The Limbaugh Laws

Rush introduced this last month it is being passed around. So why not here.
“The Limbaugh Laws” of immigration. No doubt, liberals (and even moderates) would be upset by these proposed immigration rules:
You must speak the native language.
You have to be a professional or an investor. We are not going to take unskilled workers. You will not be allowed.
There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, no government business will be conducted in your native language.
Foreigners will not have the right to vote, I don’t care how long they are here, nor will they ever be allowed to hold political office.
If you’re in our country, you cannot be a burden to taxpayers. You are not entitled, ever, to welfare, to food stamps, or other government goodies.
You can come if you invest here, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage. If you don’t have that amount of money, you can’t come and invest. You have to stay home.
If you do come and you want to buy land, okay, but we’re going to restrict your options. You will not be allowed to buy waterfront property in the United States. That will be reserved for citizens naturally born in this country.
In fact, as a foreigner, you must relinquish individual rights to property.
You don’t have the right to protest when you come here. You’re allowed no demonstrations, you cannot wave a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his policies, or you get sent home. You’re a foreigner.
You shut your mouth or you get out, and if you come here illegally, you go straight to jail and we’re going to hunt you down ’til we find you.

Limbaugh is just a bad comedian.
I treat these ideas the same as I would had they come from
Adam Sandler or David Spade on how to deal with the
immigration problem. But at least those guys might be funny
when they offer ideas.
But, unlike conservatives, I am one to go beyond name-calling
so I will point out a least one fatal flaw in
Limbaugh’s reasoning: Should such a policy be imposed
upon “illegal immigrants” who were born in the U.S.
and who have no say in how they got here?
Moreover here is what right-wingers forget.
IT IS REPUBLICAN CORPORATE
INTERESTS that desired cheap
labor available from immigrants, who, corporations know
won’t join unions or otherwise seek better wages and
more hospitable working conditions, DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE
FOR INCREASING THE PROLIFERATION OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
IN THE U.S.
It is Bushie Republicans wanting to continue this source of cheap
cheap labor who are
working against tougher immigration policies.
I have read sniffer’s thoughts on immigration on this blog
to know
he is applying the conservative spin on how “liberals”
approach this issue, rather than anything approaching
a true informed Liberal approach to immigration.

The liberal approach to immigration is to let them all in illegal or otherwise because liberal Democrats see them as a voting constituency. That is not my spin. Dude c’mon
You have been reading this blog long enough to know I don’t need to SPIN anything.
This is also why Democrats oppose any type of voter registration, voter identification, voting rights for felons and so on.
As far as Republicans corporate interests desiring cheap labor, sure there is something to that but this is why the federal government should fine their asses to the Stone Age if they are caught hiring illegal immigrants.
I also will be very much against and all conservatives should rally against any republican candidate who (speaks like Bush) on immigration. If they are not going to attack this issue aggressively then they don’t deserve the White House.

WHOOOOOOOOOSH! That was the sound of the irony rushing over twot’s head as he missed the point that Rush was making with “The Limbaugh Laws” of immigration. lol You may not like Rush as a comedian, twot, but he can be an excellent satirist when he wants to be. In any case, his brilliance is obviously lost on you.

Before I even address this comment, twot, I would ask you to please do your best to explain to us why all of your Democrat Party leaders are praising the way President Bush is handling this issue? Or aren’t you aware of your party’s position on illegal aliens? Tell us what “a true informed Liberal approach to immigration” means to you.

I’m with you on that 100%, Sniffer. Which is why McCain had better not be the GOP candidate. I think I’d like to see Sen. George Allen of Alabama get the bid.

I’ve seen this floating around the internet and after looking at Rush’s site and the transcript from that piece, I noticed the last but most important bit was not
included. Here’s the bit that’s left out: “You think the Limbaugh Laws are harsh? Well, every one of the laws I just mentioned are actual laws of Mexico today! That’s how the Mexican government handles immigrants to their country. Yet Mexicans come here illegally and protest in our streets! How do you say ‘double standard’ in Spanish?
How about: ‘No mas!’”
