Are YOU a Playa Hata!?

[Link] The tax cut reconciliation bill (H.R. 4297) provides households with income of $1 million or more an average tax break of $42,000. In gross contrast, the more than three-quarters of the nation’s households with annual income of $75,000 or less will receive an average tax cut of $30 for one year - not even enough to pay for a single tank of gas. And average families will end up footing the bill for millionaire tax breaks through cuts in vital services and added national debt.

The amazing offer works like this: You, the working class, get to assume ten-trillion dollars in debt and thus help out struggling Billionaires, and in return the GOP will give you a crisp twenty-dollar bill in every trillion dollar box of Tax Crackerjacks! But wait there’s more! You may have trouble paying off your share of that mountain of debt during your working life. No matter how hard you work your fingers to the bone for Billionaires, your retirement cash flow may be adversely affected by Republican legislation destroying social security or allowing corporate crooks to wallow in your retirement assets until they exhaust it and wind up face down in a pile of cocaine and hookers in Vegas. Or in a post Bush-world you may be sent to the protein reclamation center to become Soylent Green too early to fully pay your share. So the Republicans signed your kids up to take over your payments upon your death! Doesn’t that just ooze compassion?

— I love reading liberals rant about “the rich”.
You know I’m a simple guy. I make a decent living I’m right in the middle of the pack as far as median income. Between my wife and I were cool. My wife moans about our moans credit card debt from time to time, but generally we are cool.
Would I like to make more money? Sure, but I love where I work and unless something dramatic happens I will be here until the day I die.
But I was never raised to be envious of anybody. I just don’t get class envy and the hatred of the “rich”.
Are some of them crooks, you bet! Are some of them assholes? Sure! Are they greedy? Duh! But you know if I had not fucked around in school chose a different path than going into the military, No gotten married at 21, a whole host of things I might have a few extra dead presidents in my pocket.
But like the pic indicated this “Playa Hatin’” bullshit has got to stop. If yo ass is broke that is your problem!
The more money rich folks have the more they will spend. And guess what; they spend it on “stuff”. Stuff like houses, shoes, cars, boats, dinners, gambling, spa treatments, toys for their kids, clothes and all kinds of other shit.
The folks on the lower end of the totem poll provides the shit those rich folks are seeking.
Tax cuts work. The more money people have the more tax revenue that is generated.
This is not rocked science.
You liberals need to stop this boo hoo  bitching and whining because yo ass is driving around in a beat up ass 1977 Gremlin with the muffler falling off, no heater, balding tires and the Impeach Bush, Kerry Edwards, No Blood for Oil, Bush Lied and if you live in Kansas “Kansas: As bigoted as you think” bumper stickers.
Turn in that Playa Hata degree for something more productive.

I do not moan over credit card debt!! I moan over ALL debt. I think that a TON of what is going wrong in this country can be chalked up to people not living within their means; (1) personal responsibility issues; (2) entitlement mentality; (3) failure to plan ahead for emergencies; (4) inability to face facts, etc. etc. etc.

I was brought up to spend only what I had to spend, and no more. If you can’t pay cash, you can’t have it (exceptions granted, maybe, for health purposes.

That mentality has helped me avoid 1-4 problems, as much as possible.

Debt is a symptom of deeper problems. And I hate it and always will!

That said, class envy is in fact a favorite tool of many many many dictators in history (e.g. Hitler). America, although not heaven and thus not perfect, is by far one of the better places on earth to achieve greater success. It takes work (and luck) but anyone who wants MORE has a good shot at getting it. Debra Dickerson http://www.debradickerson.com/ is one very fine example of someone who was born into dire poverty/straits, but who used education and America’s miltary to help her achieve GREAT financial (and personal) success!

Hate never helps the hater have a better life.

You assume the rich spend their tax savings that no one else gets
on creating new jobs or buying goods and services.
    What ignorance.
The sluggish growth of the economy (after the initial 9-11
    shock)
demonstrates the idea does not work. We also saw the end
of Regan’s presidency ending in — outside
of the huge recession of the late 80s early 90s, but one of the most horribly
depressed real estate markets in memory. People were
being foreclosed out of their homes in droves. Commercial
real estate investors were going bankrupt overnight.
There’s an ignorant belief that if you allow the rich to
keep more of their money, they will spend it more on society.
The reality is most of them
hoard their money into accounts in offshore tax havens
like the Cayman Islands and Bermuda for future generations.
So they can get even more money they will not be taxed on.
In comparison, the economic policies under Clinton, however, saw the
fastest economic growth in history and a record surplus.
Of course, the Bush policies you cheer on above have destroyed
    all of that.
The conservatives would put the feudalism system of Europe
or dynasties of China long ago back in full force, a few people
living in palaces with the rest of the population in
    utter poverty.
Many conservatives are so blind they do not even
recognize the policies they advocate would cause
economic devastation for themselves and their families
They think it’s of principal importance to be good non-questioning
sheep to the wishes of the rich elite running their party.

Dude, this is so sad that it’s hardly worth refuting, and I truly hope you’re being facetious, though I doubt it’s the case. First off, because it’s not true (most people who are rich do not keep their millions in bank accounts, much less offshore accounts…how do I kow this? Because world bond markets - where the rich DO keep their money - are 50 times the size of bank deposits), but second off, even if they did what do you think the banks do with the money?

Seriously, do you imagine a bank is a building where if I put money into it, they just pile it up in the basement? Money that is lent to the bank (which is exactly what’s happening) is then lent to people and business. It is, in fact, invested in job-creating enterprises. When people put their money in Cayman Islands banks, that money is immediately circulated back out, lent, and spent.

GDP = C + I + G. It does not matter if the rich consume their money (C) or save/invest it (I). It is counted precisely the same way in GDP.

I think you are probably wasting your time explaining to twot how our economy works, El Borak. “Progressives seem to have a mental block about this sort of thing. It’s probably because they’re all socialists at heart.

  7. trinity Says:

Also, since twot insists on attacking conservatives, especially rich ones, I would recommend that he read the book that is advertised on this page. I’m almost finished reading “Do As I Say (Not As I Do)” by Peter Schweizer, and it makes crystal clear what absolute hypocrites many of their more famous liberal icons, (Ralph Nader,
the Clintons, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Michael Moore, Al Franken, Barbra Streisand, Noam Chomsky, George Soros, Gloria Steinem, and Cornel West) really are. I think it would be quite shocking and offensive to his “sensibilities”. These people must be made of pure, unadulterated chutzpah!

Seriously though, liberals always claim they want facts, and this book is full of very unflattering facts that expose these hypocrites for who they really are in their private lives. They spout one ideology when addressing their supporters, but quite another one when they think nobody is looking at them. Dare to give it a read, twot. ;)
