Shrapnel-filled rockets used on civilians

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

Wait, wait, I got this.
Those chicken shit fucks from Hezbollah set-up their rocket and missile launches in the dwellings of civilians, while Israel goes out of their way to pinpoint the bombings to minimize civilian casualties but Israel is the one who gets screwed by the lying ass fauxtography jackass press. Strange, or maybe not, that you won’t find this story on any MSM site or any liberal blog.
I’m not surprised, just thought I would vent for the hell of it, to remind people. Carry on!

15.jpgIsrael documents civilian-targeted weapons from Syria, Iran

Steel balls and other lethal fragments were encased in rockets from Syria and Iran that were used by Hezbollah on Israeli civilian areas during the recent war, the Israeli Ministry of Defense confirmed to WND today.

Photographs of the anti-personnel “flying metal” damage done by Syrian-made 220-mm rockets fired by Hezbollah were published today in Israel by Uzi Rubin of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. Rubin served as the head of Israel’s Missile Defense Organization from 1991 to 1999, when he oversaw development of the country’s Arrow anti-missile defense system.

The published report documented the Hezbollah rockets and rocket launchers as “one of the defining weapons of the second Lebanon war,” predicting their impact in the Middle East “will encourage radical movements to adopt rocket attacks against U.S. and Western forces and assets.”

The report documented 4,228 rocket impacts inside Israel from rockets fired by Hezbollah from July 13 to Aug. 13. Israel suffered 53 fatalities from the attacks, along with 250 severely wounded people and 2,000 lightly wounded.

Rubin concluded the public shelters and the security rooms dictated by building codes in private dwellings were effective in protecting the 1 million civilians living in the northern Israel areas under attack. Some 250,000 Israeli civilians evacuated the north, relocating to other areas of the country.

Among the Syrian-provided rockets used were: 16.jpg

  • Grad-type 122 mm Katyusha, range 18.6 miles, warhead 66 pounds.
  • Improved Grad 122 mm Katyusha, range 31 miles
  • 220 mm rocket, range range 43.5 miles, probably Syrian-manufactured Russian “Ouragan” Multiple Launch Rocket System
  • “B302″ 302 mm rocket, range 62 miles, warhead 386 pounds, probably Syrian-manufactured Chinese WS-1 MLRS

The photographs of Syrian and Iranian rockets fired by Hezbollah provided documentation of worldwide speculation during the war that Syria and Iran both had been involved in arming Hezbollah.

Israel also identified debris from Iranian-made240 mm Fajr-3 with a range of 28 miles. Hezbollah also attacked Israeli naval vessels in the Mediterranean with the “Noor” (C802) anti-ship cruise missile, a Chinese-designed, Iranian-manufactured missile. On July 14, a C802 killed four Israeli sailors aboard the Israeli Navy Ship INS Hanit.

During the first two weeks of the war, Hezbollah rocket attacks averaged about 100 per day. In early August, Hezbollah doubled the rate of attack to a daily average of 200. There was a decline in the final week, although Hezbollah still was able to launch 250 rockets Aug.13, the day before the cease-fire. Rubin concluded “Israeli counterattacks apparently had no serious influence on Hezbollah’s rate of fire but had an effect on the accuracy and geography of the attacks.”

17.jpgRubin concluded Israel needed to reduce the “flash-to-bang” cycle – the interval from the launch of a Hezbollah rocket to the Israeli counterattack – to a few seconds from the time of pinpointing launcher location. Rubin’s second major conclusion was Israel needed “to develop and deploy effective and affordable active defense against rockets to protect vital civilian and military installations.”

Early warning sirens were credited with providing “timely alarms, saving innumerable lives.”

Counter-fire by Israeli artillery was rated “marginally effective,” as were raids by Special Forces units on rocket launchers and command posts. Rubin also rated air strikes as “moderately effective,” as they degraded the accuracy of the rocket launchers and pushed them away from the best launching zones from which to strike Haifa.

Rubin noted that one of the major effects of the war was that economic activity in Israel effectively was suspended for a month.

LA Domes for Homeless to Be Sold Online

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

Before you read actual story dated 8/31/06 (below), read this year old story from WSJ online. No editorial needed you read, you decide.

21a1.jpgBy TED HAYES
Wall Street Journal Editorial

American blacks who are affiliated with the Republican Party are vigorously vilified by Democrats, especially black Democrats. Uncle Tom, sell-out, Oreo — the list of slurs is long.
But it is not only insults. I am the founder and director of a unique, progressive homeless facility in downtown Los Angeles, known as the Dome Village. Yet the 35 men, women and children and their pets who call the Dome Village home are being “evicted” from privately owned property after 12-and-a-half years — apparently on account of my political beliefs and activities. You see, though I am a leading homeless activist, I am also a conservative Republican and a strong supporter of President Bush.

Here’s how the situation played out. Recently, I was invited to address a local Republican Women’s Club; my landlord read an article in the local paper reporting on the event. Soon after, I received a notice raising the Dome Village rent from $2,500 a month to $18,330.

Shocked, I inquired as to the seriousness of the change and the property owner blurted out that the cause of our “eviction” was “because you are Republican.”
He said that as a Democrat, he was tired of helping me and the Dome Village. In other words, let the homeless be damned.
And people think the Democrats are the party of compassion and tolerance. Private property should be protected, of course, and I have no intention of causing any trouble for this property owner as we part ways. Whatever he does with his valuable land — it is only a few blocks from the Staples Center — is no concern of mine, and I will not go to court.
Still, I cannot help but be saddened by the whole business. When I founded the Dome Village 12 years ago, we had an understanding that he could ask for his property back at any time for any reason, and I would say “absolutely” without hesitation. Still, his reason was prejudice against Republicans.
We see this across the country. Michael Steele, the lieutenant governor of Maryland and a Republican candidate for the Senate, has been crudely denigrated on racial grounds. A prominent leftist Web site, for instance, depicted him as “Sambo,” among other aspersions. When Condoleezza Rice was nominated as Secretary of State, she faced similar treatment: editorial cartoons depicting her as a racial caricature, personalities calling her “Aunt Jemima” on liberal talk radio, and so forth. Clarence Thomas, Ward Connerly, Colin Powell, Thomas Sowell and other black conservatives regularly face similar smears.

These conservatives are attacked not because of the validity or judicious consideration of their views but because those views are supposedly heterodox for American blacks. Yet it is my opinion that many black people in the U.S. are politically and philosophically conservative — and many are in fact actually closeted Republicans, fearful of persecution by friends, business associates, society clubs, school mates and even churches.

It is time for American blacks to have a conversation about the phenomenon of Democrats persecuting black Republicans. Why is this happening? What is it that the Democrats don’t want black folks to understand about Republicans? What is it that the Democrats don’t want black folks to know about Democrats? And how is it that we have come to this point — after having endured so much — where we have ourselves curtailed the freedom of political expression through the threat of retaliatory consequences?

Mr. Hayes is a homeless activist in Los Angeles

app.jpgDonald Trump has fired his sidekick from “The Apprentice,” Carolyn Kepcher, after she reportedly became too enamored with her fame from the show.
Kepcher was relieved of her duties as general manager of Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff, N.Y., earlier this week.
Sources tell People magazine that Trump had been unhappy with her performance for some time.
The source says, “This has been brewing for over a year. He has tried to get her on the phone, and she was either off giving a speech or was hard to reach.”
The real estate mogul reportedly felt that Kepcher was promoting her own career more than his golf course.
The source adds, “She was supposed to be managing the golf course. She was supposed to be selling memberships. That’s her job to sell memberships, and she just wasn’t doing it.
“With the book, the speaking engagements and these endorsement deals, he’s looking at that and thinking, ‘She’s supposed to be working for me. Yet, she is off creating her own empire.’”
Trump’s representative Jim Dowd’s only comment on the firing was, “Mr. Trump wishes her the best.”

They Shot the Wrong Lincoln

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

liberalslaw.jpg

By Ann Coulter
FrontPageMagazine.com

In addition to supporting Democrat Joe Lieberman over Republican Alan Schlesinger in Connecticut, President Bush is supporting the Democrat over the Republican in Rhode Island, too. In the Republican primary, Bush supports Lincoln Chafee – who votes with Bush on the important issues less often than Sen. Lieberman does – over the only actual Republican in the race, Stephen Laffey.
Apart from Bush, the only person who hasn’t figured out that Lincoln Chafee is a Democrat is Lincoln Chafee. As the expression goes, if Chafee switched parties, the average IQ on both sides of the aisle would go up.
It’s hard to figure why Bush would support a half-wit like Lincoln Chafee. Maybe he believes his own poll numbers and is trying to help the conservatives by endorsing their opponents.
After Chafee’s family money got him into Andover and Brown, he made his living shoeing horses for seven years. In fact, I’ve often wondered if an errant kick to the head by one of his charges would account for Chafee’s rudimentary cognitive abilities.
That remains Chafee’s only professional accomplishment – unless you include the “fun zone” for kids on his official Senate website. Perhaps we could install a “play zone” like they have at McDonald’s in the Senate well to keep Chafee occupied while the real senators go about their business.
When the farrier business proved too taxing for Chafee’s intellect, he went into the family business – politics. His father died in office, and Lincoln was appointed by the governor to serve out the remainder of Pop’s term in the U.S. Senate. (I know Rhode Island is small, but couldn’t they find someone who reads books right side up to fill the seat?) In terms of qualifications for the job, Chafee makes Michael Brown look like Donald Rumsfeld.
Chafee is everything the Democrats like to claim Republicans are, which we are not and they are: silver-spoon morons who get ahead on the basis of family connections (for example, Ned the Red Lamont in Connecticut).
The only reason Chafee calls himself a Republican is that he believes that everyone above a certain income level is required by law to do so.

Ex-CBS Reporter: Couric a ‘Liberal Democrat…in Love With Hillary’

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

From Newsbusters by Tom Johnson, NewsBusters link

couple2.jpg

According to a new biography of Dan Rather, one longtime CBSer — no, not Rather himself — believes what most NewsBusters readers believe: that incoming CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric is in the tank for Hillary Clinton.

In his review of Alan Weisman’s Lone Star, Dave Shiflett of Bloomberg News writes that

[f]ormer [CBS] congressional correspondent Phil Jones tells Weisman that Couric is “a liberal Democrat who is so in love with Hillary Clinton” that it could pose a problem if Clinton runs for president.

We’re left believing that Rather’s critics will soon be pining for the good old days when straight-shooting Dan ruled the CBS roost.

It would appear that conservatives who read Lone Star will enjoy certain parts (Shiflett notes that in “Weisman’s acerbic telling, [Walter Cronkite] is an arrogant blowhard ‘who still believes that the anchor chair should have been retired with him in 1981′”) far more than they’ll enjoy others (in Shiflett’s words, Weisman considers Memogate “a fairly minor error that sparked a gross overreaction”).

G Dub Gunned Down!

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

ba.jpg

FROM DRUDGE

This is the dramatic moment when President George Bush is gunned down by a sniper after a public address at a hotel, in a gripping new docudrama soon to be aired on TV.
Set around October 2007, President Bush is assassinated as he leaves the Sheraton Hotel in Chicago.
Death of a President, shot in the style of a retrospective documentary, looks at the effect the assassination of Bush has on America in light of its ‘War on Terror’.
The 90 minutes feature explores who could have planned the murder, with a Syrian-born man wrongly put in the frame.
Peter Dale, head of More4, which is due to air the film on October 9, said the drama was a “thought-provoking critique” of contemporary US society.
He said: “It’s an extraordinarily gripping and powerful piece of work, a drama constructed like a documentary that looks back at the assassination of George Bush as the starting point for a very gripping detective story.
“It’s a pointed political examination of what the War on Terror did to the American body politic.
“I’m sure that there will be people who will be upset by it but when you watch it you realise what a sophisticated piece of work it is.
“It’s not sensationalist, or simplistic but a very thought-provoking, powerful drama. I hope people will see that the intention behind it is good.”
The film will premier at the Toronto Film Festival in September and was written and directed by Gabriel Range.

Evangelist drowns trying to walk on water

Pastor reportedly told congregation he could repeat miracle of Jesus

Story Link from World News Daily

An evangelist who tried replicating Jesus’ miracle of walking on water has reportedly drowned off the western coast of Africa.
Pastor Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation he could repeat the biblical miracle, and he attempted it from a beach in Gabon’s capital of Libreville.
“He told churchgoers he’d had a revelation that if he had enough faith, he could walk on water like Jesus,” an eyewitness told the Glasgow Daily Record.
“He took his congregation to the beach saying he would walk across the Komo estuary, which takes 20 minutes by boat. He walked into the water, which soon passed over his head and he never came back.”
The New Testament records the story of Jesus walking on the Sea of Galilee as he approached his disciples in a boat.
“And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.” (Matthew 14:25)
As WND reported in April, a researcher at Florida State University believes he has a natural explanation for the account of Jesus’ miraculous walk on the surface of water – ice.
Professor of Oceanography Doron Nof and the co-authors of his study theorize that a rare combination of optimal water and atmospheric conditions resulted in a unique, localized freezing phenomenon called “springs ice,” according to Physorg.com, which specializes in news about science, technology, physics and space.

Sen. Conrad Burns: Terrorists Drive Taxis By Day, Kill at Night

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

taxidriver.jpgRepublican Sen. Conrad Burns, whose recent comments have stirred controversy, says the United States is up against a faceless enemy of terrorists who “drive taxi cabs in the daytime and kill at night.”
During a fundraiser Wednesday with first lady Laura Bush, the three-term Montana senator talked about terrorism, tax cuts and the money he has brought to his state. Burns is one of the more vulnerable Senate incumbents, facing a tough challenge from Democrat Jon Tester.
He has drawn criticism in recent weeks for calling his house painter a “nice little Guatemalan man” during a June speech. Burns, whose re-election campaign is pressing for tighter immigration controls, also suggested that the man might be an illegal immigrant. The campaign later said the worker is legal.
Burns, 71, also had to apologize after confronting members of a firefighting team at the Billings airport and telling them they had done a “piss-poor job,” according to a state report. In July, the Hotshot crew had traveled 2,000 miles from Staunton, Va., to help dig fire lines for about a week around a 143-square-mile wildfire east of Billings.
At the campaign event with Bush, Burns talked about the war on terrorism, saying a “faceless enemy” of terrorists “drive taxi cabs in the daytime and kill at night.”
Bush described Burns as a strong advocate for Montana farmers and families.
“In Washington, Senator Burns is a respected voice on the issues facing rural communities in Montana and across the nation,” Bush told Burns supporters.
She also said Burns has been important in helping the president on key initiatives, such as tax cuts, and has supported the troops fighting in Iraq and the war on terror.

RadioShack Uses E-Mail to Fire Employees

email1.jpgFORT WORTH, Texas

RadioShack Corp. notified about 400 workers by e-mail that they were being dismissed immediately as part of planned job cuts.
Employees at the Fort Worth headquarters got messages Tuesday morning saying: “The work force reduction notification is currently in progress. Unfortunately, your position is one that has been eliminated.”
Company officials had told employees in a series of meetings that layoff notices would be delivered electronically, spokeswoman Kay Jackson said. She said employees were invited to ask questions before Tuesday’s notification on a company intranet site.
Derrick D’Souza, a management professor at the University of North Texas, said he had never heard of such a large number of terminated employees being notified electronically. He said it could be seen as dehumanizing to employees.
“If I put myself in their shoes, I’d say, ‘Didn’t they have a few minutes to tell me?’” D’Souza said.
Laid-off workers got one to three weeks pay for each year of service, up to 16 weeks for hourly employees and 36 weeks for those with base bay of at least $90,000, the company said.
The company announced Aug. 10 that it would cut 400 to 450 jobs, mostly at headquarters, to cut expenses and “improve its long-term competitive position in the marketplace.” RadioShack has closed nearly 500 stores, consolidated distribution centers and liquidated slow- moving merchandise in an effort to shake out of a sales slump.
Shares of RadioShack rose 21 cents, or 1.2 percent, to $18.13 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

DAD KILLS IN ‘PERV’ RAGE

From NY Post

LAWYER STORMS INTO HOUSE AND STABS
NEIGHBOR AFTER DAUGHTER IS ‘MOLESTED’:
CONN. POLICE

Good for him, we need to cut up more of these sicko child molesting fucks.

9v.jpgAn enraged Connecticut lawyer leaped through the window of the house next door and plunged a knife into his neighbor’s chest a dozen times - after being told the man had molested his 2-year-old daughter, police said yesterday.
Patent-law attorney Jonathon Edington, 29, turned vigilante after receiving a phone call Monday evening from his wife - who was away on vacation with their daughter - telling him that the neighbor, Barry James, 58, had been sexually abusing the little girl.
That prompted the seemingly mild-mannered Edington to storm over to James’ house in the quiet suburban neighborhood, jump through a kitchen window and stab him, said Capt. Gary MacNamara of the Fairfield, Conn., police. The victim’s elderly parents looked on in horror.
When Edington returned to his house, James’ 87-year-old mother called police. Officers found the lawyer in his kitchen trying to wash blood off his hands and the murder weapon lying on the counter, MacNamara said.
Edington was arrested without incident and was charged Tuesday with murder and burglary.
His lawyer said his client simply lost it after being told his daughter had been sexually assaulted.
“The daughter gave the mother information which was alarming and disturbing. The mom relayed it to her husband. That was the spark,” attorney Mickey Sherman said.
He would not say when the alleged molestation occurred.
MacNamara said police have no evidence that such an assault took place but were investigating.
“Mr. Edington had received information from a relative leading him to believe Mr. James had sexually assaulted his daughter,” he said. “We have no information [that] any improper conduct occurred between Mr. James and Mr. Edington’s daughter. We have no indication if it’s true or not.”
MacNamara said cops had not yet interviewed Edington’s wife, Christina, and had no indication “of any sort of family problems.”
But he added, “There is the potential that we now have a 2-year-old sexual-assault victim and we are continuing to investigate that.”
Several detectives went to Edington’s house yesterday and examined a window panel that they took from the scene. It wasn’t immediately clear why.
Edington was released yesterday after posting a $1 million bond in Bridgeport Superior Court.

More Armitage where is the outrage from the left now!?

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

This is from Rush on yesterdays (Wednesdays) show. His take on why the liberal blogs, the liberal media, the liberal pundits are all silent on the revelation that Armitage is the leaker?

leaker.jpgCALLER: I am the best I can be, at two things. I called about the Valerie Flameout case. I have about two six-hour tapes of Wilson and Rove impeachment, special prosecutor and Libby, and I got five and one half minutes Monday on the truth about the CIA leak case, not one minute of Matthews eating crow or anything else. I’m just wondering, do you think Isikoff could have rolled that story out Monday, knowing it was going to get rolled under by Katrina this week?

RUSH: No, no. They’re trying to sell books. Liberals are liberals first, they like money as much as anybody else.

CALLER: Well, they rolled it out on a terrible week and I haven’t even seen Corn out at all.

RUSH: Well, he’s been out there. You have to read certain things. The problem is not Katrina. The problem is that this sweeps away the foundation of everybody’s theory. You know, there’s a blog site out there called the Huffington Post, and the Huffington Post — some people call it the “Puffington Post;” I don’t pay enough attention to it to even give it a trick name, but it has practically lived on posts from wackos who were convinced that Rove was going to be indicted and that Rove and Cheney and Scooter Libby and maybe even Bush were going to be indicted, Bush impeached and so forth. Now it’s Armitage and the whole thing has done a flameout.

The reason you’re not hearing about it is because it didn’t go where all these leftists had pinned their hopes. It’s just the latest in a long line of lies that they have told themselves. Matthews hasn’t done anything on it because, A, Katrina is an opportunity to beat up Bush, but B, there’s nothing here to do. Here are the questions for you about this. The questions about this are: Where are the media dogging Richard Armitage? Turn this around. I mean, look at how long they hung around Rove’s house. They were dogging Rove. They were following Rove all over the place. Media hordes followed around Scooter Libby whenever he left the White House.

Now we know it’s Armitage. Have you seen one reporter sidle up to Armitage and say, “Why didn’t you say anything sooner sir?” Poke a microphone in his face, “Have you seen anybody stake out Colin Powell?” “Secretary Powell, you knew this much sooner than we knew you knew it, you knew this much sooner than anybody else knew it. Why did you remain silent?” Have you seen any of that? You haven’t, and you won’t. You won’t see any of that because this is a disappointment. The air has been let out of the tire here, so to speak, but there’s no anger at Armitage because, you see, the thing worked! As far as Matthews and the boys are concerned, it worked.

I cited the polling data that’s been going on, ABC News, Washington Post, Pew Center for people in the press, 68 to 72% of the American people think that Bush did something unethical, that they were attacking Joe Wilson’s wife and Joe Wilson himself and it was all to get even with them because they had tried to sabotage or criticize Bush’s war policy, so as far as the Matthewses of the world are concerned, it worked. Bush’s poll numbers were driven down, is considered unethical. Bush, Cheney, and Rove are considered to be conspirators and mean-spirited and they try to destroy their political enemies. The Bush administration considered to be at the very at least unethical. So as far as they’re concerned, it worked.

Former Lynchburg Virginia Mayor gets probation in fraud-case conviction

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

U.S. District Judge James C. Turk instead sen- tenced Hutcherson to 36 months of probation and six months of house arrest, and ordered him to perform 200 hours of community service. Turk also ordered Hutcherson to check in to Lynchburg’s Elim House, a residential treatment program, to undergo a year of counseling.
Ex-mayor is spared prison

mayor1.jpgROANOKE — Former Lynchburg Mayor Carl B. Hutcherson Jr., convicted in May of raiding his church’s charity to pay his bills, will serve no time in prison, a federal judge ruled yesterday.
Turk passed the sentence after witnesses testified that Hutcherson had spent a lifetime aiding the elderly, clothing the homeless and dipping into his own pocket to pay rent and electric bills for the poor.
“That’s my dad’s life story,” testified his daughter Sherri Deloatch, 33.
Minutes after she testified, Hutcherson, 62, stood and accepted responsibility for his crimes.
“I let my city down,” he said. “I let my church down. I let my family down. But most of all, I let my God down.
“I do take full responsibility. While it was not my intent to commit [a] crime, I stand guilty before this court. I apologize to my wife . . . my children, grandchildren, friends, to the judge, to this honorable court, and to anyone that I might have hurt by my actions. I am deeply sorry.”
Hutcherson left the U.S. District Court in Roanoke a relieved but humbled man. At one point a pastor, a mayor and a member of a local bank board, he now holds none of those positions. Hutcherson gave up his role as pastor while fighting the criminal charges, and he resigned from City Council and the major’s job the day after the federal jury convicted him in May.
“We all sin and fall short,” Hutcherson said outside the federal courthouse. “I did. I sinned and fell short.” Still, he said, “I feel pretty good right now.”
About 70 friends and family members had packed into the courtroom to show their support for Hutcherson. The crowd spontaneously broke into applause when Turk announced his sentence, which was far more lenient than the 37 months in prison that federal sentencing guidelines called for.
In May, a federal jury convicted Hutcherson of five counts of fraud, lying to federal investigators, and obstruction of justice. The jury concluded that, while he was pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutcherson had illegally taken a contribution of more than $30,000 that Falwell Ministries had made to a charity run by the church and used it to pay off his debts. At the time, Hutcherson, who owns a funeral home, owed more than $100,000 in federal back taxes, prosecutors alleged.
The convictions also included Hutcherson’s theft from two handicapped Social Security recipients whose money he was supposed to manage.
At yesterday’s sentencing hearing, defense attorney John Fishwick asked for leniency, telling Turk that Falwell Ministries knew its donation to Trinity New Life Development Corp. might be loaned by the charity to Hutcherson. Fishwick submitted a stack of letters signed by hundreds of people asking Turk to spare Hutcherson. One of the letters was endorsed with Jerry Falwell’s signature.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Bondurant Jr. argued that Hutcherson should spend time in prison since he had abused a position of trust. He added that Hutcherson engineered the transfer of the Falwell donation from the charity to his funeral home without the knowledge of the charity’s governing board. Finally, Bondurant noted that Hutcherson spent some of the ill-gotten money on a mistress, cable television and fine dining.
The federal sentencing guidelines called for a prison term of between 37 and 46 months. But Turk, who said he was taking into consideration Hutcherson’s history of good deeds, opted to put him on probation. Turk also ordered Hutcherson to pay $12,400 in court fines and fees, and more than $7,800 in restitution to the two Social Security recipients he ripped off.

Collateral Damage?

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

armitage.jpgSources close to Richard Armitage have confirmed for the NYTimes that he was, indeed, the source not only for Bob Novak, but also for Bob Woodward and another journalist.

Remember when all of the liberal nut blogs were all over this story bitching and complaining that everyone in the Bush Administration should have been fired impeached, thrown in jail for outing poor Valerie and screwing over Mr. Wilson.
It’s funny how I have scanned the liberal blogsphere and it is awfully quiet. I can’t find any blog that was open enough or bold to post the story. Of course, why look like an ass now, we have work to do reminding everybody about Bush’s failure in NOLA!

I of course went back to the blog that was considered by most to be the top dog in covering this whole mess, Firedoglake.

Hamas chief attacks ’stupid anarchy’ of Palestinians

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

terror1.jpg

(Thanks Misty!)

By Tim Butcher in Jerusalem
From Telegraph UK - Article Link

A senior member of Hamas has broken a taboo by calling on Palestinians to stop blaming Israel for all their ills and look instead at their own failures.

Ghazi Hamad, the Hamas government’s official spokesman, said Palestinians had been “attacked by the bacteria of stupidity”.

“The anarchy, chaos, pointless murders, the plundering of lands, family feuds … what do all of these have to do with the occupation?” he asked in the opinion piece published in the Palestinian newspaper, al-Ayyam. “We have always been accustomed to pinning our failures on others, and conspiratorial thinking is still widespread among us.”

He was particularly scathing about the failure of the Palestinians to make a success of the Gaza Strip, the territory that Israel effectively surrendered a year ago.

“When you walk around in Gaza, you cannot help but avert your eyes from what you see: indescribable anarchy, policemen that nobody cares about, youth proudly carrying weapons. From time to time you hear that so-and-so was murdered in the middle of the night, and the response comes quickly the next morning. Large families carry weapons in tribal wars against other families.

“The reality in which we are living in Gaza can only be described as miserable and wretched, and as a failure in every sense of the word.” His description resonates with what many outsiders find when they leave the orderly roads and fields of Israel and cross into Gaza, a dirty, crowded coastal strip teeming with 1.4 million people.

Israel can be blamed for many of Gaza’s problems but there is plenty of evidence to support Mr Hamad’s thesis, that the kidnapping, lawlessness and social chaos are, at least partly, homegrown.

He said his article was his private opinion.

But it is a sign of growing division between Hamas members living in the Palestinian territories and exiles living elsewhere, including the leadership in Damascus.

The exiles take a hard-line attitude, insisting on militants continuing to fire Qassam rockets from Gaza into Israel. But people, such as Mr Hamad, who live in Gaza seem to have lost patience with these tactics.

The rockets have killed only four Israelis, yet hundreds of Palestinians have died in Israeli retribution.

More 2008 watching…The Conservative Case Against Rudy Giuliani In 2008

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

This piece from Rightwing News. A good piece on the conservative case against Rudy in 2008. I’m kinda luke warm on Rudy. As this piece points out dude is a little too far left in much of his thinking and ideology. I see Rudy as a VP choice rather than a top of the ticket sort of guy.
I’m peeping all sorts of negative stuff about him from both sides. The 9/11 persona is definitely wearing off.

Rudy08Md.jpgRudy Giuliani, a contender for the Presidency in 2008, is receiving an inordinate amount of positive attention. That’s quite understandable since Rudy is charismatic, did a great job on the campaign trail for President Bush in 2004, and his phenomenal performance after 9/11 was much appreciated.

However, likeable or not, having Rudy as the GOP’s candidate in 2008 would be a big mistake. Here’s a short, but sweet primer on some of Rudy’s many flaws.

Rudy’s Strong Pro-Abortion Stance

As these comments from a 1989 conversation with Phil Donahue show, Rudy Giuliani is staunchly in favor of abortion:”I’ve said that I’ll uphold a woman’s right of choice, that I will fund abortion so that a poor woman is not deprived of a right that others can exercise, and that I would oppose going back to a day in which abortions were illegal.

I do that in spite of my own personal reservations. I have a daughter now; if a close relative or a daughter were pregnant, I would give my personal advice, my religious and moral views …

DONAHUE: Which would be to continue the pregnancy.

GIULIANI: Which would be that I would help her with taking care of the baby. But if the ultimate choice of the woman - my daughter or any other woman - would be that in this particular circumstance [if she had] to have an abortion, I’d support that. I’d give my daughter the money for it.”

Worse yet, Giuliani even supports partial birth abortion:

“I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights,Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded.” — CNN.com, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999

It’s bad enough that Rudy is so adamantly pro-abortion, but consider what that could mean when it comes time to select Supreme Court Justices. Does the description of Giuliani that you’ve just read make you think he’s going to select an originalist like Clarence Thomas, who would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade — or does it make you think he would prefer justices like Sandra Day O’Connor and Anthony Kennedy who’d leave Roe v. Wade in place?

VA-Sen: Allen and his racist hate group friends

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

The digging continues on George Allen, this post from Kos.
The more I read about the man the more I am skeptical of him.
If more dirt is dug up about his racist tendencies, the Republican Party should back off the front runner nonsense.

The more you learn about Allen, the more his dark side emerges.

georgeallen1.jpgOnly a decade ago, as governor of Virginia, Allen personally initiated an association with the Council of Conservative Citizens, the successor organization to the segregationist White Citizens Council and among the largest white supremacist groups.

…After speaking with CCC founder and former White Citizens Council organizer Gordon Lee Baum and two of his cohorts, Allen suggested that they pose for a photograph with then-National Rifle Association spokesman and actor Charlton Heston. The photo appeared in the Summer 1996 issue of the CCC’s newsletter, the Citizens Informer.

According to Baum, Allen had not naively stumbled into a chance meeting with unfamiliar people. He knew exactly who and what the CCC was about and, from Baum’s point of view, was engaged in a straightforward political transaction. “It helped us as much as it helped him,” Baum told me. “We got our bona fides.” And so did Allen.

Descended from the White Citizens’ Councils…the CCC is designated a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center. In its “Statement of Principles,” the CCC declares, “We also oppose all efforts to mix the races of mankind, to promote non-white races over the European-American people through so-called “affirmative action” and similar measures, to destroy or denigrate the European-American heritage, including the heritage of the Southern people, and to force the integration of the races.”

Lowell at Raising Kaine dug up some quotes that illustrate what, exactly, the CCC and their good friend Allen are all about.

*”Each of the three major races plays a distinct role in history. . . . The whites were the creators of civilization, the yellows its sustainers and copyists, the blacks its destroyers.” (www.cofcc.org, 12/98)

*Abraham Lincoln was “surely the most evil American in history,” and Martin Luther King was a “depraved miscreant.” (www.cofcc.org, 12/98)

*”The Jews’ motto is ‘never forget, and never forgive.’ One can’t agree with the way they’ve turned spite into welfare billions for themselves, but the ‘never forget’ part is very sound.” (Citizens Informer, Winter/97)

*”The presence [in Congress] of even one white person with our interests foremost in his mind is simply unacceptable to the issues-obsessed conservative race traitors. Texas Governor George Bush and his brother Jeb in Florida have manifested their self-hatred by embracing Hispanics ahead of whites. Somehow we must find a way to relieve whites of their self-hatred.” (”Open Letter to White People,” www.cofcc.org, 12/98)]

These are Allen’s allies, and it’s why it’s so important to get rid of Sen. Felix Macaca. Politics matters, and we have a duty and responsibility to help cleanse our government of those who might be wearing hoods were it 50 years ago.

Bush Plays Into Hands of Katrina Critics

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

katrina14.gifby Michael Reagan - Human Events

For a long time now we’ve been listening to the Democrats and their toadies in the media complaining about the Bush administration’s handling of the Hurricane Katrina disaster and its aftermath.

They charge it up to what they call the administration’s incompetence, implying that had the Democrats been running the show, things would have been handled much better.

It takes a lot of gall to make that charge because as one Town Hall blogger, Cato’s Corner, recently pointed out, the Democrats were in charge before, during and ever since Katrina hit the Gulf Coast.

In the United States, the authorities at the state and local levels are responsible for what happens in their areas. In Louisiana the governor is a Democrat, and the mayor of New Orleans is a Democrat. They were the so-called first responders, and their response was pitiful. They can blame President Bush all they want, but it was their job to handle the disaster and their handling of it was a disaster in itself.

That incompetence continues, especially in New Orleans where the cleanup and rebuilding efforts are lagging far behind where they would have been had they done their jobs competently. And they can’t blame that on the president or the federal government.

The fact is that $11.8 billion has been allocated. That’s everything that New Orleans asked for. They got $6 billion in December, another $4 billion in May, another $1.8 billion recently, and yet they haven’t spent the money.

One big problem: New Orleans has yet to come up with a master plan that will allow people to know what they can do and how to do it.

“The citizens of New Orleans need to know what the plans are, so the citizens can make their plans on whether they should rebuild, repair or sell their homes,” Norman Francis, chairman of the Louisiana Recovery Authority, which oversees federal aid given to Louisiana told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

“A lot of people are holding their money back pending an affirmation that the city really has a broader idea of where it\’s going in the future. What kind of a city is it going to be?” added Ken Topping, a California planning consultant hired to help.

Moreover, the city refuses to relax the red-tape provisions to allow the people to get the money to be able to rebuild, which is exactly the opposite of what Mississippi’s Republican  Governor Haley Barbour has done in his state. He cut through the red tape to allow the people to get the funds necessary to go ahead and rebuild.

Another reason is that the folks in Mississippi are working together, not standing around waiting for the federal government to rebuild. Officials in Louisiana are still whining, waiting for somebody to do everything for them.

The federal government has supplied the funds. It is the local government that refuses to distribute the money. I was talking to a member of Congress from Louisiana who recalled that the Congress had authorized $6 billion last December but New Orleans made the determination that they were not going to spend any of it until they got the whole $10 billion they were then demanding.

In Mississippi, on the other hand, as they were getting the money they were finding ways to spend it to help the people rebuild.

Tragically, the President is playing into the hands of his critics by implying that he is somehow to blame for the situation. He’s allowing the Democrats to use him as fodder in their attacks on him. He needs to stand up and shout, “We’re not to blame. We gave you the money. If the people in New Orleans don’t have the money it’s not because the federal government hasn’t done its job; it’s because your local government officials refuse to do theirs.”

Pro-Gun Groups Disagree on Bill Improving Background Checks

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

By Susan Jones
CNSNews.com Senior Editor
gun1.jpg(CNSNews.com) - A Second Amendment group is warning gun owners that a “massive gun control bill” is now working its way through Congress — and is surprisingly close to becoming law.

Gun Owners of America also admits that it is the only national pro-gun group to oppose the “NICS Improvement Act of 2005″ (H.R. 1415).

Introduced by gun control advocate Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, H.R. 1415 is intended to improve the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which screens would-be gun buyers for mental problems or criminal convictions that would bar them from buying guns.

Most background checks are processed through NICS in seconds, but some are delayed if the FBI lacks complete, updated, and automated information from the states.

The bill notes that approximately 24 million criminal records are not automated or not accessible to NICS; and another 16 million criminal records are not up to date. Some lack information on whether an arrested person was convicted or acquitted, for example.

Many states have failed to computerize the necessary information and make it available to NICS in a “usable format,” and that’s what the McCarthy bill would address.

Wal-Mart’s ‘Gay’ Partnership Risks Conservative ‘Rollback’

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

By Randy Hall
CNSNews.com Staff Writer/Editor
gayflag.jpg

(CNSNews.com) - After months of criticism from union-backed groups over its employee pay and health care practices, Wal-Mart now faces a potential “rollback” of support from conservatives because of the retail giant’s partnership with a homosexual business coalition.

“I don’t think this is something that will sell on Main Street America, where most Wal-Mart stores are located,” said Tony Perkins, president of the conservative Family Research Council (FRC). “I don’t think cheap prices on goods from China will be enough to stop a rollback in their customer base if they choose to go down this aisle.”

Joining the FRC in criticizing Wal-Mart’s new alliance with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) is Americans for Truth, which describes itself as “the only national organization devoted exclusively to exposing and countering the homosexual activist agenda.”

“Wal-Mart has always been a favorite of God-fearing Middle American customers who hold traditional family values,” said Peter LaBarbera, the group’s founder and president. “I’m very surprised that Wal-Mart would now bite the hand that feeds it and thumb its nose at those very customers.

“It seems to me that Wal-Mart should reconsider its unsavory alliance with these extremist homosexual activists in today’s heated and polarizing culture war,” LaBarbera added.

However, Bob McAdam, vice president of corporate affairs with Wal-Mart, told Cybercast News Service that the world’s largest retail company joined the NGLCC “just like we have joined a number of other groups representing all parts of the spectrum of our customers” - including women’s organizations and minority groups.

The Red Cross Ambulance Incident

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

vent-00091-2006-08-29.jpgThe Red Cross Ambulance Incident

 zombietime

On the night of July 23, 2006, an Israeli aircraft intentionally fired missiles at and struck two Lebanese Red Cross ambulances performing rescue operations, causing huge explosions that injured everyone inside the vehicles. Or so says the global media, including Time magazine, the BBC, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and thousands of other outlets around the world. If true, the incident would have been an egregious and indefensible violation of the Geneva Convention, and would constitute a war crime committed by the state of Israel.

But there’s one problem: …. the attack on the ambulances most likely never occurred. READ IT ALL.

‘Brownie’ Blames Bush, Chertoff for Katrina

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

brown2.JPGFormer FEMA Director Michael Brown, who lost his job because of Hurricane Katrina, said Tuesday his biggest regret a year later is that he wasn’t candid enough about the lack of a coherent federal response plan.

“There was no plan. … Three years ago, we should have done catastrophic planning,” Brown said, charging that the Bush administration and his department head, Michael Chertoff, “would not give me the money to do that kind of planning.”

As levees broke down at Katrina’s strike against New Orleans and people were forced from their homes, Brown said he sought futilely to get the 82nd Airborne Division into the city quickly.

Appearing on NBC’s “Today” show, he was asked about positive statements he had made at the time about how Washington would come through for the storm victims, rather than leveling with the country about how bad the situation actually was.

“Those were White House talking points,” Brown replied. “And to this day, I think that was my biggest mistake.”

Brown said that at many intervals during the week the storm hit, he found himself asking, “Where in the hell is the help?”
“I have to confess … you want to protect the president when you’re a political appointee,” he said, “so you’re torn between telling the absolute truth and relying on those talking points. To this day, that is my biggest regret. “

Brown said he had been made the scapegoat for the government’s slow response “because I’m the low man on the totem pole.” He said he thought that President Bush and Chertoff, the homeland security secretary, should have shared in the blame.brown3.JPG

He denied that he lacked qualifications to direct the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

“That’s just baloney. I spent more time in my career in local government and in state government and in emergency management experience,” Brown said. “But what I regret the most: I let the American public down. I am a fighter … but for some reason, with Katrina crashing in on me, I didn’t do it.”

abortions2.jpgSister Toldjah had this interesting piece A reminder for college-bound conservatives. anti-conservatism run amuck on college campuses.

To those who are attending college this fall for the first time, or will be returning: not all universities are conservative-friendly. Bart Adams files this timely roundup of anti-conservative incidents at colleges across the country in recent years:

• At California Polytechnic State University, student Steven Hinkle tried to post a flier in a public area of the campus Multicultural Center. The flier advertised a speech by a black conservative who authored a book titled “It’s OK to Leave the Plantation” who argues that African-Americans are too dependent on government programs. A number of students who informally gathered in the center tried to prevent him from putting it up, and threatened to call the campus police when Mr. Hinkle offered to discuss the issue. After he departed, the students called the police and filed a complaint against him. The Cal Poly Judicial Office took up the case and found Mr. Hinkle guilty of “disrupting a campus event” and he was required to write letters of apology to the students he offended.

• Students at Southern Methodist University, UC-Irvine, and the University of Washington held “affirmative action bake sales” to protest the categorization of applicants based on skin color. All three bake sales were shut down by the schools’ administrations. The reason given for one closure was that the event endangered public safety because a few unruly students tore down the signs and threatened the students holding the sale. Rather than arrest or detain the violent offenders, the campus police simply shut down the event.

• At Whittier College in California, a group of student journalists put together a conservative newspaper called the Liberty Bell. After printing the second issue, they were told that they were forbidden to distribute it on campus without receiving permission from the school’s publications board. … Yet none of the other four publications on campus have been asked to submit to evaluation by this board.

• Students at Citrus College, a public college in California, were given an extra-credit assignment by Professor Rosalyn Kahn as part of a required speech class in which they were ordered to write letters to President Bush protesting the war in Iraq. Those who wrote letters praising the Iraq campaign or who refused to actually mail their letters to the president’s office were refused credit for the assignment.

• A criminology class at a Colorado university was told to write an essay on why President Bush was a war criminal. When a student instead wrote why Saddam Hussein was the war criminal, she was given a failing grade.

NBC’s Williams Showcases Left-Winger on Katrina/Race: Bushes ‘Clueless Patricians’

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

katrina12.jpgI only watched a portion of this but if Dyson is the only credible Nigga that can come on and speak about Katrina and the issues of race then we are in fucken trouble.
Dyson makes me sick, for some odd reason is he now the designated Nigga that gets tapped to be interviewed and appear on the news and talk shows because he is seen as this intellectual and insightful brotha that will show compassion for those poor negro souls.
All of these other right wing sellout Negros who are beating up on these people in their time of need is just wrong.
Dyson can kiss my black ass and if Williams thinks he can get away with narrowing the focus of opinion on Katrina then fuck him too.
Like I said in my post last week, if the Gubment failed those people then selfish ass Niggas did too. I know niggas were watching those “horrible” images saying “glad it ain’t me down there, those niggas should have got their black asses out”
Bringing out the race card on this issue is stupid and a year later the media is still asking those questions, I am frankly shocked that more white people have not spoken louder and rejected this racism notion more vehemently.
More money has been raised for Katrina victims than any other disaster in American history, hundreds of billions of dollars, when frankly not one fucken dime should have been sent down there because of all of the ineptness and corrupt culture in Louisiana.
That money will certainly disappear into the hands of some corrupt Louisiana public officials.
Let’s also not forget that those crazy bastards voted that ignorant mayor back in office to oversee the rebuilding NOLA. The same fuck that could not manage the disaster is supposed to coordinate the rebirth of NOLA, classic.
Oh, Spike’s documentary did not mention the fact that Nigga Nagin spent a lot of his time in Dallas during the disaster, confused, clueless and cowering. That little tidbit still escapes people who examine who is at fault.
Let me stop ranting, I’m just sick of the media race bating and politicizing the issue for ratings, I’m sick of people like Dyson pimping his liberal bullshit and reporters like Williams allowing it, I’m just sick of this Katrina bullshit.
If that had happened in the Midwest the media would not be giving all of this attention to this issue. It’s just another case of white liberals using Niggas to make their case, pretending like they give a shit when they don’t.

THE STORYkatrinatoon1.gif

Looking back at Katrina a year later, NBC’s Brian Williams decided to raise the issue of race and to showcase as his sole expert, on both Monday’s NBC Nightly News and a prime time special, left-wing professor Michael Eric Dyson, author of Come Hell or High Water: Hurricane Katrina and the Color of Disaster. Williams, from New Orleans, set up his Nightly News segment by arguing the disaster “destroyed” a lot and “it exposed a lot, too, including, some say, the dicey issues of race and class in our country.” Dyson, a regular on Bill Maher’s HBO show and a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, declared: “The people in New Orleans were left behind long before the vicious winds and violent waters of Hurricane Katrina came along to wash them away.”

Williams asked: “What was your reaction when Barbara Bush said they’re really better off?” Dyson retorted: “Yeah, I’m a Christian minister man, so I always try to give love as the first response. But I’ll tell you, when Barbara Bush said that, it reinforced the reputation of the Bushes as clueless patricians, number one. Number two, inadvertently, let’s be honest, she was right at a certain level…” Williams followed up: “Were they robbed of their dignity by the government?” (Transcript follows)

dyson1.jpgSetting up another taped segment with Dyson which aired during an 8pm EDT prime time special hosted by Williams, Katrina: The Long Road Back, Williams re-played a clip of his December 12, 2005 session with President Bush, aboard Air Force One, for NBC Nightly News:

“After the tragedy, I heard someone ask rhetorically, ‘What if this had been Nantucket, Massachusetts, or Inner Harbor Baltimore or Chicago or Houston?’ Are you convinced the response would have been the same? Was there any social or class or race aspect to the response?”

Bush replied in the answer shown in December and again on Monday night:

“Somebody I heard — you know, a couple of people you know said, ‘Bush didn’t respond because of race, because he’s a racist’ or alleged that. That is absolutely wrong. And I reject that. Frankly, that’s the kind of thing that — you can call me anything you want — but do not call me a racist.”

How NAFTA superhighway is built under radar screen

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

nafta2a.JPG

This is being done right under the noses of Americans because nobody is talking about it, not the MSM, not even the blogsphere. I’m frankly dumbfounded that nobody sees this as a big issue.

Article Link from World News Daily

Officials say they see no budget ‘earmarks,’ because they don’t know where to look

WASHINGTON – Ask some members of Congress about plans to build a “NAFTA superhighway” connecting Mexico and Canada via the U.S. and you might hear snickers.

Some officials will tell you they have seen no “earmarks” for such a plan and question whether it even exists.

But the plan does exist and the NAFTA superhighway is being built – under the radar screen.

One need look no further than the $286 billion highway bill signed into law earlier this month by President Bush for some of the “earmarks.”

The measure gave the state of Tennessee more than $111 million to help plan and build Interstate 69, called “one of the most significant transportation projects in the region’s history” by the Commercial Appeal.

No one in Tennessee has any doubts about plans for the NAFTA superhighway. It is being built now with federal taxpayer dollars. And the plan calls for I-69 to extend from Michigan to Texas, linking the Canadian and Mexican borders.

Those supporting the plan, like Transportation Secretary Mario Cino, say it will bring an unprecedented windfall not only to the regions it traverses but for all Americans, Mexicans and Canadians.

Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner Gerald Nicely said I-69 “could help position the western part of the state as one of the world’s new economic centers of power in the global marketplace.”

The entire I-69 project is expected to cost $8.8 billion in current dollars, with states picking up 10 percent of the tab. So where is the money hidden? It’s not really. But nowhere in any highway bill is the project referred to as the “NAFTA superhighway.” Since the money is doled out to states to spend on their portion of the project, the allocations look like any other highway spending.

Ultimately, the Tennessee portion of the I-69 project is expected to cost $1 billion. It will shadow the present route of U.S. 51, connecting towns like Union City, Troy, Dyersburg, Ripley, Covington and Millington before following what is now I-40/240 through Midtown, according to the Commercial Appeal. The new highway bill focuses on the portion of I-69 through Northwest Tennessee about 80-110 miles north of Memphis. A 20-mile section of that segment – a four-lane stretch of U.S. 51 between Dyersburg and Troy – already is completed. Signs label it as part of the “Future I-69 Corridor.” That leaves a 19-mile section to be built from Troy to the Kentucky line before one-third of the I-69 route through Tennessee is completed.

“The route’s already been laid out, with survey markers planted in fields and cryptic benchmarks painted on the pavement of country roads,” reports the Commercial Appeal.

Detailed drawings are expected to be finished next February. Right-of-way acquisition could begin early next year. Crews could start moving earth as early as 2008.

So why are some officials still questioning whether the project is real?

Last week, in Kansas, Sen. Pat Roberts, a Republican who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, seemed like he was short on domestic, backyard intelligence when he was asked in Saline about the NAFTA superhighway project – again, prompted by reports in WND.

“There’s nothing I’m aware of in any authorization bill,” Roberts said with derision. “I don’t know where these things get started. This is one of those blogosphere things that makes you wonder what’s going on.”

When the Duluth News Tribune followed up WND reports about the project by turning to a local congressman for help, Mary Kerr, an aide to Rep.Jim Oberstar, said: “There are no earmarks for a superhighway like that.”

But you can’t hide for long a superhighway, in some places, according to plans, four football fields wide.
