THOSE WHO PEEP THE ZONE NEED TO UNDERSTAND ONE THING ABOUT WHY I DO THIS BLOG. THIS IS ABOUT LEVERAGING THE POWER YOU HAVE AT YOUR DISPOSAL.
I HAVE NEVER SAID NOR WILL I EVER SAY VOTE REPUBLICAN, ONLY, PERIOD.
WHAT I SAY IS STOP FOLLOWING THE DEMOCRATIC LIBERAL PARTY LIKE A FUCKEN LAP DOG. BLACK PEOPLE HAVE BEEN GETTIN’ PLAYED BY LIBERAL TYPES FOR YEARS.
ALL I’M SAYING IS DO YOUR HOMEWORK, LISTEN TO BOTH SIDES, READ THE FINE PRINT.
(ANY) BLACK WEBSITE, BLOG, POLITICAL COMMENTATOR, SO CALLED POLITICAL LEADER WHO SELLS YOU THE COMPLETE LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC BULLSHIT LINE THEY HAVE BEEN SELLIN’ FOR YEARS, RUN AND RUN FAST. USE COMMON SENSE. AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE AND WILL CONTINUE TO SAY RACISM HAS NO POLITICAL PARTY AFFILIATION.

THE ARTICLE
By Earl Ofari Hutchinson, BlackNews.com Columnist

Republican National Committee chair Ken Mehlman told the recent NAACP convention that he’d pull out all stops to woo black voters to the GOP tent. A few hundred miles away his boss was busy touting his program for jobs, minority business, and homeownership at the Indianapolis Black Expo. Bush and Mehlman got a listen at both places, and they should have. Blacks have gotten precious little in return for their blind loyalty to the Democratic Party. The black poor are more numerous. They live in crime and violence plagued neighborhoods. Their children attend miserably failing public schools. Public services in their communities are abominable.

Increased black GOP voter support will give blacks greater leverage in the Republican Party to promote their interests. That in turn will force the Democrats to fight harder for those interests. The GOP has reshaped the black agenda to challenge the agenda of black Democrats and mainstream civil rights groups.

But Bush and Mehlman’s black voter onslaught has nothing to do with political altruism. The GOP is playing for national and state dominance for years to come and even the most marginal bump up in the black vote for the party in key battleground states would assure that dominance. There are slight rumblings of a shift. The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a Washington D.C. based black political research institute, found that between 2000 and 2004 the percent of blacks that registered Democrat dropped 11 percent. One in three young (under age 35) blacks said they were independents. The percent of blacks registered as Republican tripled. The not insignificant Republican increase and the Democratic slide among blacks have had major political consequences.

In Search of…Civil Rights Violations

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

by Walter Williams

www.CapMag.com] Racial charges by many black politicians, civil-rights spokesmen, self-appointed black leaders and guilt-ridden whites are just plain nonsense. They get away with them because we’re ill-informed or are too timid to question their assumptions and assertions. Let’s pretend we’re social detectives, do a bit of investigative work and find the racists causing all the problems for black people.

Black illegitimacy hovers around 65 percent nationally. It’s a devastating start to life when a child is born to a 16-year-old girl, his grandmother is 30 and he doesn’t know who or where his father is. Let’s search for the racist villain with a few questions for that child’s mother; let’s call her Tamika.

“Tamika, we know that giving birth, dropping out of school and going on welfare doesn’t bode well either for your future or that of your child. We want to ensure that other young black women aren’t victimized. We want to find, arrest and bring to trial the racists responsible for your plight. Can you help us by giving us a description of your victimizer?”

During our questioning of Tamika, we might come to realize that not all black 16-year-olds are victimized like that. As such, it creates an enigma for us: Why do racists victimize some black girls and let others off the hook?

Illegitimacy is not the only major problem facing black Americans; crime is another. According to Department of Justice statistics, from 1976 to 1999, over 46 percent of all murder victims were black. How can we stop this racist atrocity?

We might begin our investigation by interviewing survivors. They might be able to give us descriptions of the assailants. Then we could arrest and prosecute the racists responsible for the havoc and misery in the black community.

But we should be alert to racist propaganda. The U.S. Department of Justice claims that, between 1976 and 1999, 94 percent of black murder victims were murdered by blacks. That’s just an evil racist plot to protect racists and in the process frame, jail and execute innocent black men.

There are some cities where racists have completely taken over and have had a field day destroying black lives and prosperity. The nation’s capital is one of them. In some of its neighborhoods, black people are huddled in their homes afraid to walk the streets, or even come to their windows, for fear of stray bullets. It’s so unsafe that retailers often refuse to make deliveries. Illegitimacy is the order of the day. Murder, rape and robbery is rife. Washington’s public schools provide black children with the nation’s worst education. The children are just one notch from the bottom in academic achievement.

The racists who’re controlling Washington — rampaging its black community, destroying black families, and stifling black achievement and prosperity ought to be brought before the bar of justice. If we can’t get the U.S. Department of Justice to act, we ought to ask Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich. — a member of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee — to call hearings to find out why racists are allowed to destroy Washington, D.C.

Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Kweisi Mfume, the Black Caucus and most guilt-ridden white people would never seek criminal or civil charges against racists for creating these and other monumental problems facing the black community. They’d look like fools, and it would be obvious to everyone.

At one time, black Americans didn’t enjoy constitutional protections. Today, we do. As such, the civil-rights struggle is over and won. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t other problems, but they are not civil-rights problems. If we diagnose them incorrectly as civil-rights problems, however, their solutions will remain illusive.

TWO SIDES……..

Monday, July 25th, 2005

I FOUND THESE TWO ARTICLES BOTH REFERING TO THE NATALEE HOLLOWAY CASE. THE FIRST ARTICLE QUESTIONS WHY YOUNG BLACK WOMEN DON’T RECEIVE THE SAME COVERAGE AS YOUNG WHITE WOMEN DO WHEN THEY DISAPPEAR.
YOU COULD ALSO GO BACK TO THE RUNAWAY BRIDE CASE FOR ANOTHER RECENT EXAMPLE.

THE FIRST ARTICLE ATTEMPTS TO MAKE THE CONNECTION BETWEEN RACE AND MEDIA COVERAGE, AN OLD BUT FAIR ARGUMENT.
THE SECOND ARTICLE BY RON LEWIS TAKES YOU TO A COMMON SENSE CONCLUSION THAT THE REASON THE MEDIA FOCUSES IT COVERAGE ON WHITE WOMEN MORE IS BECAUSE BASICALLY (WHITE WOMEN WATCH THEIR PROGRAMS).

WHILE I DON’T DISAGREE WITH RON’T POINT, YOU HAVE TO ADMIT THAT THE NOTION IS A SCARY ONE.
“SINCE YOU NIGGERS DON’T WATCH CSI WE DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN OR YOUR DAUGHTERS……”.HMMMMM.

MR LEWIS STATES IN HIS EDITORIAL THE FOLLOWING:
“Don’t preach to them that they deserve recognition just because they are Gay or Black – they don’t, it’s just that simple. And don’t lecture us for not coddling your brethren. I, and everyone I know, will gladly promise to treat each and Black, Gay, Albino, pygmy, etc., exactly as they deserve by their actions, capabilities and importantly, ability to benefit me.”
BINGO, IF YOU NIGGERS DON’T BENEFIT ME I HAVE NO USE FOR YOU.
FUCKS LIKE RON RUN RAMPANT IN OUR SOCIETY.
PEOPLE LIKE HIM ARE PART OF THE WAR NEGROS MUST FIGHT CONSTANTLY.
BUT FUCKS LIKE RON CAN GET THEIR TOES STEPPED ON AS WELL.

ONE JACKASS CAME INTO MY FACILITY LOOKING AROUND AND ON MY WAY TO THE RESTROOM I SPOTTED HIM AND ASKED IF I COULD HELP HIM, HE GAVE ME A FUCKED UP LOOK AND SAID NO AT FIRST, THEN RELUCTANTLY ASKED WHERE WERE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES.
(I WAS DRESSED CASUAL SO WHAT THE HELL COULD I BE BUT THE JANATOR.)
HE GOES AND TALKS TO THE RECEPTIONIST, I PASS HIM GOING BACK TO MY OFFICE; I GIVE THE RECEPTIONIST THE FINGER ACROSS THE THROAT SIGN, BECAUSE HE NEEDED INFORMATION FROM ME AFTER LISTENING TO HIM FOR A MOMENT.
I WAS NOT GOING TO HELP THAT FUCK WITH ANYTHING.
PRICKS LIKE THIS DUDE MAKES ASSUMPTIONS…….
WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING? THERE ARE MANY RON “TYPES” OUT THERE.
LIKE THE GUY IN MY EXAMPLE.
WHO DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT BLACKS AS “HUMAN BEINGS.” THAT GUY ASSUMED I COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR HIM SO WHY ASK FOR MY ASSISTANCE OR EVEN SPEAK TO ME.
I WAS NOT “POTENTIALLY” USEFUL TO HIM EVEN IN A SMALL WAY ……..LIKEWISE THE MEDIA……..
SO I GUESS THE MAJOR MEDIA TYPES LIKE KATIE COURIC, MATT LAURER…..THE GOOD MORNING AMERICA CREW, FOX AND FRIENDS WHATEVER COME TO THESE CONCLUSIONS WHEN DECIDING WHETHER OR NOT TO AIR A STORY ABOUT A MISSING WHITE GIRL OR BLACK GIRL?
TOO FEW BLACK PEOPLE WATCH OUR SHOW OR BUY OUR SPONSORS PRODUCTS SO AXE THE STORY ON THE NEGRO KID.

IF MR. LEWIS, YOU THINK THE MEDIA IS THAT CALLOUS AND THE WHITE WORLD IS REFLECTIVE OF THAT, THEN WE ARE IN BIGGER TROUBLE THAN I THOUGHT.
THE CASE OF THE LITTLE BLACK GIRL IN KANSAS CITY TOLD ME ALL I NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT THE NATIONAL MEDIA.
A 3 YEAR OLD IS MISSING, LATER FOUND DECAPITATED (WE WERE TOLD BY HEDGE CLIPPERS) AND NOBODY GAVE A SHIT ABOUT HER, VIRTUALLY NOTHING OUTSIDE KANSAS CITY.
I’M TALKING ABOUT SIMPLE HUMAN FEELINGS FOR ANOTHER HUMAN PARTICULARLY A YOUNG PERSON. IF THE MEDIA OR RON CAN’T SEE THE HUMAN TRAGETY OF “ANY” MISSING CHILD THEN THE WORLD IS MORE FUCKED UP THAN I IMAGINE IT TO BE.
I CAN ONLY HOPE THE LACK OF ATTENTION OF MISSING BLACK CHILDREN IS NOT DRIVEN BY ADVERTISING DOLLARS.

THE ARTICLES…….
Natalee Holloway And Missing Black Women

By Claxton Graham

On June 14, I posted an article here about Asha Degree, a nine-year old African-American girl who has not been seen alive since St Valentine’s morning back in 2000. I wrote that particular article to spotlight a case that has received a lot of attention here in the Charlotte area, but comparatively little on the national scene.

I want to call everyone’s attention to another, even more compelling, article that appeared in the July edition of Essence Magazine, on the same topic. That article, entitled “Have You Seen Her?” by Kristal Brent Zook, discusses the general nationwide silence in the media about missing black women. Specifically, it highlights the efforts of Rebekah Howard, a public-relations executive in Miami, to find her niece, 24-year-old Tamika Huston, who was last seen alive by her family in May, 2004, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Unlike Beth Holloway Twitty, who has become an overnight media fixture in her search for her daughter, Natalee Holloway, Rebekah Howard only succeeded in getting national attention for Tamika Huston’s case by consistently hounding the networks to cover the story, and even then only after other white women received attention. The article also profiles several other missing African-American women, and talks about one missing woman who managed to find her way home.

“Have You Seen Her?” should be required reading for anyone who still holds on to the belief that there is no correlation between race and media coverage in missing-persons cases. Even knowing what I know, it still opened my eyes. The article “Have You Seen Her?” is available at this link: Article

OTHER EDITORIAL (EDITED FOR LENGTH)

Natalee Holloway And Bigotry Towards Blacks

By Ron Lewis

Mr. Graham continues his woe-is-me tales of the Plight of Down Trodden Blacks in his article, “Natalee Holloway And Missing Black Women.” Exhibiting the same irrational paranoia as his earlier article, “Hidden Racism and Where to Find It” (whose logic I completely debunked in “Hidden Racism – Visible Paranoia”), Mr. Graham seems to equate the media coverage of Natalee Holloway with bigotry towards blacks - since missing black girls are not receiving the same news coverage. What hogwash!!

Mr. Graham, let me fill you in on a basic truth, little Asha was not on the news for the same reason as my sock’s story was absent, and the others. The truth is that the Media limits its coverage to stories they believe (and million dollar surveys/polls prove) will increase ratings or sell more issues. Or, a second truth, their stories might – SHUDDER THE THOUGHT – reflect the target market of their Advertisers. For example, a large Medicare supplement insurance company could approach a station with budget, so the station signs up for Matlock reruns just to hit their intended audience of fogeys. That’s all, there’s no sinister conspiracy against Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, socks, dogs, or wayward mothers. You’re just paranoid, my good man.

Just suppose that survey came back with irrefutable evidence that the main reason stories of missing black girls don’t sell is because……..fewer Blacks watch those stations, or read those newspapers/magazines. WHOA Daddy, what a concept – those media outlets would be guilty of selecting news stories that directly appeal to……their audience!!!! Are there many Natalee Hollaway stories on BET? In Ebony or Jet? Or any other Black-centric media source? Probably not – doesn’t that mean they are racist, Mr. Graham?

Americans have no desire to celebrate the uniqueness of any one group – we’re a melting pot and proud of it. Tell your Black and Gay friends to be the best they can be and to seek recognition for that accomplishment only. Don’t preach to them that they deserve recognition just because they are Gay or Black – they don’t, it’s just that simple. And don’t lecture us for not coddling your brethren. I, and everyone I know, will gladly promise to treat each and Black, Gay, Albino, pygmy, etc., exactly as they deserve by their actions, capabilities and importantly, ability to benefit me. Are you a black, albino, gay pygmy that wants to buy my software – you got my respect. Ditto if you’ve those qualities but can’t buy software, if you have integrity, honesty, and intelligence. You’ll still get fair treatment from me if you have those qualities, yet lack intelligence. Yet lack those qualities, and I don’t care what color or sexual persuasion you exhibit.

Rise above racism by sticking together

Monday, July 25th, 2005

By William M. “Bill” Grace

July 25, 2005

About 13 years ago, I read an article written by Bill Maxwell of the Gainesville (Fla.) Sun titled “When Blacks Help Blacks” and was taken back by the truths in that article. Since then, things that were articulated by Maxwell have stayed on my mind. All during that time, I was thinking that things would change and that the negative aspect of his article would be history, but here I am in the year 2005, another millennium, and things have not changed.

While many African-Americans sit around complaining and blaming white America and the conservative Bush administration for its policies that are negatively affecting us as a people, few are willing to accept blame of any kind. There have been many racially motivated incidents, nationally and locally, in this nation that have forced many whites to do some soul searching about race relations in America and some have attempted to make changes for the better. African-Americans must not become enamored of the blame-game.

Judge lays down own law: No all-white juries

Monday, July 25th, 2005

WOULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IS SO CONTROVERSIAL ABOUT THIS. ESPECIALLY IN CHICAGO!!?
IT’S NOT HARD TO FIND SOME NEGRO PERSON WHO DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO DO DURING THE DAY, YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT THESE FREAKEN LAWYERS CAN’T FIND (ONE) NEGRO TO SERVE?
UNLESS IT IS RACISM… OR THE FACT THAT THEY ARE SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDING BECAUSE OF RACE, WHAT THE FUCK ELSE COULD IT BE?
IF YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF KANSAS OR NEBRASKA I COULD SEE THAT BUT THERE IS NO EXCUSE IN COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS OR ANY OTHER MAJOR CITY IN THE U.S.

Transcripts reveal controversial stand

By Jeff Coen
Tribune staff reporter

A judge’s comments in recent months that she would refuse to seat an all-white jury have raised eyebrows at Cook County Criminal Court and questions about whether the judge acted inappropriately.

“Folks, you all know I have a rule; I don’t seat all white jurors,” Circuit Judge Evelyn Clay said as a jury was being picked to hear a murder trial last month, according to court transcripts.

Chief Criminal Court Judge Paul Biebel Jr. said last week that he had recently been made aware of the remarks Clay made.

Clay admitted they were “indelicately stated” and said she regretted being blunt. But it is her view that qualified African-Americans were being left off juries without good reason, she said.

“I try to preside over jury trials in a fair and impartial way–that is always my goal,” Clay said. “I carry out all my duties and responsibilities with that goal.”

Clay, who is African-American, made the remarks in chambers before three separate trials, according to transcripts reviewed by the Tribune.

The first time was the April 20 trial of a man for unlawful use of a weapon. After eight jurors were picked, Clay indicated she was not satisfied with the makeup of the panel.

“I’m telling you folks, I don’t know what you all intend to do, but I have no intention of seating an all-white jury,” Clay said, according to transcripts.

Ronald Allen, a law professor at Northwestern University, called the judge’s comments extraordinary.

“I’ve never heard of a judge making such a statement, and I think it was ill-advised to do so publicly,” he said. “It injects an unfortunate racial element into the matter, and quite frankly it raises very serious questions about whether [the judge] is discriminating against whites.”

But Allen said he is willing to give the judge the benefit of the doubt. “It may be that she thought what she was observing was [lawyers] trying to discriminate against blacks,” he said, “and what she was saying is, `I’m not going to permit that.’”

In a 1986 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Batson vs. Kentucky that it was a violation of the constitution to keep blacks off juries solely because of their race. The court found that the public’s confidence in the fairness of the system would be damaged.

It is reasonable to expect that almost any random selection of 12 people from Cook County would contain at least one minority, experts said, and while it may be a noble goal in seating a jury, there is no requirement that every jury must include members of a certain race.

Apathy of our youth dilutes effectiveness of democracy

Monday, July 25th, 2005

“She said change will only come when young people insist upon it”

WELL WHILE MOST OF TODAY’S YOUTH ARE GETTING DRUNK, TALKING ALL DAMM DAY ON A CELL PHONE (ABOUT NOTHING) AND SPENDING MONEY THEY DON’T HAVE, IT’S A RECIPE FOR APATHY.
POLITICIANS KNOW THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH MORE TODAY BECAUSE MANY YOUNG ADULTS TODAY ARE JUST PLAIN DUMB AND SELFISH.
THEY ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION.
YOUTH HERE IN LAWRENCE CARED MORE ABOUT THE SMOKING BAN THAN THEY DID ABOUT FUNDING FOR EDUCATION OR TAX INCREASES.
MANY WHO SPEND TIME ON THE BLOGS BITCHING ABOUT BUSH I BET DID NOT EVEN VOTE. OH WELL……..YOU YOUNG FOLK BETTER GO CATCH THAT SALE AT THE GAP…..

KANSAS CITY STAR
Too many people are apathetic and uninvolved. They need to know that our democracy is a participatory, high impact, heavy contact sport.

The history arrived in the mail and like fireworks expressed the best of what our Independence Day should embody.

Betty Dawson, 70, shared it after a 12-year-old boy she knows questioned why she got worked up about President Bush and today’s politics. Dawson, who lives in Johnson County, wrote in a note that the boy said: “Why do you care? You’ll be dead in two years.”

She was still reeling from that when we talked. Her package in the mail followed. It included letters to her from congressmen, senators and the White House on her ’60s, ’70s and ’80s activism.

The history was amazing. It encompassed the civil-rights movement, the Vietnam War, welfare reduction, the draft, the environment, Africa, world hunger, funding for the arts, the United Nations, the Equal Rights Amendment, women’s reproductive rights, oil, cancer research, genocide and government funding for the military instead of better health and housing.

Many of the letters could have been written about today’s problems with a few name changes. Vietnam could be replaced by Iraq and Afghanistan, and President Richard Nixon could be changed to Bush. Dawson said she hung on to the letters so they would be around for her descendents to read 100 years from now.

They’ll know that she existed and know that she cared about what was going on in our time.

“I just have to do it,” Dawson said. “When I see what seems to me an injustice, I have to speak out. I think about 1930s Germany and how people, probably good people, didn’t speak out, and their Jewish neighbors were taken away.”

The retired nurse has remained an active letter writer to help tell elected officials what the people really want. She had written to Sen. James B. Pearson of Kansas about civil rights before the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

He wrote back in a March 18, 1964, letter saying: “The bill now before the United States Senate is very broad and complicated. It is also controversial as any legislation would be which touches upon so many aspects of individual liberty and property rights.

“Such legislation involves a complicated combination of moral concepts, political philosophies and legal rights. It attempts to deal with problems which are real but difficult to solve.”

Pearson noted that he had supported such legislation in the past and intended to do so on the pending bill.

Many of Dawson’s letters in the 1960s and 1970s also covered the Vietnam War. She received several pieces of correspondence in the 1970s from then-Sen. Bob Dole and Pearson telling her of their faith in Nixon and his plan to bring U.S. troops home.

Dawson wrote to many top U.S. corporate officials in the 1970s that supplied weapons during the U.S. involvement in Vietnam. She got correspondence back from several including DuPont, Westinghouse, General Motors, Motorola, Ratheon and Ford.

The executives said their companies were good corporate citizens. Most of their products were for everyday use by U.S. residents. However, the goods they supplied the U.S. military were directed toward world peace.

But Dawson said she knows people’s involvement helped get U.S. troops out of Vietnam. The same groundswell needs to happen to get our troops out of Iraq.

Dawson said a counselor advised her not to get so upset about things. Dawson said, “As far as I’m concerned, that’s what’s wrong.”

Too many people are apathetic and uninvolved. They need to know that our democracy is a participatory, high impact, heavy contact sport. Unless people are on the playing field getting dirty, the nation will go in a direction they won’t like. Too many people are disinterested or too “busy” to be bothered.

“Everyone walks around with cell phones plugged into their ears,” said Dawson, who volunteers at Kansas City International Airport. “We need to be in the now. But how can we be in the now when we’re on the phone?”

She said change will only come when young people insist upon it as she and people in her generation did decades ago.

“It’s not ours anymore,” Dawson said. “It’s the younger generation that’s got to quit thinking about their $400,000 houses and $50,000 cars and their cell phones and computers. Until that happens, we are lost.”

If younger people will pay attention, good citizens like Dawson still are more than willing to teach.

Can Whites Teach Blacks?

Teachers’ Racial Makeup In Hartford Spurs Debate

By RACHEL GOTTLIEB
Courant Staff Writer

Race was at the heart of the Hartford school system’s most wrenching incidents this year.

A white principal didn’t make it through the year at Simpson-Waverly Classical Magnet School, in a mostly black neighborhood, after she hired all white teachers to replace retirees, setting the tone for a racially charged atmosphere that seemed to worsen every week.

At the end of the year, parents and students also complained bitterly to the school board that a Simpson-Waverly music teacher told kids she didn’t like “black music.” The music teacher, who denies ever saying such a thing, had previously filed a complaint of her own accusing three black teachers in the school of racially harassing her and encouraging their students to misbehave in her class.

And a black principal in the district’s most troubled school, Milner Elementary School, attributed her school’s woes, in part, to white teachers being culturally out of tune with black students.

Hartford’s political focus on racial balance has long helped determine the composition of the school board and the selection of the superintendent and even principals. But it has rarely reached down to the classrooms as it did this year.

School officials whiplashed by this year’s incidents are now debating some tough questions: Can white teachers effectively teach children of color? Is the lagging achievement of children of color caused in part by low expectations of white teachers? And are white educators to blame for the high rate of minority group members directed to special education services?

Black Conservative Group Blasts Ebonics Plan for California Schools

    Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

    By Melanie Hunter
    CNSNews.com Senior Editor

(CNSNews.com) - A black conservative group is criticizing a controversial pilot program in San Bernardino, Calif., schools that would inject “Ebonics” slang into the schools’ curriculum.

The project, known as SANKOFA or Students Accumulating New Knowledge Optimizing Future Accomplishment Initiative, is designed to improve the academic performance of black students by keeping them interested in their studies.

But black conservative group Project 21 said the program will do more harm than good.

“Teaching Ebonics, which is nothing more than urban slang, will not provide a means for an individual to acquire a job,” said Project 21 member Michael King in a statement.

“It will not help someone maintain a living. It will not provide an individual with the skills necessary to compete in an academic setting, let alone a professional setting. It does absolutely nothing positive for those to whom it is taught. I don’t see professors trying to justify hacker geek-speak or online shorthand as their own separate language!” King said.

Sankofa, an African word from the Akan language currently spoken in Ghana is translated as “We must go back and reclaim our past so we can move forward; so we understand why and how we came to be who we are today.”

But that has nothing to do, Project 21 said, with Ebonics. The group called it the “legitimization of modern urban American slang” and warned that it would “harm the professional development of black children if it is put on the same level as Standard English.”

“There are some who would prefer the San Bernardino school system and other schools throughout the United States take the easy way out by sending our children into the world without a grasp of basic English skills,” Kevin Martin, a member of the group, said in a statement.

“This is a disservice to the black community that will severely limit our children’s skills in the job market,” said Martin. “This is a prime example of what people call ‘the soft bigotry of low expectations.’”

But San Bernardino School District official Len Cooper doesn’t see it that way. He said while he understands that there is a “negative stigma” attached to Ebonics, the program the school district will be using is “affirming.”

California State University sociology professor Mary Texeira, a supporter of the use of Ebonics, said the school district’s program does not go far enough and Ebonics “should be considered a foreign language.” She said the students “should be taught like other students who speak a foreign language.”

    Slavery reparations

    Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

    Walter E. Williams

The slavery reparations shakedown lobby is gearing up for attacks on American industry. They’ve failed in the courts and Congress, so they’re going after weak-kneed CEOs. At the NAACP’s recent annual convention, Dennis C. Hayes, its interim president, said, “Absolutely, we will be pursuing reparations from companies that have historical ties to slavery and engaging all parties to come to the table.” According to Mr. Hayes, “Many of the problems we have now including poverty, disparities in health care and incarceration can be directly tied to slavery.”

Part of the reparations lobby’s agenda is to pressure cities to enact laws requiring companies that wish to do business with the city to complete studies to see whether they had ties to slavery. They’ve been successful in getting such legislation enacted in Philadelphia and Chicago. CEOs at J.P. Morgan Chase Bank and Wachovia Corp. have apologized for their predecessors’ ties to slavery and agreed to be shaken down for several million dollars to fund scholarships and black history programs.

Mr. Hayes’ reparations vision strains credulity and is counter-productive to boot. Most black Americans are neither poor nor in prison. So if poverty and incarceration are directly tied to slavery, Mr. Hayes might explain how so many blacks somehow escaped this “legacy of slavery.” For those blacks in poverty or incarcerated, what’s Mr. Hayes’ message to them? Is it to wait for CEOs to fork over some reparations change and apologize for slavery? If that’s the message, then those blacks who are poor are going to remain so, and those who are lawless will continue to experience high incarceration rates.

I think a better message for avoiding long-term poverty and high incarceration rates is: Graduate from high school. Get married before you have children and stay married. Work at any kind of job, even one that starts out paying the minimum wage. Finally, do not engage in criminal behavior.

The recent phase of the reparations movement contains an interesting twist. Rev. Wayne Perryman, a conservative minister of Mount Calvary Christian Center Church of God in Christ in Seattle, Wash., has filed a lawsuit against the Democratic Party. His lawsuit, filed in United States District Court in Seattle, charges “that because of their racist past practices the Democratic Party should be required to pay African Americans Reparations.” Rev. Perryman’s brief, citing abundant historical evidence, charges that the past racist policies and practices that were initiated against blacks by the Democratic Party — were no different than the policies and practices that were initiated by the Nazi Party against the Jews.

Brian DeBose’s Washington Times July 12th article “NAACP to Target Private Business,” describing events at the NAACP convention, didn’t report on whether the NAACP, and black politicians present, intend to support Rev. Perryman’s legal actions against the Democratic Party. What are we to make of corporate CEOs, and their boards of directors, who cave in to the reparations shakedown? What are their motivations? One possibility is that they might fear that a principled stand, telling the reparations hustlers to take a hike, might cost them in terms of bad publicity and sales. The CEOs might guess their stockholders prefer dividends to principle. Another explanation, which makes less sense, is that the CEOs actually feel guilty about their predecessors’ ties to slavery more than a century ago. For their guilt, “Certificate of Amnesty and Pardon” BELOW that might help them..

There’s a reparations agenda question that I would have liked to ask the mayors of Philadelphia and Chicago, who have laws that require companies, seeking to do business with the city, to do studies determining whether they had ties to slavery. Suppose it’s the city’s monopoly electric company that refuses to comply. Will the mayors tell them to keep their electricity and work in the dark?

    Ebonics suggested for district
    By Irma Lemus Staff Writer

SAN BERNARDINO Incorporating Ebonics into a new school policy that targets black students, the lowest-achieving group in the San Bernardino City Unified School District, may provide students a more well-rounded curriculum, said a local sociologist.

The goal of the district’s policy is to improve black students’ academic performance by keeping them interested in school. Compared with other racial groups in the district, black students go to college the least and have the most dropouts and suspensions.

Blacks make up the second largest racial group in the district, trailing Latinos.

A pilot of the policy, known as the Students Accumulating New Knowledge Optimizing Future Accomplishment Initiative, has been implemented at two city schools.

Mary Texeira, a sociology professor at Cal State San Bernardino, commended the San Bernardino Board of Education for approving the policy in June.

Texeira suggested that including Ebonics in the program would be beneficial for students. Ebonics, a dialect of American English that is spoken by many blacks throughout the country, was recognized as a separate language in 1996 by the Oakland school board.

“Ebonics is a different language, it’s not slang as many believe,’ Texeira said. “For many of these students Ebonics is their language, and it should be considered a foreign language. These students should be taught like other students who speak a foreign language.’

Texeira said research has shown that students learn better when they fully comprehend the language they are being taught in.

“There are African Americans who do not agree with me. They say that (black students) are lazy and that they need to learn to talk,’ Texeira said.

Len Cooper, who is coordinating the pilot program at the two city schools, said San Bernardino district officials do not plan to incorporate Ebonics into the program.

“Because Ebonics can have a negative stigma, we’re not focusing on that,’ Cooper said. “We are affirming and recognizing Ebonics through supplemental reading books (for students).’

Beginning in the 2005-06 school year, teachers will receive training on black culture and customs. District curriculum will now include information on the historical, cultural and social impact of blacks in society. Although the program is aimed at black students, other students can choose to participate.

The pilot program at Rio Vista Elementary and King Middle schools focuses on second-, fourth- and seventh-grade classes. District officials hope to train teachers from other schools using the program as a model.

Board member Danny Tillman, who pushed for the policy, said that full implementation of the program at all schools may take years, but the pilot program is a beginning.

“At every step we will see positive results,’ Tillman said.

Tillman hoped the new policy would increase the number of black students going to college and participating in advanced courses.

Teresa Parra, board vice president, said she worried the new program would have an adverse effect.

“I’m afraid that now that we have this the Hispanic community, our largest population, will say, ‘We want something for us.’ Next we’ll have the Asian community and the Jewish community (asking for their own programs). When will it end?’

Parra said the district should focus on helping all students who are at risk.

“I’ve always thought that we should provide students support based on their needs and not on their race,’ Parra said.

Tillman disagreed with Parra, saying programs that help Latinos already exist in the district. He cited the district’s English- as-a-second-language program.

Texeira urged people not be quick to judge the new program as socially exclusive. She said people need to be open to the program.

“Everybody has prejudices, but we must all learn to control that behavior,’ Texeira said. She said a child’s self confidence is tied to his or her cultural identity.

She compared the low performance of black students to starvation. “How can you be angry when you feed a family of starving children?’

Ratibu Jacocks, a member of the Westside Action Group, a coalition of black activists, said they are working with the district to ensure the policy is implemented appropriately.

“This isn’t a feel-good policy. This is the real thing,’ Jacocks said.

Jacocks said he didn’t believe the new policy would create animosity. He said he welcomed the idea of other ethnic groups pushing for their own programs.

“When you are doing what’s right, others will follow,’ Jacocks said. “We have led the way before the civil-rights movement opened the door for women’s rights and other movements.’

Mormon faith attracts people of color despite vestiges of racist past

    Sunday, July 17th, 2005

OK BEFORE YOU READ THE ARTICLE LETS REMIND OURSELVES WHY THE SIMPLE FACT THAT SOME IGNORANT BLACK FOLK WOULD EVEN CONSIDER BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE MORMON CHURCH IS OVER THE TOP WACKED!
I THINK I WILL JOIN THE KLAN, WHY THE HELL NOT, THEY HAVE KOOL ROBES, CALL THEMSELVES, “GRAND DRAGONS” SOUNDS KOOL TOO AND THEY BURN CROSSES. I LIKE A GOOD FIRE. THEY ONLY BURN CROSSES TO STAY WARM.
AS YOU CAN SEE I HAVE ADDED PHOTOS FROM ONE OF MY FAVORITE SOUTH PARK EPISODES, THE ONE ABOUT THE MORMONS…..DUMB, DUMB, DUMB…..

“There is a reason why one man is born black and with other disadvantages, while another is born white with great advantage. The reason is that we once had an estate before we came here, and were obedient, more or less, to the laws that were given us there. Those who were faithful in all things there received greater blessings here, and those who were not faithful received less…. There were no neutrals in the war in heaven. All took sides either with Christ or with Satan. Every man had his agency there, and men receive rewards here based upon their actions there, just as they will receive rewards hereafter for deeds done in the body. The Negro, evidently, is receiving the reward he merits.”
-Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, Vol.1, pages 66-67

So yes, in the Mormon world the atonement covers the sins of Adam’s fall, but babies are still born black and get treated like inferiors.

    BY MARGARET RAMIREZ
    Chicago Tribune

CHICAGO - (KRT) - As sunlight flooded the church from a window above, Brad Hunter brought his 2-week-old baby girl, Leah, in front of the congregation for her first blessing.

One by one, the male leaders of this Mormon church in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood formed a tight circle around the child. Black, white, Latino, Indian and Japanese Mormons placed their palms under Leah, forming a cradle of hands. Then the men closed their eyes tight and prayed.

The striking scene provides a modern-day portrait of today’s Mormon Church, officially known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Long perceived as a mostly white institution, the church now counts more than 12 million members worldwide, with nearly a third of its followers in Africa and Latin America.
This year, as the church celebrates its 175th anniversary and the bicentennial of the birth of its founder, a religion that began in a New York log cabin has emerged as a diverse global faith and the fourth largest church in the United States, with 5.5 million American members.

Mormon growth has been fueled by converts of color brought in by the church’s missionary zeal and attracted largely, experts say, by the church’s focus on family.

“The church has really emphasized the importance of family at a time when families are in trouble. That emphasis has made a great deal of difference,” said Jan Shipps, a prominent Mormon scholar at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis who is not a church member. “It’s an important religious force and it’s here to stay.”

The church’s diversity has emerged almost defiantly from the relics of its racist past. Early Mormon teachings spoke of black people as inferior, cursed by God and unworthy to serve as clergy. Not until 1978 did the church lift the ban that barred blacks from the priesthood.

The American church remains predominantly white, and precise growth patterns are difficult to note because the church says it does not keep statistics on race or ethnicity. But church officials and religious scholars say that in the past 20 years the Mormon message has been well-received by middle-class African-Americans and, in particular, Latino immigrants.

Scholars say the number of black Mormons, miniscule before 1978, is estimated at 5,000 to 10,000 today. The church says 130,000 people belonged to Spanish-speaking U.S. congregations in 2004, up from 92,600 in 1995. Those figures do not include Latinos attending services in English.

Yet despite the increasing presence of minorities in the church, race issues have emerged as part of the church’s growing pains.

Some scholars say the racist doctrine still found in Mormon texts and church leaders’ past negative comments are factors in the slow growth of the church among African-Americans and have driven some members to leave in disgust. Other Mormons question whether an increasingly diverse legion of Latter-day Saints can be adequately represented by a leadership still composed mainly of white men.

Darron Smith, a black Mormon and an adjunct sociology professor at church-owned Brigham Young University in Utah, believes church leaders should formally repudiate all racist doctrines and teachings on blacks, arguing that it is the only way to retain black members.
“Why do Mormons persist in believing that black people were cursed? Many of them do and stubbornly defend racist white sentiment. Why is that?” said Smith, who co-authored a new book of essays titled “Black and Mormon.” “I think this is counterproductive to the church’s mission.”The large majority of black Mormons say they are willing to look beyond the racist teachings and cleave to the church in part because of its powerful, detailed teachings on life after death. Cathy Stokes, a black Mormon who lives in Chicago, said she was drawn by members’ strong devotion to living the faith.

“Joining this church was the single most important decision of my life,” said Stokes, a former Baptist who converted in 1979. “And since I’ve come, I have never felt more love than I feel here.”

    GOOD QUESTION!

    La Bona said…
My turn to say it , OK?
Sorry for posting an off topic question here but I think this particular one has a profound impact on our society.

The Pope says “Harry Potter corrupts the young, distorting their understanding of the battle between good and evil”. In a way, he is saying “Harry is Evil, Potter is Satan!”

Well, we know orthodox Christians also despise Uncle Santa Claus and all those at DisneyWorld, do you fancy a world without Cinderella, Snow White and Mr. Mickey Mouse?

    La Bona
    HER BLOG HERE

I KNOW THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH DOES NOT COMPLETLY APPLY TO ALL CHRISTIANS BUT IT DOES SPELL A BASIS FOR THE REASONS SOME CHRISTIANS DON’T LIKE THE IDEA OF FICTIONAL CHARACTERS BEING MADE INTO IDOLS.

LOOK, SNOOP DOES NOT TOTALLY AGREE, HOWEVER I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND. CHRISTMAS IS ONLY ABOUT GREEDY ASS KIDS GETTING TOYS AND ABSENT PARENTS MAKING UP FOR TOTALLY IGNORING THEIR KIDS ALL YEAR AND THEY LOOK AT CHRISTAMS AS A DAY TO BUY THEIR KIDS BACK.
PEOPLE SCRAMBLE TO BUY GIFTS FOR PEOPLE WITH MONEY THEY DON’T HAVE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE TOO SELFISH TO APPRECIATE THE GIFTS ANYWAY. SANTA CLAUS IS JUST THE SYMBOL OF THIS GREED.
EASTER IS ANOTHER JOKE. WHERE THE HEEL DID THIS EASTER BUNNY CRAP START? IT’S ABOUT SELLING SHIT TO GULLIBLE CONSUMERS.
DOES HARRY POTTER CORRUPT KIDS? I WOULD SAY NO, BUT…. LOOK HOW THE MEDIA MACHINE HAS DRIVEN THE NEED FOR PARENTS TO BUY THESE BOOKS FOR THEIR KIDS. THE FUCKEN HARRY POTTER BOOKS ARE NOT THAT GREAT, LETS GET REAL. BUT THE DAMM TODAY SHOW HAS A SPECIAL SEGMENT ANNOUNCING THE REVEAL OF THE COVER, GIVE ME A BREAK!
AS FAR A CINDERELLA, SNOW WHITE AND MICKEY MOUSE I DID NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THESE FIGURES GROWING UP BUT THEY ARE A PART OF THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF YOUNG CHILDREN. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN THESE ICONS OVERSHADOWS MORE IMPORTANT THINGS.
THESE ICONS DICTATE SO MUCH OF OUR SOCIETY. THAT IS THE ISSUE SOME CHRISTIANS HAVE WITH THEM.
DO YOUR RADICAL CHRISTIANS LIKE JERRY FALWELL GO TOO FAR? SURE THEY DO. IS BLAMING SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS FOR GAY LIFESTYLES REALLY…….REALLY… STUPID? YES! THERE ARE CRAZY FUCKS ON BOTH SIDE OF THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM.
IS THE POPE CALLING POTTER EVIL WACKED? YES. JUST MORE EXAMPLES OF HUMANS NOT USING BASIC COMMON SENSE.

“Christmas and Easter were set aside to honor Christ, but how dare we set aside days to remember him, when we forget all of his teachings? What does his
life mean to us? Maybe it’s more consistent that America substitutes the Easter bunny and Santa Claus for him, because America dishonors these holidays
by not honoring the meaning of his life & teachings the rest of the year.
America’s heroes are the Easter bunny and Santa Claus, who America remembers for at least two days out of the year. The rest of the year America spends
busily worshipping fame, beauty & strength: their rock & roll stars, their Hollywood stars, and sports stars. (If they do think of Christ, it’s as a zany
clown in Godspell or as a cult superstar in Jesus Christ Superstar.) But when Americans die they cry out to God and their moms, because love is still more
important than beauty and fame. That was one of Christ’s messages. It is why he didn’t seek fame or beauty, but sought to love God & his fellow man with
all his heart. And I love Him because He first loved me. He excels in loving the unlovable, and by His love, making them lovable. America, you can keep
your bunnies, elves & fairies, & Santas, I’ll keep my friend Christ.”

    THE WELFARE SYSTEM

    Wednesday, July 13th, 2005

It has become almost acceptable to characterize welfare recipients as irresponsible, negligent baby-breeders on a free ride, courtesy of the taxpaying public. Popular portrayals are of mothers dependent on the government for support, who breed babies for the sole purpose of collecting undeserved welfare checks. And what is implied by social commentators, politicians, the media, and many Americans is that the vast majority of these women are Negro.

Yes It’s clear that welfare has a Negro face. You see television or news shows about welfare, only occasionally will they show someone who is not Negro the assumption is that when you speak of welfare, you’re speaking of Negro folk

The facts reveal an entirely different picture that underscores the difference between the rhetoric that would have one believe that most welfare recipients are Black and the reality that the majority of them are White. YES WHITE JACKASS!

Welfare and crime are two racially loaded issues. It’s a way of talking about Black people without actually saying those Black people. Fucken racists like the KKK section below love to portray this notion as racists propaganda, while white liberals use it a bait during election season. Give these niggas some crumbs in exchange for their vote.
Racist attitudes aside it is a matter of record that White trailer trash mothers receive more than half of the checks distributed under the auspices of the Aid to Families with Dependent Children program over 55%, compared to 39.2% received by Negros. Additionally, the U.S. Census Bureau reported in February that during an average month in 1990, 61% of major assistance program participants were White, compared to 34% who were Negro.

Although the American public most often associates welfare with aid to families, the government defines all entitlement programs funded through taxes as welfare. Consequently, Social Security fits that definition.

As of December 1995, 26 million Americans were receiving Social Security retirement insurance. However, only 7.7% of the beneficiaries were Negro, while 90.4% were White. A system today that has made seniors in general, and Whites in particular, affluent however most people don’t look at Social Security as part of the welfare system.

And people don’t consider the National School Lunch Program, which feeds millions of low-income school children as part of the welfare system. But it is and, again, Whites are the primary beneficiaries. Compared to the 17% of recipients who were Black, 75% of the children receiving reduced or free lunches are White. Whites also receive the majority of food stamps, Medicaid and Medicare assistance, housing subsidies and veterans’ benefits provided by the government.

Also fitting the definition of welfare are the corporate subsidy programs that are funded with federal tax dollars. It’s been estimated that Congress funds more than 125 programs that subsidize private businesses, the overwhelming majority of which are White-owned and operated, say experts, at a cost of more than $85 billion annually.

Across the board, in nearly every category, Whites, not Negros, comprise the majority of Americans on the public dole. But why, despite the overwhelming evidence that suggests otherwise, does the negative stereotype stubbornly cling to Negros? Because of the legacy of racism. So that when you think of something negative in society, you think of Negros. When you think of something positive, you think of White people.

Another negative opinion that persists is that Negro women have multiple children in order to receive more government money.
Individual stories demonstrate that the reasons why people, whether they are Negro or White, receive welfare are as diverse as the people themselves. Statistical facts prove that there are more Whites on welfare than there are Negro, despite the rhetoric that would have the public believe otherwise. And an honest discussion of the welfare system makes it clear that it cannot be placed neatly in simple Negro and White categories. So get your facts straight you racists fucks.
Bottom line poverty is not a genetic issue it’s is an economic issue.
Whites have all of the advantages and still play the system.

Ok now you know I am speaking very serious for a change because of the lack of all caps. I received a curious but slightly disturbing, confusing note from a young woman who I will not name out of respect.
She has been reading the zone almost since I started over a month ago.
She is honestly confused and bewildered at my political points of view. Especially with her knowing, I am black.
Everything I have posted and said on my blog is contrary to what she was taught by her parents and those around her.
She has never been around blacks nor has spoken to many blacks in her lifetime, which makes the Zone to her more of an interest of sorts.
Some may remember a few weeks ago when I “jokingly” said that people who did not vote for me in the Battle of the Blog contests were racists.
She found the remark offensive. The post was pure sarcasm; I was not serious in any way.
I think I said on the post before I don’t take the battle thing seriously or personally
its simply a way to introduce folks to new posts. What counts for me is traffic, and I can assure you I receive a fair amount.
Regardless of the lack of comments many people are at least looking. Surprisingly enough less and less of my traffic is “Blog Explosion” related.
So folks are finding me, which makes this more fun.
I have fun with my blog and I don’t take myself or this blog too seriously.
FYI folks I have the best wife and job I could ever hope for. My life is pretty darn good. Blogging is a hobby people. Anybody who takes this endeavor too seriously needs psychiatric help. You need a life.
She talked about how she could not vote for my blog because of my views. She thinks my views insight hatred, and in her words “adds to the suffering” of black individuals in this country.
She stated that my blog is funny sometimes and she would like to vote for it, but cannot out of conscience.
This young woman said that my attacks on liberals are an attack on the very people who try to help blacks and other minorities receive opportunities in this country.
Pause for a moment and think about that comment………………….
Let’s assume you believe that particular comment, do any of you who do feel the same way understand how dangerous that comment is?
Can anybody see how self-absorbed and self important you have to feel to think that way?
Could she not see how condescending that remark would be to another black individual?
This young woman in her heartbelieves that her goodness and caring is what is needed to provide opportunities for blacks or other minorities.
This is why I am Republican and Conservative. This is also, why I sincerely believe that liberalism is at its core destructive and corrosive to promoting freedoms and opportunities for minorities and blacks in particular.
To this young woman or anybody else who may have those same views, you need chill and get a grip on reality.
I am not about promoting a pro Republican or Pro Conservative agenda. Not everything Republicans do is sound is always correct and is always in the best interest of the country.
We all need to take a close and honest look at our views and make our case and stand up for what we believe.
However, I have always felt that those of you who consider yourself liberals are not honest with yourselves or real life.
If any of you share this woman’s thought processes they you better do some soul searching, because you are not only out of touch with reality you don’t have a clear grasp of the world around you.
Like the invitation, I extended to “Liberal Traitor”, please feel free to set me straight, feel free to try to educate me.
    Peace, Snoop

    EQUAL OPPORTUNITY RAGGING!

SOME SMALL EXAMPLES OF CRAZY SHIT YOU WHITE PEOPLE ENGAGE IN.
    STUPIDITY IS RUNNING RAMPANT!

Willie Windsor, 54, of Phoenix has for several years lived as a full-time baby, wearing frilly dresses, diapers and bonnets, sucking on a pacifier, eating Gerber cuisine, and habitually clutching a rag doll, in a home filled with oversized baby furniture. According to a long Phoenix New Times profile in June, the diaper is not just a prop. Windsor said he worked hard to become incontinent, even chaining the commode shut to avoid temptation, and the reporter admitted feeling “disconcert(ed)” that Windsor might be relieving himself at the very moment he was describing his un-toilet training. Apparently, Windsor’s brother, ex-wife, girlfriend and a neighbor tolerate his lifestyle (though no girlfriend has yet been willing to change his diapers). Windsor is a semi-retired singer-actor and said he’s been celibate for nine years. (Phoenix New Times)

Justin Breakspear, 18, was arrested in Framingham, Mass., in May and charged with illegal possession of three firearms, one of which was a .380-caliber pistol; police said it was unlikely Breakspear would claim the pistol is not his, in that on his hip is a tattoo of an exact replica of the gun. And in Glens Falls, N.Y., in May, Jason McClaskey, 25, on house arrest, was admitted to a hospital in Valhalla, N.Y., with burns over 60 percent of his body; police said McClaskey might have tried to burn the monitoring device off of his leg (though McClaskey said he was merely lighting his grill, even though it was 6 a.m., and there was no charcoal on the grill). (Worcester Telegram & Gazette
    Newsday-AP)

Police in Springfield, Ore., charged Pamela Ann Hemphill, 51, with theft in April after she allegedly snatched neighbor Walter Merritt’s Charles Schulz-signed, original Peanuts cartoon strip, locked herself in a bathroom, removed her clothes, got under the shower, wet the cardboard thoroughly, and finally flushed the pieces down the toilet. Hemphill declined to explain; Merritt said he had no clue as to motive; and the Springfield News reporter has not yet followed up on the story. (Springfield News)

    The Confederate battle flag

    Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

[The Confederate battle flag, called the “Southern Cross” or the cross of St. Andrew, has been described variously as a proud emblem of Southern heritage and as a shameful reminder of slavery and segregation. In the past, several Southern states flew the Confederate battle flag along with the U.S. and state flags over their statehouses. Others incorporated the controversial symbol into the design of their state flags. The Confederate battle flag has also been appropriated by the Ku Klux Klan and other racist hate groups. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, more than 500 extremist groups use the Southern Cross as one of their symbols.]

That last statement is the point my friends. The good old Confederate flag IS used as a symbol of hate.
This enduring symbol of white racists pride is supposedly misunderstood. In fact some blacks actually defend the right to display it. Some whites say its a reminder of their heritage. Most young whites who wear or display the flag do not know shit about its origins nor do they care. If it is a reminder of your so called heritage, then let me peep you on something YOU FUCKEN LOST THE WAR IDIOTS!
Since when do we display the flag of the losing side on our gubment buildings?
Now people like Howard Dean supports those Confederate flag waving rednecks
[”I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks,” the former Vermont governor said in an interview published in the Des Moines Register. “We can’t beat George Bush unless we appeal to a broad cross-section of Democrats.”]
Stated early in the election campaign.
Jackass Dean also said in a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus [“the Republican National Committee could only get “this many people of color in a single room…if they had the hotel staff in here.”] Ah Democrats dey is the craziest peoples!
    But I digress.
No Snoop does not like the flag. It is an enduring symbol of racists bullshit that we should be leaving behind. If you want to show your true racists colors go ahead and fly it on your pickup or wear it proudly on your shirt. Its good to be able to see a racist bastard coming from afar. So many white people choose to hide their racists tendencies. I guess at least rednecks are not afraid to display it.
But as you can see Snoop co-opted your racists symbol and adapted it.
Fly that on your fucken truck!
