Fade to purple?
From Lawrence Journal World - Topeka — Color Kansas purple. (HELL NO!)
In the battle between Republican red states and Democratic blue states, voters on Tuesday gave historically red Kansas a blue tinge.
Democrats Kathleen Sebelius easily won a second term as governor, Paul Morrison swamped conservative Republican Atty. Gen. Phill Kline, and Nancy Boyda upset a five-term incumbent GOP congressman who had received campaign help from President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
Democrats also made gains in the Kansas House.
At a news conference Wednesday, Sebelius said the winners tackled issues important to voters.
“It’s important not to be red and blue states any longer, but really focus on issues that connect with citizens across this country,” Sebelius said.
Meanwhile, Republicans searched for a silver lining.
Ron Freeman, executive director of the Kansas Republican Party, noted that three lower-profile statewide GOP candidates received more votes than Sebelius.
“I think it is clear that Kansas is still a red state,” Freeman said. “In a year when every external factor favored the Democrats, Republicans still were the top vote-getters.”
COMMENT FROM ARTICLE:
Morrison and Boyda are moderate Republicans who took the Democratic label in order to win office in a year that being Republican had become a liability. Their views are moderate Republican views, and they will, most likely, act like moderate Republicans in office.
Kansas seems to be the poster state for propping so called moderates.
This is a silly concept; this state is no more Democrat than this country is even after the election results.
If a true liberal were to run for office in Kansas they would be out on their butt.
The concept for working together across party lines is frankly bullshit.
There are no compromises as far as I’m concerned on some basic issues.
- Illegal Immigration and Amnesty for Illegal’s, slap down businesses who hire them!
- Any sort of NAFTA bullshit or open boarder policy
- Taking money out of my pocket to pimp or perform abortions.
- National Security
- Locking up and convicting sexual predators and repeat criminals.
- Parental notification before performing abortions
- Teaching standards, if you are a lousy teacher, you should be fired! If you are not qualified to teach, your fired!
- Raising my taxes, repealing any death tax, reforming the tax code
- Limited Government, reduced spending, drastically! No damm bridges to “Nowhere”
- Reduce entitlements, get a job, reduce the size of the gubment tit.
- Support of our Military
- Support the institution of traditional marriage
- Incentives to help make sure that economically challenged Kansas kids can attend Kansas Universities.
- No stupid living wage bullshit, why not just tell businesses to stay away!
- Keeping nutty liberal judges off the courts
So if you sorry ass Democrats who bullshitted your way into office don’t stand for these things the campaign should start today for your removal.
Hopefully the state Republican Party can forward, QUALITY, likeable, articulate candidates.
No rednecks, or hillbillies, no over the top Christian wackos, start including Negros in these campaigns, recruit people that have a history of conservatism and people that has a history of accomplishing something.
Is that too hard to ask?
