As a former bleeding heart liberal, let me just tell “the young lady” that my head nearly exploded as I took a race discrimination class from a beautiful Black woman who MARCHED in the 60’s civil rights movement (in the south no less). Ms. Marilynn Yarbourough, God rest her soul, helped me to understand that my heartfelt desire to be kind and gentle to those of darker skin tones was in fact a condencending and not too subtle way of setting myself up as superior to anyone that I wanted “to help”. That kind of “big brother” paternalism was/is in fact a reason why so many social programs have been abysmal failures! After taking that class, and reading the assigned book by Dr. Derek Bell, I began my sea change in attitude. May I suggest to this young woman that she study history more closely, and read some of the wonderful Black conservative authors (like those Snoop links to on the side bar)if she wants to begin to see what those who are not Black can do to REALLY help promote a world that allows all people to achieve their full and personal potentials! Snoop is being sarcastic 90% of the time (when he calls someone a racist), but racism still thrives (make no mistake about it)….Even in the hearts and souls of those who would be horrified to admit it…..

And you don’t have that much hair.
