Former US vice-president Al Gore, who is at the Cannes Film Festival, has warned the world is facing a “planetary emergency” due to global warming.

Applause filed the halls of the Kyoto International Conference Center. “Wemust achieve a safe overall concentration level for greenhouse gases in theEarth’s atmosphere.”

Limousine liberals like Gore are so aloof from energy concerns. Do you really think Gore gives a damm about the environment, hence his care about how much fuel he is burning to spread the gospel on Global Warming? Plez! (Limousine) Liberals advocate expensive energy restrictions like blocking oil drilling in the ANWR and off the coast of California, because they don’t give a shit what energy costs. Whatever the price is, just sacrifice a few dead presidents. Way back when, gas cost folks $.10a gallon. (That sounds great until you realize that many people earned only $1 a day.) A 1906 economy transposed to 2006 would mean at least $10 a gallon gas costs easily. Many LLs would love to see prices that high. This would present no problem for them (and would cut down on traffic, too). Their opposition to nuclear energy (no new nuclear plants built since 1982) has made electricity costlier. Denouncing “dirty” coal has also forced most power plants to use natural gas drawing down gas reserves and driving prices up. We have at least a thousand year reserves of coal and the technology to burn it cleanly, but the LLs don’t want you to know this. They are aligned with the environmental wackos on these issues.
