Waging war on JROTC

Monday, November 13th, 2006

 rotc2.jpg

From Michelle Malkin, this is NOT funny, it pisses me off!

Caution: San Francisco values at work. Even the left-wing San Francisco Chronicle says the political leaders of Baghdad by the Bay have gone too far:

SAN FRANCISCO public schools have problems, but a popular military-themed program isn’t one of them.Still, a four-vote majority of the seven-member Board of Education is likely this week to cancel the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps classes. The justifications are predictable: School leaders must stand up to the Pentagon’s half-baked “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy on gay service members, and to the war in Iraq.

This blunderbuss sloganeering fits snugly with an advisory vote last year barring military recruiting at schools. But the reasoning, compelling as it sounds to progressive San Francisco, is inadequate. The high-flown arguments fall apart when drill-and-discipline JROTC basics are examined.

Sorry, adults, but kids love this program as if it’s family. There are 1,600 students enrolled in the classes, which fulfill physical-ed requirements. Punctuality, teamwork and camaraderie are the hallmarks. There, military drill competitions are as popular as football games. There are no weapons, just sticks and flags used in marching.

Some JROTC members go on to serve in the military, but the vast majority don’t, seeing the classes as an enjoyable experience and a chance to learn new things: map-reading, leadership skills and self-discipline that goes with military-style assignments and crisp uniforms.

Myths need to be dispelled. Most students leave JROTC by their senior year, suggesting it’s not much of a recruiting tool. The bills are minimal — $1 million for salaries out of a school budget of $356 million.

Some anti-JROTC school board members want to sub the program with a morale-building alternative. School bands? International affairs clubs? Civics organizations? Maybe some of it would work, but no one has offered an alternative as coherent and well-run as JROTC.

The paper provided this contact info:

The San Francisco Board of Education is scheduled to vote Tuesday on ending the JROTC program. Let the trustees know your views. Their e-mail addresses are:– Norman Yee, president: yeen@sfusd.edu

Pelosi, earmarks, Byrd, Pork

Monday, November 13th, 2006

democratclueless.jpgOk I must be in an unusually giddy mood. I reading all kinds of stupid Democrat shit and I can’t help laughing and smiling.
The next two years will be fun.
I wish I had a team if bloggers working with me, like some blogs have to help me add stuff to this site.
I saw this headline (Nancy Pelosi: Identify Earmarks), it made me laugh, because there are Democrats and liberals out there I bet saying “good for her”, catch those corrupt Republicans,” Totally ignoring the long history of Democrat thievery, pork and “money in freezer” politics.
When I saw this headline, the first thing I think of Robert “KKK” Byrd, the King of pork.
Oversight my ass, who are you Democrats trying to sucker?
The Negro will not be bamboozled!

Speaker-to-be is no stranger to earmarking
Rep. Nancy Pelosi has promised to change the controversial practice, a process she’s celebrated using for her district.
By Noam N. Levey and Richard Simon, Times Staff Writers

WASHINGTON — When the House passed a massive spending bill last November, Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi made sure her constituents knew what they were getting.

“Pelosi Secures $115 Million for San Francisco Transportation, Housing, Science and Arts,” she proclaimed in a news release.

It wasn’t an unusual announcement. Like many of her colleagues in Congress, Pelosi for years has celebrated bringing home the bacon to her district.

But now — as Pelosi prepares to take over the House after an election in which scandal helped drive Republicans from power — she is promising changes to the controversial practice of earmarking.

They call me ‘The Pork King,’ they don’t know how much I enjoy it.” - Sen. Robert Byrd

After he secured $97 million in fiscal 1999, Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W. Va.) became the first person in CAGW’s Congressional Pig Book history (since 1991) to help obtain more than $1 billion in pork for his state. In honor of this fiscal incontinence, we dedicate this page to Senator Byrd.

Projects Named For Senator Byrd
Sen. Byrd has set a new standard for taxpayer-funded narcissism by convincing the West Virginia Legislature to erect a statue of himself in the state Capitol. The statue’s completion violates state law prohibiting statues of government officials until they have been dead for half a century.

Byrd’s statue is currently housed in the Capitol Rotunda, as shown in the picture, and it is said if you stand under the statue the senator’s hand points directly at your pockets.

Sen. Byrd sometimes claims that he is in favor of fiscal restraint. However, the senator currently has more than 30 public works named after him - seriously undermining his pleas for budget responsibility.

gay4.jpgELTON JOHN: ‘I WOULD BAN RELIGION COMPLETELY’ - From Drudge

Sir Elton John wants religion banned completely — because he believes it promotes hatred of gays.

Speaking to the Observer Music Monthly Magazine the singer said religion lacked compassion and turned people into “hateful lemmings”.

The PRESS ASSOCIATION reports: In a candid interview for a dedicated Gay issue of the magazine he shared his views on topics as varied as being a pop icon to Tony Blair’s stance on the war in Iraq.

He said there was a lack of religious leadership, particularly in world politics, and complained that people do not take to the streets to protest any more.

Sir Elton said: “I think religion has always tried to turn hatred towards gay people. Religion promotes the hatred and spite against gays.GAY.jpg

“But there are so many people I know who are gay and love their religion. From my point of view I would ban religion completely. Organized religion doesn’t seem to work. It turns people into really hateful lemmings and it’s not really compassionate.” He added: “The world is near escalating to World War Three and where are the leaders of each religion? Why aren’t they having a conclave? Why aren’t they coming together? I said this after 9/11 and people thought I was nuts. Instead of more violence why isn’t there a meeting of religious leaders? It’s like the peace movement in the Sixties. Musicians got through to people by getting out there and doing peace concerts but we don’t seem to do them any more. If John Lennon were alive today he’d be leading it with a vengeance,” he said.

Sir Elton said people were too busy blogging on the internet to go out onto the streets to stand up for what they believed in.

“They seem to do their protesting online and that’s not good enough. You have to get out there and be seen to be vocal, and you’ve got to do it time and time again. There was a big march in London when Britain decided to join the war against Iraq and Tony Blair is on the record as saying ‘the people who march today will have blood on their hands’. That’s returned to bite him on the ass,” he said.

Sir Elton compared his place in British culture with that of the Queen Mother’s.

He said: “People come to me and I’m a bit like the Queen Mother. I never get those problems. I don’t know what it is with me, people treat me very reverently. Referring to his “wedding” to long-term partner David Furnish, he said: “It was the same when Dave and I had our civil union - I was expecting the odd flour bomb and there wasn’t. Dave and I as a couple seem to be the acceptable face of gayness, and that’s great.”

He pledged to continue to campaign for gay rights saying: “I’m going to fight for them whether I do it silently behind the scenes or so vocally that I get locked up. I can’t just sit back; it’s not in my nature any more. I’m nearly 60-years-old after all. I can’t sit back and blindly ignore it and I won’t.”

**********************************

atheist.jpgI have been peeping more and more blogs dissing God and religion, and I find it frankly amusing that the Anti-religion crowd is promoting their agenda just as any Democrat or Republican.

Hell, why don’t they just start running commercials, a nice 15 second spot will do. “If you believe in God, you are a fucken idiot. ” That would do the trick, maybe, with cleaned up language.

Or, the old egg in the frying pan spot. “This is your brain….this is your brain on God”

Now old Elton has spoken out because he is concerned how “Jesus Freaks” treats gays. Without going into great details, I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. You know when I lost any sympathy for gays? The first time I viewed a gay right parade and saw two old wrinkled bastards tonguing one another wearing underwear and feathers, marching on a sunny San Francisco day all in the name of “gay rights” and “gay pride.”

Since that time, not much has happened to change my overall opinion of gays, particularly gay men. Women that tis another matter, not for the reasons you are thinking; I know some really cool lesbians who are not weirdo’s or hot chicks pretending to like women so that they can get more guys. But not gay men. Frankly, I think that most men are pigs. Other than sperm donations, men are fucken useless.

But back to this God thing.

Last week I went to the funeral of a dear old friend and mentor. It was a particularly painful funeral because this individual was a great woman and person. Her impact on the community will be greatly missed, not because she extended her hand to help other tirelessly but she did it so unselfishly. The only thing she ever wanted in life is for the Lord to bless her and keep her.

During this celebration of life, there was a lot of emotion helped by moving music and a room full of spirituality. A room full of mostly black folks taken by the spirit of the moment. Yes, despite all that black folks have been through they still are still rooted in their love of God and spirituality.

Now folks I’m not ignoring that fact that white folks can be spiritual and have love for God, I’m just looking at this from a black individual’s perspective.

I know my history of slavery, and anybody else you knows the history of slavery knows that the primary reason black folks were able to endure was their deep faith and belief in God. Were these people just too stupid to understand that this mythical God figure was not going to help them? That’s what these atheist bastards want you to fixate upon.

Maybe it’s just me, I’m wondering just what the hell has atheists contributed to this world?

Most of the crap that I read on the web from these people is all directed at convincing the entire world that their beliefs are pointless and that they are lemmings.

I have yet to figure out, what point are you people trying to make. Who are you trying to convince.

Even if you were able to make a dent in your argument just what would you be accomplishing?

I don’t remember the “United Federation of Atheists” coming to the aid of people after a hurricane.

I don’t remember the “Atheist Alliance” raising millions of dollars to feed the hungry.

I don’t remember “Atheist R Us” conducting a food drive for veterans.

I don’t remember “Atheists for Humanity”, building homes for poor folks.

I don’t remember “The Atheist Missionary” coalition going to prisons, ministering to felons trying to help them turn their lives around.

I don’t recall “Atheist for Education” helping to raise money to help inner city school children get into college.

I don’t remember “Atheist for Health” conducting free health care screenings, prostate exams, flu shots, kids wellness exams.

I don’t remember “Atheist Scouts” groups working with youth to teach them values and the lessons of life.

I don’t recall a Atheists for Remembrance, a group that would put flowers on the graves of veterans, those that died for our country, in case you forgot.

I could go on and on and on, but you get the drift. In case you don’t get my point, if they think they have so much going for them, why aren’t they doing more with it?

Does religion get in the way of common sense? In some cases, sure it does. There have been a lot of stupid things done and said in the name of God or some religion.

But to dis people for having a love of religion on a puny narrow point of view is simple retarded.

Go to any website that promotes atheisism or talk to a radical atheist. No where are you likely to hear or see any positive loving redeeming contribution they are making to society.

They spend every syllable and paragraph denouncing those who thank God almighty for their blessings, strength and all good things they have been given. Atheist pity you God loving fools, if you are lucky. A lot of the time, they hate those whose believe in a God.

I pity them more then pity me. But I don’t hate them. Can you imagine a more cold and lonely existence spending every waking hour constantly questioning the sanity and judgement of the people around you. Instead of dissecting the mental acuity of others you, my atheist friends, need to focus upon your own mental deficiencies.

I’m not suggestion that you must believe in God or what that specific target of worship should be, but I find worship a comforting and reassuring thing. Are there bad examples, of course. We are flawed and broken vessels. Some are lost completely, some spend their lives drifting, some don’t even know there is a voyage, some won’t take the voyage because they see storm clouds in their sleep.

But the belief in God and religion has done a lot more good then harm, over-all. Frankly even if I were told for certain that no God existed, I would keep it silent.

There are far more positive examples of religious spirituality doing good in this world than harm.

Oh and Elton, dude, your sexual trial and tribulations are the least of my concern. Frankly I believe a Godless world would do more harm to your cause than good. Most of us are capable of accepting you because of our faith.

Photo shows Iran leader as ‘79 U.S. hostage taker

Monday, November 13th, 2006

The Russian publication Kommersant has published a newly located photograph of a U.S. hostage-taker in Iran circa 1979 bearing a striking resemblance to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The Iranian leader has steadfastly denied he was involved in the takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and the holding of 52 Americans for 444 days despite assertions to the contrary of some of those hostages and former Iranian President Abholhassan Bani-Sadr, who says he was a ringleader and the liaison with Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

A Happy Day!, A Liberal who doesn’t like me!!

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Ok after I read his e-mail responses and the site responses after I started crying from laughter, I was going to post some witty response, but all I have to do is let you read his bullshit.
His comments in bold were priceless, nothing better pegs a liberal than this nonsense.
Oh and he invited a buddy to trash ole Snoop too. Ooooooooooooo, Frank thinks I’m stupid and crazy, Oooooooooooooooooo!
Anybody who know me, would tell your dumb ass that calling me crazy is like saying the sky is blue.
Oh God, what a great way to start off the week, everybody should get a good dose of laughter on a Monday.

El Borak, Trinity, Tmum, one of you people please reply to this moron.

whocares.jpgYou act like I am surprised that you’re black. Why should I be? Why should I care? It does not help your argument.
I had a much different opinion of you prior to your response. One that you would not belive based on who you decided I am. I liked you. I thought you seemed educated, and interested in the truth. I thought I could learn from you, reread my first e-mail if you don’t believe me. Perhaps my friends are right…I should vote for democrats.
Ok. Not sure why you wanted to start a website if you are not interested in sharing your beliefes and conviencing others.

Hey trinity, did you, or anyone, notice that Snoop incorrectly labled me as a liberal? I never stated my opinon. As much as I don’t mind being insulted, you made the same false assumption as snoop. You people are a disgrace to republicans who can think.

My buddy Greg just showed me this.
He’s right…As a republican I must say that I don’t like sites like this one that make Republicans look stupid and crazy.

Mr. Snoop,

Sorry to keep bothering you, but you should rethink how you outline your website. You invite e-mails, something like “feel free to e-mail to bitch” or something like that. I suppose you don’t get to many complaints based on your unhappiness about my non-opinionated initial e-mail. But again, I digress.
I thought it would be fair of me to offer some background information and to finish what I wanted to say with my previous e-mail. Now I have noticed the following is hard for you to believe.

1) I have not been interested in politics.
True that I have been a slacker, and I do not consider myself in any way shape or form, the sort who can currently form a opinion worth sharing.

2) I don’t care that you are black.
I did like bill Cosby, but that’s kind of like saying I like coffee. A lot of people do and if you_suck_and_thats_sad1.jpgI remember correctly it was like the most popular show at the time. My comment on your education was not to imply that you aren’t educated, I think you are, that is self evident by your website and no half-brained person would ever reach the conclusion that you were uneducated. However that does not mean that you are not close-minded. Many brilliant people are close-minded. It’s sad because consequently they become less influential and excused as zealots. No matter what one’s opinions are.

3) Aren’t lilies purple? I don’t know, I don’t like flowers. But it is tasteless for you to challenge my opinion and exposure to black people. I did not state an opinion. And I am not going to say, “But I have black friends” or “I worked side by side with blacks for 8 years.” Such responses are for people who want to act like they understand something, and trivialize a very complicated issue. It’s like saying one speaks Chinese when they can only count to ten. You understand this, I imagine you agree. It’s like you’re trying to get me to be offended by your objections to opinions that I don’t have.

I disdain politics for this last reason. Every time I get interested and ask questions, the people who act like they know something, are rude. I once almost got beat up for asking those WTO protesters questions, here I also stated no opinions. I was shocked by those hypocrites. They forced me to leave and threatened me because they wanted to sleep during their protest at the Federal building, and they called me a right-winged fool. There are a few oxymorons you might appreciate. I left with as little understanding about the WTO as I came with. Perhaps I won’t vote democratic, but I am definitely going to give up this weak attempt of mine to learn more. It’s far to frustrating. Maybe I was too rude at some point in this discourse, I am sorry for making you “restrain” yourself. I won’t bother you anymore, but you should change the part where it says “feel free to e-mail me” it’s far too inviting. You might mention that it’s just a site to laugh at comics and argue pointlessly.

Terrorists announce plans to attack U.S.

Monday, November 13th, 2006

I’m not worried Nancy Pelosi is in charge, she will bitch slap those terror bastards back to Iran? Iraq? Afgan? India? Canada?

muslim10.jpgBy Aaron Klein - 2006 WorldNetDaily.com - Link

JERUSALEM – Four terror groups here, including militants from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party, which the U.S. considers moderate, warned today America is now officially a target for attacks both in the region and abroad.

The terror groups blamed the U.S. for “attacking Muslim land” in Israel, Iraq and Afghanistan, and for providing support to the Israeli Defense Forces, which last week accidentally hit a residential area with artillery fire while trying to stop rockets from being launched from the northern Gaza Strip into nearby Jewish communities.

Several Palestinian terror leaders in Gaza told WND their organizations will soon lead attacks against U.S. interests.

“We call upon all mujahedeen in Palestine and around the world to start hitting Americans without mercy. The Americans are destroying Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan and are bombarding our Muslim land,” read a statement signed by Fatah’s Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the Popular Resistance Committees, the Fatah-affiliated Abu Rish Brigades, and a new group calling itself the Brigades of the Believers.

“The Americans seem not to understand any language but that of blood and violence. We say the Americans have an artificial culture. It is a country that doesn’t respect the blood of innocents. Americans only take into consideration the blood of the Jews,” read the statement obtained by WND.

The statement went on to blast the U.S. for vetoing a draft U.N. resolution yesterday condemning an ongoing Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip. The resolution demanded Israeli troops pull out of the territory.

The IDF stepped up operations in Gaza last month following reports hundreds of tons of weapons, including advanced missiles were smuggled into the territory. Since Israel withdrew from Gaza last summers, Palestinian groups there have been regularly firing rockets into neighboring Jewish communities.

The Israeli army last week used artillery shells to target a site in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip from which Qassam rockets were fired at a nearby, populated Jewish city. The Israeli shells strayed and hit a residential area about a third of a mile from the targeted zone, killing 19 Palestinians. IDF sources said the army was investigating if the wrong coordinates were fed to the artillery unit and whether the error was human or technical.

Israel’s Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni expressed regret for the deaths, saying Israel did not set out to harm innocent civilians.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert apologized for the Palestinian deaths and called for immediate peace talks with Abbas, stating the Palestinian leader “will be surprised at how far I am willing to go.”

Olmert said he is willing to free “many, many Palestinian prisoners.”

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton said yesterday the U.S. was “disturbed” by the Arab-backed draft resolution concerning Israel’s Gaza raid, calling the draft “biased against Israel and politically motivated”.

“This resolution does not display an evenhanded characterization of the recent events in Gaza, nor does it advance the cause of Israeli-Palestinian peace,” Bolton said.

‘Americans will very soon be subjected to our plans’

Meanwhile Palestinian terror groups said their organizations will lead attacks against the U.S.

Abu Ahmed, a senior leader of the Al Aqsa Brigades in Gaza, told WND, “We asked the Palestinian people and the mujahedeen to target Americans. American targets will very soon be subjected to our military plans inside Israel and the territories. We are still deciding whether to only target U.S. interests in Palestine or also abroad.”

Abu Ahmed said some cells of the Al Aqsa Brigades don’t support the call to target Americans, but the majority of the Brigades agree the U.S. should be attacked.

“Most members (of the Brigades) will participate in attacks within Israel and the territories even if some members of our organization don’t like this new development (of targeting Americans),” Abu Ahmed said.

The Al Aqsa Brigades is the declared “military wing” of Abbas’ Fatah party. Abu Ahmed is a member of Fatah, which the U.S. largely considers moderate. The U.S. has provided large sums of aid, weaponry and advanced military training to Fatah militants.

Abu Abir, spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees, an umbrella of major Palestinian terror groups, told WND his group would target Americans anywhere, including abroad.

“We will reach Americans either inside or outside. We will not hesitate to target the U.S.,” Abu Abir said.

The Committees spokesman claimed the U.S. was using Israel to test weapons on Palestinian civilians.

“We have proof of American involvement in Beit Hanoun last week. Every weapon the Americans create, they first give to the Israelis to examine on innocent Palestinian civilians. The U.S. will pay a price for this,” Abu Abir said.

The Committees previously attacked U.S. interests here. In 2003, it bombed an American convoy in Gaza, killing three U.S. contractors.

Abu Abir’s comments followed a statement last week by Hamas also blaming the U.S. for Palestinian deaths. The statement warned of upcoming Hamas attacks against the U.S. and urged Arabs and Muslims to “teach the American enemy merciless lessons they will not forget.”

Democrats, Liberals and Race

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

ignorance.jpgI’m bored and I’m doing more analyzing of the elections, for me that also means banging on the keyboard with more tired race chatter.

I found this article Dean scolds Md. Democrats on ticket diversity:  It made me think about some stuff.

Remember back when Howie “Jackass” Dean Informed America that it “needs to engage in a serious discussion about race way back when? The man who does not have a single darkie on his staff, not one. So he really cares? Right.

But I digress.

Remember how Dean first wanted to be the candidate of guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks”? I remember when that statement came out, John Kerry likened guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks to members of the Ku Klux Klan. Al Sharpton called the Confederate flag “America’s swastika.” Dick Gephardt said “I don’t want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks. I will be the candidate for the guys with American flags in their pickup trucks.” So I guess Dean lost his taste for Confederate flags and the people who fly them?

Now that the Democrats are back in the drivers seat will the Democrats engage in a serious discussion about race? After all Dean has brought it up again.

Now I know, after such a invigorating victory race is the last thing Americans, especially Democrats, need to talk about what happened and what things they’re going to do when they take over next January. Shit they have impeaching and Congressional oversighting to do.

However I know you people are just itching to give your two cents about race issues, RIGHT?

Mrs. Snoop accused me way back when of focusing on race way too much, I always say, why the hell not?

Americans who make their living in the media, discuss race incessantly.

I can be the advice guy for the Republicans, somebody forward this post to some political operative. I can also counsel liberals on issues of race. Snoop will give you the inside scoop.

Anywho, name any issue - the economy, crime, health care, airport security, SAT scores, emergency response times, college admissions, traffic stops, football coaches, Starbucks’ growth plans - and odds are half the news organizations in America have figured out how Negros are getting the short end of the stick. Not that knowing it makes any one in power change anything about it.

Today, Democrats, in pursuit of their socialist agenda, are fighting to keep blacks poor, angry and voting for Democrats (cough, Whoopie Goldberg, cough).

Whoopie would never acknowledge the many examples of how egregiously Democrats act to keep blacks in poverty. They are very very very very numerous.

Remember a few years ago After convincing black Americans that a minimum wage increase was a good thing, the Democrats kept their promise and KILLED a minimum wage bill actually passed by House Republicans a few years ago? Oh shit you Democrats forgot that. But NOW it’s a priority, for now.

Pee this: from a black republican website same issue:

That blockage of the minimum wage bill was the second time in as many years that Democrats stuck a legislative finger in the eye of black Americans. Senate Democrats on April 1, 2004, blocked passage of a bill to renew the 1996 welfare reform law that was pushed by Republicans and vetoed twice by President Clinton before he finally signed it. Since the welfare reform law expired in September 2002, Congress had passed six extensions, and the latest expired on June 30, 2004. Opposed by the Democrats are school choice opportunity scholarships that would help black children get out of failing schools and Social Security reform, even though blacks on average lose $10,000 in the current system because of a shorter life expectancy than whites (72.2 years for blacks vs. 77.5 years for whites).

Can I have my $10,000 now, I could use it, I’ll scrap the reparations talk, deal?

However black folks are still falling for the same bullshit that liberal Democrats give a shit. It’s just beyond disgusting, it’s a fucken joke.

I loved during the campaign how Liberals were particularly keen to talk about race when they’re “analyzing” the actions of non-liberal white men. God forbid they admit they and their party’s politics are one of the main reasons that Blacks can’t make any progress toward full equality!

During this last election cycle Trent Lott was mentioned how he wished Strom Thurmond would have been president. Right away, the liberals all but accused him of hauling out the old “Whites Only” signs. Shit I think Strom was a racist bastard, but hey just like most old white guys he dissed them in public and screwed them private, that jungle fever, sorry. It was, of course, not possible that an old friend was toasting another old friend at what turned out to be his last birthday party. To his opponents, Lott was secretly pining for Jim Crow. Race forced Lott to resign.

Remember back a few years ago when Rush stated that Donovan McNabb was overrated and that the (mostly white) media was desirous to see a black quarterback succeed. He meant just what he said and I agreed 100 percent. (A) quarterback was overrated (many quarterbacks are, even white ones) and the media wanted to see a black quarterback succeed. Both statements were factually correct. But to Rush’s opponents, truth was no defense. (cough, Michael J. Fox, cough) It didn’t matter that others in the media also thought that McNabb was overrated. (cough, Michael J. Fox was a liar, cough) . It did matter to the media that a black quarterback succeed. What Rush really meant, or so we were told, was that all black quarterbacks are overrated. He was not saying as much about race as he was about talent. But because it was Rush Limbaugh, the liberal media jumped to the wrong conclusions and spread the lies like peanut butter on hot bread.

Columnist Joe Klein in a old Time Magazine article quoted Dean as saying

“white people (need) to understand the impact of racism on African-Americans.”

But when Klein asked him what African-Americans needed to understand, Dean retorted that “the African-American community doesn’t need any lectures from me.”

Sure they do. Those selfish Negros!

You would think that the black community’s collective lack of gratitude for all America’s given them would draw intense criticism from white folks everywhere. After all, 350,000 Union soldiers gave their lives to free the slaves. And since the advent of the Great Society, whites have given blacks trillions of dollars in transfer payments in the form of government contracts and racial preferences. So far not a peep of “thanks.” those damm selfish ass negros! Shame on them. Howie put that in your next speech.

However apparently only whites need lecturing. Later Dean told a crowd in Tallahassee that Southerners needed to stop basing their votes on “race, guns, God and gays.” Let the lecturing begin. Sorry white people I’m trying to stick up for ya.

I’m pondering the Harold Ford ad and how the media beat the ad to death. Your would think that white folks especially Southerners would be screaming by now say “enough already.” Likening an entire class to Nazis and the KKK is no way to win friends. Nor is telling them what they “need” to base their votes on, or implying what they are thinking.

I direct you to this retarded post: (How Harold Ford’s Impulsive Love For White Women Cost Him - And Black America - A U.S. Senate Seat)

In this “serious discussion about race,” Democrats have succeeded in alienating not only guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks, but Southerners who believe in God, the Second Amendment, and traditional family values. In other words, almost all of them!

But don’t worry, the Democrats will raise that minimum wage, then Billy Bob can buy Curly Sue that wedding ring from Walmart.

The Democrats they have your back.  Especially you negros!

A discussion with a liberal

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

I was sent an e-mail and this post is a response. If there are any other liberals out there who are bold enough to try and sell me on why I should be more receptive to liberalism please feel free to comment.

liberalism_appeasement_a_cancer.jpg

Dear Mr. Snoop,

With all due respect, I am really wanting to discuss this, not simply throw stones and a bunch of propaganda at one another.

I welcome any discussion on these issues.   However, what I say about liberals is not propaganda.   I may not always be polite, and I have strong opinions to be sure, but I would challenge you to find any post on my site that provides incorrect facts. I do not portray liberals incorrectly - the facts speak for themselves if you can step back and look at them objectively.

I have a question. Please understand that I don ‘t associate my identity with my political beliefs (a mistake that I think you may have made, but I digress).

Whether you agree or not you are associated with your political beliefs.  People who deny that fact are simply not dealing with reality.    Saying you do not associate your identity with your political beliefs is like saying you do not associate your gender with who you are.   Your beliefs about something as fundamental as your position on politics speaks to what and who you are, and how well you can think.  These things are who you are. So like it or not,  part of your identity is indeed reflected by your political beliefs and ideas.

I am concerned about growing racism in the United States with people like you which scares me because you seem informed and interested, whereas until recently I thought such feelings were only held by uneducated people.

I see a conservative contradiction for which no one has offered an explanation. Conservatives argue the following:

1) Affirmative action is detrimental to progress and a strong economy because it forces employers to hire people who may be less qualified, gives extra tuition to minorities, etc.

2) Immigration is bad because it takes jobs away from Americans who demand better working conditions and higher pay.

Well, one cannot hold both of these statements as true and not call one ’s self a racist.

Dude, I don’t know where you got your degree in Logic but you got cheated.  Your two points do NOT and I repeat NOT add up to your conclusion.  First you need to get out your dictionary and read up on what racism is and is not.

Racism is not having positions that end up hurting some  minorities in some way. Racism is thinking that your race (or any race) are better then other races.

Most affirmative action and illegal immigration opponents are not basing their dislike of those policies on any conception of superiority.   They do not want to see minorities (blacks) prevented from getting  jobs or just illegal Mexicans kept out of this country.  They simply want everyone to play by the same rules.

I am all too personally aware that racism is alive and well in this country.    And I am aware that some of the welfare and liberal policies that sought to undue past wrongs were motivated in part by some sense of guilt over society not being more fair to everyone. But in giving any minority a “go free card” when it comes to hiring or immigration is not doing them or anyone else a favor in the long run.  Just as we do not give driver’s licenses to people who cannot drive, neither should we give jobs or citizenship to people who are not able to do the minimum required to deserve such benefits of society.

I am a black man, I don’t happen to agree with affirmative action.   I believe in VERY limited government.     I detest entitlement programs.

I think that illegal immigration WILL destroy this country. It will have a particular affect on the job prospects of blacks. Black unemployment for black men 18-35 is 25%-30%. The reason so many blacks are for affirmative action is because white people already have it;  it’s called “hire people who look like me. ” All things being equal a white person will always hire someone who looks like them. In truth, the same goes for most people. We tend to be more comfortable around someone who looks acts and thinks just like we do. It’s very understandable human behavior.

However forcing businesses to hired unqualified dolts is not the answer. Any idiot white guy who won’t hire me because of my color, I figure that is his loss.   Because I am going to work even harder then a white guy, knowing that I represent not only myself and my family, but my entire race. It’s not fair, but it’s reality and every black person knows it is true. But if someone does not want to give me a chance, then I don’t want to work with him/her anyway. It’s hard enough to prove yourself to those who are willing to give you a chance.  People hired under affirmative action programs cannot ever be good enough to overcome the stigma of getting into their positions with that help.

Those who want or need special treatment are only playing into the victim mentality that is fostered by politicians and people who NEED someone to look down on …errr I mean help…with all the programs they fund and run.    There is a whole political system that would come to a screeching halt if we started holding people more accountable for their actions or if we stopped overlooking errors because we feel sorry for them because they’re a member of a minority race.

Liberal’s use of and love for affirmative action is a band aid approach; it doesn’t fix what is at the heart of the problem.  Blacks simply do not have the power that whites do.   But making whites give up their power to a few chosen minority employees is not going to make them like us any more.   This and a lot of the liberal “let’s help those poor people” programs are  done purely out of white guilt.    They don’t fix racism. They perpetuate it.   I don’t want you hire me because you feel “sorry” for me. I want you to hire me because I’m the best qualified for the job.

Now, the people who have jobs to pass out (i.e. white people)  can hire illegal Mexicans to work for less, further denying blacks from entry level opportunities.  So you tell me, how does illegal immigration help minorities do better in this country? It doesn’t!    There is an article I need to look up written by a black man who is unable to find work after 25 years in the construction trade. He lived in Los Angeles, he had to pack up his family and move to Atlanta, making far less. The other reason he could not find work, because he did not speak Spanish.    His story is very common.    If illegal immigration goes unchecked, the people who used to get the low paying jobs (i.e. black people)  are fucked.   Period.  White people like immigration, because they can get shit done cheap.  It a business choice. I have no problem with someone coming to America, following the correct path and obtaining citizenship and seeking the American dream.  But when a bunch of fence jumping people make their way here and I have to pay for their health care, welfare entitlements, increased crime I have an issue with that.

If one believes strongly in a free market (point 1), then one should understand that the employer has the freedom to choose who he feels is the most efficient worker, even if that means the employer will choose someone who will happily work for less pay.

On the other hand, if one thinks that Americans deserve better treatment and are entitled to jobs despite being less efficient and despite NOT being the best worker according to the employers ‘ discretion, then one cannot use point 1 to argue against affirmative action. After all, for every possible explanation to how lowering immigration would help the American job market for Americans and the benefits it would provide for society could also be used (and more effectively) to argue for Affirmative action.

My point? One who believes both (1) and (2) is basically saying, “I support rules that help white people.”

Dude I’m not white, in case you have not figured that out.  And again I say, with all due respect, your logic is flawed.

I am against most forms of affirmative action and I do not want illegal immigrants to get anything but a bus pass back to where they came from.  These are not incompatible concepts or racist positions.   They are very compatible and have very little to do with race.

I support applying the same rules to everyone equally.    The law needs to be color blind.  If you are qualified for the job, you should get it.  If you come into this country illegally, yiou should face the legal repercussions.   Affirmative action gives minorities “Special” status. Allowing illegal immigrants to get away with violating immigration laws give them “special” status.  Neither of these issues have much to do with anyone’s race. It has to do with fairness.

It is not fair to expect a business owner or school to give precious resources and space to someone who can’t do the job all that well but happens to have been born a minority (or female).  It is not fair to require people to follow the rules in order to get into this country, unless they are resourceful and criminal enough to break the law(s) and sneak in.

One of my main problems with liberals is that despite their belief that they are really great people who care about everyone, they are often the least likely to really know the people they want to help. They talk and plan and pass laws that try to help “those poor people” without really listening to anyone in that group other than charming reverends turned career politicians who got rich playing the victim card.

With decades of civil rights laws behind us, why do you think that racism still exists and progress towards a united states has been so slow? Because once these ills are truly addressed and defeated, all those who make their money pimping out poverty will be out of jobs.

The leaders who make liberal “progressive” theories their battle cry truly do not want to see everyone get a chance or get along.   They just want everyone to think they are good people, as they chuckle all the way to the bank.   If they truly cared about “those poor people” they’d give up all their wealth and live like common folk!  They’d stop talking and start working. They’d listen instead of just talk about the same old (and tired) things.

I don’t blame them for not doing that.  I wouldn’t.  If I had a golden goose, I’d not want it to stop laying those golden eggs!

But I do blame them, and you, for thinking that all Black folks are too stupid or lazy to see through the facade of care that masks itself as pity. Pity and guilt are only signs of the superiority that liberals really feel towards anyone who doesn’t go along with their ideas and programs.   Now, THAT is racist.

How Harold Ford’s Impulsive Love For White Women Cost Him - And Black America - A U.S. Senate Seat

Friday, November 10th, 2006

Hey I and not saying this crazy shit, Read first I’ll rant on this crazy mess on the other side.

From Booker Rising - Link

Yes, I called out the pink elephant in the room. I tell it like it is about how Bob Corker’s campaign was able to turn back the bid of Rep. Harold Ford Jr. to become the first black person elected to the U.S. Senate from the South since Reconstruction. Now before folks start accusing me of haterade, note that I (1) supported Rep. Harold Ford Jr.’s candidacy almost a year before he even officially announced it in Summer 2005. I would have voted for the moderate-liberal Democrat if I lived in Tennessee. Yet someone must call out the political ramifications of Rep. Ford Jr.’s very-ill-fated and impulsive choice in allowing his love for white women to override his common and political sense by attending the Playboy Super Bowl Party, and thus giving the Republican National Committee the political ammunition in the first place to undermine his political goals via that controversial “Call Me” ad.

huhpandalh3.jpgBob Corker, the former mayor or Chattanooga, got 51% of the vote to Rep. Ford Jr.’s 48% of the vote. Mr. Corker led by about 48,495 votes. That is probably much closer than many folks believed Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. could do in Tennessee. Overall, he ran a fantastic campaign. Yet the botttom line is that had Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. been dating or (politically even better) married to a Black Pearl, like Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois has done, instead of chasing after white bimbos (vs. even dating a quality white woman), he would probably be U.S. Senator-Elect Harold Ford Jr. preparing to join Sen. Obama in the legislative chamber and not Harold Ford trying to decide what to do in a post-political career.

Some of my readers disagree that the ad race baited Rep. Harold Ford Jr. I strongly disagree. The controversial and later-pulled ad peaked with the white blonde claiming she met Junior at the Playboy party. Her image appeared again, as the last one to close the ad. All the other issues mentioned in the ad - guns, terrorism, North Korea, porn donors, etc. - were mere supporting characters to the ad’s true intent, which was to code Rep. Harold Ford Jr. as a lover of white women.

I was surprised how most critics only focused on how this ad played to Tennessee white male fears of black male-white female unions. Booker Rising was one of the very, very few observers to note how the controversial ad also played to the anxieties of another group on this issue: black women, who comprise the majority of Tennessee’s black voters. 81% of likely Tennessee voters, of all races, saw the ad, and undecided folks who saw the ad broke 2-1 in favor of Mr. Corker.

Let this be a lesson for other black men who seek higher political office: when you believe that you are too good for black women, don’t be surprised if chasing after white women hurts your career with voters. Particularly in a tight political race. How many black women - who could have perhaps reversed that slim lead of 48,495 votes that Mr. Corker possessed at the end of this political race - did not turn out to vote (or left the ballot for this particular race blank) because they were turned off by what they saw in the ad? First of all, a guy running for statewide office in a state like Tennessee should have had more political sense to go to any event associated with Playboy, and a black man - regardless of his actual dating preferences - should not make it so easy for his opponents to use such a controversial issue as a wedge issue against him by attending said party either.

Now we don’t have another black U.S. Senator, at least in part because of Rep. Ford Jr.’s impulsiveness….which the foul RNC ad later exploited against him. Rep. Ford Jr. must take some responsibility for giving the political ammunition to the GOP in the first place, and allowing the debate to symbolically shift from policy positions to his penchant for white women.

Ok this seems to be a slow day, folks are enjoying the 3 day weekend and the lingering hangover from the elections so there is not much news out there.THEN I find this shit.

You know I love the internet, I continue to be amazed at not only the wealth of information out there but the plethora of utter and colossal ignorance freely available for all to share.
First lets just start with the title, someone please explain to ole Snoop just how the fuck Harold Ford losing in Tennessee affects this Kansas Negro?
book1.jpgI am so sick and tired of being put in this involuntary club, the involuntary club of Negrodum.
Individuals like myself are still being placed in this mythical category because the old assumption is what one Negro does affect all us Negros.

Let me be real clear, for the squeamish stop reading.
Yes this is America and in many parts of this great nation I am still viewed as a Nigger.
I was jacked around as the only black child in an upper middle class neighborhood in Oaktown.
I was prevented from entering the homes of many of my white friends because of the obvious racist attitudes of the residents there.

One of the biggest argument I had with my dad at a family gathering was how “lucky” I was that I never had to deal with the kinds of racism he and his generation had endured.

He was not aware that because Oakland police officers did not believe me when I told them my address, as they obviously thought “I know damm well no niggers live in that neighborhood” The biggest, nicest home, most manicured lawn, nice shiny Caddy in the driveway.
I was handcuffed and put in the back of a police car and driven around for what seemed like an eternity.

He was not aware of the time when my mother a Den leader while I was in the Cub scouts and a long standing reward, traditionally issued to the Den and Den mother who exhibited excellence was for some inexplicable reason was discontinued, after my mom won this award for seven consecutive weeks.
Yes my mother and I were the only blacks active in that particular pack.   I was later told by one of the white kids that the Pack leaders wanted to drive us out, he HATED niggers.

My dad was also not aware when that racist, confederate flag waving bastard who released his dogs at myself and a few of my friends as we sat on a playground on a lazy sunny day for no reason.

Being the only black kid in what was a very racist neighborhood in the 1970’s for me was no different than individuals who were denied service at lunch counters.
The difference was I was not accompanied by hundreds of civil right supporters.

From racist ass behaviors at various times at work, eyes glaring and racist comments at the first time I took a white girl to the movies.
Nobody can tell me jack about the struggles of black folks.
However what I refuse to be is involuntarily place in the Niggas club.

Niggas like Harold Ford, Charles Rangel, Alcee Hastings, Cynthia McKinney don’t fucken speak for me.
Assuming that I obtain some sense of pride from these fools being elected for public office is not only insulting but offensive.

As for dating white women and somehow that is suppose to mean some measure of self hatred is over the top retarded.
Let me tell you people self hatred is something I have never brought into.
Believe it or not I LIKE MYSELF, thanks to my mother A BLACK WOMAN for instilling that in me.

You should be able to marry whoever the fuck you want to marry, if Mr. Ford wants to roll in the hay with white women, that is his choice. If white folks have issue with that then they can go fuck themselves.

I’m married to a white woman, but more than just being white she is smart as hell, talented, kind, giving, loved and respected by all who know her.
After my divorce (ex wife was Puerto Rican), I was looking for some to compliment me.
There were few choices of good decent black women, particularly in Kansas. So when idiot ass arguments like interracial dating and marriage comes up it’s just silly. You choose from the crop of women that is available to you.

The argument in his post is couples with even more stupidity when you also add to the fact that a lot of black women don’t necessarily want to date black men.
Mostly because way too many black men are into the “down low” bullshit, they are chronically unemployed, in jail and far to many REFUSE to take care of their responsibilities as far as child support and being fathers to their children.

Now back to Ford, even if I were a resident of Tennessee I would not have voted for his ass, or any other idiot ass liberal.
I don’t support race baiting, entitlement pimping, anti American, illegal immigrant ass kissing, nigga ass politics as most black Democrats do.

As for the effect of the infamous ad, who gives a shit! You would have to be criminally insane to believe that some redneck was sitting at home and watched that ad and say “golleeeeee, we can’t vote for that nigger, he’s banging one of (our) white women.”
Never mind that the woman who was in the commercial WAS ACTUALLY OF HISPANIC ORIGIN! But we shall ignore that.

You would have to be equally as stupid to believe that some attractive, intelligent, educated black woman saw the same ad and said to herself “oh no he didn’t (be sure to do the stereotypical head back and forth movement and finger waving) hook up with some white girl, when he could be with me, I’m not voting for his high yellow ass!”

I just marvel at the stupidity and the utter lack of common damm sense of some people and just think this insane reading material is FREE for all to consume.
Unfortunately some black folks STILL have not succeeded at escaping that “mental” plantation.
If makes you wonder are the unconscious idiot racist behaviors of white people or the conscious idiot racist and race card carrying behaviors of black people the biggest problem we face today and terms of healing the racial divide.
I will say again, until the Klingons or the Cardasions (Star Trek) decide to drop in on us, racism and race baiting bullshit will NEVER, EVER go away.

Students at Calif. College ban Pledge of Allegiance

Friday, November 10th, 2006

 Reason #4,298,899 I hate liberals!

middle_finger_flame.jpgBy Dan Whitcomb - Link

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Student leaders at a California college have touched off a furor by banning the Pledge of Allegiance at their meetings, saying they see no reason to publicly swear loyalty to God and the U.S. government.

The move by Orange Coast College student trustees, the latest clash over patriotism and religion in American schools, has infuriated some of their classmates — prompting one young woman to loudly recite the pledge in front of the board on Wednesday night in defiance of the rule.

“America is the one thing I’m passionate about and I can’t let them take that away from me,” 18-year-old political science major Christine Zoldos told Reuters.

“The fact that they have enough power to ban one of the most valued traditions in America is just horrible,” Zoldos said, adding she would attend every board meeting to salute the flag.

The move was lead by three recently elected student trustees, who ran for office wearing revolutionary-style berets and said they do not believe in publicly swearing an oath to the American flag and government at their school. One student trustee voted against the measure, which does not apply to other student groups or campus meetings.

The ban follows a 2002 ruling by a federal appeals court in San Francisco that said forcing school children to recite the pledge was unconstitutional because of the phrase “under God.” The U.S. Supreme Court struck down the ruling on procedural grounds but left the door open for another challenge.

“That (’under God’) part is sort of offensive to me,” student trustee Jason Bell, who proposed the ban, told Reuters. “I am an atheist and a socialist, and if you know your history, you know that ‘under God’ was inserted during the McCarthy era and was directly designed to destroy my ideology.”

Bell said the ban largely came about because the trustees didn’t want to publicly vow loyalty to the American government before their meetings. “Loyalty ought to be something the government earns through performance, not through reciting a pledge,” he said.

Martha Parham, a spokeswoman for the Coast Community College District, said her office had no standing on the student board and took no position on the flag salute ban.

“If their personal belief is that they don’t want to say the Pledge of Allegiance, the district certainly isn’t going to dictate what they do,” she said.

More than 28,000 students attend the community college, located in conservative Orange County, California, south of Los Angeles.

Iraq; What Our Enemies Are Saying

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

dnc2.JPGApparently our enemies, the people who wish to kill us, got the Congress they wanted!

For those who believe that our enemy doesn’t take any interest in our elections or that they don’t care what the outcome is, should take heed to the statements coming from the mouths of these fanatical murderers and ask yourself. How long do we wait until we start taking these people at their word?

Here are just a few examples of what was said in the run-up to election day:

Jihad Jaara, a senior member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and the man who led the terrorist group’s 2002 seizure of Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity, expressed this wish:

“Of course Americans should vote Democrat,”

“This is why American Muslims will support the Democrats, because there is an atmosphere in America that encourages those who want to withdraw from Iraq. It is time that the American people support those who want to take them out of this Iraqi mud,”

And

“Bush is a sick person, an alcoholic person that has no control of what is going on around him. He calls to send more troops but will very soon get to the conviction that the violence and terror that his war machine is using in Iraq will never impose policies and political regimes in the Arab world.”

Newt Rips The GOP A New One

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

From Ankle Biting Pundits

I can imagine that Newt Gingrich might be a little upset at watching the Republican majority he helped engineer to power in 1994 come crashing down the other night.  And today in Atlanta he let his anger towards his party be known:

spanking.jpg Speaker Newt Gingrich laid into President Bush and congressional Republicans in an Atlanta appearance Thursday.

Taking questions after a medical forum, the former GOP congressman from Cobb County said four c’s — an absence of competence in Republican performance, an absence of candor, corruption and the bad advice of consultants — led to Tuesday’s defeat.

But Gingrich saved his strongest words for President Bush’s performance at the Wednesday press conference announcing Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld’s resignation. Bush told reporters that he had planned to replace Rumsfeld since before the election, despite praising the unpopular defense secretary a week ago and saying he would remain for the duration of his presidency.

“If the president had decided to replace Secretary Rumsfeld he should have told us two weeks ago,” Gingrich said. “I think that we would today control the Senate and probably have 10 to15 more House seats. And I found it very disturbing yesterday in the press conference, the explanation that the President gave.

“We need candor, we need directness,” said Gingrich, a potential 2008 presidential candidate.”We need to understand the threats we faced with are so frightening and so real, the danger that we’ll lose two to three American cities so great, that we cannot play games with each other, cannot manipulate each other, we have to have an open and honest dialogue, and I found yesterday’s staments at the press conference frankly very disturbing.”

He condemned Bush’s admission that in making last week’s statement about Rumsfeld, he had known he was being misleading.

“It’s inappropriate to cleverly come out the day after an election to do something we were told before the election would not be done,” Gingrich said. “I think the timing was exactly backwards and I hope the President will rethink how he engages the American people and how he communicates with candor.”

He contrasted the euphoria of 1994, when his Contract with America agenda helped ended decades of Democratic rule in the House, with the bitterness of Tuesday night’s Democratic sweep.

“I remember what it felt like the night we were at the Cobb Galleria and for the first time in 40 years we won control of the House and (there was) the Contract with America and people were very exicted about welfare reform and cutting taxes and balancing the budget and all those things, and I have to say 12 years later that I’m very disappointed, but if you look at what I’ve said all year, I’m not surprised.”

As for what Republicans should do now, he said, “I believe the House and Senate Republicans and the White House need to take a deep breath and think very seriously about this election result, because I think we’re at a very important turning point this is either a temporary interruption of what has been a gradually consolidating center-right majority, or this is a breakdown of that center-right majority leading to a significant effort to establish a center-left government majority.”

The democrats are not about to repeat Republican mistakes now (although I still think impeachment is on the table for them), so I dare say the GOP (*coughJOHNMCCAINcough*) would do well to heed Newt’s advice this time around, or face not seeing a majority again for a very, very long time.

Speaker Pelosi’s Impending Intelligence Failure

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

criminalposter.jpgBy J. Peter Pham & Michael I. Krauss - Article Link

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is in line to make history as the first female Speaker—and second in line of succession for the presidency—when the new Congress convenes in January. As with any election, a wide variety of issues factored into the dynamics of this year’s midterms. For us, however, the just-concluded campaign, like every federal election, was fundamentally about national security. The federal government’s principal task is providing for the defense of the nation, without which justice, welfare, and all the other blessings of liberty enjoyed inside the various states are, at best, aspirations.

With majority status in the “people’s house” comes a share in responsibility for the security of the Republic. This is why we are so concerned about a shadow which darkens presumptive Speaker Pelosi’s triumphant morning, a shadow which will only grow longer if she allows it to begin appearing prominently in the media coverage of the global war on terrorism, metastasizing into her first “intelligence failure” even before she takes the gavel from outgoing Speaker Hastert. That is the shadow of Alcee Lamar Hastings, the reelected Democratic Representative from Florida’s 23rd District.

Mr. Hastings was, in the outgoing 109th Congress, the second-ranked Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. But the Washington Post’s Charles Babington first reported more than a year ago, in a story that has never been denied (indeed, it has been confirmed in the congressman’s hometown newspaper, the Miami Herald) that Ms. Pelosi plans to replace the committee’s current ranking Democrat, California Representative Jane Harman, with Mr. Hastings who would be installed as committee chairman when the 110th Congress begins. The move would be a payback to the Congressional Black Caucus, to whose support Pelosi owes her election as Minority Leader and whose members she angered by picking Ms. Harman to be ranking member over Georgia Rep. Sanford Bishop in 2003. The incoming Speaker must also mollify the Black Caucus for having pushed Louisiana Rep. William Jefferson (he of the frozen cash) off the Ways and Means Committee.

We have difficulty accepting that Mr. Hastings has been allowed by Ms. Pelosi to venture anywhere near national security matters, much less onto a field as vital as the Intelligence Committee, which exercises oversight of organizations ranging from Central Intelligence Agency to the U.S. Marine Corps Intelligence Department, including the Defense Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency. That Mr. Hastings is employed by the United States of America, and is not a guest a federal penitentiary, is itself cause for wonder.

Mr. Hastings’s own website says this about his pre-Congressional background: “Known to many as ‘Judge,’ Congressman Hastings has distinguished himself as an attorney, civil rights activist, judge, and now Member of Congress. Appointed by President Carter in 1979, he became the first African-American Federal Judge in the state of Florida, and served in that position for ten years.”

What this autobiography omits are the reasons Hastings’ judicial tenure, normally a life appointment, was cut short after only a decade. Barely two years into office, “Judge” Hastings accepted a $150,000 bribe in exchange for giving a lenient sentence to two swindlers, then lied in subsequent sworn testimony about the incident. The case involved two brothers, Frank and Thomas Romano, who had been convicted in 1980 on 21 counts of racketeering. Together with attorney William Borders Jr., Hastings, who presided over the Romanos’ case, hatched a plot to solicit a bribe from the brothers. In exchange for a $150,000 cash payment to him, Hastings would return some $845,000 of their $1.2 million in seized assets after they served their three-year jail terms.

Dem Congress Is New York’s Gain — and Mississippi’s Loss?

dumbass5.JPG“It’s not just committees — our influence within the House Democratic caucus will grow enormously,” Mr. Rangel said in an interview. To that end, he sketched out an expansive federal agenda: Teaming up with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on gun control, passing new tax incentives for urban job programs, and redirecting federal money to New York in return for the outsize tax collections that the federal government makes here.

“Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?” Mr. Rangel said.

Nice.

Thank you Democrat voters, this is your kind of guy!

The push for impeachment starts

From Sister Toldjah

Another Democrat, former Brooklyn Rep. Liz Holtzman, is pushing for Bush’s impeachment via a new book she’s promoting, which is discussed here.

Prepare. Despite Pelosi’s denials that this will happen, Rep. John Conyers, who is in line to be the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has been itching for years to impeach Bush. So have other Democrats. He - and they - may soon get their chance to try.

The Road Not Taken: Forfeiting a Majority

By Howard Hewitt - Townhall.com

The post-mortems are accumulating, but I think the obvious has to be stated: John McCain and his colleagues in the Gang of 14 cost the GOP its Senate majority while the conduct of a handful of corrupt House members gave that body’s leadership the Democrats.

The first two paragraphs of my book Painting the Map Red –published in March of this year, read:

If you are a conservative Republican, as I am, you have a right to be worried. An overconfident and complacent Republican Party could be facing electoral disaster. Hillary Clinton, Howard Dean, and a host of others could be looming in our future and undoing all the good we’ve tried to do.

It is break the glass and pull the alarm time for the Republican Party. The elections looming in November 2006 are shaping up to be disastrous for the GOP as the elections of 1994 were for the Democrats. Most GOP insiders seem unaware of the party’s political peril. Some are resigned to a major defeat as the price we have to pay for a decade of consistent gains, which, they think, couldn’t have gone on forever.

As cooler heads sort through the returns, they will see not a Democratic wave but a long series of bitter fights most of which were lost by very thin margins, the sort of margin that could have been overcome had there been greater purpose and energy arrayed on the GOP’s side. The country did not fundamentally change from 2004, but the Republicans had to defend very difficult terrain in very adverse circumstances. Step by step over the past two years the GOP painted themselves into a corner from which there was no escape. Congressional leadership time and time again took the easy way out and declared truces with Democrats over issues, which ought not to have been compromised. The easy way led to Tuesday’s result.

The criminal activities of Duke Cunningham, Bob Ney and Mark Foley were anchors around every Republican neck, and the damaged leadership could not figure out that the only way to slip that weight was by staying in town and working around the clock on issue after issue. The long recesses and the unwillingness to confront the issues head on –remember the House’s inexplicable refusal to condemn the New York Times by name in a resolution over the SWIFT program leak?– conveyed a smugness about the majority which was rooted in redistricting’s false assurance of invulnerability. Only on rare occasions would the Republicans set up the sort of debate that sharpened the contrast between the parties. In wartime, the public expects much more from its leaders than they received from the GOP.
