See I told ya Democrats were racist!

Sharpton: Democrats Should Remove Ala. Candidates
Alabama Democrats should get rid of a candidate who denies the Holocaust and another who has advocated killing illegal immigrants, activist Al Sharpton said Monday. While state party officials say they are powerless to remove the pair from the ballot because the June 6 primary is so close, Sharpton said: “There’s no room for these two men in our big tent.”Larry Darby, seeking the party’s nomination for attorney general, denies the Holocaust occurred and recently spoke at a gathering of National Vanguard, which describes itself as a “pro-white” organization. Harry Lyon, who wants to become the Democrats’ gubernatorial candidate, has advocated killing illegal immigrants as a way to keep them out of Alabama.State party chairman Joe Turnham said both are “so far out” that neither has a shot at winning and to attempt to remove them from the ballot at this point could provide ammunition for a legal challenge. Sharpton, a New York minister and former presidential candidate, said the party’s response was inadequate.

I just read that over on Newsmax. Pretty sad commentary on the caliber of some candidates.

No, Democrats aren’t racists; any racist Democrats are really Republicans in disguise, and if they’re not Republicans in disguise (e.g. Byrd) then they are not racists, no matter the past. The best example was David Duke, who as a Democrat running for prez in 1988 came in 9th, well behind the 7 dwarves. No one had heard of him but Democrats and not even many of those. Certainly no one in the mainstream press considered him important.
Fast forward 4 years, Duke becomes a Republican and runs for prez again, coming in third of three candidates (Bush41, Buchanan, Duke). He didn’t win a single primary. In fact, I don’t know that he polled higher than 10% anywhere. But he gets all kinds of mainstream coverage and is considered by the press a serious challenger to Bush. Why? Because as a Republican he’s the symbol of latent GOP racism and the guy everyone wants to vote for in their heart of hearts.
Same guy, but only an important, dangerous, racist, threat-to-all-that-is-holy when he’s a Republican.

Oh El Borak why did you spoil my fun, I like calling Democrats racist. It fits them so well.

El Borak, are you suggesting that there might be a double standard in the way that MSM covers Republicans, as opposed to the way they cover Democrats???? I’m stunned! Stunned I tell you! :O

Me? Perish the thought.
At least it covers Republicans. If Duke had been a Libertarian he never would have been heard of at all :O

El Borak re: Comment 2 above,
Wasn’t David Duke the guy that ran for governor of Louisiana and caused one of the
largest voter turnouts in that state of all time? I think I remember seeing him on Oprah.
He was claiming reform from his racist past. Of course, this was a long time ago. Well before he ran for president.
