in Iowa, New Hampshire, and all over the country with our detailed plans on the issues that matter. Please give what you can right now to help raise the dialogue and show that Ann Coulter-style politics will never carry the day.

Why do Ann Coulter and other right-wing pundits keep attacking John? Because John’s bold, specific plans hit them where it hurts: solving global warming, ending the war, building a fair economy—John’s agenda threatens everything these talking heads and their corporate cronies stand for.

And they know John can win—just last week a new poll showed that John is the only Democratic candidate who beats all the possible Republican challengers—by an average of 13 points. So they are trying to take John down early. Their strategy is to sling mud and manufacture scandals—about houses, haircuts and anything else they can think of—to discredit John and take down our movement for change.
The best way to beat them is also the right way—take our message of substance straight to the voters. And that is exactly what this campaign is all about.

But we need your help to hit our goal. Please give what you can today.

And thank you for all that you do to support this cause.

Sincerely,

- Elizabeth Edwards

Amnesty harms blacks

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

amnesty2.jpgBy Mychal Massie - World Net Daily

May 9, 2007, T. Willard Fair, president and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Miami, in testimony before the Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law of the House Judiciary Committee began his statement by saying, “Black men are much more likely to be unemployed than white men, more likely to be dropouts, in prison, in poverty, or dead. There are many reasons for grim statistics like this, including the continuing effects of slavery and Jim Crow; the shift in economy away from manufacturing; broken schools in our big cities; the glorification of self-destructive behavior by popular culture. But one factor is too often ignored – mass immigration.”

While I vehemently disagree with his first reason – and can point to readily available workable solutions to his next three reasons – it is his last reason, when weighed in balance pursuant to the population group referenced and the state of same, that is most damning. It is the 10-ton pink elephant in the middle of the room that no one is willing to acknowledge.

How many days left until this ass is out of office!?

bush2.jpgEarlier today, in speaking about comprehensive immigration reform, President Bush misspoke. He told a group, “You know, I’ve heard all the rhetoric – you’ve heard it, too – about how this is amnesty. Amnesty means that you’ve got to pay a price for having been here illegally, and this bill does that.” This has been construed as an assertion that comprehensive immigration reform legislation before the Senate offers amnesty to immigrants who came here illegally. That is the exact opposite of the president’s long-held and often-stated position.

Iran bombers attack Our Boys

IRANIAN forces are being choppered over the Iraqi border to bomb Our Boys, intelligence chiefs say.

Military experts claim this worrying move means we are at WAR with Iran in all but name.

Last night an intelligence source told The Sun: “It is an extremely alarming development and raises the stakes considerably. In effect, it means we are in a full on war with Iran — but nobody has officially declared it.

“We have hard proof that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have crossed the border to attack us.

“It is very hard for us to strike back. All we can do is try to defend ourselves. We are badly on the back foot.”

Our Boys picked up the Iranian helicopters on radar crossing into empty desert.

The sightings have been confirmed to The Sun by very senior military sources.

At least two Brit squaddies are thought to have been killed by bombs planted during these incursions into Maysan province — Corporal Ben Leaning, 24, and Trooper Kristen Turton, 27.

A further 44 British deaths have also been linked to the highly advanced bombs, rockets and mortars which originated in Iran.

Coming so swiftly after the kidnap of 15 Royal Navy sailors in the Gulf, our revelation will send strained relations between London and Tehran plummeting further.

Until now, secret units from Iran’s fanatical RGC have restricted themselves to just training and arming Shia rebels in Iraq.

They include the al Quds Brigade — a secretive force tasked to spread Islamic revolution abroad who are the main backers for Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon and are also active in Palestine and northern Iraq.

An MoD spokeswoman said: “There is evidence that explosive devices used against our troops in southern Iraq originated in Iran.

“Any Iranian link to armed militias in Iraq either through weapons supply, training or funding are unacceptable.
